Speaker 2 (00:34):
Another edition of things is traffic.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
All right, Ben, I want to start with remember during
the Olympics when you were watching speed walking and you
were like, I don't get it.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Are what are we doing? They're not running? And really
it was in the Olympics. Yeah, I'd believe it.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I don't remember it, okay, And we started talking about
Doctor Detroit. The opening sequence of Doctor Detroit. Have you
guys ever seen speed walking every day?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Though? So yeah, yeah, it's just you get in your car.
It's really funny to watch people your hips. Oh that's right,
I remember this now. It was in the Olympics.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, I mean, hell, break dancing was in the Olympics.
So anyways, I know I need to do something to
get in shape because I haven't done cardio since my twenties.
That was three decades ago. It was the last time
I did cardio. So but I also know that you know,
you guys have walked behind me or in front of
(01:32):
me as we're going to our cars and you hear
my ankles pop.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
It sounded like an old squeaky chair. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Like all my joints are just they're just I played
basketball growing up. Like my big toe just constantly hurts
at all times.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Have turf toe.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
I have turf toe, and it's probably from spending my
whole life jumping and landing on a hard basketball floor.
And so I was like, all right, I need to
do something, but man, I want to do something real
low impact and I still to cross.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
And I mentioned this to you the other day.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
You guys just probably off air Japanese interval walking.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Okay, I love the name. Interested. Do you guys know
anything about this?
Speaker 3 (02:14):
You were saying, you walk real fast and you use
this that accent you use yeah, talk.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Real loud, yeah, and then the neighbors freak out. Uh
what it is?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Anytime they go hey, man, here's something you can do
that'll change your life in thirty minutes, I'm like, I'm
willing to commit.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
So it's simple.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
You walk fast for three minutes and then you walk
slow for three minutes, and you do intervals and you
do five of those, right, So it's like a hit workout.
Have you guys ever seen old people walk around your neighborhood?
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Man, I'd like to see you go buy a pair
of nurse shoes and walk around the mall.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Well, I was like, I'm going to do this. And
by the way, it's called Japanese interval walking because it
started in Japan, but apparently it's because it's a walking
pattern that has been studied by Japanese researchers.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Japanese researchers, huh yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
So anyways, I did my third day of it today,
but something really great, really great development happened.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
My twenty year old daughter went with me.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Okay, god I want to get video of you doing
this and like intersperse it with Godzilla footage with.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
That'd be so good. So I will keep you guys
up to date on this. But I felt really good
about I mean, it was so hot, so hot. Yeah, no,
I'm not Are you stretching before? No, you're not stretching.
I'm doing minimal stretching.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
You should stretch little. Do you really have to stretch
for walking? Though? Isn't that kind of like a stretch?
Speaker 1 (03:49):
When I looked it up, it says you can start
with a five to ten minute warm up of light stretching.
If you pull your hammi walking, that's bad. It's power
walking though. Yeah, I mean it's Olympic sport, ben, But
your body's your body and if it's not used to
any type of physical action at all.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Right, a warning, A little bit of a warning.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
I'm on day three of this and I feel fine. Okay,
I don't feel like i'm I mean, I do have
some soreness, but I'm not overly taxed.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
How's your mind on those walks? Walks? Clear your mind?
Speaker 1 (04:19):
First two days I was listening to music. Third day,
I just talked to my daughter the whole time. That's awesome.
That's awesome, right, that's a great time. Okay, Now let's
go from working out to eating burgers.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
There's an article in the New Dallas Observer that was
very interested in because I sort of did this myself.
The first time I told you guys, I went to
Burger Schmerger. It was closed because at the time they
weren't opening till three. So we ended up going to
that Mexican food restaurant next door. I think it's called Casino.
It's really good. But in that same parking lot is
(04:50):
a place that is called to try to in front
of me draft oh District nine draft hacks.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Okay, yeah, you know it.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, because when I waited in line one time Burger Schmurger,
I considered going over there.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Okay, he should have gone over there.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
It's like the only other, like, well outside of the
mixtanplace is it like an Alamo draft house carries a
bunch of beers.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Carries a bunch of beers.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
But it's a small bar and they do have and
it's like owned by a guy. He does all the cooking,
he does everything, and they have a smash Burger there
all right.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Right across the street from Burger Schmurger.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Same parking lot. Whoa, And so I went in there
to tell him about Rollertown. That's the brewery that Ben
and I are invested in, and they have you know,
thirty taps on the wall. They're a taphouse. They're primarily
a German taphouse and they have schnitzell, different stuff. But
what's happening is with all of this activity at Burger Schmerger,
they're having the best business they've ever had. It's definitely
(05:42):
a tied lifts old boat scenario. It's the guy who's
not good at picking up chicks, but he hangs out
with the guy who gets all the chicks, so he
gets like overflow chicks my life story. Yeah, it says
here's a quote from the guy, Andy Thompson that owns it.
The week after they open was probably the best week
we ever had. We've had a lot of people waiting
for their food, coming over getting a beer, and we've
(06:03):
had a lot of repeat business from that. Nothing but
positive things. So this guy from the Observer went with
some friends did Burger Schmurger and then did District nine
Draft House and tried both of their burgers and then
did the taste test because they have a smash burger
who wins. He said it was did He wasn't trying
(06:24):
to lead the witness. He was trying to let both people,
or to let all. He's trying to encourage all people
to go and taste it for themselves. He did say
Burger Schmirger's flavor balances tipped a little more toward the
American cheese since slices are layered between each thin patty.
I also thought the edge of District Nine's beef patty
had a little more crispy char In fact, I like
(06:47):
District nine smash.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Oh a lot. Dude, that's nice.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
I think I want to go there even more than
I want to go to Club Haunted House.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
That's incredible. Isn't that cool? I mean I do love that.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
First of all, any place that has thirty beers on tap,
I love you. You're doing great, You're doing amazing work. But
this is just over in East Dallas. It's not some
super busy area, and there's three really great restaurants all
in that little old shopping strip that was probably built
in the fifties or sixties.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
So go check it out.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Wow, do the District nine Draft House, and do Burger Schmerger,
and then do the Mexican Food restaurant next door to.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
And watch District nine, the movie Yes all Right.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Coming up next in the Hollywood Shuffle, what was Tiger
Woods doing in Dallas Fort Worth.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
This week we'll discuss
