Glad to have you pulling up a chair with us today.
Lots to get into in the presentation. I'm up at
three thirty did I finally watch a show that Katie's
(01:02):
been begging us to watch. We'll also talk a little
Dallas Cowboys football as we're closing in on the NFL Draft,
but probably the big story of the day continues to
be the press conference yesterday that happened with Nico and
Rick Welts for the Mavericks, and of course the Mavericks
played basketball tonight in a play in the play in tournament,
and so really that should be the focus, and it
(01:25):
is a focus for a lot of people, But probably
the biggest story in town is just the continuing fallout
after the Luka Dancich trade. And the timing of this
press conference is fascinating, all of it. It's fascinating. But
skin you poured through the transcript, did it change the
way you felt about or the way you feel about
(01:46):
any of it? Did it impact you by reading the transcript?
I wouldn't say it changed the way I felt about it.
You know. We had talked to a couple of people
that were in the room, you know, and so I
knew a little bit about that, and then had also
read some of the the stuff that was coming out
in articles as it was coming out now last night,
and reading the full, you know, twenty eight page transcript,
(02:09):
the one thing that stuck out to me that was
I guess maybe maybe made me feel different. I don't know,
but the way that the guys that were in the
room presented the Dirt Noovitchky stuff. I feel like it
was a little disingenuous, unless there's something out there that
I missed. How do you mean? Well, if if you
(02:32):
saw like you you read us on air, Mark Cuban's
tweet quote about the about Dirtnovitski and what he is,
and it was based on a comment that Nico Harrison
had answered a question about and I'm I don't have
it in front of you, but him talking about if
I made a decision that Dirt didn't like or that
(02:53):
mav fans didn't like, and Cuban had this response to it,
which was powerful, like we heard it on the air,
is like damn, because he was like, Dirknovitsky is the
Dallas Mavericks, you know, and so it's like when you
hear it in that context, you're like, wow, that's crazy stuff. Well,
when I went back and read the transcript that commed
he made was five questions. It was a direct response
(03:16):
to another question about Dirk that was a follow up
question to this. I'll read you guys this right quick.
Tell me if if how you feel like what you
heard about Dirk yes day, if you feel any different
After hearing this had happened four questions earlier, Tim Cato said, originally,
this franchise's culture was built on Dirtnovitski, the guy with
the statue outside. It seems clear he made clear there
(03:39):
are various ways that he is not pleased with the
direction that the franchise is going and some of the
choices that you have made.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
Does that give you pause at all?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
And here is Nico's response, Well, let's be clear, Dirtnavitsky
is the most important person in the franchise history, and
that's why he's immortalized outside. In terms of how he feels,
that's a question for him. But Dirk is super important
to this franchise. Any role, big or small that he
wants to play, he'll be met with open arms. And
(04:08):
you know Dirk is he's the greatest MAVs ever. And
so I didn't see that out there anywhere. All I
saw was, well, if I made a decision Dirk or
Mavericks fans don't like, I'm sorry, I have an obligation
to the team. I assumed we could only assume that
it had there was a question that involved Dirk in it.
It doesn't change the way I feel because I assumed
that yesterday, and I just don't know that I believe that.
(04:32):
I don't know. I just think like the only way
out of this from a PR standpoint is if you
somehow can convince Dirk to be involved. I don't know
that Dirk would want to be, and I don't know
that he has time to be He's I don't want
to speak for him, but I just know like as
a consumer, as the fan, I would think that anything
(04:52):
that Dirk signs off on it would be fan approved, right,
even if they were like, yes, even if they were
like Dirk's the one who traded Luke, You're like, Okay, Dirk.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I'm not saying that happen. I'm just saying they desperately.
Look they it's they can can't say anything right now
to win. The only thing that's gonna make Nico or
the MAVs or anyone in this deal look better or
help in any way is to go win basketball games.
And they can't win basketball games right now because they're
(05:22):
because Kyrie's gone. Yeah you know what I mean? Yeah, right,
I totally you under see what I'm saying. I'm saying
they could win tonight their rosters compromised by a devastating injury. Yes,
but if they had, if they had played like they
played in the one half they had with Anthony Davis
and they were now one of the best teams in
the West Western Conference that into the playoffs, the fervor
(05:44):
and the pitch would be way different. It wouldn't be
people yelling fire and Nico would be like, oh my god,
we might win it all this year. I'm not saying
that anyone would agree with the trade because they didn't
get the fair return on the trade, but it would
make it a lot harder to be chanting fire Nico
if you have one of the best teams in the
Western car That's all I'm saying. I just think the
the the there's going to be people no matter what
(06:05):
the team is doing, that will not forgive them.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Yes, and that is their right and that.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
But if if the Mavericks are the two seed and
they're waxing teams, some guy in the arena chanting fire
and Niko is gonna be like, shut up, dumbass, right,
you know, because the team is kicking ass. The team
is not in a position to kick any ass because
they're best player or second best player that serves a
specific role that nobody else can do. Won't be back
(06:33):
till February of next year. And that was another thing.
You know, Nico acknowledged that the off season is going
to be about trying to find a style of player
that can replace Kyrie's production until he's back. So from
a basketball standpoint, he did talk about that. But man,
where do you find that guy? That's that's really difficult?
Did you did you read the transcript or hear any
(06:56):
of that lesson k team? I did not. That's news
to me. That's interesting.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Does it make you feel any different?
Speaker 4 (07:01):
No?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, but I didn't just even the news that you had.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
I really wanted yesterday to be about Kyrie's comments about
moving forward and being and loving being a Maverick. And
I don't think, dude, I doubt Nico and the guys
in charge. I doubt they even know that Kyrie did
a live stream that where he settled a bunch of
very positive things about moving forward. Like, Kyrie went on
a live stream that probably not that many people watched
and got everyone's back in the organization, and then they
(07:28):
did that.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, and Tim McMahon is making the rounds. Obviously he
was the straw that stirs the drink, as he often is.
In fact, coming up after the song, let's talk about
how everyone has Tim McMahon all wrong, and we can
talk about that. Don't go anywhere. This is coming up
in about three and a half minutes on the benin
Skin Show. All right, It is the Ben and Skin
Show ninety seven point one the Eagle. This segment is
(07:49):
brought to you by the Sunset at McKinney Amphitheater, where
you can own a piece of Dallas's most luxurious Amphitheater.
Now it's coming here in twenty twenty six, is going
to be in McKenny. It's going to be incredible venue
and you can own a piece of it. To find
out more information, go to Sunset Texas dot com. You
can own a fire pit suite. It's like a real
estate investment. You get DIBs on all the tickets so
(08:10):
you can sell the tickets. You can also join the
Apeman Club. It's awesome again that Sunset Texas dot Com
been what you say. In a moment ago we were
talking about the people are calling it a secret press conference,
which I don't know that that's fair. It was a
private press conference. I mean, it's not a secret. People
knew it was happening, but you had to be invited.
(08:32):
They only invited like, I think it was twelve members.
I heard that when I'm not sure the exact number,
but that's about the size that it was. And I
saw our buddy Mark Stein of DLS was on there
talking about how a horrible way it is to go
about a press conference, not only yesterday, but what they
did in Cleveland on that Sunday morning. He was going off,
(08:54):
and I've never seen Stein go off on anything, and
I think that speaks volumes as to how emotional all
of this is and how many missteps from a public
relations standpoint, the Dallas Maverick seem to keep making. If
mark Stein is going to speak up like that, yeah,
And I want to be so careful about this because
I respect Dirk so much and I don't want to
(09:16):
speak for him or pretend that I know anything I don't.
I just what I wanted to bring up is that
Tim McMahon has been making the rounds and he's been
talking to a lot of radio shows and podcasts. Obviously
he was the strawstur and the drink at this press
conference thing. And he's been going around talking about an
article that he's planning to release the minute the MAVs
(09:37):
season is over. And a couple of the places where
I've seen it posted is they've said that Tim McMahon
is going to talk about how Dirk became at odds
with the organization. Again, I'm not saying that. I'm just
saying what I've seen out there that's coming down the road.
And so for a MAVs fan, you're looking at, Okay,
(09:58):
they got rid of Luca and somehow they've alienated Dirk,
Like what how do I process that? All on the
night of a playing Like it's a lot to take in.
So as a MAVs fan, you're like, wait, they lost
seventy seven, they lost forty one. What is happening, Like
is the skyfall? So whatever McMahon is talking about, and
I don't know what it is, I can't wait to
(10:18):
read it the minute it comes out. Yeah. Same, But
I also think what's been happening is local people MAVs
fans have suddenly gone Wait a second, I thought McMahon
was a Nico Harrison mouthpiece. I thought he was tearing
down Luca with all these lies, like wait, what Now
he's the one asking the tough questions and now they're
carrying McMahon on their shoulders. And we've been trying to
(10:40):
say this to anyone who will listen. We've known Tim
McMahon very well. We worked with him at ESPN Dallas.
I almost got in a fistfight with Tim McMahon at
a basketball court in Miami. He dow an elbow and
he throws elbows. Yeah, that's the way he plays. And
I'm soft, and so I would have put that on
me if that had happened. But he's he's a friend,
and he is the best at what he does that
(11:02):
I've ever seen in my media career. What I mean
is asking the tough questions. I could be sitting next
to Rick Carlisle and he could look at me with
those cold dead shark eyes and stare laser beams through
my soul and I might wet my pants. McMahon would
look right at him and tear his ass down. McMahon
fears no one. McMahon is in no one's pocket. He
(11:22):
doesn't do anyone's bidding. He just asked the toughest questions
on Earth. And so if you're a MAVs fan and
you've been thinking that he had some agenda or was
in someone's pocket, you're a dumb ass. I think what
it is is, I think people read what they want
to read with they read with confirmation bias. Yeah, And
what Tim does is Tim wants to give you both
(11:42):
sides of the story. Like again, when I try to
talk about this, I want to present it as I
wouldn't have done the trade. I wouldn't have That's not
the way that I believe about basketball. I've also never
run a basketball team, so no one is, hey, how
you which kind of trades would you make?
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Right?
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Younger and more naive and arrogant, I thought I can
do this. I was wrong, Okay, But my whole point
is we all have opinions, and that's fine. They can
be validated however you want to validate it. But people
read stuff to the degree they want to read it.
And I think it's probably inaccurate that Luca's this scott
free angel that's never done anything wrong and evil Nico
(12:22):
shipped him off, Like, I think that's probably inaccurate. And
I can say that telling you whatever problems Luca does
or doesn't have, I wouldn't have traded him.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I would have gone, Okay, how can I fix this?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Because I believe that there's certain players in basketball that
are so uniquely talented you have to figure out how
to make them work if there are deficiencies. That's the
way I look at it. Okay, Nico didn't look at
it this way. And he said this over and over
and that press conference, and I told you guys this
when it happened. He targeted Anthony Davis. That's who he wanted.
(12:54):
So we can sit here old and go. He didn't
get enough for him, not in his mind. In his mind,
he can win a championship with Anthony Davis because that's
what he believes Anthony Davis is. And he said that,
he said it over and over. We targeted Anthony Davis.
Defense wins championships. That's how he believes he's gonna go
win a championship. I'm not saying he's right. I'm not
saying he's wrong. I'm saying that's what the man believes.
(13:16):
And so the reason I'm saying all this in context
of Tim McMahon, Tim McMahon is going to write things
that if you're think Luca's Jesus, you're gonna think Tim
McMahon screwing you over. He's also going to write things.
And if you're in Nico Harrison's family, you think Tim's
out to get you because he's presenting both sides. And
he told Nico that yesterday. It's in the transcript. He said,
(13:38):
who cares what I think? I'm asking trying to get
an answer to this question on logic. My opinion doesn't matter,
Like he said that to Nico, And that's what I
would say on all the people that think he's out
to get Luca. He doesn't think his opinion on Luca matters.
He wants to give everybody every bit of this story
so people can try to understand how a twenty five
(14:00):
year old generational talent is traded in the middle of
the night for a return that ninety eight percent of
the people out there perceive is not enough. That's what
Tim McMahon's job is, and he bust his ass to
try to do it. He ain't pro Nico, he ain't
pro Cuban, he ain't pro Luca, he ain't pro Dirk.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
He's trying to do his effin' job.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
We're sorry. We're gonna get back into the preview for
tonight's game and talk to Little Maps coming up at
five point thirty, so don't miss that. But coming up next,
we're gonna get into did I watch a show that
Kati's been begging us to watch? We got a little
Cowboys Talk coming your way, and the most anticipated movies
at the summer. This is the world famous bin and
Skin show on ninety seven point one the Eagles. All right,
(14:40):
we're gonna get in a little Cowboys talk coming up
here momentarily. But before we even get into the Hollywood Shuffle,
I just want to say thank you to one of
our partners QC Kinetics, Shane fay Rich Hicks.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Amazing human beings.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
And you know, anytime you visit with these guys about
why they started QC Kinetics, you really learn more about
just how much they can here about people. And if
you're out there struggling with joint pain, man, that's no
way to go through life. And so you'll you'll see
people in the waiting room at QC Kinetics in tears
just because they've come so far because QC Kinetics has
(15:14):
help them live a life that's pain free. When people
were like, no, only surgery, only drugs, those are your
only options, and QC Kinetics is like, no, no, We've
got this state of the art medical technology that is
going to help you turn your life around and get
you pain free. So, man, we just wanted to take
a minute to say thank you to QC Kinetics for
partnering with us and skin anything else we want to
(15:34):
say here about these guys. I mean, they're obviously phenomenal partners.
Now they're phenomenal partners. But also, man, don't you know
they got to feel good that they work in a
business where they help people feel great and start living
pain free. I love the stories of people that thought
they couldn't do anything anymore and then they go to
QC Kinetics and Shane in the gang over there and
get them fixed up and now they're back out on
(15:55):
the golf course, or they're out there doing long walks
and people starting jogging again. I think those are great story.
So this isn't an ad, but let's give them the
phone number. Anyways, let's just give people the phone number. Absolutely,
QC Kinetics the phone number, which is putting on the
spot because nine.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Eighty six ten.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Hold on, let me confirm that is exactly right, right, Yeah,
nine seven eighty six ten. You nailed it. Uh, that's
the number to call for the greatness of QC Kinetics said, Look,
this is not an advertisement. We just want to say
thank you to those guys people. But right now it's
time for this juicys hot.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
God.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Every come, stay on top in the shovel all right.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
For the last four or five weeks, I've been championing
the studio on Apple Plus. It's a TV show starring
Seth Rogan and is it good? Am I to believe
that one of you has finally dipped your foot into
the studio's waters.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
I did it.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
I did it.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
It was me, Ben Rogers, I did it and dope
in last Night?
Speaker 1 (17:01):
What about me? Did you do it? I have not yet?
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Yeah, thank you, say Worth asking you were watching the
movie with what was it?
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Father?
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Are you talking about? That's my boy? Disappointing so uh
disappointing the studio with Seth Rogen.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Uh, it is incredible. How many episodes have you seen?
Speaker 1 (17:23):
I just watched one, say No, and I did it
because my my wife fell asleep, and so I'm gonna
give her a chance to keep up with me on
this one. Yeah. Uh, and so because I want to
watch it with her, I think she's really gonna enjoy it.
But it is so it is produced so well, Like
it is just the cinematography alone is insane. Like there's
(17:44):
all these shots where you're like, wow, that's one long
shot the whole thing. How are you doing that? Like
it's so long, Like the whole series is like that. Yeah, wait,
it's it's each episode one shot. It's more than it's
they well, they have cuts, but like each scene is
a shot. Each scene it's nuts, man. And they do
these shots where they're driving around in a car and
(18:04):
you're like, okay, there's a camera on the windshield for this,
and then they get out of the car and walk
around and there's no camera on the car. I'm like,
how did you what was the deals? The guy just
holding on? That's probably the technology now they can do
that seamlessly. It's I think it's unbelievable. Like it's just
so well and it is funny and it is making
fun of Hollywood. Yeah, it is. How long are they
(18:27):
The first one was forty minutes, but every other one's
under thirty Oh that's great. Yeah, I would say I
don't know how it's gonna go moving forward, but I
would say after watching one episode, it definitely has a
chance to be one of the best shows I've ever watched.
I don't it'll you know, it's got like when you
watch the show and you're like, all right, that could
be like one of the top twenty top ten shows
I've ever seen. It could be. It could be that
(18:49):
good to feel as good as mash. I didn't really
it never was a fan of that, oh man, but
it is. It is really special. The acting, the casting
is awesome, the subject contentle Cranson's good, huh, Brian Cranston
is good. And man, it kind of lets you know
what it's like to work at a dictatorship. We're talking
about that the idea where as long as the big
(19:10):
boss is happy, everything else is fine, and so everyone
are trying to please the studiohead.
Speaker 7 (19:14):
Right.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
It's really good.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
So last night was episode five. I watched it, so
we're four out of five are really good.
Speaker 6 (19:21):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Episode four took a little dip in quality, but episode
five is back.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Again to being great.
Speaker 8 (19:26):
So just do it.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
That's all I'm saying, Like Nike, you just do it?
Wait what Time magazine? I think I've always thought that
they were a little full of themselves.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Okay, I like this rant every year time for Kevin's
yearly Time magazine rant.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
They are like they literally did put Hitler on the
cover of their magazines, Like that's happened before he was
a prominent figure exactly. So this year the one hundred
most Influential People of twenty twenty five. It's been announce already.
It's April of twenty twenty five. We've already announced it. Okay,
they do twenty five of them, not a hundred.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Oh my bad.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Sorry, Yeah, well okay, wait it's already We're already there
in April.
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Yeah, maybe they're kinda I don't really know why they
have a timeline that they know this on this it's
probably talking about over the last year.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Yeah, but really it's the hundred most influential people of
April last year to April of this year. Okay.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
But when I dive into it, I'm always surprised. I
just think they just find random people that they like
and then get someone to write an article about them.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Okay, Or did they just choose people that have like
a large following, so they would then blast out the
article there oh possibly that.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
It's possibly that, So coming up in a second, I
want to ask you, guys, if any of these people
influenced you, okay, at any time over the last five years.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
I'm interested because I wasn't moved. So uh oh, that's
coming to next Ben.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
And Skin Show ninety seven point one The Eagle. You know,
while we're doing shout outs and shout out to good
folks at Orchard Orchard dot com, we always tell you
about Orchard.
Speaker 8 (20:52):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
We were on a big call with those guys about
a month and a half ago, and I love what
they do. I love that we've had a lot of
listeners at checked out the Orchard program. I love that
our own Christina Ray is working with Orchard. They've been
with us for several years now and they are really
good partners and we do appreciate them. So you know
you've heard us talk about it. I mean, it doesn't
(21:13):
take long. Just go to Orchard dot com and start,
you know, going around there. I mean it's one get
that free home valuation. But they got a lot of
different programs on their website that we just don't have
time to talk about. You should go investigate it again.
Shout out to Orchard, good partners of the Ben and
Skin show. We appreciate their partnership and we think you
should show them some love. We got some Cowboys stuff
(21:34):
coming up here in about twenty minutes. It's the Cowboys Kerosene,
as KT likes to call it. We'll do a little
draft stuff and all that. But KT, you're getting us old,
primed and ready for Time Magazines one hundred most influential
People of the last year.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
Well, I don't know how they could just get one hundred.
There's so many people on the planet. So they just
cut it up into categories too, like artists for instance.
How about a guy who didn't release an album last year?
Sharon is he? Did he influence you in the last year?
Did he influence all?
Speaker 6 (22:05):
Right?
Speaker 1 (22:06):
I did? Okay, that's interesting that he's on this list.
I did recently see him doing his loop work with
the foot pedals and stuff on a late night show,
but it could have been from any show over the
last ten years. Wait has he been on the list before?
Because I feel like he was more influential when he
was on Game of Thrones. Oh no, Man, Scarlett Johansson.
(22:29):
I mean she's about to be in you know, Jurassic Park,
and yeah, she influences everyone's no, no, no, Scarlet Scarlett.
You know, I mean we've ignored the Woody Allen ties
with her. Just Scarlet. He made a good point. Scarlett
is Scarlet. Yeah, she was great in match Point. She
was great in the White Potus thing they did the
(22:51):
other d Yeah, here's three very likable people. I think
Adam Scott.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
Sence. Yes, that's influence. Yes, wait, so what is it?
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Kristin Bell always everything she does is great and you
minimize for getting Sarah Marshall.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
You can cap all over that movie.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Rashida Jones.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Why did you put them together?
Speaker 1 (23:09):
They're in the thing, they're the people. Yeah, that's on
the list. That's why they're together.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
But you could have put Edge year in with Kristin
Bell during the same I'm just.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Going down the thing.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Yeah, he is Kristin Wiggs on there.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
That don't rank them. They don't rank him too. That's
why they drive me nuts. They don't have any they
just here's a hundred people article. This was the year
and basically so angry. This was the year that Kristin
Wig was the influential one.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
How about how about this one pussy cat doll Nicole Scherzinger?
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Really, hey, but what has she done last year? And
the last year?
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I could not pick her out of a lineup of
pussy cat dolls.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
I couldn't either. Hosier actually get that one because he
had two good songs. Yep, what okay? So you move
those your icons. But wasn't I.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
As much as I like those new Hosier songs?
Speaker 1 (24:00):
I don't think they were as big as the song
you put out four years ago and everybody did the
take Me to True?
Speaker 9 (24:05):
Thank you?
Speaker 4 (24:05):
Then?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
I feel like this is a list from four years ago?
Speaker 9 (24:08):
Are you?
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Does it say twenty twenty five on it?
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (24:11):
I don't think it does. I don't think it does.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Can you send it to Christina to fact check? Send
it to me?
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Let me fact check it too, Mere check your email.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
I guessed anymore? I mean she didn't win? Is this?
Did Samo's Fire come out again?
Speaker 6 (24:23):
Now?
Speaker 3 (24:23):
She was really good in that weird movie that got
weirder as a substance?
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Yeah, I don't think so. Adrian Brody in his huge
nose and uh what what he was in that movie?
The beat Down. What's the movie I watched?
Speaker 3 (24:34):
It just called the Architect the Brutalist.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
I'm gonna I know what happened to him in the
alley in that movie. Yes, I'm gonna watch that tonight.
During the Maverick game, pretty good, Jalen hurts, what oh
you he won super Bowl? Give me one super Bowl?
You went the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (24:52):
You're in, You're in.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Okay, Let's move on to the Leaders or the Kelsey
brothers in this. No, I didn't see them. Actually, you
say the Leaders to skip the Let's go to Titans
where the Avitt brothers in it. These are Titans. Blake
Lively's had arguably her worst year on planet Earth, and
she's on here. She influenced. People do not like her. Yeah,
that's fair, although do we know I don't think we
(25:14):
have any finality on that. It's just her and the
other guy are just suing each other. It's like if
you guys would both go have a picnic and go
you know what, this is making us both look off.
Let me just say that the people that my wife
follows on TikTok feel like Blake Lively is in the
wrong because I hear it emanating from her phone. Okay,
they like that dude. They think that guy's hot.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
That guy has a major red flag in the fact
that after twenty seventeen he started a podcast about men
supporting feminism, which to me is like saying I have
done something wrong in the past.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Oh, it's kind of like saying that he's getting out
in front of you.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
Don't think of all the podcast topics that I think
as women want to hear a guy speak about feminisms.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Hold on, don't hold on?
Speaker 3 (25:58):
Is a n iHeart podcast?
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Might want to be very careful, all right, I don't
even though I work here. Let me guess one. They
don't know Eddie George not Warren Michaels, though he didn't
make it. Give him oh Sa Kwon Barkley uh no.
Airon McNair said they were Titans. Documentary came out rest
in peat What if a guy who died eleven years ago?
(26:22):
When did he? Have you seen that documentary? Yes, it's
pretty good. It's well, it's really poorly made, but it's interesting.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Nikki Glazer, it's her work at she works at a
frosting company.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
I think she looked good too. We should probably do
a commercial. YEP is that it snoop dog.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Wait what I think you got one from a few
years ago.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
I got in the middle today man, all right, coming
up next all the latest Cowboys news. All right, it's
the world famous Ben and Skin Show. Thank you for
rolling with us. We're about to get to Cowboys Kerosene.
We'll have that here momentarily. Do want to let you
know what's coming up is around the sports. We got
the most in anticipated movies of the summer. We got
the Today Game, and we've got the Benninskin wayback Machine,
(27:05):
NonStop fun action for you right here on ninety seven
to one the Eagle. But right now it's time for this.
You're all working cowboards. I want to talk about this.
No so good to talk about I want to talk
about it too. We don't have time. Let's do a
podcast about it later. Okay, they would love if you
(27:27):
guys could get some more podcasts up. We haven't put
enough uplate. Hey, don't talk about they. So the Titans
are going to take cam Ward at the first pick
in the draft. Finally some Titans news here on the show.
We've been waiting all year.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
This is why it's interesting because he was playing, uh well,
first of all, he is invited to the green room.
Shdor Sanders did not accept his invite to the you know,
live TV green room, so cocky, like, if you knew
you were going in the first round, you would just go.
Now he's not because he may not go. People are
scared of him.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
They should be. Do you hear they're retiring his number
at Colorado? Him man, Travis Hunter. I think he went
twelve and thirteen and finished eighth in the heighstman and
they're retiring his number. That's pretty great. I mean, you
know what, though college sports are so dumb, now, who cares.
It's a big It's a big circus. People talk about
Colorado more than they have in the last twenty years.
Speaker 9 (28:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Fair.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
So cam Ward's playing Fortnite last night and finding some
strangers that I have. Who's the top four wide receivers
in the league, and he goes Calvin Ridley number one,
then Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, then Traylon Burks. The first
and fourth guys are Titans players who no one talks about.
He's going number one.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
He's genius already. This guy's really smart. He is very interesting.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
Should sorry, Travis Hunter, Everyone thinks he's going two to Cleveland.
He told a team in an interview, or there's some
interview he did that basically said, I'll quit football if
you don't let me play wide receiver, in cornerback, let
me play one hundred percent both sides, I'll quit.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
That seems believable.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
That believable, But staying in the news there. Yeah, so
I don't know. He could slip. He could who knows
what will happened. Three.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
It's possible that the Giants would take Schue or Sanders.
I don't think that's likely. So oury buddy, Dane Brugler
at the Athletic he put out as big he always
does this. Eight days, it's seven, eight days to the draft.
Here's here's seven round mock draft, the full thing. So
here's what happened in the six round. We'll get to
that later, probably not on that podcast you're talking about,
(29:26):
do it the Titans podcast.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Ashton gent to the Jaguars at five. God, you didn't
make it to six. Make it to the Raiders at six,
good God. And if he didn't go there, he probably
goes to the Raiders at six or the Bears at ten.
So he's not I've settled along old Trevor Lawrence needs
as a top five pick running back. And again, it's
(29:49):
so important that the Cowboys won four games in five
weeks there in the in dol drums of last season.
That didn't matter at all, so they could establish Cooper
Rush and a Mike McCarthy and you know, environment a
culture that they had to maintain. Those are important wins.
You had to get Cooper Rush a contract to go
to Baltimore, and now you can't.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Get any of the guys you want. But that's good,
So those wins matter.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
Number nine, the Kellen Moore led Saints get a guy
by the name of Tetorohad McMillan, the wide receiver from Arizona. Yep,
that's number kind of number nine.
Speaker 6 (30:19):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Yeah, And again you won four out of five weeks
that didn't matter, so now you can't get the receiver
you want.
Speaker 5 (30:25):
You know what's crazy is looking at it, Ben, though,
I think they probably only could have gotten down to
like ten.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
So I don't know, dude, if they had lost all
of those games, they would only move up two spots.
I'm pretty drunk on Tetroha McMillan, but I don't know,
you know, he goes there.
Speaker 5 (30:40):
I think I was talking to my buddy John Michoda
and saw it about this today crazyse guys on the
One Star Cowboys podcast, and they were like, I don't
think the Cowboys would like reach for a wide receiver
if it wasn't one of those two top guys, because
there is like a drop off. But Dane's got them
at number twelve. Taking you guys can just ask your friends.
And you guys are tech Longhorns fan. It's a corner,
(31:01):
no wide receiver. Matthew Golden Long Horns. The problem with
Golden is that he's five foot eleven. He's so they
better not take a If they take a five eleven
wide receiver with the twelfth pig of the draft, I
will taste my own vomit.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
I think he's gonna be there in the second or
third round too. So they need a corner, they need
a running back, and they need a receiver, and they
probably need a defensive tackle.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
But I would put that fourth biggest need they is
right guard too.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Yeah, they probably need a guard to But I feel
like if the top receivers and running backs are gone,
go ahead and get the corner. Well, which one, because
that's the problem there is like, what's the corner from Texas?
And he supposedly like more of a slot corner.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
I think he can play all He's your Jordan Lewis
replacement if you get him.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
John A. Barron is his name.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
Let's see where did Dane have him going? Because I
think that's a it's it's it's a guy they should
be interested in, for sure. I think he's going a
little a little further down the list, so into the twenties.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Yeah, twenty four trade back.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
Uh, Matthew Golden, there's just such a big drop off
between him and McMillan, and McMillan could be No, everyone's
scared to say he could be Mike Evans.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Dude, he's better, like not better than Mike Evans, but
he like he does more than Mike Evans does. Do
not take a five eleven wide receiver. I almost feel
like Travis Hunter's too small. Yeah, he never had sixty
catches in a college season.
Speaker 6 (32:26):
You know.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
Matthew Golden scares the but Jesus out of me. I'm
a Packers fan. They pick at twenty three, I don't
want them messing around with Matthew Golden. Yeah, he scares me.
He might be good. That's what he has now. In
the second round, though, that's where they get the running
back on Dane's little thing here, and it is a
guy by the name of Quinn Shawn Judkins.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Let's go.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
He's the fifth running back for Dane in terms of
you know, he's one of the two Ohio state running
backs both Judkins and the other guy's name is Travion Henderson.
Travion Henderson's better and he's like, you know, more juicy.
Both of those guys were thirty day visits to the Star.
They've they've they've met Jerry. You know, they've probably tasted
(33:04):
the Star cafeteria food.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
So it's very steaks and correct. Wide receiver running back
first two rounds is and I think it's a boring draft,
but that's pretty sexy for the Cowboys wide receiver and
running back. Is he the best player you've ever watched
tape of named Quinn Sean?
Speaker 6 (33:19):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Yeah, see, let's go. God, this sucks, well, you know,
any of the big names you wanted, It's gonna suck
for a lot of teams. It's a boring draft.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
I'm not gonna sit here and tell you it's great
that one of the top stories is will Shador Sanders
get drafted and he has cowered out of not going
to the green room.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
Dude, you got to sit in there like Aaron Rodgers
didn't just take it right. So there you go. There's right.
Give me, give me a sports tease that will carry
us over for four minutes. What's the next, Well, there
was a huge story in.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
DFW in the sports world that we did not even
cover yesterday because we're too swamped with MAVs crisis mismanagement.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
We'll discuss that next. All right, that's an next for
Oh yes, it is the Ben and Skin Show ninety
seven point one The Eagle. Thank you for hanging out
with us today. This segment is brought to you by
the delicious food at her Toto Barbecue.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Yes, a legendary eight one seven staple.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
They've been a sponsor of the Texas Rangers with two
locations inside Globe Life and then their latest location is
in the two one four at the Dallas Farmers Market.
We love it. We actually did a Friday afternoon show
there one time and it was so much fun. I
really dig that they carry a couple of different Rollertown
beer works on tap there. That's the brewery that Ben
and I are partners in, but man, it's their own
(34:32):
family spent on Mexque is so delicious. I love recommending
the brisket tostatas to people because I don't think anything
better than that. So make it a part of your plans,
whether he heck, do it for dinner tonight. It is
her Toto Barbecue. The most anticipated movies of twenty twenty
five are going to be discussed right here in about
(34:53):
twenty minutes, but right now it's time for this.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
Now it's cool around the spot, k t queints as
all the sports.
Speaker 5 (35:04):
Yeah yeah, we're still covered up in some map stuff. Yesterday,
so Tyron Smith announced that he is going to sign
a one day contract with the Cowboy It's actually a
one year deal and they're going to move him to
the retired list, but a contract with the Cowboys in
retire And today he had a press conference. Can we
tell my computer up here? I want to play this
audio clip right here. This is Tyront at his press
(35:26):
conference today.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
I also want to recognize Dak Prescott, one of the
best teammates I ever had. Dak cares deeply about everyone
in the locker room, and he's more than a teammate.
He's a lifelong friend and I always have you back.
You always be qb one to me, all right.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
Dach was wearing a hat that said Lineman, which is
the Landman sequel. I think it's about the Wichita Lineman
who's playing woting that he was wearing a hat that
said Lineman said Lineman. Yeah, I wonder what that is.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
You know, there's something that's also been happening because this
happened Zach Martin about a month ago. Jerry does the
thing that he does whenever a cowboy legend retires. It's
one of my biggest regrets. I'll take it to my
grave that we were unable to win a Super Bowl
for you. Well, she should probably lower that too, that
we were unable to get to a conference championship game
with you.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
And then he tells the l Paso story. Yeah, and
goes on and on. Steven goes, uh, that is crazy.
When you had when you had Tyron, Zach and Travis,
you had such an incredible nucleus for your offensive line
that everything should work. You have three of the best
(36:37):
to ever play their position. You should be able to run,
you should be able to pass, you should be able
to contend. Og Ron Leary, Well yeah, in his uh,
in Jerry's mind, because he says this often, it did work.
They were top six seven winning his teams. It's a
twenty ten or something like that. Like to them, it's
(36:59):
like we were good and they were, you know what,
they kind of were, but had a good run until
Jason Garrett refused to manage the clock.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
The like make it like the conference Shipture game. Just embarrassing.
But Tyron awesome, great career, a Hall of famer. Clearly
he played thirteen seasons, so he won't have any of
the longevity questions.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
I think Zach Martin will be a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
But again, they still have a bunch of old school
people voting you got to play for ten years.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Some guys rarely play ten years anymore. And you're you're
personally trying to keep Travis Frederick out of the Hall
of Fame, is what you're saying.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
I don't think you gotta have a bit of some
more longevity.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Amazing.
Speaker 5 (37:39):
You have to have opposition, otherwise the segments, you know,
wouldn't be good. Would you come in here and agree
on everything all day?
Speaker 1 (37:44):
I can't wait for you to take that opinion to
Travis's charity event, I know hosting that.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Oh no, yeah, yeah, uh no, he absolutely should be,
and especially since they don't put centers in anymore.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
Wilt Chamberlain's not in. Bill Russell's not in. Kareem Abdulji
bar tiring a soft smoking guy.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
I feel like making him go to a press conference
is not really anything that he or the media wanted
was why was that audio from him down the hall?
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Well, that does it?
Speaker 5 (38:15):
Soft smoking guy? He's speaking directly into the mic. Yep, okay,
but this is just the same thing that happened with
Zach Martin like four weeks ago. Come on in, you
have a thing that you wrote. Jerry and Steven are
there and laugh.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Dak's got a funny hat. Well story, Dax's wearing a
funny hat of a TV show. Or maybe it's just
supporting a position. I think he said linebacker for Zach,
which is weird. The Stars have ust sixth straight the
regular season finales. Tonight, they will play the Avalanche in
the playoffs. The Rangers won last night and then Savannah
Banana's News. They're gonna hap be on ESTPN, so god,
they're on so much. They're on so much. There's a
(38:51):
guy in a banana costume and he's dancing, and I'm like,
what is this?
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Is this east bounding down?
Speaker 1 (38:56):
What's happening on TV? Funny? Actually? All right, it's kind
of fast placed like a TV sports segment. Really, we
have a lot of time stars of keep losing. All right,
here's what the rangers said. All right, coming up next,
the most anticipated movies of the summer. You don't want
to miss that. That's next right here on Eagle Bit,
your daily dose of afternoon laughs with Ben skin Kt
and Christina. And right now it's time for this movie talk.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
Alright, Yeah, there it is movie talk at you. There's
a movie ticketing site called fan Dango.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
They're great. I've got the app. I want to buy
movie tickets. I just get on there.
Speaker 5 (39:37):
They're awesome. They surveyed a ton of moviegoers. So what
are you looking forward to watching with the people? And
they're whale for and we'll see in this summer. So
here are your ten movies that are most anticipated for
the summer. You'll notice that a lot of these are
not that unique or creative.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Superheroes sequels, Spinal Tap sequel not yet, but you know
what that should be on there? Absolutely what does that
come out?
Speaker 3 (40:04):
Like July ish or some incredible The Avengers.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
Number ten, Freaky Friday, It's right, Lindsay Lohannah's back.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Is she the mom? No, Jamie Lee Curtis is maybe
in this one. I don't know. Yeah, I mean I
doubt she's the teenage daughter anymore. We're gonna do Freaking
Your Friday. Number nine, Lelo and Stitch is No, it's Lelo.
I thought it was. I never saw it. That's what
Julie thought to, right, Julie Dogilo Number eight How to
(40:39):
Train Your Dragon, which has already been done. They're doing
live action, makes some tough stuff, now, dude.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
That Okay, I know it's a Pixar movie, but that
movie will make you cry.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
I saw that.
Speaker 9 (40:49):
I saw that in three D with my son. Did
you really Yeah, okay, I mean when he was a
young Yeah. Oh, I saw it at like thirty. So
number seven twenty eight years later, Number twenty eight years miscongeniality, No.
Twenty eight years later. That's the name of the movie.
Zombie eight years after the movie.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Zombie. I don't even know, but it's like alien zombie
type people. The first one was twenty boil thing, I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Yeah, twenty eight days later, Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Yeah, got you number six from the World of John Wick.
Oh yeah, it's that gal Mattle arena with on a
Day Armis, who is always on a day arm In
Armis with Tom Cruise. They're going on copters together. Yeah,
choppers is what most people would call them. I like that.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
I saw a preview for this. It looks like something
that people might like.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
It was good because she's hot. Yeah, that's the best
part about it. Anything she's in, it's gonna be good.
Speaker 5 (41:51):
I am interested in Thunderbolts number five Thunderbolts. Thunderbolts, No,
that's Thunderstruck Thunderbolts is it is a Marvel movie out.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
It's a kind of like just a little different. Maybe
they're kind of not bad guys.
Speaker 5 (42:07):
Maybe they've had it rough, Maybe they didn't have a
glamorous lifestyle like all of them.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
I don't really don't know. I don't add like I
know the Marvel stuff. It makes Marvel people mad. It's
like talking politics, So you don't know what it's about.
But you want to see it a little bit because
it's got Florence Pew in it and Sebastian Stan He's
great and everything. That's not a real name, Sebastian Stan.
Speaker 9 (42:24):
Yes it is.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
It's got Julia Louis Dreyfus in it. I don't want
to see one of the movies you've mentioned, well, Fandango
people do, Ben? Yeah, Ben?
Speaker 3 (42:32):
Uh, Superman's back out, Christopher Reeve.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
You know this Superman movie I think is going to
be Uh sounds like you know, No, the star is
some guy. You guys are very familiar with the work
of David Korn's wet.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Chords are wet David Corn.
Speaker 7 (42:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (42:53):
The thing I know about this is the Guardians of
the Galaxy. Guy is directing it. James Gunn Pam's old wife,
my old husband in the office. Uh, number three, Ben,
Mission Impossible, the final Reckon.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Let's go I'm in on that. That one got you excited? Yeah,
I mean I'll go see that.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
Does it have Thandy Newton in it?
Speaker 1 (43:12):
He does his own stunts. Kevin, of all these have listed,
that's the one that got your lips wet. I'm in sir, dude.
Pretty interesting.
Speaker 8 (43:20):
This one.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Number two, The Fantastic Four.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
No, this is good, dude. It's got Pedro Pascal in it.
You can't go wrong with Pedro Pascal.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
I'm fine, man, see the thing? What do you mean
you're fine? I don't need to see The Fantastic Four?
Why not too many superhero movies? Didn't they do it
once before with Michael Chickliss. Yeah that didn't go well.
Speaker 6 (43:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
Number one Jurassic World Rebirth Scarlett Johanson.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
I can't wait.
Speaker 5 (43:45):
It's gonna be can't wait either, Hike. You gonna go
watch it in one of those theaters that has vibrating chairs?
Speaker 1 (43:50):
Yes, yes, too, asking her that you can't look at her,
grind your teeth, peak up to see what she's wearing,
and ask her that you leaned up to see what
she was wearing through the glass. You can't do that.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
Who makes those chairs? Sybian?
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Sorry about him, Christina Sylvian, Sorry about Katie.
Speaker 9 (44:08):
I think you should apologize for skins joke.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
All right, all right there you at the theater? Yeah,
see at the theaters? Yeah.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Well, good clothes, good end.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
Ben and Skin Show ninety seven point one The Eagle,
Thank you for rocking with us today. We're gonna go
into the wayback machine. Uh, coming up here shortly with
some classic audio. Now, we got tickets that we like
to give away from time to time, and we got
some good ones. We got a show coming up at
Dosaki's Pavilion. You guys know what that concert is, do
(44:40):
you know? Christina Pantuoa September third, at Dosaki's Pavilion. We're
gonna give it away using the iHeart app. There's a
talkback feature on there, and when you click on that
talkback you can leave messages.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
The third person that leaves.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
Their name, their phone number, their email address, and the
answer to this question from earlier in the show. Katie
has been begging all of us to watch a new
show on Apple. I believe it's on Ben admitted that
he finally watched it and we talked about it. We
talked about it three p thirty.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
What is that show?
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Third person that can tell us the name of the
show that Katie's been begging us to watch on Apple
that Ben finally got around the watching. You are going
to win those tickets to see Pantera. See you'd better
be listening because if not, you're going to miss out
everybody wants to go to that Panterra show. How cool
is that?
Speaker 3 (45:33):
But right now it's time for this. It's time to
play the Today game.
Speaker 6 (45:40):
It's a game.
Speaker 4 (45:40):
It's Tonic Today.
Speaker 1 (45:41):
Let's go take it away, you jack wagons. This is
the Today game for today. April sixteenth, twenty twenty five.
We'll start with Selena, who would have been fifty four.
Bum bum.
Speaker 9 (46:01):
He would only be fifty four.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
That's so sad. And there are still just as many
murals of her oak Cliff on the back of trucks
as there were like twenty five years ago. It's insane,
which I'd like that more than Lee Harvey Oswald murals.
I mean, they're both tragedies.
Speaker 9 (46:19):
Lenny Heart's go ahead, Christine. How old was Selena when
she died?
Speaker 1 (46:25):
Really? Twenties? Really? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (46:28):
You know the exact age? Twenty four? Yeah, yeah, cause
it was three decades ago.
Speaker 6 (46:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
In the movie, I thought she was like fifteen. That movie,
by the way, pretty good. J Lo awesome. Jayla was
awesome in it. That's really what kind of launched her
career into the next stratosphere. Did you see j Lo
in the movie You Turn? I did bad movie, nice performance.
It looks good in Gary Busey in that Uh easier,
(46:58):
said Nick Nolty. It's nosin. Yeah, yeah, he was a
sergeant Utah. Yep, guys, Bill Belichick seventy three, A little
bit of Taylor, that's my guy. We were wondering about that,
and uh that was about it.
Speaker 6 (47:21):
Or not.
Speaker 1 (47:21):
Anyone will hold you everything.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
I know, coach, what do you see?
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Your credit have nothing? I don't have an explanation. Nod
so washed. I thought he had a chance to be
the Cowboys coach. Dude, Now he's coaching at North Carolina
with his girlfriend out there on the field with him.
He's fishing his keys out of his pocket so she
can go move his car.
Speaker 9 (47:43):
Doesn't that first clip like make sense though, as to
why he's with her, Why he's got nothing going on anymore?
Speaker 1 (47:49):
Yeah, turned into a caretaker. I guess I'll bring in
the coach North Carolina so my son can take it
over and I can vang this twenty four year old
guys chance the Rappers thirty two, A my lady about that? Damn?
What happened to him? You know, he's just waiting for
(48:12):
some stuff to pop, waiting for some stuff to pop,
you know, what they that about anyone? Hello, guy, your
age shital You could say that about anyone. I love it.
Anyone that you haven't heard from it a while. What
are they doing? Well, They're just waiting for some stuff
to pop. It's an old friend of fifteen years. He's
(48:34):
just waiting for some stuff to pop. I challenge every
listener to bring this up in a conversation with someone. Hey,
whatever happened to your cousin, Joel? I think he's just
waiting for some stuff to pop. Guys, Kareem Kareem abdul
Jabbar is seventy eight. Kareem abdul Jabbar.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
I'm sorry, son, but you must have me confused with
someone else. My name is Roger Murdock.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
I'm the cole pilot my dad's good season tickets.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
I think you should go back to your seat. No
joy by Clarence.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
Oh, he's not bothering anyone.
Speaker 10 (49:07):
Let him stay here.
Speaker 9 (49:08):
I thank you gradies, But my dad says you don't
work hard enough on defense except during the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
The hell I don't listening to tell your old man
that dragged Waltman and neure rope and down the court
for forty eight minutes.
Speaker 1 (49:22):
So good. It's pretty damn good. Uh, let's see Martin
Lawrence is sixty. Did he produced her song? Hopefully? I
just remember the time, going back to Kareem that he
tried to teach John Stamos how to shoot on full
house because John Stamos is a horrible basketball player. Oh,
I thought he found his sweet shot, his sweet spots,
(49:44):
like fifteen feet out. It's pretty good, John Stamos. Yeah,
it's kid mid range Stamos. Finally, it's National Eggs Benedict Day.
It's an egg in a cup. That was fun. I mean,
what time did everything even end?
Speaker 8 (49:57):
Who said?
Speaker 4 (49:58):
Ooh?
Speaker 1 (49:59):
He was so f Now I know your Bill is
ready for some of his ease. That role is off
the chain, baby, you're ready to fit the numbers with
cheez me? What up there? Yeah, there's the Today Game.
Good luck to all or an omens. Coming up in
the five o'clock hour, we've got the Scroll Patrol, We've
(50:22):
got a MAVs King's preview, we got Gail King clapping
back on Space haters. But coming up next, Gary Busey
in the Benin skin wayback Machine. Next, all right, coming
up in the five o'clock hour, the Benin Skin Show,
Ben Rogers, Jeff skin Wade, Christina k Ray, Little Baby
Cornbread Ray, and Kevin Gaety Turner. The Scroll Patrols coming
up a MAVs King's playoff preview. The play in tournament
(50:44):
starts tonight. Gail King claps back at Space haters. That's
all coming up. But right now it's time for.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
This old boos.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
It's time to go into the Ben and Skin Show
way back. That's a crowd.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
Yeah, it's so good. It reminds me of Close Encounters
of the Third kinda.
Speaker 1 (51:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (51:04):
We have to start with a bit of a setup
for this because Ben had a birthday a few years ago.
Speaker 1 (51:10):
It's twenty twenty one. What you didn't tell me that?
Speaker 5 (51:13):
And Ben's a November birthday, So why are you doing
something from November. I'm not doing something for April, I promise, yep,
but uh, for Ben's November birthday. I went to the
World of Cameo and got him this from adult film
star Alexis Texas.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
Hi, Big Ben, it's your favorite Big Booty. Alexis Texas
and Christina skin and Katie said that you were addicted
to my work.
Speaker 6 (51:42):
Is that true?
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Big Ben?
Speaker 1 (51:43):
Answer?
Speaker 6 (51:44):
I hope it is.
Speaker 1 (51:47):
That big footy, you know what you like. I just
wanted to.
Speaker 9 (51:54):
Wish you a happy fiftieth big Ben, and give you
a special gift.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
I want you to choke me. You think you can
choke me, big boy? I hope, so go Cowboy. I
looked at it. Christina was cringing.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
It's so great, girl, it's so cringe worthy.
Speaker 1 (52:20):
What are you talking about. That's the future mother of
my kids. Future mother, I mean maybe kids. I know
cats out of the picture. But I want you guys
to come in here and sit down, Alexas, Texas lat
There's room for everyone. It's like a love seat.
Speaker 5 (52:37):
And now you know, been's the type of guy that
will get you know what I'm thinking. For the sake
of time, I think I should carry it over because
this we have to. Let's discuss a couple of things.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
Okay. One, why the choking thing, Ben? So, that was
a violent thing for me to say. When I saw
the script on cameo, I shared in full candor, because
that's what we do on the show. I pulled the
curtain back that a request was made of me at
one point in my life that I declined. The choking
(53:10):
request was made. I declined, just felt like what was
the context? It didn't feel like true love. Oh so
when you guys were recording and he was looking for
all the wrong places, looking for love at the village.
Speaker 5 (53:30):
So that's why that request was in there. The go Cowboys,
I thought was just a funny sign off, because how
do you end something like that if you're gonna have
the choke request in there? I thought after the script
of it said go cowboys, she was these are fun guys.
She is definitely probably some San Marcus gal uh huh.
You know, she probably went to Texas State.
Speaker 6 (53:53):
Well.
Speaker 5 (53:53):
Ben's been known to fall in love with things for
short amounts of time. We've seen him play Minecraft until
six am, going to show up to the job tired
because he stayed up on that, and then you know,
and never play Minecraft again. After those couple of weeks,
men got really into cameo and coming up next, I'll tell.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
You what he created. And this is the anniversary of
this creation from four years ago. Incredible love it. So
I went to Andrew's American Pizza Kitchen last night in
Plano to scoop dinner for the fam, and everybody was happy.
We got a deep Dish Chicago Pizza. I got a
Brooklyn style pizza. There was chicken parmesan for Dez Maya
(54:33):
got some noodles. I mean, everybody was happy. The food
is delicious. Voted is one of the best pizza places
in all of DFW by DMN readers. They said it
is the best pizza in town. And hey, they be
knowing five different styles of pizza. Great bar, great beer
on tap, including Rollertown Beer Works. Ben and I his brewery.
We're proud of that. And it's a great place to
watch the game. If you're gonna go watch MAVs tonight,
(54:54):
my wise man as we'll go watch it. Andrew's American
Pizza Kitchen impressed it in Plano rather at Preston and
Plano Parkway. Now with the pickup of what we were
just jamming on, here's tizzle. Yeah, we told you and
played for you.
Speaker 5 (55:06):
The Alexis Texas cameo a birthday present from the show
to Ben back in twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
It was his November birthday twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (55:14):
Okay, and then we probably had a little fun with
that cameo for months, But then Ben really got into cameo.
He started like buying some random people, and then he
fed the script from Alexis Texas. And I know this
because I had to find the script that I sent
her a copy and email it to Ben, the script
(55:34):
from the Alexis Texas cameo that we played in the
previous segment, and then for like six hundred bucks, got
Gary Busey to do it.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
Okay, how much did you pay Alexis Texas?
Speaker 1 (55:46):
It was like seventy five bucks? Okay, yes, did you
get anything extra out of it? Nah? Really she was
seventy five bucks. Gary Busey was I think five point
fifty five point fifty. That's probably about right on scale.
And his ass is not worth it. Ye, But she's
been in or movies. But the caliber of the film, well,
oh well, it depends who you are. Yeah, what you're
(56:08):
looking for. I mean he was chet Steban and Rookie
of the Year. It's hard to wash that away. Has
she ever done anything with Johnny Utah, not that I
know of, Not that I know of Johnny sins Okay,
I believe so. I fell for him one time.
Speaker 5 (56:23):
April sixteenth, twenty twenty one, the four year anniversary of
the Gary Busey cameo right here on ninety seven to
one at the Eagle, the home of the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 7 (56:33):
Yeah, hello there, this is from Ben Rogers. Hey, big Ben,
Big Ben. Well, this is Gary Buse, one of your
favorite performers. They tell me Christine Skinning KT said you
were addicted to my work and you imperson.
Speaker 1 (56:49):
Ain't me now or what? Okay?
Speaker 7 (56:52):
The magic of this is your purpose is wonderful. Your
purpose is fantastic.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
That's not in the script. We're officially off. Yeah, if
you hear us laughing, I'm playing audio from our show.
Speaker 5 (57:02):
Okay, so he's off script now, which is about he
did a pretty good job for twenty seconds that he
got off and.
Speaker 7 (57:10):
The favorite things you have are good to hold on
to him right down and remember because the favorite things
is really a part of you. Your favorite things, you're
a part of you. She didn't say this, that's what
is everybody what now? They tell me you've been around
the song fifty times, fifty times around the sun.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 7 (57:30):
That made you're halfway two one hundred.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
Think you about that? All the fun you're gonna have
what huh?
Speaker 7 (57:37):
I'm going to give you a special gift from my
heart to your heart by singing to you a very
special song that comes to you one day out of
the year.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
We should know that Alexis Texas was not asked to
record a song.
Speaker 7 (57:51):
Right your birthday, Happy fifty Oh.
Speaker 9 (57:58):
So he's empor tunes this birthday, Happy.
Speaker 1 (58:10):
Day, big Ban, Happy bird in the day, big Man.
Speaker 11 (58:20):
You see this getting eighty part of this too, Happy
birthday being, Happy birthday, been, Happy birthday, birthday, birthday Man,
Happy birthday.
Speaker 1 (58:36):
Big band, Big Band's coming around the band, get it? Okay,
I got one more thing to say. Good cowboys worth dollars. Yeah,
I mean it wasn't the gift the gifts forever. I
(58:59):
think those were thout dollars. That was incredible. But he
didn't he didn't say choked me. He didn't do the
choke me stuff, which I was hoping for, and that
was a that was a better economy.
Speaker 8 (59:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
And you know who else didn't do it was Taizon
day when he didn't do the choke me big Ben stuff.
Speaker 3 (59:15):
I was very disappointed.
Speaker 1 (59:17):
The Chocolate rain kid didn't do it.
Speaker 5 (59:19):
So uh yeah, there it is another successful trip into
the wayback machine.
Speaker 3 (59:23):
That was great, Kevin, so good. What do you have
planned for the future.
Speaker 5 (59:29):
Well, I really want to talk about tonight's MAVs and
Kings games. Yeah here.
Speaker 1 (59:34):
All right, coming up next, MAVs King's preview, and the
Scroll Patrol all coming away, all coming your way. Obviously,
playing tournament action happening tonight on the Eagle hasn't been
really what most MAVs fans are talking about, but there
is playoff backs considered, playoff basketball, playing tournament's plays basketball.
That's tonight MAVs Kings, and then the Scroll Patrol next.
(59:57):
All that's coming up next on the Eagle. Before we
get there, talk about Oh yes, it is the world
famous Ben and Skin show, and it is a MAVs
game day, game night, MAVs Kings happening tonight, the play
in Skin is happening. And I can't help but wonder
if the MAVs have anything left in the tank. Emotionally,
They've been so resilient all season long. They've overcome things.
(01:00:19):
But I feel like Jason Kidd deserves a ton of
credit for that. But I feel like they've compartmentalized. They've
been like, look, all that's noise, Let's just ignore the
noise that's just out there. Happening in the universe. Let's
focus on this game. But now the noise is too
loud to me. The noise was so loud because there
Luca Doncris was crying in their own arena, watching a
montage of his first six and a half years with
(01:00:41):
the MAVs, and then he went out and put forty
five on the MAVs. The whole stadium cheering for Luca.
That's got to be an odd sensation for a team
to go through, and like you can't compartmentalize or hide
from it at that point, like it's in your face loud.
And then even if they had overcome that, now the
biggest MAVs news in the universe is the press conference
from Cohen Rick Welts. So again that's news at a
(01:01:03):
high volume, and so it would be totally understandable if
emotionally the Mavericks were just drained by Now, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
I think all of that is fair.
Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
Again, we're not going to see until the ball is
tipped in the air, right, You're gonna know within the
first quarter. We're honestly within the first four or five
minutes if the MAVs are up for this game, Like
I really think you're going to know. I think everything
you said about the Lucas situation is accurate. But the
one counter I would put out to that is that
(01:01:32):
then two days later, Anthony Davis played probably his second
best game as a Maverick. However, he played it against
a Toronto team that was only playing seven guys, and
he was covered by Scotty Barnes who's about three inches
shorter than him. So, right, there's levels to all of this.
And then I thought, okay, so the Mavericks got that game,
(01:01:53):
and then they rested their guys, so that you go Friday,
you go Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, four days for PJ.
Washington Junior and Anthony Davis and you know, Derek Lively
the second and these guys to kind of, you know,
get there s ready and get ready for a playoff game.
But I think ultimately yesterday was just another really poorly
(01:02:16):
received Maverick move. Really in the universe. We talked about
this off the start of the show. And so if
you're a guy on this team, you go to your
hotel room, right, You're not gonna go out in Sacramento.
You're gonna, you know, have dinner with your team and
your your family, you or your team family, and then
(01:02:36):
get ready for a playoff game, and then you go
back to your room and you get on the internet.
And I don't know that I saw anything out there
and on the internet that was supportive of what happened
with the Mavericks yesterday. It just doubled and tripled down
on all the negative energy and all the angst that
is surrounding this team's fandom. And you know what, honestly,
(01:02:58):
if they were going to put it all together, I
think it's probably better that they have to play this
game on the road and not in their own building. Right,
that's crazy, crazy? Then, what a wild turn of events.
So it's advantageous to have a late start on the
West Coast. I think about how weird that is. I
agree with you, but I think ultimately, look, the MAVs
(01:03:19):
are underdogs in this game. They're not expected to win
this game. They're not favored in this game. The one
way they would win this game is if Anthony Davis
goes ham. Yeah, he's the best player in this game,
right on either team. This is the best player. How
healthy is he? I don't know, has he been playing
hurt through all of this just to try to help
the cause. You know, that's that's possible. I don't know
(01:03:41):
if he's one hundred percent, but if that would be
the one caveat where I'd say, Okay, there may be
something here. If he just goes straight, I'm the best
player here mode. If he delivers the game he delivered
against Atlanta, I think they will win so long as
everybody rides with him. Like that's a great unknown, right,
(01:04:03):
But I do think that if he plays the way
he played against Atlanta, I think his teammates will ride
with him. I think they'll feed off of that. They
will feed off of Anthony Davis's excellence. And I also
think a guy like PJ. Washington Junior, you know, I was.
I went back yesterday and read the McMahon article from
(01:04:23):
the day that the Mavericks played the Lakers, and you know,
there's different sublinks you can click on the previous stories,
and I forgot that when PJ. Washington Junior kind of
addressed the crowd through the media and just said, man,
can y'all not kill it with this fire Nico stuff,
Like we're here playing for y'all, Like, can y'all not
(01:04:43):
get with us? And I think about him, and I
think about standing on business, and I think the way
he goes about his his stuff, And so I think
if Anthony Davis shows up and is a big presence,
I think PJ. Washington Junior will feed off of that.
I think a guy like Spencer Dinwiddie, who's been through
a lot, will feed off of that. I think Derek
Lively the second is always going to be ready to play.
(01:05:04):
I think a guy like Caleb martin Man, he couldn't
be any more removed from all of the chaos of
the Mavericks. And the one more thing I would say,
you know who I thought played better against the Lakers
than maybe anybody was Max Christy. He had a great
stretch in there. So I could see a scenario where
if Anthony Davis shows up and is a big presence,
(01:05:27):
guy's feet off of that and then suddenly we have something.
But I think we're going to figure it out here
in the first four or five minutes of the game.
What the Mavericks have in that taint tonight right. I
worry about them not having enough playmaking from the point
guard position that's there. A lot of it's going to
come down to Dinwiddie and sometimes Dinwiddy looks like one
of the best players on the planet, and sometimes he doesn't. Yeah,
(01:05:49):
and that's you know, that's fair, I think. And which
which Dinwiddie are we going to get?
Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
Well, the pregame is going to start tonight at eight thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
Is that right?
Speaker 3 (01:05:57):
But uh yeah thirty pregame right here on the Eagle
coming out next.
Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
One of our favorite segments to do in less than
four minutes, the Scroll Patrol.
Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
You don't want to miss this the funniest songs from
the Internet.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
Next is the Ben and Skin Show Nice some point
one day, Eagle, Thank you for hanging out with us today.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
Rollertown beer Works is the sponsor of this segment. That's
the brewery up there in Solina that Ben and I
are partners, and and we have something really special happening
the next two weeks. Now, let's focus on what is
going on on Saturday, because Ben, we want everybody up
north to join us out at a number of locations
for what we're calling our Sumo Crawl. Yeah, we got
(01:06:37):
a big sumo wrestling tournament, our annual sumo wrestling tournament
coming up at Rollertown, not this weekend, but next weekend.
So this Saturday night, Skin, you and I are gonna
jump into an Alba Limo bus, a party bus. We're
gonna pack it with sumo wrestlers, and we're gonna stop
by four different bars and restaurants in the Prospers Salona area.
We're gonna go by the Gin. We're gonna go by
(01:06:58):
the Tavern on Broadway. Those are both on Broadway and
downtown Prosper The Gin great spot, legendary spot. Mike pettis
the owner there. The Tavern is the new spot on
the block. It's awesome. And then we're gonna stop by
two other spots out there that are both in Salina,
The Nook, which is in Light Farms. Anthony Morel is
the owner there, and he also owns Heyday, which is
on the Square in downtown Salina. So we're gonna go
(01:07:20):
four different spots, stop by with sumo wrestlers, handout flyers,
buy a bunch of beers, and then take everyone back
to Rollertown for the post sumo crawl party with brand
new funk. It's gonna be great again. You can see
you some sumos and drink you some beer on us.
So we'll see out there this weekend. But right now
it's time for.
Speaker 10 (01:07:37):
This oh yeah school, the j yeah thins on, this
scowling looking at big trolluckbong and this.
Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
Snake Yeah school, What is it? I just said, scroll patrol, patrol.
I like it how that guy keeps saying patrol? All right.
Speaker 3 (01:08:08):
I use the Internet better than anyone else. I'm good
at scrolling.
Speaker 1 (01:08:10):
I find a lot of things on social media that
my colleagues here Skin, Kati and Christina don't find. Christine
only sees posts about puppy dogs, Skin only sees posts
about noodle documentaries and old pieces of digital audio equipment.
Kat only see stuff about Dave Matthews. And So I
am out there finding things like muck Bong and liver
king and really cool songs that are obscure and unknown
(01:08:34):
by startup bands and performers. And I've been bringing some
unique performers to the radio here on the Eagle, guys
that would never get radio play. And each week we
listen to these new songs that I'm bringing to the
party by obscure artists, and we decide which one is
the best. Now, the reigning champion is a guy named
World Piece Jesus. He has a song called I'm So Grateful.
(01:08:54):
Let's take a listen to that. I'm sorry, this is
I Believe in Myself. Okay, Yeah, got a pleased.
Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
Rock of good five shot combined with fun bombs and
positivity gle lore whoa.
Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
Five Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
But this song with the blood of the Tough is
so much I got it up in my bloodlod loun loud. Okay,
So which song is that by him? I Believe in myself? Okay?
Speaker 3 (01:09:27):
So I came with another World Peace Jesus. Oh, okay, okay,
I didn't realize that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:32):
Sorry, okay, No, you're fine, okay. So World Peace Jesus
has a chance to knock himself off the mountaintop because
I came back with another one. So are these whole
songs from his new record? So anyone can create a
