Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cowboy surprise.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
An NFL trade deadline day.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
The Cowboys have acquired Quinn Williams, very good defensive tackle
from the Jets, so that ought to help. It only
cost them the twenty twenty six second round pick, their
twenty twenty seven first round pick, and Mazzie Smith, so
hopefully he can take his stuff that was in his
storage shed and get that up there in New York.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
I remember that story.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
No, but man, the Jets also traded sauce Gardner for
a bunch of picks, and dude, they got a ton of.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Picks the next two years.

Speaker 6 (00:44):
Yeah, and it makes you wonder if the Cowboys didn't
get enough for Micah if sauce Gardner brings that much back.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Great points, Yeah, great man, absolutely does so.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Yesterday Jerry made headlines because before the game, like all
the ESPN crew at Texas Live and after the first
take thing on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith then host his
radio show and he's got a set behind that bar
in that main area of Texas Live, you know where
all the TVs are in that area, and he's doing
a show. And then after the first segment, Michael Irvin

(01:18):
comes out and then about thirty minutes in Jerry shows up.
I must just like torturing myself because I listened to
this this morning, oh man. And I shouldn't have because
it's a big waste of time, honestly, but what Jerry
said and what happened there was very confusing. I'm also
wondering if Texas Live was just giving out free food

(01:40):
and drinks because there's a ton of people there and
it's a Monday. I just wonder if people have to
go to work and stuff. Maybe people just took the
day off, like I'm one of the cowboy game tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
That could be.

Speaker 5 (01:48):
But there was one time where Ben and I did
a like a Tuesday morning thing with Gullick in Greenberg
and it was like eight in the morning, and I
swear to god, there was one hundred and fifty people.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
Yeah, when we were at ESPN. BO to ESPN is
a weird.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Thing, and there's tons of people who probably just stream
ESPN or watch it, and so they're in town, so
they're all coming out because everybody's here, stephen A Vanpeld, everybody.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, so this is crazy.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
And I do think they were giving some food and
drink out because someone had some gastrotestinal issues. Maybe about
a minute and a half here this is Stephen and Jerry,
Stephen A. Smith and Jerry and Michael Irvin, and it's crazy.

Speaker 7 (02:26):
Talk to me about the possibility of bringing someone else
in but also getting what was going back, We're.

Speaker 8 (02:33):
Going to bring someone else, saying just so you know,
so okay, we're going to bring now you know, today
is today? Right now? Is the trade deadline? Right? Instead,
I'm hanging with my buddy right right.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
We should stop it. It was not the trade deadline.
Today is the trade deadline? And Jerry sings yesterday.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Yeah, so this was like what thirty six hours ago?

Speaker 8 (02:53):
Right Instead, I'm hanging with my buddy right right.

Speaker 7 (02:59):
The last time I said, rather than handling the defense,
ain't doing this? Well there we go. There we go
go on again with wool buddies. Now that really bothers me,
you know that, to be hanging with you guys with
the trade deadline. But trade deadline tomorrow at four o'clock,
Yes it is, and so.

Speaker 8 (03:16):
Time is nine.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
A lot of action going on right now in front
terms of trading, and we certainly have made.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
It old on on a lot of action going on
in terms of trading.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
That's a good one.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
The time is nine. A lot of action going on
in terms of trading.

Speaker 7 (03:35):
A lot of action going on right now in front
terms of trading. And we certainly have made a trade,
and we may make a couple of more trades before
that deadline.

Speaker 8 (03:44):
So you may make a couple of thrade before the
trade deadline. Well, we made we make We've made one, all.

Speaker 7 (03:49):
Right, you've made one. We made what was that for?
We possibly could make two more. And I'm gonna wait
and let you read about that. Okay, when we send
the papers in tomorrow. Okay, so you've.

Speaker 8 (03:58):
Already made He's already made a trade. That's a statement.

Speaker 6 (04:00):
He's got a couple of more come it tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (04:05):
Now, I'm not for sure because the other guys haven't
made the other end of on the other.

Speaker 8 (04:11):
Two trying to say somebody.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
We got somebody's crazy in louder than you right right, right, right, right,
right right.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
I means the whole time they're just people just yelling
out stuff during the show.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
And Steven A.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Smith had put his hand down up a couple of
times and be like just like controlling the crowd with
his hands.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
He both he has.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
It's crazy, man, But that's what that's the actual thing.
It's a little different than the context you just heard
reading tweets.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
There's a lot going on.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
And then last night after the loss, he's walking it back. Well,
I didn't say that we had made a trade.

Speaker 8 (05:00):
Like, no, you did say that.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
You absolutely said it.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:04):
Afterwards he was like, no, I said, we've kind of
agreed to trade, but we all need to agree on
it tomorrow to make it official.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
But it's there if I want it. Yeah, it's none.

Speaker 7 (05:13):
He did it.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Yeah, you know what, there is a chance there's a
chance that they woke up after the loss and we're like,
we shouldn't do this trade now. And Jerry's like, well,
I already told steven A I was doing it. We
kind of have to do it.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
Yeah, but they shouldn't make any deals that are just
for this year because this ye's cooked, right. But if
they're acquiring guys now at this deadline that can help
them next year in the following year, and it's a
reasonable cost, then yeah, go for it. Because you have
one of the best quarterbacks on earth. Go for it
while you have that.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
I think you're right, and I don't think these these
deals are hinder them in any way like they're they're committed,
and so it's really like a two or three year window.
I mean, maybe we'll talk about why don't we talk
about this.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Next Yeah, and I also have something someone's out there
or what Maddy Refluce really has to do involves looking
in the mirror, but it could help a lot.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
All right, Been and skin Show ninety one point one
The Eagle.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
We'll see you Friday at the chock Tak Casino and
Resort and Durant, Oklahoma. Come out join us. We'll be
there from three to six doing the show. We will
have a great time. Would love to see you there.
All right, Kat, we're halfway through a cussing the Cowboys
segment and you got the rock.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Well, I would say that with what the Cowboys have
done today, it's the type of thing that you wish
they would have done two weeks ago. Maybe because last
night's lost I still think is the kill shot on
the season.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
It's very likely.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I do think we should note that any like prognostication
that we made in September about the schedule, it has
changed with some of the things, like they don't have
they have a tough gauntlet coming up.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
But it's not like the worst back half schedule. In fact, they're.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
In one of the easier half of the league in
terms of their remaining schedule. It just you know, the Eagles,
Chiefs and Lines all back to back to back does
look pretty daunting.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
What do they have ten games?

Speaker 2 (07:04):
So they are three five and one, so they have
eight games left.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Have eight games? Okay, have eight games left, So they
need to go six and two to make the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
They need to go six and two to have a shot.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
Yeah, I think seven and one, seven and one would
get him in. Probably, Yeah. Probably.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
You just lost two horrible games that are flat out embarrassing,
and all of a sudden, your offense sucks.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Yeah, that's a that's a that's a problem.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
The offense is not playing well the last two games
is a problem. So here's what they need to do.
And I don't think this is gonna happen. I just
I don't like Jerry's made comments a lot about uh
he he really regrets the changeover at defensive coordinator. But
what the Cowboys have now with the trades they've made,
If we're just talking about fitting something to a personnel,

(07:47):
if they change their defense to a three four and
that would mean three down line. All right, Teddy, But
Kenny Clark, oh so digazoo uh and Quinn Williams, who you.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Just got all work that.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Donovan is Raku your second pick. Lasher is perfect for this.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Todeveon Clown he played this his whole career until he
got old overshown bag playing one of the middle spots.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Logan Wilson, who you just traded for.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
I'm I'm conjuring up something that's playable, Sam Williams.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
It fits him as well, like it that's what he played.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
In Fowler too, right, power Absolutely, I'm just saying they
just make the adjustment.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Said the secondary still trash.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
And will be you have a bye week.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
There's time to do this and you can test it
out against Effan Raiders who are two and six.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Like it's not the worst idea.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
And I don't think that's the plan because I just
that seems like too much of an undertaking. But if
there was a time to do it, it is now,
And I don't think it's crazy to do I'm just
and it's it sounds like.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Why wouldn't you do that?

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Because I think it's I think it's still ill fitting
parts if you don't do it.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
I was just sitting here thinking can you go ahead
and play Oc and Clark and Williams together? And I
was like, can you bump one of those guys to
the outside? But what you're talking about makes sense? Yeah,
And you're gonna get way more pressure on the quarterback
with five guys up there.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
It's crazy, right, Iberflus is like, hasn't budged on what
he believes in any It's like trying to make whoever's
there fit into his scheme. This is is he like
a three four? Has he ever done a three four?
I mean, honestly, they need a new defensive coordinat But.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Here's the other thing.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
So the Eberflu saying is like along the lines of
the Tampa two and so what I would say is,
and I don't know, I'm I'm asking when you have
a three four versus a four to three, how much
does that impact what you do with your secondary anyways?

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Not a lot?

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Not a lot?

Speaker 7 (09:56):
Right?

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Why is this a big deal? This is a point
that hit me last night. There was a play where
Trey McBride, the Cardinals tight end, who's probably the best
or second best tight end in the league. There was
a play last night where it was just Marquis Spell
trying to keep up with him in.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
Coverage and then he got hurt while doing it.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah, and that's where I went, That's that's a part
of the problem. Anytime you have Marquis Bell and Donovan Wilson,
who's mine against the run? One ya? Thomas Evan is
like nice guy, but it's like he's just no safeties,
no cornerbacks of drawn plans. Fine, I think maybe I
don't know. Kyrie Elumps should not like you shouldn't be starting,

(10:35):
but he asked du because they don't have any players.
Carson had to play a lot last night. We don't
know if he's good or not. Like it's just kind
of that doesn't get fixed. And that's all in third
and eighteen, you're trying to get there and they're just going, oh,
right over the middle, first down drive continues.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
This is the biggest problem for the Cowboys. They don't
have a real culture, they don't have any real accountability,
and you have an oil man gunslinger winging it. He's
just using his gut. They had any real direction. If
they knew that they weren't going to bring back George Pickens.
Then they would say, all right, let's trade. Let's go
ahead and cash in the rest of the season. Let's
trade George Pickens. Let's trade Kenny Clark if he's going

(11:11):
to be a cap casualty next year. Let's trade Javonte Williams.
Let's trade Trayvon digs Any. Go acquire as many picks
as you possibly can and take another run at it
this offseason of putting a real roster together and go
for it.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
You have money to spend, go get a bunch of picks.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
If these guys aren't sticking around, let them go cash
in the rest of the season.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
Now, I think you make a lot of sense.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
I think the one issue is that in the NFL
in general, you can leap frog three or four spots
in one off.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Season with minimal work. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
I mean, just go back and look at the last
ten years. Teams that are really well constructed, really good,
they're always at the top, and then the rest are
just flip flopping, and you can make one or two
moves and have a seismic shift if you stay relatively healthy.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
I say, say like they've they've been on Quentin Williams,
since I mean Quinn Williams. They were trying to trade
Mike It to the Jets. You know, Quinn Williams is
a guy they've been on for a long time. They
might have just been like, we wanted him. Either way,
he has nothing to do with what happened last night.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Or this year. He's there, Anthony Davis.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Quinn Williams is the guy. Yeah, absolutely, that's up to you.
Doesn't get hurt ever, and he's awesome all the time.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
But they wanted him for a long time.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Yeah, right, and je sucks. They're like, you can have it.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
There, you have it.

Speaker 6 (12:22):
There's Cuss and the Cowboys coming up next in the
weekly weekday Update. Don't miss this. The DFW target thief
is back in the news and we'll prove it with
newsman Kevin Turner next
