Speaker 1 (00:01):
The Iran prisoner swap. It's happened, my friends. How much
did it cost us? More than a billion dollars per
American who are now on their way back to the
United States of America. Yes, I am very happy as
we saw the images of the Americans walking off the
plane in Qatar, and these five Americans who spent years

(00:23):
in prison in Iran were freed on Monday as part
of a complex diplomatic deal That's what the White House
described it as with the United States of America and Iran.
Now these hostages who were flown out of Tehran to
Qatar are now flying back to Washington, d C. On
a US government plane as part of the deal. The

(00:45):
Biden administration also unfroze This is paying ransom, whether they
want to lie to you or not, that's what this is.
We unfroze nearly six billion in oil revenue that have
been held in South Korea since twenty eighteen. The Iranian
Foreign minister said two of the Iranian prisoners held in

(01:05):
the United States planned to stay in the US and
two planned to return to Iran, and one would go
to a different country where family lived. Those are the
ones we exchanged with Iran for our American citizens, and
by the way, we paid over a billion dollars for
each American life. President Biden said in a statement, five
innocent Americans who were imprisoned in Iran are finally coming home.

(01:28):
I'm grateful to our partners at home and abroad for
their tireless efforts to help us achieve this outcome, including
the governments of Qatar, Oman, Switzerland, and South Korea. Now,
these five Americans that were being held in Iran as
part of this prisoner swap deal. Of course, the US
government wants you to believe that this was not a

(01:52):
pay ransom plot. It is, however, because we unfroze a
seven billion of Iran's oil revenue that had been held
for years. The five Iranian systems being held in the
US were also released in this exchange. They didn't give
us any money or unfreeze any assets or anything like
that at all. So this was clearly a one sided deal.

(02:14):
This is a president, by the way, that promised we
weren't going to pay right, we weren't going to pay
ransom for Americans. Well we now know he will pay
more than a billion dollars per American that we left
behind now. The prisoners we also have been told they
felt like they were left behind to rot in an

(02:35):
Iranian prison. One of the men who had been detained
in Tehran since twenty fifteen, while visiting family, wrote a
New York Times op ed in June of last year
entitled I'm an American? Why have I been left to rot?
As a hostage of Iran?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Now?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
USA Today did an extensive kind of look into this
man and and the details of what living in this
Iranian prison was actually like. Now, this hostage when he
told his story in this op ed, said it was
horrendous how he was treated, especially early on, saying this
quote often. I was kept in a bare closet size room.

(03:18):
He slept on the floor, he said, and received food
from under the door, just like he was a dog.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
He said.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
He endured unutterable indignities during the twenty seven months he
spent in that corner of hell before being moved.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
To the general ward.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
He pleaded to President Biden for help, according to USA Today,
writing in a message shared by his lawyer, saying this
all I want, sir, is one min of your day's
time for the next seven days devoted to thinking about
the tribulations of the US hostages in Iran. Well, this
is going to be treated by the media, by the way,

(03:57):
as a big victory for the Biden A minister. Obviously,
I'm glad that these Americans are back. What I'm not
happy about is the fact that we have paid more
than a billion dollars per hostage, and that means that
others around the world are going to end up taking
more American hostages when they can, because they know the
Biden administration will pay now ransom now Biden, of course,

(04:22):
the White House not letting any of that just disappoint
their media day and the families of the five Americans
freed from the from Iran spoke to President Biden on Monday.
According to the family members of those who had been released,
CBS News report that Biden a national security advisor Jake Sullivan,
spoke with all five families on the same call for

(04:45):
just under ten minutes. Biden told the families he started
the process to bring their loved ones home when he
took office in twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Now.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
The breakdown of the US sanctions on Iran is also
another part of the story that's not been covered. The
prisoner swap was underway, there was something else that happened.
The United States announced on Monday that it has been
that it has imposed quote news sanctions on Iran's intelligence
ministry and the former president over the disappearance of Bob Levinson,

(05:19):
who's a former FBI agent who disappeared in Iran in
mysterious circumstances and is presumed dead. Iran is already one
of the world's most sanctioned countries, and AFP had to
break down of those sanctions that they published this morning.
And let's go back so you understand the history of

(05:39):
this country. If you go back to the Iranian hostage
crisis back in April of nineteen eighty, that was midway
through that four hundred and forty four day hostage crisis
of the US embassy in Tehran. Washington not only broke
off diplomatic relations with Iran and imposed restrictions on commerce
and travel, but fifteen years later, then President Bill Clinton

(06:02):
announced a complete ban on trade and investment in Iran,
accusing of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons and supporting terrorism.
To this day, nearly all US trade with Iran is banned,
from oil to cars, to carpet and even food. There
are some exceptions, as well as medicine and humanitarian goods.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Then you look at the arms race.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
The US continues to ban the trade of all weapons
with Iran, even though they have plenty of weapons at
their disposal. Three years after a US arms and UN
excuse me, arms embargo on Iran expired. The UN embargo
ran out under the terms of an international deal on
curbing Iran's nuclear program, from which then President Donald Trump

(06:46):
withdrew from in twenty eighteen. But the US continues to
sanction any individual entity in the US or elsewhere that
trades weapons with Iran. And then you've got the financial
aspect as well. The US blox Iranian government assets in
the United States and banns US companies from engaging in
business with Iran central bank. It also bans American banks

(07:09):
from serving as intermediaries in the transfer of funds to Iran,
and in twenty eighteen, the Trump administration expanded the sanctions
to foreign institutions that do business with Iran's central bank.
They risk losing access to the US financial system if
they try to go around this.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
And then there's the issue of oil.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
After having already banned oil exports to the United States Washington,
in nineteen ninety six enacted a law also sanctioning foreign
companies that invest in Iran's oil sector, the country's top
foreign exchange earner.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
For them. Without it, they're poor.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
In twenty nineteen, the US lifted exemptions that it allowed
eight countries, including Turkey and India, to continue purchasing Iranian oil,
causing a collapse in the Iranian oil exports. But don't worry,
Joe Biden's back and off and now everything's fine and Iran.
There was also a big lie. It was a massive
lie that was told. The White House said that the

(08:08):
money that we had given them access to, this six
billion dollars, right, more than a billion per person American
that we got back, is what they received in this
deal was only going to be used for quote, humanitarian
reasons or humanitarian purposes.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
We also know now that that is a lie.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
The Iranian president said, they'll use the money for whatever
the hell they want to laughing at this idea, right,
I mean literally laughing at the idea that we or
that they were going to be told where they could
and could not spend the six billion dollars that they
just got their hands on. But First, I want to

(08:49):
tell you about a company that I really want you
to check out. Every day we hear about another familiar
brand that sells out their customers and is going on.
Americans like me and you're probably one of them, are
sick and tired of having leftist propaganda jammed into every
product that we consume. Well, woke mobile companies are no different.

(09:13):
The company that you're paying your bill to right now
may be giving major donations to Planned Parenthood, for example,
and for years they've been dumping millions of these liberal
causes and we had to take it because you need
a cell phone and probably thought there was no alternative.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Well, I've got news for you.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
There is, and I want you to make the switch
and stand up for a company that stands up for
your values. Patriot Mobile is America's only Christian conservative wireless provider,
offering dependable nationwide coverage on all three major networks. That
means you get the best possible service in your area period.
But guess what you do lose the leftist propaganda. Now,

(09:50):
when you switch to Patriot Mobile, you're sending a message
that you support free speech, religious freedom, the sanctity of life,
the Second Amendment, are military veterans and first responder heroes.
That's because they give a piece of your bill every
month to those causes. They have one hundred percent US
based customer service team that makes switching easy. So just
go to Patriotmobile dot com slash ferguson. It's Patriot Mobile

(10:15):
dot com slash ferguson, or you can call them eight
seven eight Patriot. That's eight seven eight Patriot. Get free
activation today with the offer code ferguson. Ask about their
coverage guarantee when you're on the phone with them. Get
the same dependable service and take a stand for your values.
Make the switch today Patriotmobile dot com slash ferguson or
eight seven eight Patriot. There's another aspect to this deal

(10:40):
that we also have to talk about, and that is, now,
how many more Americans are going to be taken hostage
because we just paid all of this money. Now, while
President Biden is being hailed as a hero for the
return of these Americans that have been imprisoned, and Iran
Republicans also on Capitol Hill are lashing out this deal saying, quote,

(11:03):
this is a hostage swap for six billion. That's what
represented Michael McCall, a Republican from Texas and chairman of
the House Foreign Relations Committee, said on Fox and He said, quote,
and guess where it's going to go. It's going to
go into terror proxy operations. He's absolutely right. Even Senator
Mitt Romney, who I rarely agree with, also characterized the

(11:24):
deal as a hostage swap, warning that the exchange could
lead to more kidnappings of American citizens. Quote The idea
basically paying to release in this effect a hostage is
a terrible idea, Romney said to The Hill newspaper. Republicans
are also lashing out at Biden over the deal as
a I the Democrat, is the number one threat to

(11:46):
national security. This is a hostage swap for six billion,
is what another Republican said. And former President Donald Trump,
the front runner in the twenty twenty four Republican primary,
criticized Biden with the deal was announced last week, saying quote,
can you believe that Crooked Joe Biden is giving six
billion to the terrorist regime in Iran? The money can

(12:08):
be used for terrorism all over the Middle East and
indeed the world. This incompetent fool, all capital letters is
absolutely destroying America. Trump wrote on True Social adding he
had the audacity to announce this terrible deal today. It
happened on September the eleventh. To pay for hostages will

(12:28):
lead to kidnapping, ransom, and blackmail against Americans across the globe.
Now I'm glad these Americans are coming back in general,
I really am. I want to make that clear. But
this idea that this is a good thing, it's not.
It's not a good thing for this country, and it's
certainly not a good thing for the world because now

(12:49):
Americans are worth even more. And what the Biden administration
is said is we, as Americans, okay, are willing to
pay you if you take Americans, and we're willing to
give you a lot of money. Let me also remind
you about the announcement of this happened on nine to eleven.
Why well, listen to what Scott Kirby had to say

(13:11):
about that.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
John Kirby told me, essentially, the dates are a coincidence.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Not tied to nine to eleven, not tied to the
You and General Assembly, simply tied to the hard work
over months and months and months by diplomats to secure
this release.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
You're telling me that nobody at the State Department, the
DoD or the White House looked at the calendar when
announcing that we're going to send six billion dollars to Iran,
the number one killer of Americans after nine to eleven
in Iraq and Afghanistan, who were making sure that there
was safe haven in safe harbor for terrorists to go
in and out of those countries. You're telling me that

(13:49):
you no one said, hey, we probably shouldn't give six
million dollars to Iran on the same day as nine
to eleven. To be clear, i Ran supports terrorism around
the world. Iran supports Hesblah, Iran supports Hamas, Iran supports
al Qaeda and ISIS. Iran supports the most extreme fighters

(14:11):
in the world. They have no problem with it. They
still to this day chant death to America. And you
just gave them back six billion dollars. Let's also remember that,
if you're forty or forty one or above, this is
the same country that held American hostages in our embassy

(14:33):
for four hundred and forty four days in our lifetime.
And so now we're sitting here seeing them six billion
dollars and Scott Kirby's like, oh, no, no, there was,
there was, There was not tied to nine to eleven.
It wasn't really. Scott Kirby was also on CNN and

(14:54):
had this to say about the quote takeaways from the day.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Finally, you represent, you speak for national security issues for
the White House, for this administration. How is US national
security better today because of this deal? And not worse off?
As I've heard many Republicans say.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
First of all, what's really better off our five families?
So I think that's really important to remember number two.
As I said earlier, Well, we just executed more sanctions
on entities in Iran today, specifically for the offense of
wrongfully detaining Americans, And just in the last couple of weeks,
we've upped our military presence in the Gulf region. We

(15:33):
added some additional sanctions on Iran just a few days ago.
I mean, we are holding Iran to account, and we
are mindful of our national security interests in the region,
and we're doing everything we can, not just on the
economic space, but even in the military space, to protect
our troops, to protect our interests, to protect our allies
and partners in that part of the world. No one
should take away from today's events. Any idea that we

(15:53):
are somehow turning a blind eye to what Iran is
doing in the region or around the world.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Not at all. Quite the contrary.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
We're seeing, though, as we just saw in that video
from Iran, are Americans on their way home and families
who are going to.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
I love how they wrap that up right.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
You notice how they're like, oh, well, what we're seeing
is americans coming home. You need to be happy about this.
You don't need to ask any questions. We're not turning
a blind eye to what's happening and what Iran is doing. Well,
then why did you send them six billion dollars? Because
if you're not turning a blind eye and you're looking
at what they're doing, you would know this is a
regime that you do not give six billion dollars too.

(16:32):
John Kirby on the Iran swap deal also to the
regime does not get their hands on the money.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
That is a lie.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Listen, speaking of President you know we've talked about this
many times before the President that critics of this agreement
or any kind of negotiation in this way have of
what they're looking at. Because what Iran often wants is
it wants it's money. So you've got six billion dollars
of Iranian money that they now regain access to for
humanitarian purposes. What can the United States do if it

(16:59):
is seen that they're using this money not for food,
not for medicine, for bad reasons.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Lock it back down.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
We can stop a transaction. It's important to remember, Kate,
that the regime doesn't get the money. That they can
request a withdrawal for humanitarian goods, agricultural products, medical supplies, food,
and then we will run a process through which those
goods are contracted for. The Iranians don't even get to
let the contracts. We'll make sure that the contracts are

(17:25):
let with vendors that we know we can trust, and
then that material will be delivered to the Iranian people.
The Iranian regime does not get hands on this money.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Now here's the problem. Iran says they can do whatever
they want to do. The Iranian president said, they're going
to do whatever they want to do. And here's the
other thing. If you get let's just say a big
you know, hey, we want to spend a billion dollars
on X. Well, once it gets into the hands of
the Iranian I'm sure they could probably already have a
buyer for it and sell it and get their money

(17:55):
that way. You don't think Iran's going to call other
countries and other broke around them and say, hey, what
do you need that is in these categories and we'll
give you ten percent off so that we get you know,
nine hundred ninety nine million, you know, and instead of
the one billion in our bank accounts. If this is
to believe, by the way, I don't believe that the
US government's not going to get screwed on this one.

(18:17):
I think the US government is going to always get
screwed when you're dealing with a terrorist organization. They keep saying, oh,
this is a great thing, and the Uranian regime will
never get their hands on the money. Let's be very
clear about this, They absolutely will. Democratic Representative Crow, by
the way, said the prisoner swap deal with Iran has
actually created an additional quote oversight on the six billion, not less.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
This is the way they're going to spend this. I
want you to be ready for it.

Speaker 5 (18:43):
All right, We have breaking news right now at half
past the hour, five Americans have been freed in a
prisoner swap between the US and Iran. A Katari plane
carrying them took them off took off from Tehran not
too long ago. According to a senior dip met in
the region with knowledge of the prisoner exchange, we're told

(19:04):
the freed prisoners are accompanied by two of their relatives
as well as the Katari ambassador to Iran. They are
reportedly in good health, but we'll get quick medical checks
before they head to America. This after years of negotiations
to bring the detainees home. In exchange for the imprisoned Americans,

(19:27):
Tehran will gain access to about six billion dollars in
frozen funds. For more now on this and much more.
Joining US now, Democratic Member of the House Armed Services Committee,
Congressman Jason Growe of Colorado. He's a US Army veteran
who served our country in both Iraq and Afghanistan. So,

(19:48):
from your many perspective in including the committees that you
said on, what do you make of this prisoner swap
from what we know so far?

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Well, good morning.

Speaker 6 (19:58):
I mean, this prisoner swap is actually a good deal
for the United States. Number One, we don't leave our
people behind.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
We just don't.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
Every administration has done swaps like this.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
But I love this. He's like, we don't leave our
people behind. Well you have for a while. Number one,
that's not true. We still have Americans left behind in Russia.
You guys did a prisoner swap recently in Russia, and
you decide a lesbian basketball player was more important than
an American citizen who is just a random white dude there.
So don't tell me we don't leave Americans behind. Second

(20:29):
thing is you said there's president here, then people do
this all the time, right like that, Oh, we do
this all the time. Give me another example of where
an American has been paid for at more than a
billion dollars in a prisoner swap. You will not find it.
And the reason why is because it doesn't happen. It's
never happened.

Speaker 6 (20:51):
Just to make sure we're getting US citizens out of Iran,
Iran does this. They take hostages and they try to
gain leverage. So you know, every American should know don't
travel to Iran because you are at risk of being
taken hostage. But there's also we have to correct a
misunderstanding here. These funds were not frozen funds. The United
States is not making this money available. This money came

(21:12):
from a fund that the prior administration that the Trump
administration negotiated with several countries that allowed them to purchase
Iranian oil in exchange for medical supplies in food and
medicine South Korea, and this instance did that they purchased
some oil and that money was allocated to food, medicine,
and medical supplies. This money could be spent or could

(21:35):
be sent to Iran. Today the South Koreans could do that.
We were able to negotiate additional restrictions on top of
the restrictions already in place for this money, additional restrictions
and oversight through the Treasury Department to make sure this
money is only being spent for those purposes. So this
deal actually created additional oversight on that money, not less.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
So Congress, by the way, this is another part of
this lie here. Oh, it's more oversight, not less. There's
no because when they couldn't have the money, you didn't
need this type of oversight. The reason why you're having
to make this up now is because they have access
to the money. So you're still misleading at best, lying

(22:16):
in reality to the American people and to the world.
And everybody knows that Iran. The President of Ran said
we will use this money however we want. They know
how to lie, they know they know how to cheat,
they know how to steal. They're going to know how
to manipulate the system. And I promise you this money

(22:37):
is going to be used as six billion dollars is
not going to be used for humanitarian reasons all the time.
Some of it might sure to check a box. They
may say, oh, look what we did with this amount
of money. See everything's good, there's our cover. Meanwhile, they
funnel the money. They also know how to sell goods.
Iran's not stupid. If you can take six billion, hypothetically

(22:58):
and turn into five billion of cash by buying six
billion and a product that somebody else wants and they
get a discount, that's a good deal because you still
got your hands on five billion dollars that you can
use however the hell you want to. Why would we
ever trust the Iranians with any of this money, knowing
what they do. You know, if you're a man or
a woman that served this country and you were blown

(23:20):
up by a roadside bomb, the probability that roadside bomb
came through Iran is about ninety plus percent based on
the latest data that we have. We know that many
of the jihadis used Iran as as a gate to
go in and out and back to protection, into a
protected area when they need to rest. We saw that

(23:42):
there were the Toyota trucks that would be going through
the desert. They would do their hits and where would
they flee to. They would flee to Iran. We have
the drone video of them crossing the border into Iran.
A Ran was harboring terrists for the entire time that
we were in Iraq and Afghanistan. And when the terrorists
knew they need to fight America, they need to bring
in new soldiers after we had invaded, where did they go.

(24:03):
They went to I Ran first and they said we
need your help, and Iran said sure. And that's who
he just gave all of this money too. And the
White House wants you to believe that this is no
big deal. Now, I understand why they did this deal,
and I want you to understand why they've done this deal.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
They've got some problems right now.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
Okay, you have the Biden impeachment inquiry, where the facts
and the emails and the suspicious astivity reports and the
whistleblowers and the meetings and the phone calls are so damning.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
The White House needed a victory. Okay.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
You also have the United Auto Workers that are fighting
for the the they say, the American dream, which is
work hard and play by the rules. And now they're
being squeezed out right. The Democrats were supposed to protect them.
They have not done that. Hakeem Jefferies was on TV
talking about this as the as this this has really happened.

(24:57):
The UAW fight is now happening in this that's happening,
and how these people are going to be have a job.
Democrats are to blame for this because they promised they
were going to get deals done that they didn't get
done if the UAW actually voted for them. This is
one of the promises in Michigan where the governor there, Whitmer,
was saying, vote for me again.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
I'll hook you guys up. She lied to them.

Speaker 7 (25:18):
Obviously.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
This is happening against the backdrop.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
Of the UAW strike.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Are you going to Detroit? Are you with the auto
workers on this?

Speaker 7 (25:27):
I'll be heading to Detroit a little later on today,
looking forward to standing and solidarity with the United Auto
Workers who are fighting for the fundamental American dream, which
is quite simple. If you work hard and play by
the rules, you should be able to provide a comfortable
living for yourself, for your family, educate your children, purchase

(25:49):
a home, and one day retire with grace and dignity.
That's the principle upon which the United Auto Workers are
standing and I stand with them. Long you think this
is going to drag on, well, I think it's all
of our hope that it will end sooner rather than later.
But record profits have been generated, Incredible economic prosperity has

(26:12):
been generated for the corporations upon whom the UAW works with,
and so I think it's only fair that everyone share
in those record profits, in the prosperity that has been created.
That's a fundamental American principle. That's why we were able
to build in the aftermath of World War II the
great American middle class, and we need to keep that

(26:35):
going for everyone.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Now you hear him there talking about this, and let
me tell you, the auto workers are furious with Democrats
because everything that they promised them they lied to them about,
they played them, and now they understand that it was
a lie on a level that was I mean, it
was a fraud.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
It was a straight up massive fraud.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
They promised the UAW that if you voted for Democrats,
the Democrats were going to take care of you and
get you a good deal. And that didn't happen. Didn't happen, folks,
And the reason why it didn't happen was also very clear,
because they'll always lie to you to get your vote.
They don't give a crap. And so you put these

(27:21):
stories together. You have the economy that's bad. You have
high unemployment rates that we're starting to see tick up.
You see what's going on Wall Street. You see what's
happening with interest rates of twenty one year high on homes.
You see the auto workers fighting back now and now
they're on this strike that could take quite some time.
You have this hostage crisis where they're trying to spend

(27:41):
this to say this is a great day for America,
even though it puts more American lives at risk around
the world. Right, the six billion dollars and what does
this all come back down to comes back down to
this issue. The President of the United States of America
is looking for a distraction because the biggest issues, the

(28:01):
most concerning issues about impeachment are coming up. This boils
down to a present that desperately needs a change.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
Look it.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
By the way, this and I'm going to talk about
this more tomorrow, I promise you. But Hunter Biden actually
sue is suing the IRS. He sues the IRS. He
claims the wistle blower agents quote targeted and sought to
embarrass him by discussing his tax returns. He's now suing
like they did something wrong. He filed a lawsuit against
