Speaker 1 (00:00):
Everybody been in skin show. We got that four pack
of Ranger tickets we're sitting on for today. We're gonna
give away a different four pack every day. This is
for the August twenty seventh game. Rangers are barreling towards
the playoffs, so this will be fun at the end
of this month. Whenever we do these ticket giveaways, we
use the iHeart app. There's a talkback feature. If you
don't have the free iHeart app, you're straight screwing up.
(00:21):
Get that thing downloaded and it'll be your chance to win.
Ranger tickets coming up at the bottom of the hour.
And food news. We got some bad news for our
friends at Jack in the Box. We'll talk about all
of that, but right now it's time for this.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Now, let's cool around the sports.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Ktun quints as all the sports. Yes, all right, I'm
KT today. By the way, KT is having some fun
golf stories. You gotta see those videos he's sending us. Yeah,
we're gonna have some KT fun when he gets back,
if he ever does. All right, two things for you.
I got Dak and I got Shoddy. We'll start with Shoddy.
(01:04):
This is funny little audio clip. It was making the
rounds on Dallas News and Twitter and all that. Let's
just listen to coach Schottenheimer firing himself from postgame prayer duties.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
After the game was over. I did the team prayer.
I called him up, I talked to the guys, and
I decided I was going to do the team prayer
because obviously my faith is really important to me. Well,
I went straight Ricky Bobby on him and I actually cursed. Yeah,
I cursed. I asked. I think I asked God to
help us in the red zone, said like, you know, damn,
we left some opportunities out there. So I fired myself
(01:41):
from doing the postgame prayer. I will not be doing
that anymore. But we played the clip for the guys
as they said, hey, let's talk about accountability because we
got to address this, we got to get this fixed.
And we played the whole clip of Will Ferrell at
the kitchen table doing the prayer where he's talking to
baby Jesus and all this stuff, and I think everybody
knew because I think Sam Williams was like afterwards, he
(02:01):
said to Dak, he goes, can you swear during the prayer?
So I have fired myself. I will no longer be
doing the postgame prayer. Chalk that one up. That when
you're that emotional and there's the ups and downs of
a game, you don't need to be the one talking
to God. So that's something that we good better how
we after action report and we've got cleaned up.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
That is fascinating audio. So man, it makes me think
of a lot of things. First of all, all right,
he's going to an older Will Ferrell movie. You know,
we were given McCarthy grief about the Mojo moment. I
similar vein here, I think so. I think I'm guessing
Talladega Knights is eight years after Austin Powers. Do you
(02:43):
guys know how what percentage of current Dallas Cowboys players
have seen Talladega Knights. I would bet prior to that clip,
I would bet it's about eight percent, Well more than
Austin Powers for sure. Yeah, definitely it's not as old
as that, but it's still we're talking about less than
ten on both. I think that Also, there's a hierarchy
(03:04):
of Will Ferrell movies, and I think Talladaga Knights is
probably right in the middle somewhere. He it's above Trup.
What's the basketball movie? The semi pro semipro. It's above that,
but it's below Step Brothers and it's below Anchorman. Right.
But yeah, but at least like if he shows the clip,
it's actually funny, Like everyone can laugh at Will Ferrell
(03:27):
doing that funny prayer and cussing in it, even like
I think Christians would think it's funny. I can't imagine
just like a twenty three year old dude trying to
watch Austin Powers go baby like one what those are
about ten years apart by the way, Yeah, but it's
such a good point Ben bringing up. It's right along
the same lines. The other thing is I have a
lot of prayer anxiety because I didn't grow up going
(03:50):
to church. But I am Christian and that is a
part of my faith. But I'm like, when it comes
to giving a prayer, I'm not the best at it.
And so I can underunderstand how he feels about that.
And I ran into this situation where so we have
a friend, a friend of ours, who was paralyzed skiing.
He's paralyzed from the neck down. And he was a
(04:11):
guy who played basketball with every Sunday, and so every
Sunday that we play after we play because it was
his game. We send him a prayer and you know,
just try to lift his spirits and whatnot, and he's
doing so much better. But so I'm always reluctant to
give that prayer for this reason. I'm like shoddy, I
don't know what I'm gonna say. I might not do
it right. So I had this other guy that always
(04:31):
did the prayer, and then one week I let another
guy do the prayer and it might have been a
backup quarterback situation better than the starter. Yeah, so now
I have a quarterback controversy. I don't if they're both
there better. Yeah, the backup ended up being a little
bit better than the starter. So I never know who
to and they're both there and they think I'm gonna
give them the ball? Hey, would you mind leaving us
(04:51):
in the prayer? And so was the starter there for
the backup prayer? Yes, when I yeah, do you remember
hearing about when uh Landry used to rotate out I
thought he rotated out Craig Morton and Staubach by play
by play, Remember hearing? Oh yea, So maybe just like
here's what you do. Have one guy do a line
(05:12):
and then another guy do a line. And they just
go back and forth until one guy says, amen, do
they try to one up each other?
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, and you can pray for something more substantial than
what you did. I'd like to pray for world peace. Well,
the the big gun is when you start quote quoting
scripture word for word, because the scripture battle, just like
in Shawshaker. I like that scripture, but my preference is
this one.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
You could do.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
You could do the Trump thing too, and just say
I like the whole thing. When he was asked what
his favorite scripture was, I like it all. It's all great.
Which testament do you like? More? Like both? How many
are there? I like all them? Well there's two. So anyways, Uh,
that is a really funny thing. Schottenheimer, and I think
(06:01):
one thing that we've seen been with him is he's
got good self deprecation vibes. Yeah, it's good, and he
wears a good visor, so they've got that going for him. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
All right.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
We'll get to the Dak thing a little bit later
in cussing the Cowboys, because Dak has been in Micah's
position and he weighs in on that. Coming up next
in Food News, Jack in the Box has some issues,
and we're gonna break it down
