Is it possible to be mesmerized by someone and still not like them?In this wildly entertaining episode of The Ben and Skin Show, hosts Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray dive into a hilariously unfiltered conversation about pop culture, playoff sports, and the strange energy surrounding Katy Perry. What starts as a segment on the Dallas Stars’ playoff run quickly spirals into a full-blown roast of Katy Perry’s public image, her postponed concert, and the existential crisis of being a 40-year-old pop star trying to dance like it’s 2009.The crew debates why Katy Perry has become so “dislikable,” despite no clear scandal—just a trip to space and a few diva rumors.“I just think of her in that Sesame Street shirt… with Elmo.” — Ben confesses his trance-like fixation on early-era Katy Perry, sparking a hilarious discussion on “jug trances” and pop nostalgia.A deep dive into the logistics of concert scheduling and how playoff sports can bump even the biggest stars from the stage.

Reach down and grab a couple of lump tomatoes.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's time for sport to catch up.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Catchup, sports spots, catch catchups.

Speaker 4 (00:19):
Tough news for Katy Perry because she's out there really
getting killed by everyone. Since she went up to Space
with Bezos's wife and lady from CBS Good Morning, So,
people have been really angry at Katy Perry lately. It's
kind of been weird. I don't really know why. Outside

(00:40):
of that, Like, if you're against that, that's fine. People
have been coming at her.

Speaker 5 (00:44):
Really against that.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
It's just she's dislikable for some reason. She's I don't
know why, but I'm on that bandwagon. There is don't
like Katy Perry.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
I can't remember if this was on the air now,
so I won't say names, but we knew a person
that had been on the set of that show that
she was on, is it America's Got Talent or whatever
she I can't remember what was on, Yeah, and they said.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah, she sucks, she made the set late and things
like that. She is straight diva, like you would see
in a caricature of a diva.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
If somebody shows up her show late, I'm not messing
with her.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
It just depends on their boobs.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Then, uh so she was scheduled to be at the
American Airlines Center Wednesday night, but that show has been postponed,
okay because of no, no, you, I'm sorry, because of
your Dallas Stars, who are still Okay. I was blown
away by this because I guess this is in the

(01:43):
contract when they do these deals. But I thought I'm
the home team the stars. Home is the American Airlines.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
No I know, but like once you booked the venue,
you booked a venue on a venue of that size,
and I guess there are But here's the deal. Here's
why I think this happened because did you see she
does not have another show until July.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Uh okay, yeah, that's the end of it. But she
has one in Austin on Tuesday, and then she's off.
But then she's heard her stop for a while.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
But she could do it Thursday. You see what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
And so what I was thinking was, you know, when
they booked these shows and there's these tours, there's so
much money involved.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
They must have provisions in there.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
You guys know it.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Times have changed, But you guys know what moody madness is, right,
h Well. Moody Madness was a game that the Dallas
Mavericks in nineteen eighty four.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
It was the clinching game of a playoff series.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
It was a home game and they had to move
their game from Reunion Arena to Moody on SMU, which
has half the capacity because there was a tennis match
booked at Reunion Arena.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Tough. You see what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
This was But like, do you think if Metallica was
in the middle of their tour and they had that
and then you booked like these.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
That's why they play at and t I know, but
you see what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I know, I think there had to have been some
kind of negotiation.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
I would think they would have said, look, there's a
chance that this Gid's canceled if the stars, like just
so you know, the stars of the Mavericks are in
the playoffs, right, but I want to go back to
Katy Perry just like the whole the whole thing. Like
I think it's amazing the trance. And I know I
represent a lot of guys, maybe not you guys, but

(03:29):
I can get in a jug trance and so like
when I think of her, I just think of her
in that Sesame Street, think.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Of Katy Perry, and I just think with I think.
I don't really know much about her.

Speaker 6 (03:41):
I know she makes pop songs that are catchy, and
I'm sure I can recognize several of them. But when
I think of her, I think of her in that
Elmo shirt, and I think she's fine. Yeah, it's uh,
we don't like Katy Perry's ill, But you know what,
I'm just in a trance.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
It is some strange energy, because there's not really I
don't think there's a singular event outside of going to space.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
No no, no makes you.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Go, why is why are so many men just mad
at her? Or I don't think.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
I don't think men are mad at her.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I think really probably I thought it was a woman backlash.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Now here's the other thing. How old is Katie Perry now?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
By forty something?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
That's why men are.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
Getting interested?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
She does dance around like a seal.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
You're in a smaller demo, ben No, but okay, forty
we've talked about this. You know how hard it is
to be a pop star out there dancing at forty?
And do you know when she really also got destroyed?
And I actually saw it. I never ever ever see
MTV anymore, and me and my wife stumbled across her.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
She won.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
I think it's called the Vanguard. It's like a career
the MTV, and we saw the performance. I was watching it, going,
this is kind of sad, Yeah, because I don't know
what the MTV audience is, but I know a person
of that age trying to do what she's doing on
stage does not connect anymore.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Her husband out there is very strange.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's the whole reason Timberlake made an album where he
was in the woods and then he was like, well wait,
none of my fans like this, so then he tried
to dance again, and then he got killed, and it
was like shot, it's hard.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
To be a middle aged pop star.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Yeah, breaking news disc Uh oh Christina can crank me up.
Yeah wow, we just learned from Iron Trepid reporters.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Ww dot Internet. I heard the show's Thursday.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
They moved it to Thursday. Okay, so you killed her
for nothing. I did a pretty good prediction that was.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
At the point of the story.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
The point of the story is the Dallas Stars won
and we're going to their third straight conference finals.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
I just think she's a kind persona.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
I mean, she's probably.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Why did you say that? Good for you of me.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
I have never actually met her, so she could be
super nice, but every picture.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Of her would lead me to believe that.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
I feel like this was a real predictable outcoming. We
shouldn't have done this segment. But coming up next, let's
review the joke swap. We talked about it Friday. Did
it connect?

Speaker 5 (06:04):
We'll do it right here on the Eagle
