Speaker 1 (00:00):
Don't forget Wednesday, We'll be at the Torchies in Frisco
Preston and one to twenty one twenty nine to forty
seven Preston Road. One of the biggest remotes we've ever
had come out to Frisco Preston in one to twenty
one right next to Stonebarer Mall, Torches and Frisco. We're
giving away MAVs tickets. It's going to be an awesome show.
But right now it's time for this juicy news.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hot God every day. Come stay on the top in
the Woots shovel. All right.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
So last night, and by the way, this is going
to be two segments here because we've gotten some details
this morning and last night. In the early stages of
the Cowboys game, we learned that uh director comedian actor
Rob Reiner, who's seventy eight years old, and his wife Michelle,
who's sixty eight, were found dead in their mansion in

(00:54):
la and at the time it was not clear for
them as the investigation was ongoing, they have learned that
it was them and their son, Nick Reiner, who's thirty two,
has been arrested in his bond I believe is four
million dollars right now. Oh my god, that's healthy. They
pretty much think it was him. He was They were

(01:15):
stabbed to death. Some details on that in a second,
but I think for those that don't know, and I
was explaining to my wife last night, this is going down.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Well, Rob Reiner is the dad on New Girl. Dad
on New Girl.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
That's the last way I would describe him. He was
on a few episodes of the season four of The Bear.
You know that.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
I wondered about that storyline because he's gonna be real
involved in the opening what I thought was gonna happen
with the Bear, as I thought he was going to
go off and start a new restaurant.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
The way The Bear works, there's a chance they've already
shot it. Yeah, but there's also yeah, I mean because
they dropped their stuff in June usually, so I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Reiner is part of a legendary Hollywood family. His dad,
Carl Reiner, was a comedian, writer, filmmaker.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Legendary. In fact, his dad worked with Steve.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Martin on the movie The Jerk that you know, being
been of reference to a million times on this show.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I didn't even know that Carl Reiner Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
That's his dad and Rob Reiner first burst onto the scene.
A lot of people consider All in the Family to
be the greatest sitcom of all time.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Well, Rob Reiner was a character.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
That named Meathead, and Archie Bunker, who was an old
conservative bigot, was at war with Meathead, who was a
hippie liberal that married his daughter, and so they were always,
you know, bickering with each other. Rob Reiner created Spinal Tap,
which for our rock fans, mockumentary, and he was in it.

(02:52):
He was the director and the guy interviewing the bat.
And then, you know, probably one of his biggest movies.
Him and Billy Crystal, who were good friends, teamed up
on when Harry met Sally and Real. Famously, Rob Reiner's
mother was the lady in the deli who after what's
her name, Meg Ryan had her fake orgasm, she said,
I'll have what she's having. So it's a legendary Hollywood

(03:16):
comedy for ol. He was best friends with Albert Brooks.
He's the one we were just talking about and said it.
Albert Brooks was the funniest guy ever, Is that right?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
His dad Carl Reiner.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
His dad, Carl Reiner went on the Tonight Show before
Johnny Carson.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
This is in the fifties or sixties. Steve not Steve Allen.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
I forgot the guy's name, Gary Shandling, Gary Shandling. And
he was asked, who's the funniest guy you know? And
Carl Reiner said, it's a teenager named Albert Einstein, which
is Albert Brooks's real name. His dad, who was a comedian,
named him Albert Eins is great. So you're talking about
a long I believe. I think Rob Reiner did The

(03:53):
Princess Bride. He did The Princess Bride.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
In fact, Carrie Ellis, who was in The Princess played
him in a movie that I'll talk to you about
here in a second, played Rob Reiner, well, you know,
a characterization of him because his son who allegedly murdered him.
They did a movie ten years ago and Rob Reiner
directed it and it is about their struggles and his

(04:16):
struggles with abuse.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Wait get into that, and the kid is in the movie.
It's like a documentary. Helped wrote. He co wrote the movie.
It's but it's it's a fiction.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
It's it's fiction movie, but it's based on their story
right there, And that's.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Why it's so there was abuse in their family. Yes,
oh yes, the.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Kid Whoick Reiner is thirty two, allegedly murdered his parents
struggled with all kinds of substance abuse, and it had
been spiraling for a long time. And ten years ago
they made a movie called Being Charlie and Rob Reiner
directed it. So they worked together on this thing. They
did press junket. They're out doing interviews and stuff. It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Can you can you imagine having the life that Rob
Reiner had, living to be seventy eight years old and
you die being violently stabbed with.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Your wife, Yeah, by your child.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
That's in And that's one of the first things I
think that led them. And I don't know if it
was still went on details like if Nick Reiner was
there when the police got there, but his house was
so big, and they're like, it would have to be
someone who knew how to get in, and so everyone
immediately suspected that it was him because he's been living

(05:27):
in home with shelters, he's been living under the bridge,
he's been in and out of the house. He's been
clean ten years ago, though he was in his early
twenties and he's doing a movie with his dad about
some of these struggles that he's had.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
But here's where it took a big twist.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
This morning I found out that there was an argument
at a very famous person's Christmas party in la just
a few days ago that might have been a little
bit of foreshadowing into the events of last night.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Well, we'll tell you what that is next.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Been in Skin Show ninety one point one The Eagle
Join us Wednesday, will be at the Torches and Frisco
off Preston Road.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Come on out. We're gonna have fun. Man.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
That's when they have the whole hooky hour thing going
on with discounted drinks and great appetizer deals. We'll be
there doing the show from three to six. We want
anybody to come out and hang out with us this Wednesday.
Now we're in the middle of talking about the murder
of Rob Reiner and his wife at the age of
seventy eight and sixty eight. We're just telling you, you know,
Rob Reiner is part of Hollywood Royalty. His dad Carl Reiner.

(06:31):
For a while he was actually married to Penny Marshall
Laverne from Laverne and Shirley. They were married for like
a decade and Penny Marshall's brother, Gary Marshall, is a
huge Hollywood person. I mean, these are people that have
been ensconsdin Hollywood for decades. And Kat, you're just explaining
how Rob Reiner and his son, who is alleged to
have murdered his mom and dad, were, you know, involved

(06:53):
in making movies.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Yeah, they worked on a movie called Being Charlie in
twenty fifteen or twenty sixteen, and it was loosely inspired
by his early life, so you know, and again Nick
Reiner had this This led police immediately to think about
about him too, like the fact that there was a
movie made. Maybe not so much, but they knew that
he had issues in the past with substance abuse.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
And things like that.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Everyone or there was a big spike in the movie
Being Charlie on YouTube last night because that's where it's
been living. Oh wow, and I'm going to play you
guys about thirty seconds of a scene. Okay, I think
if they I think there's a chance this ends up
getting pulled from YouTube at some point. Okay, but this
is Carrie Elis who's playing Rob Reiner. You know, hypothetically
in this thing, you have the kid actor who's playing

(07:39):
Nick Reiner, and they're talking about I mean, this is
all loosely inspired on this.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
It's crazy.

Speaker 5 (07:45):
See if you can hear this, Welcome up to Sacramento,
get away from all the what the drugs. It was
never about the drugs. All they ever wanted it was
a way to kill the noise. But the more I used,

(08:09):
the louder it got. I was part of the noise,
wasn't I.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
And then he holds up his fans like a little
bit wow. So the kid says, I wanted to kill
the noise. Yeah, he said, I was part of the
noise now in this And when they were doing press
for this movie ten years ago, you know, Rob Reiner's
sixty eight at the time, kid's early twenties, and rober
I kept saying, you know, I never listened to my
son the way I should have when he was telling

(08:35):
me these rehab places weren't working. I was so focused
on the people who've got their diplomas on the wall
and to have better advice. This could have been in
and out of rehab over ten to fifteen times, and
it just wasn't working for him for whatever reason. And
he talked about that, so he felt like there's closure
and it's kind of you know, people who reviewed the
movie were kind of critical about the movie that the
movie didn't really come to some solution. It almost felt

(08:57):
like the movie was half Nick Reiner's story and half
Rob Reiner's story of just can we just get on
to the next thing, because this is we're dealing with this.
Can we just make it right? You just want it
to be over and maybe it doesn't work like that.
This is where it took a huge twist this morning.
So apparently, according to TMZ, Rob Riyan or his wife Michelle,

(09:22):
and their son Nick went to Conan's Christmas party Saturday
night and there was a very loud argument between Rob
and Nick, loud enough for many others to hear. Rob
and Michelle left the party. They don't know if Nick
left then with them or whatever. I was just listening

(09:43):
to that podcast the other day with Conan O'Brien and
Will Arnette, and it's very funny. It's an hour that
you just got to hear. The big clip that we
played on the air is the one that's going viral
and all that stuff. It's an hour of greatness. It's
two guys who obviously love each other pretending like they
hate each other, just riffing. It's so good, and they're

(10:03):
talking about how Jason Bateman's always upset that he.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Never gets invited to Conan's Christmas party and all that.
It's so good.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
So it was funny, like it was in the last week,
listening about Conan's epic Christmas parties every year, and we're
finding out that they were there, you know, Saturday night,
and then this happened Sunday.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
So this happened last night.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
You're talking about these like real stories that make their
way into movies. Did have you guys seen the preview
for the new Will Arnette movie. Yeah, looks real, sad.
I wonder how much of that has to deal with
the divorce from Amy Pohler.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
You know, that's interesting.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
It's a Bradley Cooper you know, I guess Will ar
net Co wrote it, but Bradley Cooper's directing it.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
I mean, the if you've seen any of the clips,
it's like him and his ex wife Laura Dern don't
hate each other. Yeah, yeah, and I'm watching that going, man,
I wonder how much of this is about him and
Amy Poehler.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
So they so Rob Reiner, his wife, and their son
get into an argument at Conan's party. Yeah, and then
he's killed, stabbed and murdered the next night.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
Yeah, there's no telling how many A list people were
at that party and saw that and today are going,
oh my god, I can't believe he did that, because
I mean, I bet Adam Sandler was there. I mean,
all these guys who live in Conan's neighborhood. I mean, dude,
it's this is unbelievable to me that that's a movie

(11:23):
in itself.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
It is crazy. It's a crazy story. It's incredibly sad.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah, and there'll probably be warned, we can, you know,
we'll get into tomorrow and stuff.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
But yeah, not you man. You guys want to get
cheered up talking about the Cowboys. Yeah, it is.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
It is a level of happiness higher for sure. Coming
up next, we go around the sports. Let's talk about
the Trayvon Diggs dilemma. What the hell is going on
with the Dallas Cowboys. We'll discuss next
