Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is the Ben and Skins Show, ninety seven point
one the Eagle, and we are the home of Dallas
Mavericks basketball. MAVs Jazz will be on the air tonight.
Pregame starts at seven. Ben and I will be on
the pregame, so maybe you should be listening for that. Also,
one of the things that's really great, Ben is Roller
Town Beer Works, the brewery that you and I are

(00:20):
partners in up there in Salina. If you're going to
the game, you can get the big German at the arena.
You can get it at the Chopshop live right by there.
We're coming soon to places like Hero and Black Tap,
So make the big German our Kohlshow part of your
game experience. But man, you held it down Saturday for
one of the greatest events in Rollertown history.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I think you could say the greatest event we've ever
had is our sumo wrestling, and I think this is
going to be a very close second. Actual Lucha Libre
wrestling Lucha Doors in the House from Mexico.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
It was unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
The place was packed, everybody's having a great time, incredibly
entertaining show, and dude more than anything. The kids freaking
loved it. Kids were everywhere having a great time. I
had mav duty, so I could only stay for a
little while. But I'm now best friends with Duke's car club,
the Lowrider Dudes out of Fort Worth. So it was
a wonderful weekend support Roller Town Beer Works. But right

(01:19):
now it's time.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
For this a kill that. Just watch the game Saturday night. Man,
that's a good drop.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
It's gonna be a good drop forever as he's serving
up prime rib.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
So it was the first MAVs game on Saturday night
that was not a national TV game, so I think
chaos in the streets. And I saw some tweets that
you had, Ben, Yeah, embarrassing for me. So I was
so excited about this, Like I love the Mavericks. I

(01:56):
don't ever want to miss a game for any reason,
and I would pay a really huge sum of money
to ensure that, Like I'm I just it's a huge
priority for me. And so it just so happened that
we've been so busy I didn't really have a lot
of time to put a bunch of thought into it.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
I just was like, Okay, I have Drake TV. So
I'll have channel twenty nine. I'm set, And so I
was super busy. I actually had to miss the very
start of the game because my daughter had a basketball game,
and so I'm at Frisco field House watching her game.
And then I rush home and I flipped the TV
on and I'm like, oh, I'm I don't I have
channel twenty seven and channel thirty three. So I start

(02:34):
texting Skin because he's at the actual game broadcast, and
I'm like, hey, dude, how do I find the game?

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Am? I called?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
On?

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Man?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I got to see this Kyrie possession? And he goes seriously.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I was like, this might be the worst text I've
ever sent you concerning everything at play right now, but
I cannot get the game. I can tell you that
I was in a room with Dana Larson and Clark row,
the producer of our MAVs Center Court, which is our
pre postgame show, The Crowbar. The Great Aaron Fine gold
White was there as she oversees MAVs TV. Thanksgave Matthews

(03:09):
fan Yeah, And so I had a whole crew of
people with me that could I go? I thought Ben
had it? Is it not on Direct TV? Ben's got
Direct TV Ben, turn it to Channel twenty nine.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
What are you doing? And then I didn't.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
I didn't know that the direct TV streaming was different
than direct TV.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Oh, dude, you got DTV stream Dude.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
My wife, she it's her move. She did this.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
She's been fighting for it for a long time. Hates
the MAVs, all the things I enjoy about watching television.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
She wanted to take from me.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Like, what I want to do is I want I
want to pay for every movie channel so I could
just flip through all the movies and let the movie
DJ decide the movie that I watch.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I have the big dish on your house. She's like,
you could go. You got every movie you could ever want.
Just punch in the name of it. You can go.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
I don't want to decide. I wanted the DJ to
decide for me. But all you do is watch Roadhouse
anyways if it's on. Yeah, Oh it's such a good
because really, Brad Wesley, what was he doing here?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
He got out of control of that guy.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Okay, But she was like, for months and months and months,
we can save money. We get direct TV streaming streaming.
I'm like, all right, fine, So she got direct TV
streaming and it was all her fault. So there I
am trying to watch the game. Skin's like, dude, you
have direct TV. I'm like, yeah, says direct TV. Here's
channel twenty seven, here's channel thirty three. No channel twenty nine,

(04:23):
and so I'm out there trying to I spent three
quarters trying to find the game. Finally in the fourth quarter,
I'm able to buy the NBA package. And because it's
really it's like the MAVs app, it's not out yet, right,
so we'll first, like I think the first I don't know,
I'm approximank like a couple months. You buy it through
the NBA, and then eventually it'll be on its own.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
But it's set up through League Pass right now.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
And it makes sense that you can't get it on
Direct TV streaming because streaming is different than over the air,
and the streaming rights are held by the NBA with
the League Pass and all that kind of stuff. So
it's just stuff that has to be sorted through. But
I felt bad. So I have you Verse and you
Verse has channel twenty nine, so I haven't had to

(05:07):
think about it, yeah, because it's it's on my deal,
and so I've kind of followed it loosely, but I
haven't done like the mechanisms of you have an antenna,
you're getting streaming, Like, I haven't gone through all that.
And so as Ben was texting me, I was like, okay,
I'm a consumer now. So I started going through the
MAVs website to find a link, and then I sent

(05:27):
Ben to link. But I think I think by that
point you had already figured it all out.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yeah, And honestly, for me, paying one hundred.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
And twenty five bucks was better than buying an antenna,
because I'm like, how to what I'm going to buy
an old school I mean, the cost proposition of it
made a lot of sense. Pay thirty bucks or whatever
you got an antenna of your set. But I'm like,
how do I I have a TV from outer space?
How do I take an old school antenna and plug
it into that thing? I was like, I'll just pay
And so I found it and I bought it, and

(05:56):
it all worked out. And I don't know how it
happened because I'm I'm buying it on my phone, right yeah,
And so I'm sitting there going, I guess I'm gonna
have to watch the game on my phone and then
this button popped up and was like, do you want
to project.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
To the TV?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
What?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Yeah? You can do just so easy. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I don't know how I did it. I hope they
prompt me to do it again because I don't know
how it happened. Did you You bought an antenna?

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Right?

Speaker 4 (06:16):
I did, so. I didn't see Ben's tweets until like
Sunday morning. Okay, so right, so I'm late to the game.
But it made me think of, like, you know how
when there's like a tornado in your area and lack farms,
I usually syntext like you had good and then I'll
call me and like what's going on?

Speaker 3 (06:31):
So I kind of talked you through tornado. Sometimes I
was like.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Man, it's a shame I wouldn't available Saturday night to
talk Ben through some of the these problems. I got
ahead of it because of I was recommended an antenna
from a doctor, Danny Baylish, doctor Dingoo, and it's a
Phillip Santana and it's twenty bucks, and I'll be damn just.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
I didn't know what I was getting into. Really, just
plugs into the back of the TV. It was so easy. Really,
it was great. The only problem was it did Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Yeah, it just you just go to the the live
TV thing on the home screen of your smart TV
or whatever and uh roll down. The only thing that
threw me offul biz it did say Still said Austraia.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Okay, I did see that was the logo Still I did.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
The guy who advised you, I saw him on Twitter
the I don't know after the game whatever. He's at
Soul Bastard and it said, uh, I bought the antenna.
Does anyone know how this thing works? Because I guess
he had to reset it or something. He had to
re scan his channels.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Okay, yeah, Because I was like, okay, this guy told
me to get this antenna.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
So I ended up calling him like, how are you
gonna watch the game tonight? Good question on Saturday night?
How do you watch the game to night?

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Dude, dude, listen to this my buddy and it's our
buddy Jonathan Swenty over there.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
He went to a sports bar. They didn't have it,
they didn't know how to get it. He ordered it
and then streamed it to their TV at the sports bar.
He was that's incredible, and he was like, I mean,
what a hero. Right.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Everyone started channing his name.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
But it's like there's still a peer a time where
everyone everyone's got to figure out exactly how to get
this stuff. Yeah, And I want to say this too,
people like are directing anger towards the maps.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
It's not their fault. This is the day and age,
this is the way.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
It's our fault as humanity for the way that we
consume pop culture.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Now.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah, my kids consume pop culture on TikTok and YouTube. Yeah,
and so the advertisers like, how do we reach all
these people? And then streaming changed everything and changed music,
it changed film, it's sports, it's changed all. And I
would try to stream Ranger games on the fan app.
It's not on there because it's different than having the
orloah sorry. So it's different than actually being able to

(08:36):
when you stream something, you're not just listening to the
local version. It's going out worldwide, and so there's rights
and all these different things that go into it. But
I just it's funny when Ben was putting his tweets out,
you know, I don't sometimes I'll have a chance to
check tweets during the game, and I went and looked afterwards,
and there were several people that were killing me going
I thought it was just getting an antenna, right skin,
and so they were kicking me in the nuts. I'm like, look,

(08:59):
I probably should have as someone who's on that broadcast,
I should have taken the time to learn all the
different ways that people get it.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
But because I had you versed and I was covered,
I didn't do that.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Well, yeah, the big problem is it's not nineteen ninety
seven anymore good. I mean, I feel like everyone wants
to just go back to nineteen ninety seven.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
It was a better time. It was easier to get
what you were looking for.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
Now it might see me easier now with your phone, right,
I mean, you still do this for me to deliver.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
But nineteen ninety seven was a more wholesome time.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Now it's chaos, and anyone who's really probably over the
age of thirty five or forty, is going why can't
he just be there? The Mavericks should get a lot
of credit for and the Stars too, for going out
of their way to like, go, Okay, we're gonna do
anything we can to make this available for you.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
The Mavericks did it.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
You know, at the end of last season, the Mavericks
has probably hurt a lot of noise from pants too,
but they did something about it and then takes partners
and Channel eight and all that stuff to dude to
make it work. But like the Bally thing was still
in play till August. I think there's probably a lot
of organizations that are probably just sitting on their hands
and going man, waiting on this deal to run out. Yeah,
you can't do anything, and at least got active and
have done something.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
And absolutely, for me, I'll pay twenty dollars.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
I would pay one hundred and twenty five dollars to
watch MAVs games for a year. Yeah, you know, but
it works with the antenna for me. I always got
two TVs in my living room anyway, So it was
a weird situation. And it doesn't look good. The antenna
does not look good, but it's not rabbit ears like
you think. You can almost like tuck it under and
put it in a shelf and close the door. You
don't really have to do anything couk it. You can

(10:35):
tuck it under.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
It's got dirty.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Fore, I think poor Christina doesn't even know if she
has Maverick Games jet because she was rocking out oatmeal
pizza style at Double White on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
All of this is going completely over my head. So
I do need to figure out. I'm going to find
out tonight so I can get maps and I'll start
tweeting like Ben did.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Actually, I'll text you during the game. Yeah, tag me
in that.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
I want people to say, yeah, skin idiot, what's your
TV provider?

Speaker 3 (11:02):
But also I have.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
A way to watch the Dolphins. I think I can
watch the MAVs whole problem streams.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah, streams.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I had a lot of people reaching out to with
illegal advice. Yeah, including my own son. I was like,
I don't think I want to do that. I mean,
that's alse Roy lives, right, dude.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
So meth streams is wild, like you have to fight
through occasionally. Let's be back a TV timeout real quick.
And then the Jardians lady is getting pounded by Homer
Simpson and you're like, okay, well I need to move
that off and we are not putting that on MAVs TV.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
No, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
That did the pop ups on these sides, and they
sometimes there will be a tweets you can find these sites.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
There's like okay and if this.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
If this link goes down, go to this one, because
these links get taken down all the time.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
It's chaos.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
See. He's trying to do that for Packers and Jaguars yesterday,
because in df W, if you wanted to watch games
on Fox at noon, you got lyon playing with each
other and drafts and stuff.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
It was like animal Planet. Did you really need to
watch Packers Jaguars? Absolutely?

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Dude, we're six and two, I know, but you knew
that you don't need to watch them.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
I don't. What's it like?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Man?

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Oh man, it's great when your football team doesn't quarterback.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Even gets hurt, and the backup comes in and just kills.
It is just so unpredictable.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
You never know what to Playing this with Cooper Rush,
that's gonna do it for us.
