Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, we have a guy. He's been a guest
on our show. I'd stop short of calling him a friend.
I don't think he necessarily knows who we are, maybe,
but we've had him on our show before. In studio.
This is the dude who created top Golf, And coming
up in ten minutes, you might be shocked to find
out what he just bought next. That's coming up here momentarily.
But right now it's time for this. What's going on

(00:20):
in Dallas?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Dall?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
So I saw this this morning, and this is actually
pretty exciting. So Taylor Sheridan, we all know Taylor Sheridan.
He did Yellowstone and all kinds of cowboy Western stuff.
That's his thing.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I just found out. According to Ben, he wrote, Sacario.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Okay, didn't know that. Yeah, that's right, you told us
that last week. Well, apparently he also owns an entire studio.
It's called sg S Studios, and they are launching a
huge film and television production campus right here in Fort Worth.
It's hell yes, four underd and fifty thousand square feet.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Does it say where in Fort Worth it's going?

Speaker 3 (01:14):
It doesn't say. It says North Fort Worth And it's
gonna be two buildings, two giant buildings, but that allows
for four large scale productions to go on at a time,
and so obviously this is good for any anyone who's
into production in the area. I thought this was cool.
They are partnering with Terrent Counting College, great to offer
job training programs if you're into that thing. I think

(01:35):
that's huge. That's really really cool.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
But also they were saying that they're gonna need, you know,
like cops on site, They're gonna need real estate agents,
doctors like this is bringing a lot of jobs to
the area as well as just you know, tourists who
want to come and see what's being produced at these studios.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
This is super badass, Ben this is It reminds me
of what happened with Austin, Texas about twenty years ago
when and a lot of it had to do with
south By Southwest and Robert Rodriguez doing all those Quentin
Tarantino movies, but a bunch of film production moved there.
Richard Linkletter was a big part of it. Mcconaughhan, Sandra
Bullock moved to Austin. Became a whole thing, and it

(02:15):
benefits so many people. And I went to an event
a couple months ago. Our buddy the Doc was launching
a new charity that's going to benefit a bunch of
kids here in the did and one of Taylor Sheridan's
production partners was there because they had donated a bunch
of money to what the efforts of what the Doc

(02:38):
was doing, and he was up there talking about opportunities
in technology and entertainment for people that don't normally have
access to that sort of stuff. Like, you know, if
you're a young kid, what do you want to get
into technology? Especially for lower income areas, it's hard to
get technology. And then it's like being in the entertainment

(02:58):
industry seemed so far away. If you have someone in
your area that's as successful as him, that's pumping money
into it, it can create a whole biosphere of a
separate economy.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, and you know, I know that there's a lot
of businesses that are rushing to get to Texas just
because the laws and stuff are are a little easier
to or give you more incentives and whatnot than some
other states, whether it's taxes or whatever it may be.
And so, and I know that at the same time,
there's people running from California. So is this a part

(03:29):
of that ex it is combined with Texas trying to
incentivize people to come here and with their business centric
goals and like giving these massive incentives to people for
doing things like that.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Is that what this is? I would like to take
this moment, just on a personal level to take some
shots at Dallas place that I love. Fort Worth is
light years ahead of Dallas in terms of supporting their
arts community. There's a guy that I've dealt with in
Fort Worth named Tom Martin's that runs I think it's

(04:00):
called here. Fort Worth is the name of it, and
he's got so many programs and things going on to
help Fort Worth music artists. And because of this, there
is a major music festival that was happening in Nashville
that's starting next year is moving to Fort Worth. Exciting,
exciting because of the work of people like Tom Martin's

(04:23):
who you know, the city gets behind it. To Ben's point,
they incentivize entities, they make it easy to work with
and when you have We were talking the other day
about the idea of culture. Man. The art scene is
a huge part of the culture of any city. It
just is. The museums the music community, and that often,

(04:43):
you know, ties into venues and then also ties into
dining and all these things. I'm sorry, Dallas, I love you,
but fort Worth is kicking your ass in that department
and it ain't even close.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
So I was just googling it looking at this, and
it looks like December twenty twenty four, fort Worth City
Council will prove the creation of the Media Production Development
Zone in the Alliance area.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Is that where this is? I wonder, I'm not super
I think Alliance is north for.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Offering a two year use in sales tax exemptions for
film facilities.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Okay, that's what you do, man, You want that work
and make it easy for them to come work there.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, and you see different cities work this way, like, hey,
we're trying to keep tax dollars here. We'll offer incentives
for different businesses to come here because we know it'll
you know, and you have a limited amount of those
incentives to offer out. So good for them going for this,
and and these production studios are I think you're going
to start moving here more often.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Meanwhile, Dallas can't get out of it. Some what that's okay, man,
all right, it's the been in skin Show ninety seven
point one The Eagle, a local man helped create top golf,
and now he's done, doing something huge in the NBA.
What is it. We'll tell you next, right here on
the Eagle.
