Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is the Big Bend Outdoor Show with Joel Baldry.
Today's guest include Captain Kenny mullins Dale, Bessie. Here's your
special guest host, Captain Paul Tyre.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Welcome to the Big Ben Outdoor Show. This is Captain
Paul Tyre. We got the host Joel Baltry. Captain Joel
Baldry on the pall with us. He's calling in from
down there on the somewhere on the coast, helping people,
changing people's lives. You there, Joel, I'm here.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
This is just how are you full of time? He's
doing a good job.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Actually I got.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Dale looking at me.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Yeah, I'm looking at him. I'm looking at him. Yeah.
I gotta tell you something, Joe. I'd live for the
day you get back your brother. We miss you, sir.
We love Paul, and we love Kenny, and we love Tanner,
we love everybody, but we missed you brother. I know

(00:59):
you've been doing it just yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
We're trying to help anybody we can right now.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yeah, you've been down there now since the storm went through.
And of course I'm gonna be down there Sunday morning
at the boat ramp with smoking nuts. Not but barbecue.
They plan on feeding a bunch of people Sunday on

(01:23):
and helping, you know, trying to be a part of it,
trying to help and do their part and everything. And
you know it's all free of charge. So I tell
you friends, tell you neighbors that there's gonna be some
good barbecue served up Sunday at lunchtime out there. And
of course I expect hopefully I'll see you and and

(01:43):
and the folks down there are coming by and grabbing
a plate so we can fellowship and and have some
good conversation. But in the meantime, Joel uh tell us
about what's going on.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Man, just you know, the community has coming together a lot.
So I've seen a lot of tears come out and
helping people and it's amazing, you know, idea to meet.
We spent a lot of people uptown because you know,
the town of Perry got hit pretty hard well this time,
you know Ferry that you know they've still got damaged.

(02:16):
Don't get me there wrong, But it wasn't nothing like
the beach. At the beach, there's a lot of home closts,
you know, a hundred plus homes gone, and people really
just come together that they can get a lot of damage.
And Ferry. They're all down there at the beach like
it was there in idea. The beach people at them
at the town of Ferry help them. So there's a
lot of people stepped up. I mean they've been feeding them,

(02:36):
you know, the burd Rackets, you know, especially you know,
they was just distributing center and they were taking in
a lot of stuff. I know Webb and then was
taking in a lot of stuff at Decle and as
Stein Hashey and then you know of course Haley Blanco
and Lindsey Vaughn with Mancio. They were at the public
beach boat ramp and they've been there every day. You know.

(02:58):
I think they closed a couple of the smaller ones down.
I think the bird Rack, which is owned by mister Amy,
Miss Amy and mister Buddy. They they backed to normal,
but they moved everything to the public boat ramp and
people still needing stuff, and the Forestein Hatche they still
got theirs open, so they had a lot of people
have been putting out from all over. You know, I

(03:19):
just got a loaded yesterday my mom brought from Pestacola,
you know, half some of aola of stuff whether all
kinds of stuff supplies. So that was just you know,
it wasn't just my mom, Yes, she brought it down here,
but they was people you know, from all over Pestacola
and Jay and everywhere like that and donated to words
just and you know, they they've been through it, man,

(03:42):
they've been through it more time than we have. And
it's just been scattered out, you know Ivan. But Hurricane
Ivan hit the roughens Cola that wipe my little hometown out,
you know, then Michael hits you know, that was a
big part of Michael hitting. All the people that way,
you know, from the west side of Florida has been
through these hurricanes that we're going through. Now we just
now I hate it, but you know, we just I'm

(04:02):
glad that we took this loan, but I still hate
it happened. But there we're seeing, you know, just a
little bit of a taste of what they've seem the
last twenty years. And you know, it wasn't nothing to
a lot of us. So a lot of them didn't
go over there and see what a category four or
five looks like when it his right. But now they
know what you know, Now they know what a category
four looks like when it hiss by looking at our beaches.

(04:24):
But we've been blessed. Like I said, you know, all
the people are helping out from all over. I appreciate them,
you know, especially them coming together there around that area.
All the pensacolasa you know, Uh Chambers construction. Uh have
Martha Chavs, my cousin, Heather Chambers. They all they all
piled in on a big help to you know, supply
clothes and stuff. The baby dieds so they're not good man.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
What would you say is still needed down there?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Jill that I honestly, if I had to guess without asking,
you know, some of them girls is in jars like
Haley blocoing. Now, I'd say, you know, cleaning supplies more
than anything, because they're said the houses that's still standing. Man,
all them houses got mud and if they wasn't up
to code, if they weren't twenty feet in there, they
got piles of mud in them. I mean, I don't

(05:10):
know if you had any intention to see hag Marina
down understanding hatch you on Facebook, but they had a
big crew coming there and have them go on their
second floor. The last couple of storms. You know, they
never made it to the second floor, but they had
six or seven inches of mud on their second floor.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
So I mean all the places find that. Yeah, they're
always need something. So man, that does good for like us.
You know, Sunday y'all know, y'all gonna have them guys
down their feeding them. That means a lot of them
people not only that you know, don't have a place
to cook a hot meal, but for the workers down there,
you know, putting their time out free, you had to
have a hot meal, you know hat you know, standing

(05:46):
because they ain't nowhere, you know, five ten miles down
the road and get a hot meal. Right now, they're
starting to get a lot of the power back down there.
I do say, that's some good things out and so
it's just you know, it's gonna time thing is well.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Well, And most people don't realize because the news, you know,
everything is so recent with the last and I say
the last hurricane meaning the one before the one that
just hit yesterday. Uh, you know the one that went
up through the mountains and everything. Man, it's been it's
going on three weeks now.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
People people love them. They still can't get out.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Yeah, they're stuck. There's a lot of people still out there,
sovereign that need everything, clothes and food and this and
that and everything else. But it's amazing how to think
that that hurricane was three weeks ago. Idelia was even
longer than that. But if you put them all together,
it seems like everything this again happened last week and

(06:56):
now now with this hurricane, that this went through central Florida,
southern you know, southern central Florida. I got a family
down there on Christmas and uh, you know, I've got
pictures and they did, okay, very blessed there. They you know,
all my family members reported in everybody's safe, minor damages

(07:19):
and everything. But they weren't. You know, they don't live
on the west coast of Florida, and uh they live
closer to the east coast, about forty five minutes actually
from the East coast.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
So yeah, I've seen a thing on Facebook the other
day talking about people on the East coast are having
picnics and then on the west coats and got tired
riding sales.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Oh yeah, yeah, you know they that was crazy they did.
There's a post that went out a couple of days
ago or no, yesterday. Actually, what am I saying? Where
they were there's a shipping, you know, ship out in
the Gulf going through the hurricane, and they filmed it.

(07:59):
And I'm like, I don't even know how you made it,
because it's my understanding that they had I think somewhere
that's like twenty eight foot waves.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
I would I wouldn't doubt it. You know, when when
Michael come in in Pama City, I think it. I
can't remember what marker was out there that looked at
everything on the wave height. But Noah, but out a
thing seventy five foot seas.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Yeah, I don't even know what a seventy five foot
wave looks like. Man, I wouldn't even know what to think.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I wouldn't want to know what looks like.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
No, So you know, yeah, I mean if we were
to tell anybody anything, I guess let's uh give what
you can and uh pray every day.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
So I thought you could do. I talked to Kensey
Willer this morning on the phone. You know, they stayed.
They lived right in the Tampa area, and his dad,
him and his dad, they were kind of freaking out
regret and staying. He said that they put the whole
thing that saved their house and putting that tin over
the windows. They went on a bunch of tea and
put up. But they said that house was creaking and

(09:03):
bomping a low wood out and uh they said they
got a little road there for a few hours.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Yeah, that's I talked with my niece earlier today and
she said that, you know, that was the noise was
the big deal. The noise from the winds, the things
hitting the house that they couldn't see because it was
at nighttime, but they could hear it. And she got
up this morning. She's got shingles in the yard, some limbs.

(09:33):
Her front porch is pretty much gone. It took the
front porch off her house. And uh, but it just
moved it. I told her, I said, you know, I said,
that porch looks like asalgeble. So we can save that
man this getting the tractor and pull it back over
in place, and I'll get your dad to brace that
bugger up and all. But uh, in general, uh, I

(09:56):
know you've been you've been helping so many people U
with the airboat and your efforts and your you know,
all your friends and everybody down there and everything and
at the same time you're you're going through other things
in life, and that's what everybody is experiencing. And I
was just I just had a conversation with the customer

(10:17):
earlier and I told him, I said, you know, it's
everywhere you look, there's something happening that's not normal.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
I tell you, I get a lot of praise, but
I don't deserve all the praise. It wasn't for my
family being there in the background helping with everything else,
especially like a long time. Uh. He had Jess and Mom,
all them with their hair pulled out. By the time
I got back last week, they were they were ready

(10:47):
for a break.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Well about the dark So yeah, and why were they
pulling their hair out?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Oh? Well running around?

Speaker 4 (10:58):
No, not my dog now. And that I'll tell you
what what a blessing he is. He is such a
great boy and all. And I can't imagine, you know,
I just can't imagine that. That sounds like too much
fun there because that you know that boy he is, Uh,
he's very knowledgeable for a young man his age.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Ye that overloads of the bridges.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Sometimes, I hear you. I wonder where he gets up from.
So with that being said, hey, hey, Tyson. We'll get
right back to you, buddy. We're getting ready to go
into a break, y'all. Stay tuned, we'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Welcome back to the Big Band Outdoor Show. We got
Captain Joel Baldry on the phone with us and with
me and Dale and looking forward to getting in some
more of his conversation about what he's seeing down there.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Go ahead, Joel, Yeah, man, that's that's just you know,
like I said, you can't elaborak. You know the stuff
that's going on down here for you just got to
see it in personally. I'll see it Sunday. Other damages
and how people's come together and helping everybody, helping the
owners of their housings and stuff. And you know, even
people in a district town right now with the economy

(12:13):
going on like it is. Everybody here even though they
haven't got a house, and I'm sure they get the
people's getting helped one way or another. Have you you
want to.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Have you seen Feaema they are helping out to man.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Femini has been in and out. But you know it's
just like these insurance companies, these people getting denied already
they have flood and regular insurance. They they already in
the battles of the flood and the regular insurance people ever,
who's going to replace what? So that's the normal thing
about insurance company. You know, they probably don't have to
send no more out on the air about but you
know what I mean, you get what I'm putting down.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Yeah, they are taking money and then they don't want
to pay for anything.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
FEMA was broke to data storm hit. I mean, that's
what they keep saying. If they they helping or not,
I would hope they are. But uh, you know it's
been more than that. More just you know, the neighbors
and counties and and even the state, all over the state,
they've just been coming together helping. And we didn't have
a great governor like we do. You ain't lying we

(13:17):
got the mess governor in the United States.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
You ain't lying the Santas after all this, if he
don't run for president and win next time there's an issue.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Yeah, he is definitely. You know, if it wasn't for him,
there's been a lot of people without m and they
said they said that, you know, they weren't gonna help us,
but him come up with some kind of way to
help the people. I'm sure he is.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
He is the people's governor, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Man.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yeah, him and Jimmy Petronius and all of them boys. Uh,
they all good people, you know under him, His whole
board is good.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
People say right on, well, I'll tell you what, guys,
and you can't.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
You can't thank the law enforcement enough. It ain't just
you know, I'd like to thank Taylor kind of shaf
his office and and emergency management in Tayler County. But
you know, really the boys from Granny Judge, boys from
Polk County and stuff, even Leon County, they all they've
all been keeping these thieves the way they've been putting
them in jail left and right. Yesterday I went down

(14:15):
there at the time my airboat off, and they were
locking one up in there trying to get at somebody's stuff.
The first responders has been doing a great job keeping
the looters out of there.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
It's so sad that you got to do that.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Well. These people are a lot that every day. But
you know, they get what they deserve. They give them
a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
They don't even deserve that.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
They don't. At least they get that Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Bread and butter and water is what they ought to get,
but actually what they need to get is their butt
kicked and then throwing in the cell. But we've got
a lot of stuff going on. You've been involved with
this since the beginning and all, and you know, we
can hope and pray that things will pull back together

(15:02):
here in the near future. We know it's stunk will
be overnight, but we also know that hunting and fishing
season is upon us. You know, as far as the
fishing goes. I know Paul Tyre has been doing a
little better fishing, haven't you. Yes, Yeah, he's been fishing.

(15:24):
He's been fishing and catching him as always. You know,
when you go fishing with Captain Paul, he guarantees you
a five pounds or better bass.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Well, yeah, I guarantee you will sure try to catch him.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Oh okay, that's what.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
The last time, in the last since the storm came through,
I've had I've had five half day trips on the
water and we've caught over seventy five bass. Uh I
think fourteen or fifteen has been over five or six pounds,
had four of eight pounds. So they have started in
the lakes muddy, it's but that fall feet is definitely started.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Oh it felt good this morning, didn't it.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
It sure did. I'll tell you what it's getting there
isn't about to be the first thing in the morning.
It's gonna be sweatshirt weather again my favorite time.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Not to change the subject, but y'all remember when we
was in school. I mean, they'll probably don't remember that
far back, but Ben Paul might remember when we was
in school. You know, we was in the hallways during
tornado warnings and stuff and uh, no wind, no wind
stopped us from going to school. And it was one
of the prettiest mornings I've seen in a long time,

(16:32):
nice and cool, no win and they cancel school. Yeah,
I said, we couldn't get that looky when we was
going to school because I know we're I'd have been
at I'd have been in a tree stand somewhere.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
But yeah, we didn't have tornado warnings at Lineman wore
military academy. It was, uh, you go where they tell
you to be.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
You.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
We didn't have mom and dad, we didn't have no one.
We had ourselves and uh and our house parents to say, yeah,
you get your butt in that classroom. Don't you get up?
But U exactly so? But uh so the fishing has
been good, Paul. Yeah, this sound is seventy five bass.
I mean, holy cow, that's a lot of fish.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
It's been really good.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
Well, you're catching them on.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
We've been catching them on spinner baits, top water buzz baits,
been catching them on flutes, and been catching them on
a on a rattle trap type little crank name.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Okay, any particular colors better than others?

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Well, if I have, if I told you that, I
have to kill you.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
But but oh well you've heard it live on the airfoe.
Any shed color, any shed color of work?

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Well, there you go, man, But I tell you what
you know with our up there up there on I
know Lake Talquin Joel has been fast and moving. It's
finally like seminole worldly pulling about twenty thousand now that
they think there's like five gates open on the lake.
But this went down from like one hundred thousand cfs
keep it six feet per second going out of the

(18:04):
dawn now down to about twenty to day. So it's
the water's still muddy. Spring Creek is a little bit
on the stained side. And but they've been biting that
muddy water.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Well. I wish Joel had a fishing report for us,
but I know that he ain't been fishing in at
least three weeks.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
So there's a lot of two by fours out there.
They might be biting your boating.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Right, Yeah, And you know that's something that we talked
about last week and everything about debris in the water
and everything. It's pretty bad out there, ain'tybody.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yeah, it's terrible. They're seeing stuff all the way up
there and h you know around I'll filling everything else,
boards and stuff like that, you know, just selecting everywhere.
Crab traps. There's even somehow another right after the storm,
they were picking up oyster traps. I reckon them oyster
farms over around field. Somehow they got over there.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
My friend John went fishing one day after the Idellia.
He went fishing, I think it was Idellia, and he
was he just pulled off side of ninety eight and
was wading in different areas and he found three of
them traps are not traps, but whatever they call them
pins or whatever, from the oyster farm and they were

(19:20):
full of oysters. He said there was no he said
there was there was four of them, but one of them.
Someone had gotten their hands on one and emptied it
out on the beach and ate them right there. Shells,
I mean shells piled up everything and all but the
other three. The other three were left and he there's
all those, all those things, folks, if you can look,

(19:40):
because normally there's a tag with contact information on them.
And he called the guy and the guy said, yeah,
leave him right there. I have a man come get them.
And I guess they were valued at around you know,
six hundred plus dollars, and I was like, wow, you
know that's that's that's a paycheck for somebody.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
And they were full of oysters too, these ones. And
they told them to help herself. Thanks for finding their traps.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
How about that? There you have it, man, just like that. Well,
there's gonna be a lot of things out there. When
do you think, uh, Joel bald Captain Joel Baltrie will
be back on the water putting people on the big
red fish and trout and doing your thing there, buddy.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
It won't be long, probably another week or two. I'll
be back out there fishing again.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
It's great to hear.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
My main thing is trying to say, get any paint
that we can salvage. You know, I'll be going tomorrow
to watch them. Uh, the Bootogs play the Telecunty Bulldogs
play Chieflyin. It's gonna be they both undefeated right there,
So we didn't see who's gonna lead the series, and

(20:50):
all the teams left is undefeated.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Wow, there's a baldry on the field during that game.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Yeah, yeah, tell us about.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Your son, Man to us about Tyson's big brother since
the sports station by the way.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah, he's uh, he's doing great. You know, he's got
about twenty five or thirty tackles, right or solo tackles.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
You know.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
In the season that they ain't played the five games
uh there, they were supposed to play, you know, Friday
night after the storm. Of course that got canceled, but uh,
we're gonna they got three games to play in seven days.
They playing Friday night in Chiefland, Monday night and Perry
the makeup game for uh Florida High and then they

(21:33):
turn around and play Swannee County the following Friday night
to catch up on their games. But they're they're they're
doing good. Man. We got a heck of a coach
Jesse Bradmo was doing a job with them kids. All
the coaches, i mean everyone new coaches has come together
and uh they're making them them them young and turning
the men. And I'm very proud of our coaching system

(21:56):
now that we got at uh at at Taylor County,
it's it's it's a whole different boat. And it turned
one hundred and eighty around from last year. All them
kids offenses gear our offenses. I mean they started off
kind of slow, and our defense it's not really legit,
but our offense is really clicking. Now. I'm curious to

(22:17):
see what's gonna happen to be in two weeks off.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
Well, we're gonna come we got rushed. We're gonna come
back to you.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Brother.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
We're getting ready to head into another break. I want
to hear more about young Baltry out there on the
field and tell us more about what's going on with
him and and everything, and folks won't be right back,
y'all stay tuned. Hey, folks, we're back. We got Captain

(22:48):
Joe Baltry on the air with us host of the
Big Bend out Door Show on ninety six five. This
spear and Joel's we're talking about Joel's son. What's his
first name again, Joel Ethan Ethan is uh is some
kind of I mean, he's a great football player. Let's
just say it like it is. He's over there in
Taylor County playing with the Bulldogs over there in Taylor

(23:10):
count I love that name, man, this is you know.
I love the name the Bulldogs. That to me is
this That's a proud football name right there and everything.
Even though I'm not really a Bulldog fan in Georgia,
I can be a Bulldog fan of Perry, you know so.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
I mean, I'm I'm not comment on your team.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
What are you talking about. I ain't got a team
no more.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
They got Brock Glenn playing a little bit.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
Oh yeah, I don't even know what that happened. I
got I got people, honestly, this is a true story, brother.
I got people that left town and are hanging out elsewhere,
not only because of the storm, but just because the sea.
He's so bad. They don't even want to go to
the games and all there. There's a dad gum upset

(24:06):
right now. They can't see straight, and some people just
take it way.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
To the Gators. We had a great season.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
Oh lordats, that's asking for a lot.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Man, y'all not gonna beat the Gators. I can hang
that up.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Do you know what I'm going to have to agree with?

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Joel?

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Sorry, I can't.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
See happening back to the BOOTHOLEO.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Yeah, we won't.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
We won't hate on the We won't hate on Florida
State too bad. Yeah, but uh, you know, we got
Guy Simmons, he's a junior. He's a heck of a
ball player. He's I mean, he plays both sides of
the field, but he's a good wide receiver. Kingston Williams,
he's he's been killing him on interception. He's been killing
the interceptions. Letting right, but he's a wide receiver too.

(24:54):
Then you got Ryan which is he's a senior. He's
a quarterback and boy can he ball that ball. I mean,
we got you know, Smiley Freeman, the car, DJ McCoy
running the ball and stuff. Man, we just got a
loaded up team. These kids. What I like talking about
them so much? As they played ball growing up together.
They played that travel ball. You know when we had

(25:16):
the War Eagles. You know, we ain't got the War
Eagles no more. I think we got the Taylor Elite.
But when we had the War Eagles, you know from
time they were five years old, they had coach Joey.
Joey and them coaching them all went through there and
coach O Edwards and them boys, they just you know,
they played Boston, they was knee high and now they're

(25:37):
on a high school team together. It's just like they
never lost stride.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
You know, And that's something I think. I'll tell you something.
That football team is bringing some well needed therapy to
that area.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
They are they are man, They're making people.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
They're bringing happiness and joy and celebration, and uh, that's
what that area needs right now.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
It does. You know, we had to we had to
counselor uh time tree Festival and that thing's been going
on for years before. We have our carnival and stuff
in October, the world's largest three fish fry. You know,
they have all them vendors and stuff.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
I knew I missed out on something, but.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
They had to cancel it because you know all the stuff,
you know, between people helping and trees down and that's
just gonna be too much. They had to canceler a
big mud ball. We had an iron horse over here.
It's just been a bad time for a county and
for a football team to be doing something good or
something positive out of it.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Yeah, let me ask you a question. Maybe we can't
get the coach on your show one time, you know,
that'd be or or more than one. I mean whatever
you want to do, that that'd be. That'd be pretty awesome, Uh,
to have him on the show. And not only that,
but uh, what what's uh what's the team need, what's
the school need? What what's going on over there?

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Man? They honestly, the the kids need all the you know,
support they can get, whether it's it's you know, I've
been you know, men just been buying pickle pots and stuff,
you know, from cramps, anything to do related with you know,
the weight room or or food. You know, that's another thing.

(27:22):
The community is done that they ain't been doing as
they really standing behind this football team. But they'll feed them,
you know, every before the games, after the games. Everybody's
stepping up to a lot for them too. So you know,
it's it's kind of working its way around a certain
you know, the football team is doing good. Communities behind them.
The crowds. The crowd is unreal at the games, even

(27:45):
the way games like we went to Bluntstown two hours
away and our fans was. I swear they was just
as much there, But I know they were louder, and
we had all them cow bells ringing and carrying on,
and the bus drivers that they could hear three blocks
over them Calvill ringing. So I mean, it's just they
got a lot of support in which they and they

(28:07):
don't know it, but and they don't see nothing by it.
But they're doing a lot by doing what they're doing
on and off the field, by making good grades and
and helping the community by being a teammate on that
football field. And they're they're they're just a great team.
They're working good together. You don't see no fighting and arguing.
They work together. And that's what a good football, successful

(28:29):
football team is. And you know, I keep killing everybody,
and you know, some people starting to agree and some ain't.
But I see them in the state playoffs and not
being and more likely being in the state championship.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Awesome, that's so great. And these and these are kids, now, folks,
I want to think about this now, these are the
same kids, teenagers, young young men, young young people. I
should say, because their body's involved that Uh you know,
but these are the same kids that went to all
these these storms. They're homes, they're lively. Everything was affected

(29:05):
no differently than anybody else. But yet they're getting it done.
They're keeping their grades up, and they're out there kicking
butt on the football field, and you man, that's his
hats off to them. So loute. Uh, that's that's excellent,
that's his great news. How's that stadium of theirs over
there is.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
That actually held up the new press boxing that idea
you tore it up, right, But the new press box
is doing great. Uh, you know, we got pictures of
that right after the storms. Well held up. But you know,
they have problems with the wave bleinchers over there. They
were trying to put new blinchers up over there, and
what they had started it got tore down. So I
think they got to start back there on the wave blinchers.

(29:45):
But other than that, our field looks in pretty good shape.
They got two games going on.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
To night there, sir, awesome. Well, we're we're super proud
of our friendship and and and everything with you and
everybody uh over there that's been through it, that's going
through it that's turned around and put their own personal
lives aside to help others. Uh that Uh that that

(30:11):
gets a big old salute uh to y'all because that's
you know, people talk about FEMA and talk about the
government and everything. You know, I'd rather have my neighbors
helping me than the government any day, because my neighbors
don't need My neighbors don't need a permission slip to
do anything. You know, they don't need a contract. They

(30:32):
can they drop. And I got the best neighbors in
the world. But everybody's neighbors, everybody from the mountains all
the way down to the beaches are helping each other.
And I brought this up to my step son yesterday.
I was talking to him on the phone. He's a
lieutenant in the Air Force, and we were talking and

(30:53):
I told him, I said, let me tell you something.
I said, when things, when people go astray, I said,
God has a way of bringing everybody together. And it's
if you think about it. You know, all this hate
and everything that's been generated in our country over the
past four years, now, these same people that were not
happy with other people's political decisions or whatever it might be,

(31:15):
who they're voting for everything else and they're helping each other.
They're helping each other. They've laid their differences aside, and
they're helping people. And everybody's helping people, and no one
asks who you're voting for. You know, one says you
can be proud of who you're voting for, like we
all are and everything, But no one's asking that person. Hey,

(31:37):
you know, if you're not voting for a certain political figure,
well then I'm glad have to go down the street
and help the person it is. It ain't like that.
People are stopping and helping everybody. And we've gotten storm
after storm after storm. We've got war overseas, we've got
all these things that are bringing people together, Americans, Americans

(31:58):
helping Americans, and that's where it should be and everything.
And I told Drew, I told him, I said, let
me tell you something. If you don't think God ain't
got nothing to do with it, you lost your mind. Isaiah.
He's bringing it reels us back in when we get
too far apart. It's kind of like a flock of sheep.
When the sheep gets astray, the shepherd goes and brings
them all back together again.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
That's absolutely right. I agreed. Well, I'm just I'm just
had to get off here. But I do want to
get like I said, say again, I like to think
all the you know, the law enforcement first responders and
from each county. You know what cal of Leon, Melusa folk,
all them guys right there for stepping in and helping

(32:42):
us with a keeping the people away and helping anybody
that needs help, and everybody that's donated. Yeah, I appreciate
everyone of y'all. And uh, you know, we end this
thing together and if anybody needs help, they know how
to get a hold of them somehow or another. But
I got to get off this thing. And uh, George.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
Kenny a little bit, Well we're gon We're gonna try Kenny,
but uh I know Kenny was busy changing out his
axles on his boat trailer and everything. But uh, just
know we'll be their Sunday friend. And I can't wait
to shake your hand.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Yes, sir, Paul, get your butt down there now, we'll
see you Sunday.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Paul's right, Paul's riding with me, and don't put yeah, man,
we'll see you. Well, I'll tell you what it's that
in the nutshell. I mean, there you go, man, once again,
we got another show in the books that we're talking
about people helping people. Uh, we're talking about what's going

(33:44):
on today right now. And uh. We also had time
to throw in a little conversation about catching seventy five bass. Yeah,
so I was thankful for that story. So we got
a little bit of time left. But we're gonna be
rolling in and we'll have to take another break. I
guess huh, yes, sir, so normally. Now what's that mean again?

Speaker 2 (34:05):
That means we got thirty seconds?

Speaker 4 (34:06):
Thirty seconds? So what we're going say in thirty seconds?

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Man, I'll tell you what I want to thank everybody
listened to it.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
A big bend outdoor showing outdoors.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
You ain't lying, brother, the spear in ninety six point
five to spear.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
Yeah, there you go, man, it's all good stuff. Folks
shall stay tuned with us. We're gonna keep doing this
a little bit longer and we'll catch you here on
the flip flop. Talk to you in a minute.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
We got Captain Kenny Mullen calling in with the epic charters. Man,
it's good to hear your voice. Brother. How are you
doing down there?

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Doing good?

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Doing good, just trying to get cleaned up and trying
to get caught up on boat maintenance and stuff, trying
to get ready for when might be able to get
back to work, which have no clue when.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
That is yet. What can we do? I mean, what
can be done to to to get you guys back
to work and everything? I mean, who needs to step
up to that plate? And really, is there a charter
captain association or anything like that.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
There's not.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
Yeah, get with me on that one. Let's let's talk
about that, because uh, there ought to be something out
there that has some kind of emergency funding to help
market you guys when you fall on times like this,
no doubt.

Speaker 5 (35:29):
But right now the biggest problem is all the debris
and the canals and and honestly it's it's been contracted
and they were supposed to put local captains to work
to help help provide for this, and you know all
that's just been delayed. Everyone's getting the run around and.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
Yeah, yeah, and who's in charge of that.

Speaker 5 (35:47):
It's a lady out of Louisiana. I've been on the
phone with her several times. And then you know, last
update was what we were supposed to started last Monday,
and then they said, oh, we're holding off until Milton passes. Well,
Milton's passed. We don't know, we don't know what's going on. Yeah,
right now, that would be our saving grace right now

(36:08):
to get us to give us a little income during
the cleanup, and it'll get our waterways cleaned up where
we can get back out on the water.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
Right yep, yep, yep, yep yep. And I guess those
waterways are well, it's to go without saying they're pretty
gnarly right now. Oh yeah, what else is going on?
So you're changing out the axles on your change out
axles or hubs axles axles? Wow? Okay?

Speaker 5 (36:31):
Yeah, So I can't get hubs, I mean not hubs.
I can get hubs, I can't get spindles. No one
has the spindles I need. And I went to the
trailer manufacturer where I got the trailer from, and they
can't even get spindles.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
Really. Yeah, so you gotta go with brand new axles
with hubs.

Speaker 5 (36:49):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Wow, that's not cheap. My go to places down there
down there, and we'll call it down there on ninety
eight for trailer parts and stuff like that. I think
it's called like coastal Trailer. The boys down there, they're good,
good men. They do a great job and normally have
things when you need it. But can you tell me,
tell me what's going on in your area down there?

(37:11):
I will let you know that Captain Paul Tyre, myself,
my friend Bobby Williams will be joining the fine folks
from Smoking but Not Nuts Barbecue. I love the name. Huh,
Smoking Butts not Nuts Barbecue down there at the boat
ramp on Sunday, we're gonna be serving up lunch to anybody. Yeah,

(37:33):
so feel free to come by and get some food
for you and your family. We'd love to see you
our plan. Of course, we're not, you know, we're everybody
does a little bit here and there. It helps along
the way. I mean there's people down there at churches.
I see post where they're serving a thousand people, two
thousand people. You know, we're not gonna be able to
serve that many, but we'd love to. But we're gonna

(37:57):
serve as many as we can. And you know, we're
going to be there or the caterer is going to
be there serving up nice full plates of food. Barbecue
and this same barbecue company smoking Bus not not It's
barbecue just took the People's Choice award at the Barbecue

(38:17):
Bugs event in Perry, Florida. Oh yeah, they know what
they're doing. Man. Mikey and Danielle are becoming really good
friends of mine, and we did a trade with them
to take care of some of our clients are radio clients.
And I talked with my vice president here at iHeartMedia,
Darryl Johnson, and I said, hey, we can do something

(38:40):
else with this and do another trade to do whatever
you know for the clients and all. He said, let's
do it. He didn't even hesitate. So uh, that's one
thing I love about working where I work at when
it comes to getting things out on the air, helping people.
Trading out after Michael was so impressive. I can't tell you.
I mean truckloads of generators and MRIs and everything else

(39:03):
that we took into what I call the war zone
from Tallahassee. And my people here at iHeartMedia, Paul Rogers,
our market president, was right behind it. I mean he
was actually on the phone talking with people in the
affected areas saying here, take him this, and take him
that and everything. So when people say that iHeart media

(39:24):
is not local, y'all both think again? Were local. We
right here, We live here, and when the times get tough,
we out there volunteering and helping as much as we can,
like everybody. So with you, sir, what can we do
for you? What can we do for you and your
family and the fine folks in your area.

Speaker 5 (39:45):
Yeah, honestly, right now, the prayers are greatly appreciated.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
You go.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
You know, we're all we're all working together to try
to get back to some normalcy. Yes, you know, Joel
and I both have been volunt tearing our resources and time.
And in fact, tomorrow I had posted a video on
my Facebook of some of the debris when when Joel
and I went out on the airboat and I had

(40:13):
just this morning, I had a woman contact me and
she said, hey, one of the things in the video
was my dad's and it was I don't even know
what it was kind of I guess a bathroom is
what it was. I had to sink in it anyways,
her dad. Yeah, and it was made out of cypress
that her dad went into the woods and cut down himself,

(40:35):
built this by hand, had stained glass in it, and
you know, she said, do you know what it is?
I said, yes, I know right where it is. She said, well,
what's it going to take to get it back? So
I immediately called Joel and put together a plan and
tomorrow we're going to try to get three or four
guys together and get out there and get it for him.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Did they say what they're going.

Speaker 5 (40:56):
To do with it or well, they want to try
to rebuild. They want to try to rebuild it and
uh and put it back at their lot.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
I got you.

Speaker 5 (41:06):
I mean there's nothing, nothing left in their lot, but
they're you know, they're just wanting that sentimental value to
try to rebuild around it.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
Yeah. And I've never lost everything in my life like
these people have, so I guess you know, when it
all comes down to it, when you have lost it all,
any little piece of anything and everything you know that
you can find and and all means everything to you
and all. So it's uh, that's that's precious, it really is.

(41:35):
When do you think you might be back on the water?

Speaker 2 (41:37):
Brother?

Speaker 5 (41:38):
Honestly, I have no clue. In fact, if this, if
this waterway clean up work doesn't come through, I'm going
to travel to get on the water even if I
have to go to Saint Mark's. You know, I may
try the ecosine. I don't even know if I can
get out of there yet. I know from the from
the Fenn hall Away all the way to cedar Key,
there's no way of getting out right now.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
Well, I'll take Kenny. If you come over to Saint
Mark's and you just get with me, brother, I'll help
you out. Man. I got some spots. I mean, I
know that plays like the back of my hand.

Speaker 5 (42:15):
We know. A while back we had the guest Captain
Leif Lunquist, was on the air with us.

Speaker 4 (42:22):
Yeah, I know, I know Leif real well.

Speaker 5 (42:24):
Yeah, Leif reached out to me this morning and he said, hey,
can you run trips yet? I said no, And he's
in Texas hunting. He said, Well, when I get back,
he said, he said, I'm going to send some trips
to your way. Just come run with me, he said,
just come over to my area.

Speaker 4 (42:39):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (42:39):
So the whole community, you know, is pitching in, trying
to help one another out.

Speaker 4 (42:43):
That's what it's all about. We just got talking about that,
you know, I told I was telling Joel. I said,
you know, God bless everybody that's trying to help. Yeah,
but in the big picture of the things, I rely
on my neighbors in my neighborhood and people my friends
first before I would ever rely on the government, you know.

(43:05):
I mean, I can't. I can't find it in my
heart to rely on an organization that's run up thirty
five trillion dollars in debt, you know. And not only that,
but if you need a permit or a permission slip
to help another human being, there's a problem. So and
all these other things that are going on. We won't
even get into it, because this really is not a

(43:27):
political show. It's a hunting and fishing show. But because
of the hurricanes, we're talking about that trying to draw
attention to places and folks that are in need. And
I know Bobby, my friend Bobby, that's coming with a
Sunday down there to help hand out plates. He's getting

(43:47):
together a bunch of clothes, And that's what I'm seeing.
I'm seeing a lot of people helping people, and that
has been a long time coming.

Speaker 5 (43:56):
Well, honestly, it's we're not I don't see the recent
sources that we did during Idellia, and this storm was
a lot worse yeah, it was. If it wasn't for
friends coming and pitching in cutting away into my house,
we still wouldn't be here because we haven't seen any
cruise out here doing anything. There you go, and it's
just mind boggling to me. But but I will say

(44:19):
this the other day whenever, right before Milton, the day
before Milton hit, I saw hundreds and hundreds of trucks
and equipment heading south, passing right by us that are
still still in a war zone that hasn't been touched yep,
you know. And I know they have needs down there
as well, But when the crews that were here packed
up and went down there and just left us, you know,

(44:41):
it's it's not it's not good.

Speaker 4 (44:43):
No, it's not. But you know, hopefully we'll see you
Sunday and we'll get to spend some time together and
we can talk more about what we can do to
promote the guides that make their living on the coast,
and I'm sure we'll be talking more about that, and
who knows what will come out of that. I got
a feeling I got something in mind and everything, and

(45:06):
I think I'll be able to implement it here very
shortly to help promote you guys and get y'all's names
out there and hopefully get some trips going and help
support man. That's what it's all about. We've got to
help each other. I'm in great shape, Paul's in great shape.
It's our friends that are needs our help right now,

(45:28):
and we want to be there for you guys. So
we'll be there Sunday serving up some food. In the meantime,
you stay safe and stay in prayer and we'll see
you Sunday. How about that?

Speaker 5 (45:42):
Yeah, thank you. I appreciate, not a.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
Problem, Kenny. Well listen as always, it's good to talk
to you. And for anybody that wants to go fishing
with Kenny, maybe for a Christmas gift, Kenny, give you
information out for me please Hi.

Speaker 5 (45:54):
You can look me up on social media or my
website Keatingbeachfishing Dot and my phone number is eight five
zero eight three eight six one zero one.

Speaker 4 (46:04):
Folks, that's a great fisherman right there. Buy trip, support
your local captains and get out there, go fishing and
have a great time. Uh and uh we got captain
Paul tire. Paul. Tell them what it's all about.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Man, I tell you what man, I tell you anybody
wanting to get out there and do have a special
fishing trip out there on the flats with Captain Kenny,
I'd give him a call.

Speaker 4 (46:26):
So we got Captain Joel Baltree of the I'll Still
Outlaw Charters. Okay, we got Captain Tanner there with Swift
Creek Outfitters. But uh, we're gonna wrap it up real quick,
and folks, we'll talk to you next week. Y'all, stay tuned,
tune in next week and we'll talk more about what's
going on today.
