“If your car isn’t running right, do you fix it—or climb on the hood and drop a deuce?” That’s the wild analogy KT throws down as the crew dives deep into the Trevon Diggs saga. Is this a player problem, a front-office fiasco, or a little bit of both? Ben, Skin, KT, and Krystina unpack the tension between Diggs and the Cowboys, the organizational trust issues, and why some fans still sip the Jones family Kool-Aid.Plus, the gang pivots to the Dallas Mavericks’ hot streak, Cooper Flagg’s meteoric rise, and why Anthony Davis trade rumors have the NBA buzzing. Skin even drops a jaw-dropping nugget from Netflix’s Starting Five series, with NBA stars calling out “the worst trade in the history of sports.”

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Four point thirty. We'll get into the weekly weekday update.

(00:02):
The neurovirus is coming to town. Not good news, but
right now it's stip for this.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Now, this is cool around.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
The sports KTD twins as all the sports.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Yes, so as uh Kaylen Carson gets a double moved
and just ran by by Jordan Addison. As you sit
there and go, okay, maybe uh, maybe Trayvon Diggs playing
would have been something, uh maybe not, you know whatever.
The Trayvon Dicks stuff is still a bit of a
topic because he's saying that he's healthy enough to play.
Everyone else is saying he's not. Jerry specifically saying he's

(00:39):
not healthy enough to play based on what they saw practice.
Shaddy just says they need to see more consistency. Either way,
you don't want Treyvon Diggs playing now in three games
that don't matter. You want to develop your corners, it
doesn't really matter. But in a game where you could
have won, yeah, I think I would rather have him
playing than Kaylen Carson or ready to or name another Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Quarterback unless like this thing has gone way off the rails.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Oh yeah, it went off the rails.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
When they find him five hundred grand or whatever for
not rehabbing with the team. Him and Micah hold their
own press conference. Obviously, it was going against the grain,
going in a way that wasn't very organizational centric, right,
And so there is a thought out there that, and
I don't know the details of all this, that maybe
the Cowboys don't trust him to play out there, as

(01:30):
if he might fake an injury. So if he went
out there and played and faked an injury, would they
have to guarantee a certain amount of money for him
next year as opposed to them just parting ways.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
If that was in his contract. Yes, we don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
I guess we probably don't know what's in his contract,
but I've been told by multiple people that, yeah, that's
a big part of the concern he could get hurt.
They would have to have his money on the books
next year, and they absolutely are not going to have that.
They're going to cut him h and they're gonna save
a bunch of money for that, and they're gonna move on.
They've been wanting to move on for a long time.

(02:07):
I do think it's kind of crazy, though, and I
do feel like there's like a high percentage of Cowboys
fans that still drink the Jones family kool aid, and
they'll just kind of believe what they say, and I'm
just not gonna do that. This one bugged me for
a long time because yes, like a lot of this
is on Trayvon, like, yeah, rehab your knee and do
it right the first time, and he didn't. And there's

(02:30):
talks about how Al Harris, who was a defensive back
coach everyone time coddled him and kind of that's fine,
just Al Harris will go go fight Trayvon's battles. But
when they did a flip of the switch and just
started to come up with stuff because they were negotiating
with Micah knowing that Micah and Trayvon were tight, I
thought it was real interesting how they were. Like in
the very first press conference of the season, they ran

(02:53):
over Treylon Nicks and Terrence Steele, but they talked about
our high paid guys have got to be leaders, which
was in Micah negotiating tax. Well, you signed Trayvon Diggs
knowing that he's not the leadership loud type, and then
you went out and gave money to Ron Bland, who
has been vocal about how he is not that type either.
So here's my weird analogy. You guys can disagree with

(03:15):
me with what you want. There's definitely some holes in this,
but I do think this is more of a fifty
to fifty problem. It's like if you bought a new car,
or you bought a car whatever, maybe may well, let's
say not prosper for it for this car, because this
car is going to have some problems. Maybe you got
it from a used car place. You've got it, it's
in your driveway, but it's just not working the way
you want. So you have a mechanic.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Over.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Mechanic over takes a look because this is your investment here,
so you should want this car to perform at its best.
And then the mechanic's like, man, I can't fix it.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
So instead of getting another mechanic, a second opinion or
a third opinion, you go out, you stand on top
of your car, drop trow and rock a deuce on
the hood of the car. That is not how well
you should handle your investments. And that's what the Cowboys did,
and most of the Cowboys fans I hate Treyvon Diggs now,

(04:08):
and that's the line they want to stand in. Can
we not direct the attention to the family that hijacked
the entire season because they did this.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Trayvon Diggs did not do this. Can I say something?
They did?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
This guy?

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Say something right quick about Trayvon Diggs. Here's my problem
with all this. I'm standing out in the Gara in
the driveway and I'm looking at my car and I'm going,
why did I buy a car that just has no
desire to play technique? The car is just gonna run
around the field and dive for loose balls. It doesn't tackle,
it doesn't play technique. It just runs and reads the quarterback.

(04:42):
And you know what I'm saying, It's like he never
and I'm not even talking about your injuries. Like he's
very talented, he's not even trying to play the position, right,
I agree. But when they signed him, I didn't have
a problem with it because all he did was intercept
passes all the time. And it was like, yeah, oh
my god, we got a guy who gets takeaways all
the time. That's almost impossible to do. And if you
win the takeaway war, you can win most games. And

(05:04):
you know, when he got exposed when they didn't have
a badass pass rush and he had to cover.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Oa know why he loves Micah so much.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
No doubt, And I think it's very easy to go.
I'm a man corner. I play man.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
No, you play with the it's called And by the way,
you don't really play man either, you play the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Right, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I'm saying he is not absolved of anything. I just
think it's really wild. If you go out and ask
you go to the galleryum all to day. Oh, here
we go, go to the line the people waiting to
get into the Netflix store, ask him what they think
about Trayvon Dicks. All right, it will never ever be
any nuance that directs it back to the real problem.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
So I bet ninety percent of the people going to
the Netflix store don't know that's correct.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I think you're right.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Let's keep sports going, but let's get away from Dallas Cowboys,
the Dallas Cowboys. Let's get to the Dallas Mavericks. MAVs
play tonight. That game will be right here on ninety
seven point one the Eagle, the home of MAVs basketball.
Let's preview tonight's game and talk about that went over Brooklyn.
That's three minutes away, and that's next be.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
In skin Showy to some point won the Eagle coming
up at the bottom of the hour. The norovirus is
coming for that ass. Literally. We'll get into the details
of that. Don't forget two big shows this week. Friday,
we end our holiday show season at chalk taw We'll
be out there in Durant, Oklahoma from three to six.
But Wednesday we'll be in town at the Torches in Frisco,

(06:20):
right there off Preston Road near one twenty one.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Come and join us.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
It's going to be a blast doing the show from
three to six during what they call a hooky hour
where you get great deals.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
On food and drink. So come on out and join us.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
All right, So we're gonna get right into a little
MAVs talk here. We're not gonna play the around the
sports intro, but MAVs are on I guess what you
would consider a little bit of a hot streak. But
it was weird, Ben, because they had five days off
in between beating the Houston Rockets and beating Brooklyn. They're
back at it tonight at Utah. But they're they're having
a stretch here where they're playing some pretty good basketball.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Man.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
They are fun to watch, and they are really good
when they have when they're healthy. Yeah, when Ad plays,
he is he's a dominant force. There is no question
about that. That dude is really really good. I think
was the other night when he had a twenty point
double double and one half.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yeah, the second half against Brooklyn.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Good Lord and Cooper Flag is just such God. He's
evolving and growing. He's awesome right before our eyes. He
has got so much in his bag, so many different
ways to get to the bucket and he doesn't even
have his three point shot yet.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Like he'll he'll develop that. I'm confident in that.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
But his ability to floor the ball, he's long, he's fast,
he can get to the bucket finished with either hand.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
He is a joy to watch.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
And plus he just plays on both sides relentlessly the
whole time. So you'll watch him have a defensive stop
on one side and then to clutch bucket on the
other side, and it's all one giant highlight. I think
you pointed that out the other night in the broadcast.
It's just, man, it's it's so much fun to watch them.
And now people are buzzing because I guess some pedestrian
game I don't know if it's against Portland or something.

(07:56):
December twenty ninth, it was flexed into being like a
Nashley tell His game.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I see a lot of people saying, is Ky going
to be there? Is Kai coming back? Yeah? I don't
think Kay's coming back until.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Early. I think mid January is probably even early. I
think they're going to be, you know, smart about this.
I mean, even tonight. Anthony Davis is a game time decision.
Daniel Gafford's listen is questionable, but last I heard, they
thought he.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Was going to play tonight.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Okay, so you know, I still think they're going to
be cautious and smart about all this. But you know,
I read a lot of the NBA Beat reporters talking
about trade talk and stuff, and there's a couple of
them that are saying the Mavericks are actually looking to add.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, I've seen that.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
And dude, you pointed this out like I would if
you were playing a video game. You just you just realize,
all right, this is the worst trade in history at cent.
Our franchise back immensely, but we got the number one pick.
Let's just trade ad for young assets and let's build
around Cooper Flag, but you pointed out that some of
the offers aren't even gonna be good, or most of
the offers won't be good, so you can't just trade

(09:04):
him for the sake of trading him. So I mean
Nico crushed the organization and painted them into a corner.
They probably just have to play this out and see
what happens, unless they could get a package of young
assets to build around Cooper Flag, but it just doesn't
sound like that's going to be available.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
I love moving Forward. I love my forwards being PJ.
Washington Junior and Cooper Flag. I think that they're a
great compliment for one another. Are you guys familiar with
the Netflix show starting five? Uh?

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Have you watched any of it?

Speaker 4 (09:34):
I haven't, So, for whatever reason, I fell asleep the
other night Netflix was on and my wife watched two
or three episodes of it. Huh, And I woke up
and she was watching, like what the hell? And I
went back to sleep. So I started watching episode four
of it last night. And so what they do is
they follow NBA players around for a whole season. This
is the second season. Last year they followed around Kevin Durant,

(09:57):
James Arden, Tyrese Aliburton, think about how his year is
about to end, and I'm forgetting somebody but Shay Gildes Alexander.
All right, so think about how the see oh and
Jalen Brown of the Boston Celtics. Jalen Brown, So think
about what they have here. They have the Celtics coming
off a championship and they're following Jalen Brown.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
And remember, at the end of.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
The year, we're gonna watch as Jalen Brown in the
playoffs watches Tatum go down with an achilles injury. Then
we're gonna watch in the NBA Finals as it goes
to Game seven with Shay Gildes Alexander and Tyrese Aliburton
and he gets an achilles injury. We're gonna watch Shay
Gildgess Alexander win an MVP and a championship. We're watching
the Kevin Durant implosion. We're watching the James Harden implosion.

(10:41):
But last night they got to February first, when.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
The Luca trade happened.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Oh oh, they start showing those five guys reaction to it,
and Jalen Brown is walking through a metal detector or something,
and he goes I gotta see what's happening. This is
the worst trade in the history of sports. Like he
just straight up says it. Everyone knows I'm paraphrasing. Yeah,
but I couldn't help as I was watching that, thinking,

(11:10):
my god, what does Anthony Davis think about all this?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
You're talking about a former number.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
One pick, multi all NBA franchise altering player and everyone
everyone looks at him.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
As it's just he's six years older and can't stay healthy. Yeah,
it just is what I mean, nobody if you trade it,
Like look at the trade proposals out there for the
Greek freak, the stuff you read about her. Anybody who's
gonna trade a transcendent, global icon superstar, a franchise dominant
beast that comes around once a decade, once every twenty

(11:44):
or thirty years for an organization, You're gonna load your
team up if you do that. They didn't they got older. Yeah,
I mean, it's unbelievable. Yeah, well, it's worth your watch.
I mean, it's very entertaining.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Uh, it's you know, it flies by, But it's also
really fun watching Shae Gilder. And by the way, I
know you guys didn't y'all didn't watch the Emirates Cup
Spurs Thunder game Saturday, did you?

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (12:06):
No, I wasn't able to watch, but I did see
some of it happening on social media.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Freaking unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
And man, I would not be surprised if the Spurs
won it all this year.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yeah, he did that in twenty minutes.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Changed The thing is so hard for me, is like, Okay,
even if you go for it now, you're not better
than those two teams and they're way younger than you.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
I think the Thunder might still be one of the
three youngest teams in that league, I think.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
God, and they're so stacked they're going to get that
Clippers pick probably right.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yes, yeah, they they might have two lottery picks this year. Awesome,
pretty good, tough, awesome, all right, There you have it.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
But MAVs tonight against the Jazz right here on the Eagle,
and they were playing some good basketball, all right. Coming
up next in the weekly Weekday Update, the neuro virus
is coming. That's not good news. Wash your hands, DFW.
We'll talk about it next
