“What makes a TV show truly binge-worthy—and what happens when Hollywood says ‘not so fast’?” That’s the question Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray tackle as they break down the LA Times’ year-end list of the best TV shows of 2025.At the top of the list? Hal & Harper—a series written, directed, and starring Skin’s own nephew, Cooper Raiff. The crew celebrates this massive family win while debating what makes the show so unique, why it’s better in small doses, and why the cliffhanger at the end of Episode 3 might be the funniest TV moment of the year.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Juicy News, Hot Guys, every stay on Top in the
Woods shovel.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yes, the year end list continues the best TV shows
of twenty twenty five according to the LA Times, which
I never really look at that much. So I did
get my one free article of the month though, and
it's this list I bought.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I bought it for you can get four weeks for
a dollar. Oh nice. And when I knew what was
on this list, I spit the dollar to buy it.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I have the New York Slimes just because it's with
the Athletic.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Yeah, I have that too. And here's the other thing.
I think Hollywood lists for the LA Times are interesting
because these are people that are in the middle of
Hollywood for sure, for sure, so they have more specific reasons.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
A lot of times they did not have the nuts
to put these in order though, like a real ranking
would be.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Right scared somebody is to be number one.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
But the first thing on the list, like at the
very top, is a show that's out on movie which
is not a man boob movie m Ubi.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
It's the platform movie.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
It's called Alan Harper Let's Go, written and directed and
started by Skin's nephew Cooper Rife.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
You know that's the only guy in that whole family
with any talent, and I'm so excited for him. Man
taking shots at Gretchen Rye. Dude, how awesome is that?
That's great. They're getting a lot of love for the show.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
There. I think they were holding out hope they thought
that Lily ryan Hart would get a Golden Globe nomination,
because when they went to all the festivals, she got
tons of adulation and she did not. She's the pulse
of the show. She's amazing, and she's amazing in it.
And if you don't know who she is, she's best
known for Riverdale, right guess so, yeah, maybe she was
a big part of Riverdale. I never saw it, but

(01:58):
I know people were into they show.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
If you find time for the holidays to seek out
the show, watch it. To me. I don't find it
very bingeable, but it's not. It's good to spread out.
But I will say it's stay for the cliffhanger at
the end of episode three. It is the funniest moment
of TV of the year. Oh wow, yeah, the end

(02:21):
of episode three. Are you have you seen all seven episodes?

Speaker 3 (02:25):
No, I'm through five. Okay. It is so here's my
binge able story with it. So when they were trying
to get the show out there on a platform, they
took it to Sundance, which is a big music festival,
and Sundance happens the last weekend of January, first weekend
of February, and so when you take a TV series

(02:46):
to Sundance, you don't show I mean, the thing is like,
I don't know, four hours, you know, or three and
a half hours, You're not going to show all of that.
So they just show the first two hours or whatever.
But because Sundance a thing, we're all right, you can
go online and you can watch this movie or this
entire series. You can watch it in its entirety in

(03:07):
a twenty four hour window for ten bucks or whatever.
But you have to watch it in twenty four hours, okay.
And I was like, all right, well, I want to
see Coop series. So we started it at ten thirty
on a Saturday night. We were twenty minutes into it
and my phone started blowing up. Now keep in mind
I had daytime mAbs duty the next day, so I

(03:29):
was gonna get up early, and I already kne all right,
we're gonna plow through three and a half hours. So
we're going to bed at two o'clock and then I'm
gonna get up early, but we're gonna watch all. You know,
three and a half hours of this thing, my phone
started blowing up because Luca got traded. Oh so I
was twenty minutes into this series. Had to watch it

(03:51):
in a twenty four hour window. I spent about thirty
to forty five minutes, maybe an hour answering Luca texts,
and then we started it up up and watched it.
We ended up finishing it at like four in the morning.
And to Kat's point, it's not bingeable because it's deep
and there's meaning and there's a lot of detail. What

(04:12):
I go, ahead, Katie, Well, no, it's just like it is.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
It's it's better to watch the show in small doses
and the episodes are twenty to thirty minutes. She allows
you to do that, but if you're gonna sit and
try to I mean you can't. Unmingeable is not the word.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
It's just not. I would say, it's not the preferred
way to watch. To me, the best way to do
this is if you have do two or three episodes
a night for a week, and you'll get to it
Monday through Wednesday or Thursday. Yeah, yeah, now you're out.
When they started it, they were releasing one episode a week.
But now if you were to get it, you could

(04:46):
watch all seven episodes in a day if you wanted.
But I think it's perfect to watch Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
something like that. M Monday through Thursday. How and it's
got my nephew and Lily, Ryan Hart and Buffalo. Those
are the big names.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Betty Gilpin's in it, who is just in Death by
Lightning with you know, all the guys. When Nick Offerman's president,
he's the vice president, James Garfield when he gets shot.
Chess Arthur's whom nick Offferman was great depiction of that,
very good. Other shows on the list Quickly plural Us,

(05:20):
which we've talked about on Apple, The Studio, which is
also on Apple. Everyone's talking about the pit Adolescence. These
are all the shows we've talked about a lot. So yeah,
there you go, La Times, good job, Coop.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
A good list to be on. Yeah, hell of a list.
It's the top thing on there too. Yeah, the first
thing out there. So it's number one.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
We can say it's number one, one all.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Right, Christina Kray, a little baby Cornbread Ray. Where you
gonna take us in the cookie jar? We're going to
play the synonym game and I will explain next
