Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ah, Yes, it is the world famous Ben and Skin Show.
Happy Friday, everybody. I hope you have awesome plans this weekend.
We have noticed that some of our ratings are up,
which is good. We love getting good ratings. We love
that so many people are listening to our podcast, people
are streaming more all of those things. It's pretty damn
exciting and we're getting good feedback. So we appreciate that.

(00:21):
You can listen obviously ninety seven point one on the
FM dial. You could stream it live on the iHeart app.
But you can also go back and get all of
our podcasts. You can listen to them individually. You can
get each show as one about a one hour long podcast,
and hey, we appreciate you listening no matter how you listen.
We've got good stuff coming your way. Two iconic businesses

(00:42):
that are facing bankruptcy, not quite good news for them,
but that's coming up. We get public whiz talk, we
talk about that. That's all coming up. But right now
it's time for this.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Juicy new news hot gosh, if you live to become.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Top in the.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I'm talking a lot about TV and movies lately. Found
this it's kind of a thing. BuzzFeed put together. You know,
they're hit or missing some stuff, But I kind of
thought this was interesting. Over hyped TV shows and movies
and uh, let's get started. Okay, succession is one that
comes in off the top. Now I disagree with this
one hundred percent. Is a love succession, but I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Even get it.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
This makes me think that that the list is gonna suck.
First of all, I didn't think it was that hyped up.
I thought it delivered to the hype. Okay, I like
the way you phrased that. I would say that it
is someone who didn't watch it. I think it was
very hyped up. And obviously it got a ton of awards.
But you can't be overrated or over hyped unless you

(01:50):
are really hyped, you know. And so it's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Mine.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
That's incredible, it's gonna be ever forget the time skin
walked in looked us all dead, said, so it's gotta
be all stuff that the critics slow, Like, I guarantee
you the wires on this list.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Okay, I see what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
I'm curious about, like, how can you be wildly popular,
like be revered win all sorts of Awards, and yeah, man,
it was overhyped, like what Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
And I actually thought Succession was hyped up pretty good personally,
but maybe more so as it went on, because it's
so damn.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Good, just like people writing articles about how good it is. Yeah,
media circles.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
What do we see stuff?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
We see stuff just online, you know, it's like, yeah, God,
if they just did that, it inserted that in the
news all right now in TV, succession is pretty good.
We'll go over to delcas now that is what I
want in my news, yep.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
But we'll get it where else.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Another one on here, which this one got hyped up
little bit, was the NBC show The Good Place, which
I loved a lot.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
I don't know you guys didn't see that.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
My wife watched it on Peacock or Netflix or whatever
where they reran it on.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
I will agree that it got over hyped, though, because
it ain't on that level of office in parks and
rec and things like that.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
It's good. It's good, very good. Never never really got
into it.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Saw a couple episodes and thought it was good, but
not enough to really set the hook.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Christine, I think you saw this one. Shit's creek. I did.
I loved it. I don't know about overhype. It didn't
get a lot of hype, man, But like Ben said,
it delivered to the hype, So what's the problem. Thank you?
It did deliver to the hype.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
I didn't watch that show religiously, but anytime I saw it,
I was like, Okay, this is really good. I saw
the first three episodes and I was like, maybe we'll
come back to this.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
And I never thought about it ever. Again, maybe it's
more of a girls show? Is it more of a
My wife definitely loved it because Yeah, Mike was the
same way. He gave it maybe two and was out. Yeah,
I say what hit hard enough for me? I didn't
give a shot? No, leave us alone? Then? Yes, so much.
Eugene Levy, Yeah, there's a lot of eyebrows.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Uh Ben, someone restrained, Ben, Ben, he's about to blow
a gasket?

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Whose gasket? Top gun Maverick? Okay, movies too overhyped? Top
Gun Maverick. Ah Yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Far, so trite and predictable.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yeah. I didn't have a defined enemy either, you know,
it was man verse self to find enemy.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
I thought it was really well done, but I get it.
It's formulaic it's a it's a movie movie, right, it
wasn't an art film. There's three there's there's three enemies
in any narrative, man Verse, man, man Verse self, man
Verse environment.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Which one did it fall into? Ben? What was? What
was it? Man verse man, man Verse environment and man
verse what man verse self? I think there's a little
of all three. It sounds incredible. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I had to battle the environment because the mission, the
final mission had a lot of uh, you know, mountainous obstacles.
I had to battle himself because he had to come
to grips with the reality that Goose is gone, and
you know, can he really have a relationship with Goose's son.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
His goose was cooked?

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Yeah, So it was like man it was it Man's
man versus mann Verse self, man Verse Environment, then man
versus Wild Bear. Okay, see that's man versus that music.
That's that music that gets you hype and see that movie.
But I can see how some pretentious judging people wouldn't
like this.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
The Revenant was next on the list, which that's man
Verse wild and also man Verse self and environment and
man Verse man.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Because man versus Bear not wild but Bear also agree
over hyped ide Maverick. I have no opinion on the Revenant.
I found The Revenant to be overhyped.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Well, here's the thing about the Revenant. It's incredible and
then it's over. You're like, well, I never want to
see that movie again.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
I try to watch it every once in a while.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I'm like, ooh, I liked this, but kinda is like
it's exhausting sandpaper to your sack and sorry, I'm gonna
offend a bunch of veterans here. I don't want to
watch Saving Private Ryan again. Yeah, like it's it's it's
it is a mountainous climb for me first twenty minutes.
So that's specifically what I don't ever want to watch again.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
I saw for the first time the clast year.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I like to turn the music that, you know, the
the volume of the movie down and just listen to
Lee Greenwood while I watch it.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yes, yes, uh is Titanic over hyped?

Speaker 3 (06:36):
Also on the list, I think it's too long, okay,
but listen to that music.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
I also, you know, when you know the story, I
was like.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I was the whole movie going, how does she get it?
How she played this on that kazoo with no hands? Sir,
it's a recorder. She does look like she'd go crazy
on a woodwind though. Hey, man, I hope somebody approaches
you at a party about that joke. I'd be worthy.

(07:09):
Hey there's Kevin tur I gotta ask him about that
would wind joke.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Let's go back to four kh DTV Euphoria overhyped.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
That's the reasoning overhyped. I think it was overhyped. I
mean really, I think it's good.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
It got tons of love, and I got bored with
it and stopped watching. It's like, all right, I've seen
a lot of dongs. Yeah, I get it. Sidney Sweeney's
Smoke Show.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
That's great.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Here's some gay people, fine, uh, but not every It's
kind of like the movie Kids. It's like there's some
wild stuff with teenagers.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
But it ain't all like this. You know, when I
thought it was gonna be all over. This list is
like Marvel. Those Marvel things are over hyped.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
We may get there, but Jesus, huh, right, Ben saying
something I'm not brave enough to say, dude, you know,
I mean it's like in this one.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
In this one, there's forty superheroes and they're all fighting
the bad guy in his rings. I don't touch what.
Politics and Marvel those are the two things.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Dude. You confuse a Marvel movie with a DC movie,
and they are coming for you. Preach last one before
we get out of here. Maybe we'll come back after
a jam. Everything everywhere else wants the movie. I disagree,
highly not overhyped movies. Amazing best picture, it won that,
But I do understand for people who might have gotten
weirded out by watching it. Yeah, because of the sausage

(08:34):
fingers and the butt plugs and yeah that great.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah, I get some more. You guys, keep it going.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Let's keep it going over here, all right, we'll keep
this going in about four minutes.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Don't go anywhere
