What happens when a comedy genius drops an album that sounds like a behind-the-scenes tour of every awkward band moment ever?In this laugh-packed episode of The Ben and Skin Show, hosts Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive into the absurd brilliance of Fred Armisen’s upcoming album, 100 Sound Effects — a sonic sketchbook of painfully specific, hilariously accurate musical moments. From “Drum Soundcheck at Medium Sized Venue” to “Sparsely Attended Show Encore with Someone Shouting ‘Where’s Jim?’,” the crew plays clips, guesses track names, and absolutely loses it over the deadpan genius of it all.

Stay on Top in the Woods, chovey.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
All right, I'm gonna seef you guys can guess the
track name, because, uh, comedian Fred Armison's got a new
album coming out on September twenty sixth, and I'm just
gonna He's put a few of these tracks out to preview,
so we'll see if you guys can guess what's the
name of this track off his upcoming record in September?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
That was it? Okay, can you play it again?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Was that part of the same song?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
No?

Speaker 1 (00:47):
No, this is track one. That's how his new record
will open with that track.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Opening track. Now, the track is called Needle on Record?
Can I hear that again? Don't waste time. Don't waste
time on that one. It's not that good. Okay, that's
interesting A needle on a track?

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Okay, this is going to be a track three on
the new record. See if you guys can guess the
track name.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Ah, I think I know the name of it.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, Okay, that's important to strum at the end. Okay, yep, yep.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I guess tuning a guitar ye okay, no, but now, oh,
it's not tuning a guitar strumming a guitar close again
but e a d g B. It's called guitar tune
but still some guitar tune, but still somehow out of tune.

(02:11):
Track two it's called drum sound check at medium sized venue.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Okay, you gotta heapis so much.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
This is what he does during his current live show,
the worst snare.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
And then he'll do this live and then he'll do it.
Then he'll go, thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Okay, band sound check sound guy and band of Green
for too long. Hey, uh, I'm good out here.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Sounds good. You got monitors? Okay, Yeah, sounds great.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
It sounds.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I'm good. Good on your end, I mean the room
is stilled. It's incredible, dude, it sounds really good. Where
is Trummer asked for more? You know, more in his monitor?

(03:40):
This is that command.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
This is comedy, very for a very small group of people,
but it's very funny.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Yeah. This is a track five that he hasn't released.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
All the tracks I've been the album is called one
hundred sound Effects, but he only gave you the first
seven to preview. Track five is called Romanian Crowd at
Rock Club shouting for an encore. Okay, okay, I want

(04:19):
you to try to guess the track name of track six.
Listen all the way to its twenty seconds.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Where's Jim?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Somebody say, where's the track name?

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Can we guess?

Speaker 4 (04:42):
I think it's crowd after encore and medium sized venue.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Sparsely attended show Encore with someone shouting where's gym?

Speaker 2 (04:53):
So there's gonna be a I have a question.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Do you think he recorded these and then named or
he came up with the names and then performed these.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Here's what I think. I think it's like he is.
This is his version of observational humor for his world.
And he's always been in bands and he's always been
playing small venues and things like that, and so I
think he's like making fun of that experience, and he
knows what all those experiences are, and so he knows
what he wants to record and then has a name

(05:24):
for it.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
But he also got tracks on here of the one hundred,
he's got basketball bouncing, uh, signing a basketball, things like that,
he's got walking into a video room at an art museum.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
To me, it's even better if he came up with
the title and then recorded it. There's a guy going
we're gonna have a song called this, and then where's Jim.
Somebody has to come in and go where's Jim. So good,
so there is September that'll be dropping. We will probably
play a lot of that on The Evil Think So
