The number one Tuck show in theOhio Valley. This is the bloom Daddy
Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His goal in form, entertain,
and tick people off. The bloomDaddy Experience on news radio eleven seventy.
WWVA starts now the bloom Daddy Experience. It's seven oh six on news radio
(00:24):
eleven seventy Mitge Trabinsky moving on forPittsburgh. As a matter of fact,
the two sides has basically said, let's part ways before free agency. Spend
two seasons with Pittsburgh. I believefour with the Bears before that, I
think one little one with the Bills, former number two overall pick. So
there's a couple of things here withTravinsky. He went to North Carolina.
He had correct me if I'm wrong. One great year, small sample size.
(00:49):
You know that thirty three touchdown yearat North Carolina that propelled him into
the first round. Sometimes you liketo see maybe two seasons, three seasons
at the collegiate level to see ifthey can duplicate. He's athletic as hell,
he's got great size. He throwsthirty three touchdowns his I believe junior
year in college. Then he goesto the Bears, makes the Pro Bowl
(01:10):
in twenty eighteen, has a goodseason, had a couple good seasons for
the Bears. If you're gonna befair about it, he had a couple
of years where I think he hada quarterback rating in the nineties to mid
nineties. Again, Pro Bowl twentyeighteen erratic probably the best way to describe
Mitch Trabinsky. He'd have a coupleof good games and then you know,
just it just seemed like he couldn'tput together steady, long performances that were,
(01:37):
you know, high caliber performances. The other angle to Mitch Trabinsky is
where you go. Chicago not anideal place over the years for young quarterbacks.
I mean, they've gone through theirshare. Then I think he went
to Buffalo, then to Pittsburgh, where I mean, ever since Roeths quarterbacks
(02:00):
have somewhat struggled. I really believethat when people land in the right spot
and they've got the right coaches aroundhim, you have something special. I
always go back to Archie Manning.Archie Manning, if he gets drafted by
the Steelers, is probably in theHall of Fame right now. And if
Terry Bradshaw goes to the New OrleansSaints. Terry's not, but that's not
(02:21):
how it worked out. That alsobrings up the topic of confidence. Confidence
is a key to life. Idon't care if you're a teacher, a
policeman, a garbage truck driver, and I don't care what you do in
life. If you've got confidence inyourself, you're gonna do it great,
no matter how big of a jobyou have, how manial of a job
(02:44):
you have. If you have confidence, then you're gonna be the best at
what you do. And as soonas you lose that confidence, then all
of a sudden, you start doubtingyourself. And especially in pro sports,
when that confidence wanes, that's itand it's hard to get back. Some
guys can do it, some guyscan't. Seven oh nine on the bloom
(03:04):
Daddy Experience with Sam and Otis onnews Radio eleven seventy WWVA. I think
the Trubisky thing is a great exampleof timing. Timing is everything that I
mean. Look at Belichick and Brady. They both had to be there at
the right time to make that dynastyhappen. Same thing with Pippin and Jordan.
(03:30):
I think a lot of sports comesdown to that, and you can't
put everything into just one season, and Trapisky is a great example of that
that one season does not make younumber one, number two draft pick.
Well, I also think that youmight be the best college quarterback that ever
(03:52):
played the game, and you justcan't. You can't succeed at the next
level. Right, It's different theI mean if you look at I mean,
obviously this is going to stand outto me because I'm I'm a West
Virginia fan, But you look atat the success that Pat White had at
West Virginia. You know, he'sthe only he's still the only college quarterback
to win all four bowl games thathe went to. He I mean,
(04:15):
he put up great numbers, hadgreat people around him, great coaching.
Gets to the NFL and he can'the can't compete because it's not his style
of game. And I mean Ithink if if if Pat White came out
now, would it be a littledifferent. It might be because I think
they catered a little bit more toa running quarterback than they do it.
You know, he was more ofan RPO quarterback where he had that run
(04:38):
pass option. But I mean whenyou look at somebody like at Trubisky who
comes in as a rookie. Youcome in and you have a great year.
Maybe it's some you have some peoplearound you, a little bit of
talent that helps you. But there'salso no real true scouting report on you.
Once once you get figured out inthe NFL, you're done and you
(05:00):
have to adapt. Either you haveto adapt or you just you go by
the wayside. Well, and there'sa I mean, another great example is
I hate to bring up this name, Johnny Manziel. I mean, he
he burst onto the scene at Texasand the Browns and the Browns owner fell
for the razzle, dazzle excitement ofhim. And that tends to happen a
(05:25):
lot also where and just because you'rea Heisman Trophy winner doesn't mean that you're
that's going to carry over into theinto the next level, right exactly.
And then and then the subject ofconfidence, I mean that, And it's
funny he mentioned blim Daddy mentioned thatbecause I was actually talking to some friends
the other day and I said, you know, once you hit a certain
(05:47):
age and otis, maybe you cantell me if this has happened for you.
Also, what is that an oldcrack? No, no, no,
no, no, no, noit is not. But here's your
old crack right here. But onceyou this is happened to me. Once
you hit a certain age or acertain point in your professional career, you
kind of you get the confidence ofsaying I am who I am. You
(06:11):
either like me or you don't likeme, and I don't care either way.
I don't even think that has tobe in a career. I just
think it happens in Life's what Imean. Yeah, friendship. I mean,
you know, I'm to the pointnow. You know, as a
young kid, you care about whateverybody thinks about you. Yep, you
know. And then you start toyou know, you realize that it's no
longer about what people think about you, it's what you think about you.
(06:33):
And and and maybe it's not somuch confidence, But also I think there,
I think there's two things to comein with confidence, and that's experience
and in comfort when you start toif you get into a job and you
feel comfortable doing it, then youknow that that that confidence is going to
(06:59):
come with that confidence comes with withwith comfort, yes, and self doubt
tends to diminish. Yeah, Imean I can tell you when I started
my other job. You know, when I first started and I had no
idea what I was doing, Imean I had it. You know,
there's common sense stuff. Yeah, okay, but when you when it gets
down to the nitty gritty, Imean I remember the first time doing you
(07:20):
know, when you go do somethingfor the first time, I mean,
I had the butterflies. I meanit was it was like it was like
being eight years old in your firstlittle league at back, right. I
mean, you're terrified, right, and and and you know, but as
you as you get into that situationand you do it a few more times,
and then and then not only doyou become more comfortable, but now
(07:43):
you you become a little more perceptive. You become a little more aware,
you know, of of your surroundings. Because that's part of what that my
other job is is it's it's payingattention, it's knowing, it's looking,
it's seeing, it's taking in factsand and that's pretty much any job really.
But but I mean some times it'sall in the moment. You know,
did I see this? Do yousee this? Do you see that?
(08:03):
Do you you know? Did youhear this? But you know,
all your sensors are moving and andand that's just I mean just like that's
just like being a quarterback or anytype of athlete. You know, what
do you see your your vision becomesyou know, you know what to focus
on. You're looking for this, you're looking for that, And it's that's
in any job. And you knowhow to shut out the voices, the
(08:24):
extra voices surrounding you, the doubters, the skeptic. But here's the other
thing. There's there's no such thing. You know, A perfect example is
on you. And I first startedthis job back in January. You know,
you you were you were comfortable duringthe BS hour, I was,
I was bloom Daddy's producer and producerfor the next show after that, you
(08:48):
know, fill in hosts here andthere, and you know again comfort number
one. We we we went intothis show not knowing one hundred percent of
what we were going to do.But you know, for the first two
weeks, we were getting constructive criticism, right and if if you know,
and it was coming from all anglesand it was not necessary that we Some
(09:11):
was good, some was bad.Someone was telling us what we need to
do, what we need to focuson. And there's no such thing as
bad constructive criticism and as long asyou're as you're able to take that criticism
and say, Okay, guess whatthis is what I need to work on.
And if you if you accomplish whatyou're working on and you become better
(09:33):
at it, you're you're just goingto make your job. Number one,
it's going to make it easier. And number two, it's going to make
you a better person and a betterat your job, and it builds your
confidence absolutely. Well. You know, there's somebody getting a lot of criticism
right now, and that is ourcurrent president. And we're going to have
more about that because now West VirginiaAttorney General Patrick Morrissey has gotten involved.
(09:54):
So that in a few more thingsabout five minutes here on the Bloomdaddy Experience
with us in Sam on News Radioeleven seventy WWVA. On the Blue Daddy
(10:28):
Experience with Notice and Sam on NewsRadio eleven seventy WWVA. Don't forget.
Later this morning, we're gonna begiving away a truckload of wood from the
Velkas out at morning Wood. That'sgoing to be in our last segment.
But you still have chances to qualify, and we're going to take two qualifiers
at the end of this segment, don't call now, don't call now.
We'll let you know when. Butwe are taking qualifiers for the rest of
(10:50):
the day to day and we willbe giving away that truckload of firewood in
the last segment. You got it. So before the break, I kind
of brought this up a little bit. So I want to get into this.
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrissey isurging the Vice President Kamala harris to
invoke her powers under section four ofthe twenty fifth Amendment and declare that President
(11:13):
Joe Biden is unable to discharge thepowers and duties of his office. And
Morrissey said in a letter, weneed a president who is mentally fit.
Now, this of course comes onthe heels of the controversial her report that
came out at the end of lastweek. This report came out late Thursday.
(11:37):
It kind of in a way gotswallowed up over the weekend by the
Super Bowl and all of the crazinessand excitement behind that. If you have
not been following this story, theSpecial Counsel Robert Hurr released this report,
and what this was was investigating thehandling of the classified documents that was found
in President Biden's personal home. Now, the report concluded that no criminal charges
(12:03):
are warranted against Biden, but thereare highlights to this report, and the
highlights basically are his cognitive abilities andthat things are significant, significantly limited,
and he has issues recalling special eventsin his life. And then also he
(12:24):
struggles with One of the things thatwas really highlighted and President did not like
this was that he could not rememberthe date of his son Bo's death.
And of course he references his sonmany times, He's done it tons of
times in public. President did respond, did not respond favorably, and this
(12:50):
has become a very controversial talking pointto the point where, like I mentioned,
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrissey isnow calling for vice president to step
in, which that's scary on itsown because Kamala harris is not, yeah,
not much better. So this thissubject, here's where I think this
(13:13):
is very interesting. The report inthe investigation was of course about the the
mishandling of these classified documents by PresidentBiden. What Robert Hurr did I think
knowing that there was not going tobe a way of prosecuting a sitting president,
(13:35):
So I think the fact that hewas willing and had the gumption or
the the courage to put in thisreport. The cognitive struggles that our current
president is having took a lot, took a lot of of of nerve to
(13:56):
do it. And I think hesort of like flew the script on him,
thinking that if this, if wecan't do it this way, we're
going to highlight this and bring intofocus. There are issues because it's it's
been talked about, it's been hintenabout. Everybody is seeing it, everybody
(14:16):
is seeing the struggle. I mean, during the interview or during the response
from the White House, as thePresident was responding to these claims of his
mental shortcomings, he said, andI quote, I'm on, I'm of
the view, as you know thatthe conduct of the response in Gaza,
in the Gaza Strip has been overthe top. I think that, as
(14:37):
you know, initially the President ofMexico al CSI, did not want to
open up the gate to allow humanitarianmaterial to get in. I talked to
him, So how did we gofrom the Gaza Strip to the President of
Mexico Right there, as he fiveminutes prior, was defending his mental acuity
(14:58):
and and his memory and this andthat and going off because Robert Hrr mentioned
in there that he couldn't remember hisson's death date. Then he goes and
makes a statement like this where hedoesn't even know who he's talking about,
or what country he's talking about,or the fact that you know, throw
on two different continents, the twocountries that he's referencing. So I find
(15:20):
it comical in a way that ashe's trying to defend this, he then
makes another blunder. And it's justbecoming more and more evident that there is
a very big issue sitting in theWhite House right now. Well, I
mean he's recently referred to Helmet Coleand President French, President Miterran, and
(15:46):
both of them have been dead foryears, right, you know. And
it's just I think that there issome mental deficiencies in the president. And
you know, I mean her report, you can take it or leave it.
I mean, it's it was moreof an investigation on how he handled
(16:07):
his documents and bringing up his cognitiveabilities. And what Republicans now want is
they want the transcript of the interviewbecause they want to see what Biden's responses
were. And you know, Imean I think that that's but I mean,
be careful what you wish for becausethe next the next person in line
is not necessarily your answer, right, And that's why I was surprised when
(16:30):
I saw the statement by the WestVirginia Attorney General. But willing to put
that out there. But the otherthing is, if that's the case,
and you remove President Biden, thenyou only have Kamala Harris for you know,
basically a year or less, youknow, eleven months if she were
to if she were to take officetomorrow, you would have her for about
eleven months. And with that beingsaid, you know, I mean,
(16:52):
could you you would see what wouldhappen because there's no way the American public
is going to elect her as presidentfor the next term. So now hey,
we're gonna take callers number four andsix for morning Wood. You can
win a truckload of morning wood. We're gonna be giving that away a little
bit later this morning again, callersfour and six, one, eight hundred
(17:14):
six two four eleven seventy It's seventwenty eight. On the Blue Daddy Experience
with Otis and Sam on News Radioeleven seventy. WWVA Super Bowl commercials talked
(17:41):
extensively about them after the Super Bowl. But I saw ranking, and I'm
not talking about this year's Super Bowlcommercials. I saw ranking the top twenty
super Bowl commercials of all time, and I thought, I gotta look at
this, So I just kind ofgrabbed the top five for you. Number
five, you remember this one,Where's the Beef Wendy's. That was Super
(18:06):
Bowl eighteen. Clara Peller was thename of the old lady in that commercial.
I remember it like it was yesterday, but they say, where's the
Beef by Wendy's. The fifth greatestsuper Bowl commercial of all time. Number
four. This is another one you'regoing to remember. McDonald's Michael Jordan versus
Larry Bird. This was Super Bowltwenty seven. Remember when they went up
(18:29):
against each other in a game ona one on one battling the court on
the court for the Big Mac,and neither one wanted to give up.
I mean, they really capitalized offthe buzz that Jordan and BRD helped create
from the nineteen ninety two Dream Team, and they knocked it out of the
park with this one. So thatone is number four. Number three the
iconic Apple commercial back in nineteen eightyfour, done by Ridley Scott that aired
(18:53):
during Super Bowl eighteen, along withthe Where's the Beef commercial? And to
this day, even whether it's SuperBowl commercials or the greatest commercials of all
time, you will see this onepop up a number of times. That's
Apple from nineteen ninety four, numbertwo Betty White Snickers Snickers launch there You're
(19:14):
not you when You're Hungry campaign.God, I realize that fully right now.
And I can't remember what super Bowlit was, but you had Betty
White just hammering people, laying punishinghits on people, talking trash and a
pickup football game. Pretty memorable commercial, to say the least. Number one
as far as the greatest Super Bowlcommercial of all time. What's Up?
(19:38):
What's Up? What's up? Budweiser, all the buddies calling each other.
This was during Super Bowl thirty four. Guys being guys, dudes being dudes,
calling each other up during the game, just simply saying what's up.
This was even referenced, if mymemory serves me correctly, by Steve Carell's
(19:59):
character Michael Scott in the pilot episodeof the Office. But you're talking about
five iconic commercials right there. Thecommercial at Sticks in my mind the most,
probably more than any other commercial ever. And I'm almost embarrassed to say
this, and it's Where's the Beefwith Clara Peller by Wendy's. I have
no idea why, but that's thecommercial that sticks with me seven thirty nine
(20:22):
on the Blue Daddy Experience with Otisand Sam on News Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
The Ridley Scott commercial that only airedthat was the only time it ever
aired during the Super Bowl nineteen eightyfour. It was the nineteen It was
for Apple computers and it only airedonce. I don't remember it. Oh
you remember, you've seen it becausethey've replayed it so many times on like
(20:42):
the best Super Bowl ads ever, and it's always it's always it always ends
up like at number one or numbertwo. Okay, but it's it's like
everybody's a drone, and it's justit's like it's kind of like George Orwell's
nineteen eighty four and the girl comesin in the tracksuit with the hammer and
she throws the hammer into this greenyou've see, you've seen, and I'd
have to refresh myself anyway, ButI mean that one's the one that stands
(21:03):
out in my mind. I meanit's just because and not because of when
it aired, but because of it'sbeen in like every countdown of Super Bowl
commercials. Ever, it's gotten moreairtime after the super Bowl than it ever
did during the soup. Like Isaid, it only aired once. It
was a one time commercial, theone every time I think of the Budweiser
(21:23):
Frogs. Yeah, that one.I don't know if it's because of the
age I was when it came out, but it sparred like an entire clothing
line. There were T shirts andeverything, and it was That's the one
that pops into my mind. ButI mean, it's funny that you say
that, because there's actually when Iwas in San Antonio years ago, we
were going through the mall and myson at the age he was young,
(21:47):
my youngest son was like in thefirst or second grade, and he wanted
college stickers. So I found likea little sporting good store and we gotting
like Texas, TCU, Texas Aand M Texas, every North Texas,
West, Texas South. Everybody hada sticker in this store. And so
we picked up a handful of stickersfor him or some some sort of memorabilia
(22:10):
but on the clear Interact the Universityof Texas San Antonio UTSA, they had
a T shirt and had a littlescreen on the left chest and then on
the back they're nicknamed the Roadrunners andit was the Frogs and it was like
road Run Earth. Oh okay,So my favorite shirt. I still have
it to this day. That shirt'slike almost twenty years old and I and
(22:32):
I still have it to this daybecause it's just a it's that shirt that's
comfortable. It's got a paint stainon it, it's got but I wear
it all the time because I loveit so much. Today is Valentine's Day.
Did you know that I did, because I'm wearing my heart sweater.
Yeah, I see that. I'mon theme. Well, it is upon
us and it is the romantic holidaywith a very odd history of violence and
(22:55):
paganism. And it's that theme ofthis new line of Valenti greeting cards.
This Valentine's Day, give your lovea historically accurate greeting with hallmarks historical Valentines.
Violets er blue roses are reddish.Did you know the real Saint Valentine
(23:15):
was actually beheaded? Oh? Ididn't know that, did you also know
the first Valentine Message was written bythe Duke of Orleans while he was imprisoned.
With hallmarks Historical Valentines, you canplay Cupid, who is actually Afrodites
love child? Why it's not justgreeting cards? You got me a goat?
(23:38):
Yeah, let's sacrifice it, likeduring the Roman fertility festival of looper
Kalia. Oh well, roses wouldhave been fine. How about hallmarks Saint
Valentine's replica skull adorned with flowers, just like in the Basilica of Santa Maria.
Yeah, or chocolates Hallmarks Historical Valentine'sCollection and coming soon, Hallmarks Historic
(24:04):
Saint Patrick's Day Collection. Kiss me, I'm irish, But Saint Patrick actually
wasn't google it, So there youhave it, historically accurate Valentine's I'm surprised
there wasn't one about the Saint Valentine'sDay master, I say, I was
waiting for the massacre. Yeah, well you know they're probably working on that
card. Hey, I will shootyou forty two times or something big plans
(24:27):
for the holiday. No, no, it's just another day. The romance
that just is oozing from you.I mean, it's just I mean,
look, I mean, why wouldI overindulge on a day when everything,
all the prices have skyrocketed. Iwill, I will say this most women,
And I hope, I hope I'msaying this right. That nobody's offended
(24:52):
most women to get just a randomsomething on a random day, like a
random flower or you know, oryou pulled in and you picked wildflowers in
the spring on just a Tuesday, just to make you feel better. That
I think is more special to somebodythan I'm obligated, because it's you know,
(25:14):
marketing tells me this is the daythat I have to show you how
much I love you. You know, I think, well, you know
our good buddy Vic. Oh,yes, Vic, though maybe I should
text Vic. But he romantic,Yeah, mister romantic. What he's done,
what he probably did yesterday was getin his freezer and thaw out all
the chocolates that he bought last yearon February fifteenth and sixteen to give the
(25:40):
Miss June. So you know,it's one of those deals where you know,
we could, we could, wecould go into this a little more,
but you know, hey, guesswhat, if you want to be
cheap, that's fine, buy yourchocolates tomorrow when they're on sale. But
we have the perfect gift we didValentine's Day. Oh we do. Well.
If you win, if you wantmorning wood, yeah, if you
(26:02):
win it. If you want morningwood, because you know who does,
that's perfect on Valentine's Day. Weare registering now during the commercial breaks.
So what do you say, we'regonna do two of them. Let's do
to us two of them. Yeah, because we get another giveaway next break.
All right, so let's do callerfour, which we did last time.
Oh we did. Yeah, that'sfine. Four and eight, four
(26:22):
and eight four in Colling. Callersfour and eight will be registered to win
morning Wood, a load of atruckload of wood from the Volcas out in
Flushing, and we'll be giving away. We'll be giving that away later this
morning. Yes, last segment.Yep, big winter today, So qualify
callers four, Caller eight, sevenforty five on the Blue Daddy Experience with
Otis and Sam on News Radio elevenseventy w w v A seven fifty On
(27:10):
the Blue Daddy Experience with Others andSam on News Radio eleven seventy WWBA.
It was a busy day yesterday forlocal fire departments. So out of Caddis,
a house fire happened Tuesday evening.Fire Chief Leonardo Leonardo I'm sorry,
Leonardo Merriman says the fire broke outat a single family home on Charleston Street
around seven thirty. Several departments didrespond. Those living in the home did
(27:33):
escape without any injury, but thehome is considered a total loss. The
cause still remains under investigation. AlsoFriday, in on Sandhill Road in Nefs,
a fire happened at Trade Construction. No one was injured there either.
Yeah. Well, the one thingabout construction to fire, I mean a
(27:53):
fire to construction places, you knowthey're going to rebuild. I mean,
I'm just I mean, I meanI saw it on the news this morning
and the owner was like, hey, you know we're going to be back
at it. We're going to beand wish them the best, I mean,
because that's the worst thing that canhappen to a business. Yes,
absolutely, I could see it frommy house. Actually yeah, I mean
I didn't mean it in a jokingway, but I mean, I mean,
(28:14):
but at least it's a construction companyand you know they're going to put
there. They'll be right back atit. Don't don't think that they're going
to be out of business for long. If they're out of business at all,
right, you know, I meanit just may not have an office,
that's all. The mission may notbe able to get a hold of
them right away. Let's put itthat way. There's the US Attorney's office
is twenty eight year old Chelsea Banksof Wheeling is going to serve ten years
and one month in federal prison forconspiracy to possess cocaine, base and fentanyl
(28:40):
with intent to distribute. Prosecutors sayBanks was working with a second suspect to
sell drugs in the Wheeling area, and a search of banks Is home and
two storage sites in PA turned upmore than a kilogram of the drugs,
along with stolen firearms and more thantwo hundred bucks I'm sorry, two hundred
thousand dollars in cash. So,you know, ten years month, that's
(29:00):
that's just a ten years in amonth. It's just a weird sentence to
me. Why the little extra month. Yeah, and she'll probably be out
in like two. Well, Federalis a little harder to get out,
that's true. Yeah, Federals it'sa little harder to deal now if she
rolls on somebody, she might getout early. But yeah, okay,
so Wheeling heads up. Here wego again. Imagine this. There is
(29:23):
more another project underway. This ishappening near the Center Wheeling area on twenty
second Street. Now, this projecthas to do with the sewer and this
sewer separation project. I'm I don'tknow what sewer separation means. Does that
sound familiar to you. It's it'slike the natural runoff from like grain and
(29:47):
so, and it's it's going intoa different system as opposed to like your
actual sewer water, like your bathwater, your sink water, your shower
and all that stuff. Perfect,Okay, So this is scheduled to go
until at least April of this year. But this is one of several projects
that will take place over the nextseveral years as part of the city's water
(30:08):
pollution control plan. So the orangebarrels, which now need to be on
the city seal at this point, are going to be with us for a
while. Yeah. And if you'reif you're down that way, it's the
one way street. If you're comingfrom Maine to Center Market. It is
the one way street between Maine andMarket. Okay, and it's it's it
(30:30):
would be at the north end ofCenter Market. So it's just it's it's
it's a very short street and it'sbasically used for parking and to get the
Center Market. But you just goup on one block earlier. That's all
go up twenty first Street, soand you'll be you'll be fine. I
mean, or you can go uptwenty twenty third Street and you can come
in the south side of Center Marketand do the loop. You're still able
(30:52):
to do the the Center Market loop. A couple of a couple of bills
introduced in the state Senate in WestVirginia, state lawmakers are signaling signaling that
they may make driving at or belowthe speed limit in the high speed lane,
which is your left lane, againstthe law. And it should be
as as a person that speeds throughthe left lane and hates people that ride
(31:15):
in the left lane at the speedlimit or lower. Thank god, if
this bill passes a twenty five dollarsfile, we'll be levied against those camped
out in the left lane. Severalother states have driving laws on the books
that restrict travel in the left laneto those who are passing making a left
turn, avoiding traffic on the right, or moving over to make room for
emergency vehicles. Nothing irritates me more. And this happened last week. I
(31:40):
was there was a few adult wordsbeing used as I was stuck behind.
It was and it's always a buick. I'll give you my sign, your
sign I make. I make asign that's it's printed in reverse that you
put on your dashboard to the personin front of you that's in the left
lane, and it says left laneis for passing, so that when they
(32:01):
see it in their rearview mirror, they're able to read it. I don't
think some people care. Well, they'll get over, or they'll give you
the finger, or they'll do whateverI mean, because it's happened. And
then on the other side, sowhen you pass them on the right,
it's printed correctly, so you putit in your driver's side window as you
drive by them, and it saysleft lane is for passing. Oh,
it's so irritating. I'll give youa discount. I'll give you a friends
(32:23):
and family discount. Okay, butyeah, I mean. And I've come
to the conclusion that if your statehas a big ten school, you are
you are more apt to see thosepeople drive in the left lane carry you
know, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Iowa, Illinois,
(32:44):
Indiana. They're the ones Michigan. They're the ones that are They're the ones
that ride the left lane like. There's no tomattention to this. Oh I
could write a book. Have aquick update on the Piedmont story about the
dog breeder. So yesterday in court, the woman charged k Conway said that
she would like to get her dogsback so that she can sell them.
(33:07):
Okay, this is disgusting. Yeah, so but the sorry, yeah,
the prosecutor said, it is notour intent, nor was it ever,
to return the dogs to miss Conway. She is not going to physically get
them back, but if there arepeople interested in purchasing them, we may
facilitate a sale. I have aproblem with this because if you facilitate a
(33:27):
sale, where's that money gonna go. It should not go to her,
It should not go to her defensecounsel. It should go to Belmont County,
hoof and Paw and the vets andthe people that have donated their time
in their money to take care ofthese shitsues. So just this will be
this goes back to Courton Mark.Another thing in West Virginia smoking in cars
(33:50):
with children that's banned in eleven states, and lawmakers are pushing to join them.
In West Virginia, were more adultchose cigarettes than any anywhere else in
the nation the Senate. The stateSenate on Monday passed the bill calling for
fines for anyone caught smoking or possessinga lit tobacco product in a vehicle when
someone aged sixteen or under his presentThe bill passed on a twenty five to
(34:12):
eight vote. Who are the eightidiots that voted against this? And now
it goes to the House of Delegates. Well, and I guess in the
House, similar legislation has failed andit faces an uncertain future. So really,
yep, but if you're on ifyou have kids, you shouldn't be
smoking in your car now. Sohey, we're doing tough Man. We
are doing tough Man. We're gonnagive away two tickets to Friday Night tough
(34:32):
Man. If your caller number twelve. Okay, how's that one? Eight
hundred sixty two, four eleven seventyYep. More bloom Daddy coming up in
about eight minutes. The bloom Daddyexperience with notice and Sam on news radio
eleven seventy. WWVA caller twelve one, eight hundred sixty two four eleven seventy
scores a pair of tough Man ticketsfor Friday Night. Indeed number one touch
(35:02):
show in the Ohio Valley. Thisis the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host,
bloom Daddy. His goal in form, entertain and tick people off.
The bloom Daddy experience on news radioeleven seventy. WWVA starts now news Radio
(35:22):
eleven seventy. It's the bloom DaddyExperience. Hey, it's eighth six.
Let's get this hour rolling. MitchTribitsky moving on from Pittsburgh. As a
matter of fact, the two sideshas basically said, let's part ways before
free agency. Spend two seasons withPittsburgh. I believe four with the Bears
before that, I think one littleone with the Bills former number two overall
pick. So there's a couple ofthings here with Trabinski, he went to
(35:44):
North Carolina. He had correct meif I'm wrong. One great year,
small sample size, you know thatthirty three touchdown year at North Carolina that
propelled him into the first round.Sometimes you like to see maybe two seasons
seasons at the collegiate level to seeif they can duplicate. He's athletic as
hell, He's got great size.He throws thirty three touchdowns his I believe,
(36:07):
junior year in college. Then hegoes to the Bears, makes the
Pro Bowl in twenty eighteen, hasa good season, had a couple good
seasons for the Bears. If you'regonna be fair about it, he had
a couple of years where I thinkhe had a quarterback rating in the nineties
to mid nineties. Again, ProBowl twenty eighteen erratic probably the best way
to describe Mitch Trabinsky. He'd havea couple of good games and then you
(36:30):
know, just it just seemed likehe couldn't put together steady, long performances
that were, you know, highcaliber performances. The other angle to Mitch
Trabinsky is where you go. Chicagonot an ideal place over the years for
(36:52):
young quarterbacks. I mean, they'vegone through their share. Then I think
he went to Buffalo, then toPittsburgh, where I mean, ever since
Roethlisberger, quarterbacks have somewhat struggled.I really believe that when people land in
the right spot and they've got theright coaches around him. You have something
(37:12):
special. I always go back toArchie Manning. Archie Manning, if he
gets drafted by the Steelers, isprobably in the Hall of Fame right now.
And if Terry Bradshaw goes to theNew Orleans Saints, Terry's not.
But that's not how it worked out. That also brings up the topic of
confidence. Confidence is a key tolife. I don't care if you're a
teacher, a policeman, a garbagetruck driver, and I don't care what
(37:37):
you do in life. If you'vegot confidence in yourself, you're gonna do
it great, no matter how bigof a job you have, how manial
of a job you have. Ifyou have confidence, then you're gonna be
the best at what you do.And as soon as you lose that confidence,
then all of a sudden, youstart doubting yourself. And especially in
pro sports, when that confidence wanes, that's it and it's hard to get
(38:00):
back. Some guys can do it, some guys can't. Eight o nine
on the bloom Daddy Experience with Samand Otis on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA
were you looking at me? Well? I thought you were going to go,
oh no. You know one thingI didn't think about this earlier.
I think one of the big questionsis for the Steelers, what are they
(38:22):
gonna do for that position? Imean, I understand he wasn't playing,
he wasn't starting for him anymore, but well, I think he was brought
in as a band aid. Yeah, he was. And I can't think
of their quarterback right, Mason,Rudolph, Kenny Pickett, Picket. Picket's
not the answer. Rudolph's not theanswer. I heard. I read some
(38:45):
stuff yesterday. Rumors are that Tomlinis interested in justin fields from Chicago.
Okay, I read that in acouple places. Interesting thought process. I
don't know if that'll come to fruition, but there's there's speculation out there.
Well, I mean, you alwayshave the draft, but do you I
mean you just you basically have asecond year going to have a third year
(39:07):
player in Kenny Pickett, you know, I mean he's he's been riddled with
some injuries. I mean, hashe really had a chance to prove himself?
I don't know. But when itcomes to Trubisky, you know,
I mean, here you have aguy that had one great college season,
and you know, the Bears tooka chance on him. He had a
good rookie season because you know, the scouting report on him was not necessarily
(39:30):
there. I mean, maybe hehad all the tools in place that first
year in Chicago to be the betterquarterback. But then once once you get
scouted in the NFL, normally whathappens is if you can't adapt and adjust,
then you're not going to be thenext level quarterback that everybody thinks you're
going to be. And there's nothingwrong with being a backup quarterback in the
(39:51):
NFL. There's been many of peoplethat made a career out of it,
you know, and sometimes you getthrust into the spotlight. Sometimes you don't,
and you know, but you canstill make millions of dollars holding the
clipboard. I mean, I meanit's a bad gig, it's not a
bad gig. You know, youwalk out with a retirement and everything else,
and you're not beat up for it, you know. So, I
(40:12):
mean there's been plenty of guys thathave made careers out of being an NFL
backup and they've gone on to biggerand better things. I Mean, you
know three names that stand out tome are all over luck from West Virginia
that was a backup quarterback in theOilers organization. You have Jeff Hosteler,
who actually has a Super Bowl winbecause Phil Simms got hurt, but was
(40:34):
basically a career backup quarterback. Alexvan Pelt out of Pitt was a career
backup. But now he's like he'syou know, he's an offensive coordinator in
the league. I mean, welllook at him. Oh shoot, what's
his name right now? Ended upstarting for Seattle this year. He was
he was Gino Smith. Yeah, you know, backup court, you know,
but I mean there's they're out there, you know. And I mean
(40:54):
and once, I mean Tom Bradywas a backup, yeah, at one
point in time. And then youknow, then he Wally Pipped. He
was he Wally pipped Drew bledsoe WallyPip. No, he was. He
was the starting first baseman for theNew York Yankees. And and he goes,
hey, he says, you know, I'm not feeling good and you
(41:16):
know, maybe I need to takethe day off. Well, then they
put Luke Garry again, and louGarry didn't come out for another two thousand
and some odd games. Okay,So you know Wally Pip is the guy
that was the last guy you knowwho said hey, you know, I
have a headache and never saw thefield again. Man, So at least
not for the Yankees as a firstbasement. Yeah. So, but anyway,
(41:37):
I mean, I mean, it'sjust, you know, you talk
about confidence and everything else. Ithink confidence is in anything you do,
doesn't have to be your job.And you know we kind of touched on
it earlier that you know, experienceand comfort and you know, repetition breeds
that confidence just in confidence in whoyou are. For you know, when
you're younger, you're you're judged foreverything. You're judge for the way you
(42:00):
look. You're judged for the wayyou talk. You judge for the type
of job you have, the typeof house you live in, the type
of car you drive. And again, once you get to a certain age,
it's like, eh, I don'tcare anymore what people think. Judge
me all you want, Take meas I am, take it or leave
it. I'm out, you know, and that that and that is confidence
(42:22):
that you know again, once youget to a certain point in life,
you have that that that self confidenceto say I am who I am.
You either like me or you don'tlike me. Yeah, so plain and
simple. So it is Valentine's Day, it is. Do you have a
favorite Valentine's Day candy? Because there'sa list out there. There's there's five
(42:45):
of them, okay, and you'reprobably gonna be top five. You're probably
gonna say, ew I love thoselittle hearts, the tiny conversation hearts,
that they be mine and they likemelt in your mouth. But it has
to be the it has to bethe old school brand. There some like
newer knockoffs. They're not the same. So Sweethearts has conversation Hearts Nope,
okay, but they come in atnumber five. This is according to experts.
(43:07):
Number four are Hershey's Hugs and Kissesnumber three or Cupid Mix M and
ms. They're just eminems that arered and white and pink. I mean,
they don't do anything except change thedye color. Reese's Peanut Butter Hearts,
which are basically just heart shaped priestcups. Yep, that's it.
And then the number one Candy BroxTiny Conversation Heart that's the come in that
(43:31):
little box and ye used to usedto get them by the case and then
you'd give them out for Halloween andHalloween, I mean Valentine's Day at school.
It's just say, you break allthe kid's teeth if you wait on
Halloween. Oh they're hard anyway,I mean the hell. They've probably been
in storage for six months or longer, maybe six years. They're like twinkies.
Oh yeah, they last forever. So hey fifteen on the Bloom Daddy
(43:53):
Experience with Otis and Sam on NewsRadio eleven seventy WWBA. We're gonna take
two qualifiers. Remember in the lastsegment today around eight to fifty, we're
gonna be given away a load ofwood Morning Wood from our friends the Velkas
out in Flushing, Ohio. We'regonna take two qualifiers this break. We're
gonna take callers number five and sevenbecause I'm feeling a little odd and those
(44:14):
are odd numbers. I'll believe itat that sixty four eleven seventy qualify.
Now it's twenty one on the BlueDaddy Experience with Sam and Otis on news
(44:47):
radio eleven seventy WWBA. And you'vegot a special announcement. I do I
do so coming up this just brokethis morning. We have a new show
coming to the Capitol and this isall thanks to our sister station ninety eight
point seven wvk SO coming on Aprilthirtieth, is going to be Ian Munsick
(45:07):
country music star, And just alittle bit of background on him. This
past summer he was the opening actfor Morgan Wallen and then this summer he's
going to be the opening act forLaney Wilson. And this is really exciting
to got two other special guests,Zach Topp and Hunter Flynn. Tickets are
on sale now, so go toCapitoltheater dot com for more information and to
(45:30):
get your tickets. And it's goingto be a really interesting show because what
I'm being told, it's going tobe kind of acoustic like. So we
talked about this the other day.I talked about it last Monday. There
is plenty to do in Wheeling. There is tons of musical acts and again
we're today's Valentine's Day. That yes, with that being said, if you
(45:52):
have not made any plans yet, hint hint, ladies and gentlemen out there,
have something you can do this weekendto celebrate Valentine's Day a little bit
late. Let's go to the phonesI've got conductor John Devlin of the Wheeling
Symphony on the phone. Good morning, John. Hello, I'm so happy
to be here. Thanks for havingme, absolutely so kind of teased.
If you don't have plans for Valentine'sDay yet, the Wheeling Symphony can take
(46:15):
care of you. So tell mewhat is happening this weekend. Well,
we are so excited because over thelast few years we've made a big push
to incorporate the best of Broadway intothe season each year for the Wheeling Symphony,
and this year has been no exception. To open the season, we
had Sutton Foster, probably the greateststar in the Broadway landscape. And then
(46:36):
coming up on Friday, as you'vementioned, we have a huge Broadway star
visiting us again. This is ReneeElise Goldsberry, who people will know as
the star Angelica Schuyler of the musicalHamilton that has been such a phenomenon over
the last decade. Yes, andalso she starred in Rent for those who
know the Rent musical also, that'sright, she started in Rent. And
(46:57):
she was also for a time inThe Lion King. And we are going
to trace not only her Broadway careerand the music that we select to perform
for everyone on Friday Night at theCapitol, but also the influences on her
musical career from her time as ayoung child. It's a very interesting arc
to the show, where we're goingto hear gospel, We're going to hear
Americana, We're going to hear peoplesolo artists like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon,
(47:22):
all the way up until, ofcourse we're going to hear some Hamilton
and rend Well in the Wheeling Symphony. I don't want to say flies under
the radar, that's not the rightterm, but it seems within the last
five to ten years has made acomeback, a big push to attract different
audiences than what you would think ofas your typical symphony of audience. So
(47:45):
like recently about what was about amonth ago, had the Harry Potter film
last year, had the Jurassic Parkfilm set to this symphony? Why?
What is the what is the goalwith all of this introducing the symphony to
new audiences. That's a very thoughtfulquestion, and that is I would say
(48:05):
half of the gold is that wewant new people to be attracted to the
symphony, But the real reason isthe authenticity of my love for those things.
Eight years old, I grew upcamping outside Barnes and Noble waiting to
get the next Harry Potter book atmidnight every time that they came out.
I remember seeing Jurassic Park on thebig screen and having my life transformed at
(48:30):
seeing a movie represent dinosaur or somethingI dreamed about in such an amazing way.
And then Broadway. I grew upin New York and this was part
of my DNA as a child, going into the city with my parents and
seeing these amazing artists. So notonly do I love Brahms and Mozart,
but I love these things the sameamount and I know other people do too.
(48:51):
So I look forward to a showlike this just as much as I
look forward to anything else in ourseason. And I think that like authenticity
of my love for these things andthe stories I'm able to tell around it
resonate with people who have those sametypes of stories and everything that I'm hearing
from people that have gotten the opportunityto go to these newer events that the
symphonies, it's just it's fabulous feedbackI heard. The Harry Potter night was
(49:15):
just phenomenal. Yeah, thank youfor saying that. You know, we
don't want to just be a nightout, We want to be a full
experience, and we are able toshare those types of stories that relate to
Wheeling in a really profound way.For example, the woman that did the
art direction for the Harry Potter moviesis from Wheeling. Her mother is on
(49:39):
our board. We really able tobring someone like that, Yes, she
was able to be here for that. Her name is Molly Hughes, and
we went out to the schools,we gave a pre concert event at the
Capitol Theater, and we're able toshare with people behind the scenes footage about
how the movies were made, havea question and answer with somebody who is
that impactful on the art itself. And she's from Wheeling, West Virginia.
(50:02):
So there's a lot of things thatwe want to do to create this special
feeling around these events. The factthat that concert, the Harry Potter concert
was sold out was a tremendous thingfor us, and we can't wait to
announce our next season in twenty twentyfour to twenty five later this spring,
where people are going to see thefact that we're going to continue serving them
with things that we know they love. Wonderful. So this Friday we have
(50:24):
Tony Award winning actress Renee Elise Goldsberry. What do we have? Are there
tickets still available? Yes, ticketsare still available. And I love the
way that you tease it for everybody. If you woke up this morning and
said, oh no, it's Valentine'sDay and I've got to run to CBS
and get my card and find away to get a gift on short notice,
(50:44):
this is the perfect thing to do. Say we're going to go for
a nice date night on Friday seethe symphony, and it's going to be
a show that's going to fit perfectlywith that feeling of a big night out
in Wheeling, West Virginia. Wellperfect, Thank you so much for your
time this morning. Have a wonderfulshow this Friday. Again, tickets are
still availed. So if you fellshort on Valentine's Day, this can make
up for it, of course. And when you're ready to do the spring
(51:06):
announcement, want to hear about it. Okay, all right, we'll be
back then, Thanks, all right, having well, thank you John.
Uh that was John Deviln, conductorof the Wheeling Symphony. So there you
go. Otis, if you don'thave plans for Valentine's Day today and you
fall short, go to symphony.I have no problem with that. I've
been to the symphony before. Ilove the symphony. Well, I mean
it's we talk a lot about alot of the underutilized things that we have
(51:28):
here in the valley. I thinkthe symphony is kind of one of them.
Like I said, it kind offlies under the radar with some people.
Yep. So A twenty eight onthe bloom Daddy experience with Otis and
Sam on news radio eleven seventy WWVA. You know what time it is?
Time for tough Man tough Man wehave Saturday Saturday Night. We have two
tough Man tickets. Caller number thethirteen collor no, make it fourteen fourteen
(51:54):
for Valee Times. There we go, caller number fourteen for Valentine's Day.
Win's a partake against the Saturday Night'stough Man one eight hundred and sixty two
four eleven seventy Blue Daddy's talking superBowl ads, not this super Bowl,
but Super Bowl All Time coming up. In about six minutes, super Bowl
(52:16):
commercials talked extensively about him after theSuper Bowl. But I saw a ranking,
and I'm not talking about this year'sSuper Bowl commercials. I saw a
ranking the top twenty super Bowl commercialsof all time, and I thought,
I gotta look at this, SoI just kind of grabbed the top five
for you. Number five, youremember this one, Where's the Beef Wendy's.
(52:42):
That was Super Bowl eighteen. ClaraPeller was the name of the old
lady in that commercial. I rememberit like it was yesterday, but they
say, where's the Beef by Wendy's. The fifth greatest super Bowl commercial of
all time. Number four. Thisis another one you're gonna remember McDonald's Michael
Jordan versus Larry Bird. This wasSuper Bowl twenty seven. Remember when they
(53:06):
went up against each other in agame on a one on one battling the
court on the court for the BigMac, and neither one wanted to give
up. I mean, they reallycapitalized off the buzz that Jordan and BRD
helped create from the nineteen ninety twoDream Team, and they knocked it out
of the park with this one.So that one is number four. Number
three the iconic Apple commercial back innineteen eighty four, done by Ridley Scott
(53:30):
that aired during Super Bowl eighteen, along with the Where's the Beef commercial?
And to this day, even whetherit's Super Bowl commercials or the greatest commercials
of all time, you will seethis one pop up a number of times.
That's Apple from nineteen ninety four, number two Betty White Snickers. Snickers
(53:50):
launched there You're not you when You'reHungry campaign. God, I realize that
fully right now. And I can'tremember what super Bowl it was, but
you had Betty White just hammering people, laying punishing hits on people, talking
trash and a pickup football game.Pretty memorable commercial, to say the least.
Number one as far as the greatestSuper Bowl commercial of all time.
(54:15):
What's Up? What's Up? What'sup? Budweiser. All the buddies calling
each other. This was during SuperBowl thirty four. Guys being guys,
dudes being dudes, calling each otherup during the game, just simply saying
what's up. This was even reference, if my memory serves me correctly,
(54:35):
by Steve Carell's character Michael Scott inthe pilot episode of the Office. But
you're talking about five iconic commercials rightthere. The commercial that sticks in my
mind the most, probably more thanany other commercial ever. And I'm almost
embarrassed to say this, and it'sWhere's the Beef with Clara Peller by Wendy's.
I have no idea why, butthat's the commercial that sticks with me.
(55:00):
A thirty nine on the Blue DaddyExperience with Otis and Sam on news
Radio eleven seventy WWVA. There wascommercials were funny at first, then they
got annoying. Well not only didthe commercials get annoying, but everybody and
their mother. Whenever you would seesomebody out it was. But now you
(55:24):
do that and people look at youlike, what the hell is wrong with
you? Like? I did itthat my son one time, who's twenty
gonna be twenty three years old?I went to him, I was,
and he just kind of looked atme like, dude, what is the
matter with t F You know?It just it? I said, you
(55:45):
wouldn't get it. I said, you're too young. I was like,
if you say Spuds Mackenzie to somebodyand they go, huh, do you
even know what sponge would get?Okay? So you how about Alex?
You know remember Alex the dog fromHe was a stros commercial dog about the
same time as Spud's McKenzie. Butobviously stros didn't have the money. That's
(56:07):
Bush did, right, So butyeah, I mean you can go to
antique stores and there are, yes, you will fund mackenzie dogs for sale
everywhere, and they're like a collector'sthing. So what was that breded dog?
Some sort of bulldog? Wasn't itsome sort of some kind of terrier?
Yeah, like it's kind of likethe Little Rascals dog, Yes,
from the movies, And if youremember like Little the Little Rascals. I
(56:30):
think the dog's name was pet ifI'm not mistaken, But he had that
black circle around his eye and kindof I don't want to say it's a
jack or it's a different kind ofterrier. I can't remember what kind.
So that was good. Maybe wecould have looked that up during the break
if we'd have thought about that beforehand. And I don't you have a computer
in front of you? I don't. I do, and it's it's I
(56:51):
do, but I don't have onewhere I can search anything. Well,
we've talked about it's Valentine's Day,right, it is, okay, so
part of Valentine's Days for a manart of romance is kissing. Okay,
mm hmmm. Have you ever hada bad kiss? Oh? Yeah,
there's nothing worse. Yeah, there, there's nothing worse. Well, the
(57:12):
origins of kissing has been it's beena big study, and Southeast Asia has
laid claim to being the first areato have liplocking, but according to Danish
history historians, evidence of the firstmouth to mouth smooch can be found on
a clay tablet unearthed in the MiddleEast, upending the original academic theory about
(57:36):
where the first kiss happened. Okay, so I don't know. Do you
remember your first kiss? Yes?I do, very vividly. Okay,
yes, and oh you want youwell? I mean like like where was
the beach okay with somebody you knewor no, it was one of those
summer vacation His name was Danny. His name was Danny. It was under
(58:00):
the moonlight on the beach. Okay, I'm thinking mine was in my front
yard. I mean, I meanlike like I mean the I guess the
first true like liplock, you know, I mean there was probably like a
kiss on the cheek hair there, you know, maybe just a quick peck,
nothing memorable, you know what Imean? So mine. My first
(58:20):
kiss was in my front yard.We had a maple tree in the front
yard, and the neighbor down thestreet was the same age as me,
and we were kind of like wewere sitting on the lower limb of the
lower limb of the maple tree, and I laid one honor and I don't
think she complained. Well, it'sit's a little bit more pressure for the
(58:42):
guy in a way, because theguy, you know, traditionally makes the
first move initializes. Yeah, Ijust remember my first kiss. I was
I was a late bloomer, ifyou will. I was always the guy's
buddy. I was never looked atthat kind of them. Ye yeah,
because I was the girl that wouldtalk football with them and Star Wars and
(59:02):
you know, the guy stuff. So when I finally had my first kiss,
like I said, I was fifteenor sixteen, I think, And
like I said, the guy's namewas Danny and took me for a walk
on the beach and under the moonlight, and it was just perfect until I
got back to the hotel room.My parents are waiting on me, and
of course how old were you again, I was like fifteen years Like I
(59:23):
said, I was a late Bloomerand I think I was twelve eleven or
twelve. Yeah, and my parentsare waiting on me, and my mom's
ready to celebrate, basically because sheknows I'm a girl and not a tomboy
forever. And my dad is makingfun of me, singing, oh,
Danny boy. So I was embarrassedin the whole fun. So when you
(59:44):
said Danny on the beach, thefirst thing that came to mind was Greece.
Oh. I never put that together. And you could have been Olivia
Newton John with John Travolda. No, I wish Sandy and Danny. Yeah,
no, no, But it wasa good kiss. But I've had
bad kisses. Oh man, Yeah, I mean there. I mean,
well, is there is there reallysuch thing as a bad kiss? Or
(01:00:07):
are some just better than others? No, there's bad kisses. Okay,
this guy one time, it wasso bad. It was so sloppy and
and and yeah it was bad.I can't believe we just went down this
grade. Yeah it was bad kindof. That's why, like one or
two dates and done that. Thatwas always a deal breaker from me.
If it bad kiss, are outto no no more? Okay, I'll
(01:00:29):
take your word for it eight fortyfour on the bloem Daddy Experience. We're
gonna qualify our last two people formorning wood. If you want morning wood
from the volkas out and flushing notmorning wood. Were you for your fire,
for your fireplace, for your firepit, for whatever you got going
(01:00:49):
on, it's wood to burn theburn. Yep. We're gonna take collars
coming up to yeah, barbecue season. We're gonna take callers four and six
at the end of this break oneeight hundred and six two four eleven seventy
that's callers four and six. Youwill be our last two qualifiers. And
then in the next segment we're gonnadraw the winner, pick the big winner.
Yep. More to come on Thebloom Daddy Experience with Otis and Sam
(01:01:10):
on News Radio eleven seventy WWVA eightfifty On The bloom Daddy Experience with Sam
(01:01:38):
and Otis on news Radio eleven seventyWWVA. Last year, Jeff Bezos became
the latest billionaire to move to Florida. And why did he do that?
Way? He left behind Washington Statebecause they just imposed new taxes on any
large stock sales. So I mean, why wouldn't you Well, he's cashing
in already because this month, Bezohe sold about two billion dollars worth of
(01:02:01):
company stock. He plans to sellbillions more through the first month of twenty
twenty five, so he's looking togo basically for about a year. According
to CNBC, Bezos's move it's gonnasave him more than six hundred million bucks,
and that's just going to continue togrow with the more stock he sells.
I mean, why wouldn't you moveto Florida. Yeah, I mean
(01:02:22):
it's if you can say, ifyou're going to save six hundred million dollars,
I'm moving to Florida two And Ithought I was doing good clipping coupons.
Well, here's the other thing.Amazon is also now they're the target
of a class action suit by PrimeVideo subscribers. I don't know if you
knew that or not. They're upsetbecause now they're forced to watch ads or
(01:02:44):
pay to not right. Right. So the Amazon founder, well he's got
this message all about it. Iam Jeff Baze there, and it's a
good thing. I'll be saving sixhundred million in Texas by moving to Florida
because no Prime Video subscribers are suingme. Over ads as you're not the
(01:03:05):
big deal. I was just thinkingabout that this morning while eating a bowl
of Kellogg's Raisin brand Crunch with twoscoops of delicious seat commercials aren't so bad.
No need to call a lawyer, call Carco instead and save fifteen percent.
See you hardly noticed that, right, I mean, face it.
Advertising is a part of the fabricof American life. Haven't you seen mad
(01:03:30):
men? No? Oh well it'sstreaming right now on Prime Video and dutity
your Prime membership for just fourteen ninetynine per month or one hundred and thirty
nine for the year. Call Nowthose are great there, I've missed those,
to be honest. Yeah, it'shard to judge because I mean,
we're able to do what we dobecause of advertising. Sure, I mean
(01:03:52):
we're able to give away what we'reabout to give away because of averaging because
of advertising. So I mean,as a viewer, when I saw that
come up for Prime, I wasnot happy. Yeah. I mean,
they they set themselves up this wayto when they initially when all this started
not offering advertising, so you know, you made people accustomed to it.
(01:04:14):
But yeah, that's it, Andtoday is Valentine's Day, any big plans
for tonight? No? Okay,no, do you think I saw I
heard an article this morning where cocoathat you used to make chocolate, Oh
yeah, has gone up like twentyfive percent and costs. So look for
your look for all your candy togo up price wise. Thing has gone
(01:04:34):
up. It's going to continue togo up. Yeah. Yeah, it's
going to go up even more andprobably the portions will get a little smaller.
Oh yeah, you know. Sothere's there's some healthier options out there
for Valentine's Day other than candy.I don't know if you knew that.
Yeah, but okay, go ahead. So there's fresh fruit, Okay,
it's gonna it sounds boring, Okay, but you dip it in chocolate,
(01:04:55):
chocolate fountain fruits that are fresh ordried, or a clear choice if you're
looking for some something naturally sweet whilealso beneficial to your health. I mean,
there's nothing wrong with it. Youever like dried bananas and dehydrated stuff
like that, I don't like it. You don't know, how about a
cheese board, a CHARCOI board,Yeah kind of. It may not be
the sweet option, but a cheeseboardcan still be a romantic treat. Benefits
(01:05:19):
vary, of course, depending onwhat type you consume, and cheese offers
several nutritional benefits. Also, howabout chocolate covered fruit or nuts? So
it's not the whole chocolate, yousee what I'm saying. You get nuts,
right, Okay, So it's ait's an age old Valentine's Day tradition
of giving chocolate, and when theAztecs were around, it was believed that
(01:05:43):
the chocolate covered fruit and nuts werean aphrodisia. So that's why everybody get
that's chocolate covered strawberries. Mmm?Is that why it is? Okay,
yeah, that's where that originally.I like that. There's always a little
hitting meaning behind a lot of gatYeah, you know it could be.
Yeah, do you what did wesay yesterday? Yesterday was National Condom Day.
(01:06:05):
Well we kind of went out withthat. Yeah, so yesterday you
should have stalked up for today.Yeah, so oh we did have a
listener real quick, you're talking aboutspuds mackenzie. Yeah, what type of
dog? He was a Staffordshire terrier. Okay, there's the technical Staffordshire terrier.
(01:06:27):
Staffordshire terrier. Okay, all right, Well that's a mouthful. Yep.
Well, I mean and I thinkthat's that's a that's an American Kennel
Club breed. Oh yeah, yeah, so I mean that's that's a that's
a pure bread dog, purebread dogs. Like I think somebody did bring us
a Valentine's Day gift. There's adoughnuts out there. Those do not fall
under the fresh fruit or cheeseboard categoryfor a healthier Valentine's option, but there's
(01:06:51):
there's donuts out there for somebody broughtus. So, in other words,
somebody was probably one of our oneof our co workers was probably in an
event and butt day old brought usday old doughnuts. Probably probably our general
manager. We've got the leftover. He's not a big spender. Stop well,
he does like the Christmas party,he does, he likes that,
(01:07:12):
but when it comes to anything else, forget it. Oh you know he
did what every year he's bought us, like a jacket, We're never going
to be cold, never and Inever wear them. I hate bulk.
I hate bulky. I can't getin a cart and drive with a bulky
jacket on. And like two ofthe jackets that we've gotten have been extremely
(01:07:32):
bulf I was like, what isthat noise in our qualifiers? So before
we picked the winner, Yep,we want to give a shout, Yes,
I want to. We want tothank Steve and Jimmy at morning Wood
for doing this giveaway. This wasall Steve's idea. He called me up
and said, hey, I wantto do this for Valentine's Day? Can
you figure something out? Like yeah, I mean perfect. I mean you
(01:07:58):
don't think firewood and go big, exciting prize, but that when you really
think about it, sure, especiallya truckload of firewood. It's not cheap
exactly. I mean it's it's notit's not going to break the bank as
far as anything else. But Imean, if you can get a free
load of firewood, and what betterway to celebrate Valentine's Day with maybe a
glass of wine or a champagne,a little bit straw covered strawberries in front
(01:08:20):
of the fireplace, crackling fire, little soft music, little you know,
maybe little Johnny mathis or I justreally went old there, didn't I you're
missing a bear skin rug or whatcould be? You know, it all
depends. Maybe you don't have bearskin. We're painting. We're painting a
picture here. Yeah, we're trying, all right. Okay, So we've
had plenty of qualifiers over the lastthree days. How many we got in
(01:08:42):
there? Do you think? Well, I think we've done twelve a day,
so we should have about thirty sixof them. Okay. The winner
of the truckload of firewood is SteveMealy from Wheeling. Nice. So,
Steve, you are a winner. Will give you if you're not listening,
we'll give you a call and letyou know, and we will forward all
your information over to the Volkas andthey will be delivering you a nice truckload
(01:09:08):
of firewood. Yep. I'm goingto visit Steve tomorrow, so okay,
well we'll probably need to call himwith this so they can set everything up
for the delivery yep. And gofrom there. And and it's a good
day. So I want to wisheverybody a happy Valentine's Day because it is
Valentine's Day and you don't have anyspecific plans with mister Valentine. No,
(01:09:28):
No, he's working. I'm working, okay. No sloppy kisses though,
No sloppy ones okay. And wewere talking about kisses earlier. All right,
Well, I have a tradition thatI've been doing for a long time,
so I'll probably try to keep thatup today. I'm not going to
tell you what it is to Taytomorrow. I might not want to know.
It's not bad, Okay, Hey, we'll see tomorrow. It's the
