thirty minutes from now. The most attractive and least attractive
hobbies for men. But right now it's time for this
Skins track.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Another edition of things is traffic all right?
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Ben? You know, like on MLB Network or the NFL
Network or the NBA Network in the offseason, they show
classic old games and sometimes, you know, I'm like, you know,
maybe I'll pay attention. Usually I'm like, I don't have
time to watch a game from ten years ago. It's
got to be something that really like flips my switch.
(01:02):
But I got in bed late last night I flipped
it over to NBA TV and they were showing Game
seven of the NBA Finals from the twenty sixteen Cleveland
Cavaliers versus the Golden State Warriors.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Was that Kyrie? That is Kyrie? Was that when he
hit the game winner? It's when he hit the game winner?
Was it drawn up for him? Even though Lebron was
on the same.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Team, It was drawn up for him because they wanted
to isolate him on Steph Curry. Now, I have memories
of watching this game and getting excited, but I didn't
remember the details of the game. I don't either, But
last night was amazing because twenty six Like, if you
think about that Lebron's Cavs beating the Warriors, that doesn't
(01:48):
seem that long ago, or maybe I don't know, does
it seem like that? Okay, that was nine years ago,
almost a decade, and that is an eternity in sports.
And here's why I got sucked in so quick. It
was amazing to me how young Lebron and Steph Curry
looked and then Dallas Maverick Klay Thompson and Dallas Maverick
(02:10):
Kyrie Irving.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
That's like what really sucked.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
It sucked me in because I was like, Okay, I
know that and this game is legendary because supposedly right
after the game, Draymond Green was so distraught he called
Kevin Durant immediately and like this is so he's the
one that recruited Kevin Durant and he's the one who
ran them off.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Wow, And so you were getting sucked in a lot
less getting sucked in so hard, dude, it was a
great night for me. And so Draymond Green, we think
of him as a guy that you know, puts up
eight points and eleven rebounds.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Seven.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
That says game seven, Draymond had a thirty two point game.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
And here's where I did not remember any of this.
So that when they do these things, they they do
like a little like the old pop up theater where
there's nuggets about their career and.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Their game after a play. Cool.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
So Klay Thompson, who looks like he's fifteen, right, he
squares up, he pulls up, he knocks down a three
right in a Mon Schumpert's face. The Golden State Warriors
tie the game with four forty to go, and a
note pops up and says, this is the last field
goal the Golden State Warriors hitting this game.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Wow, with four forty.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
I'm going wait a minute, I know Kyrie hits a
game winner, and I thought it was tied or they
were down. Are you telling me I'm about to watch
four and a half minutes of nobody's scoring. Was it
free throws? It was missed shots? So both teams misshots
until the end. Yeah, So what happened was that shot
Klay Thompson hit put them up, and then Lebron hit
(03:43):
a shot to tie it up, and then they traded
miss buckets for four and a half minutes or really
four minutes. Okay, that shot that Kyrie hit, he hit
it with like fifty seconds to go.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
I don't remember it. What's the play?
Speaker 1 (03:57):
So the play was jack Clay Thompson, who at this
point is an elite defender, is on Kyrie and there's
just a little brush screen at the top to force
a switch, so Steph Curry has to cover Kyrie on
the other side of the floor.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
So Klay Thompson was such a good defender that he
could lock up Kyrie. There's about three or four years
where Klay Thompson was regarded as the best two way
player in basketball. I remember that, but I don't think
of him as being able to hold prime Kyrie.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
He was incredible. Wow.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
And you know what's crazy about it is probably the
other best two way player in basketball was probably Anthony Davis,
and a lot of people consider Anthony Davis to still be.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
The best two way player in basketball currently. Walth Okay,
So I got something about that too.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
So I'm watching it all unfold, and man, Lebron, they
have some turnovers.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
He goes in, so they're up three after the Kyrie shot. Kyrie.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Also, Steph Curry misses a shot, Kyrie gets the rebound.
They're up three with like fifty seconds to go or no,
thirty seconds ago. He dribbled down full court and just
misses a lamp when he could have taken the ball.
I mean, like it's a rookie type mistake. Like there's
so many bad plays, Steph Curry's throwing up bricks. I
mean it's crazy. So all this is going on and
(05:14):
I'm watching this game, and then Lebron goes in for
a dunk to go up five, Draymond levels him, and
then you have to watch a minute and a half
of Lebron acting like he got.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
His head blown on.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Oh yeah, Stretcher, Oh, my god, the team runs to
his defense. He's, oh my god, he's crying, he's smashing
the floor, and then he gets up and get you know.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
I mean, I'm like, really, I don't remember all this.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
But anyway, so the game's over, and it was crazy
to watch Ky and Klay Thompson that young and Lebron
and stuff. And as soon as the game's over, they
immediately cut to another classic and it was the year
before Game three Golden State Warriors versus New Orleans Pelicans,
and my god, Anthony Davis as a young player looked.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Amazing out what year was that? That to twenty fifteen?
Speaker 1 (06:00):
So it was just crazy watching young fin Anthony Davis
run all over the place. I mean, it was just
like I'm watching three old Dallas Mavericks from a decade
ago when they were young guns in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
That's kind of concerning for this team. They'd be that old.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
It's yeah, And he said yesterday he's got four or
five more years. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely good. I mean, dude,
he's like thirty three, thirty four.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
He'll be fine. He'll be fine, all right.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Coming up next in the Hollywood Shuffle, Taylor Swift breaks
the Internet again.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
What happened we'll explain next
