Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, we're about ten minutes away from a little
(00:01):
Dallas Cowboys football news. We got food news coming up.
We got to talk about Jack in the Box, we
got the Today game, and we've got some gen Z news.
All that's coming your way on the Ben and Skin Show.
But right now it's time for this. What's going on
in Dallas? Dallas top all right, we're going to stay
(00:31):
up north. The ChB takeover is very very real. And Ben,
I got good news for you because August thirteenth, So
what is that? Is today? The eleventh? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Oh twelfth?
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Tom oh, so tomorrow, Ben, in your hood, the one
hundred and thirty two thousand square foot CHIB is opening.
So I drive by it every day and it's looking awesome,
Like I've fallen in love with AGIB. We didn't have
it here, you know until recently, right the last couple
(01:05):
of years a year badass and you know, I had heard,
you know, people say, man, the grocery store is really struggling,
and there have been a lot of a lot of
them that's been having issues. But I think it just
needed to be reimagined. A lot of people are like, well,
you know, you can order stuff, get it sent directly
to your door, and you know, and there were people
talking about grocery stores as if they were going to
(01:25):
go extinct. But the way ChB does it, I mean,
it is an adventure. It is awesome. Like I'm a
huge fan. I go there sometimes just a day. Yeah,
but particular is pretty cool because I noticed it as
I pass it twice a day and I was like,
they're building something and it's a weird thing. They're building
some kind of unique sign. And what they built was
(01:48):
one of those huge windmills, which is the logo for
prosper Okay, so they built a giant windmill with a
sign for that AGB store and put a Texas flag
on the back of it. It's like, I don't know, man,
is really cool. Whoever came up with that idea, bravo.
It's gonna be awesome. To your point, you got to
give someone a reason to go to something if you
can get it and deliver to your house. And they
(02:10):
have like that barbecue place there I think is good.
I think it's called Texas True Barbecue. I think it's good.
And they have several craft beers on tap, you know,
so that's a reason to go there.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Right, I've never been to h GB, so I don't
understand the hype.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Really it's dope.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
But now it's just those two things right there. I'm in.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
And that's so that sign. Here's this giant chain or whatever. Right,
I'm assuming it's a big chain, but they localized it
with that cool unique sign that really speaks to people
that live and prosper. That's their logo. See how many
people this place is going to employ? How many? I
mean this number just strikes me as like, what five
hundred and seventy Wow?
Speaker 2 (02:48):
They say like BUCkies too?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Oh, I don't know. That just seems like a ton
of people.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
But anyway, so that's coming to you, Ben. I'm freaking
out because we're like a week away from them opening
a Costco half a mile from my house, which is
gonna suck for me.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
More jobs, for more people skins.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
I know. I would like stick it around the corner,
put it away from my house. I don't want my
artery clogged. Like if I go right, it's outlet malls
and so, and if I go left, it's Costco. And
then they're building a resort across the street from Costco.
I'm trapped. I need a helicopter. You're moving. You gotta
get out of there. I gotta get out now. Yeah,
but you know wherever I go it's gonna cost too much.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Well, it's a buyer's market right now, trust me.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Okay, all right, so we're tracking that. Here's the other
thing that's not just me and Ben talking about ourselves.
It's news. It's in d magazine, it was on WFAA,
and we're very excited about it. And that's because our brewery,
Rollertown Beer Works, which is a brewery that me and
Ben are partner's in, it's hitting all the news services
(03:54):
now and primarily because we're going to be opening the
Frisco Mothership in October right there on Main Street. But
also like people are seeing who our investors are, and
it's guys like Travis Frederick and Dude Perfect, Michael Young.
And one very prominent guy has become a part of
this news story, and that's Dirk Novitzky because we have
(04:15):
a beer named after him called the big German. It's
a coolsh with minimal hops and a smooth finish. And
we have, with Dirk's permission, we have a new tap
handle that you were going to start seeing all over
the Metroplex anywhere that beer is on tap and it's
Dirk doing the one legged fade away, the iconic one
legged fade away. It's so damn cool and uh yeah,
(04:38):
you're about to see a lot of you know, some
of the press releases are going out on that. Really
cool to see people covering the story and it is news.
And dude, you even got a quote from Dirk on it,
which do you have it? Yeah? Okay, yeah, Dirk says,
I've been honored with a statue before, but nothing quite
like this. I love the tap handle. It turned out great.
(04:59):
I didn't sound like Eric obviously, and he likes it. Yeah,
and he worked with us on getting it just right
because like the the engineering involved and if it's going
to be a tap handle and people are gonna be
tugging on it and pulling on it, you couldn't. You
had to tweak it just to make sure it was
structurally sound. But still the one legged fade away, Yeah,
(05:19):
it's got to fit with other taps, so he can't
be leaning way far back like he does on the statue.
And then on top of that, like the release point
of where the ball is, we had to have it
connected to his head, because the more things you have
going off the tap handle, the easier it is to
break them. So it had to be structurally sound, it
(05:40):
had to look like Dirk, it had to fit in
a row of taps. So a lot went into it.
But for me and Ben and everyone at roller Town,
we were I'll say it, we were stressed because you
want to honor him properly. Yeah, and so it's like,
oh God, I hope he's okay with this and he
likes it, and you know he doesn't feel pressured.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Man.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
He genuinely was happy with it. He made jokes about it,
because that's what Dirk does. But like that quote says
it all man.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, it's badass. I'm excited for you guys, because who's
not going to go to a bar if that's on
tap and not just saying hey, like I don't even
care what beard is. I want that. That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Or do you hate Dallas?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Yeah, I hate great things. Do you hate championships?
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Thank you Christina and fantastic work there. There's what's going
on in Dallas?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
All right?
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Coming up next just over three minutes away. Let's keep
it on sports a little bit as Shody fires himself
and Dak weighs in on the Mica situation that's coming
up in just over three minutes, So don't go anywhere
