Speaker 1 (00:02):
Time to pop the top creatures from Christina's scoopy jar.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Chris Jo. So early last months, there was a huge show,
huge Metallica show in Australia at pers Optus Stadium and
(00:38):
there are two guys in the crowd who were like, man,
I want to get a better look at this, and
they climbed these speaker towers. They thought it'd be a
good idea to climb some speaker towers. Now, I don't
know if you guys, I'm trying to put it in
perspective because I don't remember showing you guys the video.
The video is terrifying to watch. They were just climbing
(00:58):
these ladders and I looked at how tall these speaker
towers were. They're fifty meters tall, about one hundred and
sixty four feet, and these guys were just like, yeah,
let's just climb this.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
This is a good idea. That's so punk rock it
rock and roll.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Well, it's terrifying because I'm pretty sure they were drunk
while they did it. Now they didn't get hurt, which
is very very good. They did get arrested and they
were charged with trespassing. Like at the concert that day,
they were immediately kicked out and they had to go
to court. Well, they just went to court. The judge
told them this was incredibly stupid of you. So not
(01:34):
only do you need to pay for this trespassing fine,
you need to pay these court fines. You are now
banned from not just Metallica shows, but the entire stadium.
They cannot go to that stadium ever again. They are
now banned for life.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Did you say where the stadium was. I'm sorry, It's
in Australia.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Oh, good day.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
So that's that's essentially you said it was one hundred
and sixty four feet or something like that. Yeah, that's
essentially climbing to the top of a thirteen or fourteen storeilding.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Mm hmm, and hanging off of it. And so I
don't know if I told you guys this. Yeah, yesterday, Ben,
I was telling Kati and Christine about this Jeff Buckley
documentary that's so good. It's on Bill Simmons Music Box
series on HBO, and there's a there's a scene in
it where Jeff Buckley had or Ben Harper's recon story,
(02:20):
befriended Ben Harper and they're on a on a tour
together and He's like, Hey, after the show, we're gonna
go over to this festival. We're gonna see Robert Plant,
Jimmy Page. I want you to come with me. So
Ben Harper was trying to find him, couldn't find him.
In the middle of the show, he looks up and
Buckley is about five stories up hanging off of a scaffolding,
watching the show, and I was like, do you guys
(02:41):
remember in the early nineties, what's his name, Eddie Veder?
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Better do that?
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Eddie Vedder would go up in the rafters and hang
off the stuff. And it's like, that's a tough thing
to ensure it's well. My bandmates talked about their early days.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
They used to do the same thing, because, like Katy said,
it's very punk rock, but it's also very tear horrifying
and you could hurt yourself.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I don't think joshing that.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
No, well, he used to be able to see back then,
but yes, especially now, he does not need to be
doing anything like.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
That because now he's gay, I mean blind, ye, yeah, yes,
he is blind man.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
When I looked up, he was like six feet or
six stories up some scaffolding and he had used his
blind walking stick to get.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
All the way on top of it.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
It was so crazy, Josh, he could probably pull that off,
he really could.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
What is the name of that?
Speaker 4 (03:27):
I know it's not called a blind walking stick? What
do you call that thing?
Speaker 2 (03:31):
A walking stick?
Speaker 4 (03:32):
All right?
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Right?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Or seeing eye stick, seeing my dog? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
But then I wanted to go to a venue that's
here in the United States. Let's talk of the Sphere
for a second, because I saw a report today that
Oasis claims, well, they didn't really claim. Reportedly, Oasis turned
down an opportunity to play at the Sphere because Liam
Gallagher said that Bono was talking about how it was
just so expensive to put on the production there, so
(04:01):
it wasn't really worth it, and so they Again we
don't know for sure if the Sphere reached out to
them or not, but he's basically just saying that they
would not play this fear, would not play this fear.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Is it like the super Bowl where you pay for
the production yourself?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (04:17):
So they're saying that we have to make a business
decision if we're gonna have to put it pay for
all this production.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I think it may be money.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
I think it may be a matter of the margins
aren't as good as if they just go do a
show somewhere. In other words, you know all the money
that goes in not theyically have money. The attendance is limited.
But like if you're doing a residency and you're doing
it over long, the Eagles are getting ready to go
back and do another.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Stiff Fish is doing it again too, And that's why
I'm like, are you sure, Like maybe Bono's just.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
No, but but think about this. Oasis just played stadiums.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Yeah, So if they're playing a stadium, the margin on
what they do for one show versus what they do
on this other show is going to be night and day.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
They had dangled out the idea of coming back in
twenty twenty six, and then Liam think just think of
is Liam. He had broke his sobriety had five beers
after their final show, and I think it was probably like,
we probably don't need to do this right now. I
think they'll come back in twenty twenty seven or twenty
twenty eight. But it's the least Oasis thing ever to
just say, oh, Bono said this, so we gotta do it.
(05:16):
Bono said, I know what about you. I thought you
guys carved out your own path.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah, this story disappointed me. Christina.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I'm sorry, but maybe Metallica will play it. This fear
we'll see be very outdated.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Yeah, good job. KA all right, thank you Kray. There
it is Christina's cookie jar coming up in just three minutes.
We go around the sports. There are some MAVs rumors
out there. We'll talk about him next
