Speaker 1 (00:00):
Indeed number one Tuck show in the Ohio Alley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His
goal inform, entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news Radio eleven seventy. WWVA starts now.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
The bloom Daddy Experience. It's seven oh six on news
Radio eleven seventy. Before the season started, all the so
called experts said the American League Central was going to
be baseball's weakest division. Well, I see three out of
four teams left in the American League playoff series from
the American League Central and one barely missed out, that

(00:41):
being the Minnesota Twins.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Let's bring on Joe.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Noga right now, beat reporter for the Guardians Cleveland dot
com and a playing dealer. Joe, I just said three
or four teams from the AL Central. Everybody said the
AL Central was gonna stink, and here we are. And
how about payrolls. I mean you take a look, I
mean Guardian's twenty eighth and payroll. You've got the Tie
twenty fourth, You've got the Royals twenty first.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah, it's it's a testament to what the front offices
and in these in this division are able to do
and and really they're getting the most out of the
rosters at this point in the season, and that's that's
really what it's all about.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
You mentioned the three teams from this division that are
still alive. You're talking about bullpens right now and as
being the major factor in why they're they're able to
do what they do. If aj Hinch didn't have the
the young arms and the productive arms that he has
in his bullpen right now to be able to flip

(01:42):
flop around his rotation and go with openers and go
with bolk relievers and and different kind of starters throughout
these last two months, Detroit's not where they are now.
So it's just a testament to you know, what they've
been able to do in terms of their payroll, in
terms of their roster, and then when it gets down

(02:02):
to game level, aj Hinch being a real wizard with
calling the right shots. Yeah, I think there's others rotation.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, I think there's other similarities to John. I mean,
all three of those teams have a couple of stars,
but they've got a number of role players that are
gritty and scrappy who just do whatever it takes to
get a win.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Yeah, it's You're going to look across the diamond starting
on Saturday, and it's going to be two teams that
approach the game very similarly in terms of you need
to get twenty seven outs to beat this Detroit Tiger's team.
They will keep coming and it's not going to be
an easy task. This is not the same club that

(02:43):
the Guardians faced for the last time back on July thirtieth,
the day of the trade deadline. They had just dealt
away their their second best pitcher, and you thought, oh, well,
they're playing for twenty twenty five. Aj Hinch has got
these guys turned around and headed in the right direction,
and they're young, and they're hungry, and they're rolling right now.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I saw where a couple of people said, don't be
shocked if Scooble pitches game one. Do you think he
will or you think they'll save him for game two
on Monday.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
My gut tells me they'll save him for game two.
But you just you can't know. With this team and
the way that they move their starting pitching around and
any it's really scoobable. And then all hands on deck
after that. So if they choose to go with him
on short rest, I could see it. But you know,

(03:32):
he's also has you know, he's he's had Timmy John
surgery in the past. He's a guy who's come back
from injuries. You don't want to maybe push him in
that situation. So it's something to keep an eye on.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Talking to Joe Nova, Guardian's beat reporter for Cleveland dot
Com and the Playing Dealer, Look, we've got a better lineup.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I think all the way through.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Our bullpen is better, even though their bullpen is very,
very good, and I think their game playing against us,
Joe is the same as everybody else. They've got to
make their hay again star starters because if they get
into our bullpen trailing, they're in trouble. So they're going
to do everything they can to try to score on
those first three four innings.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yeah, and and and they've they've been successful in putting
pressure on the opposing starting pitcher during this this run
that they've had over the last couple of months. So, uh,
you're gonna have to you know, make your pitches and
execute and and you know Tanner bide to getting the
ball on Saturday is it's big because you know, he's

(04:33):
been locked in over his last few starts, and as
long as he's able to, you know, be efficient early on,
get through the first couple of innings without throwing, you know,
twenty five thirty pitches in an inning just to get through.
You know that that's a good sign for Cleveland if
he can be efficient early and and that gets him,
you know, into that fifth sixth inning and then you

(04:55):
turn things over to the bullpen and we know what
the story he goes once that happens.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Has Manager Steven Vote given any indication who's going with
in Game two.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
He hasn't come out and said anything directly in terms of,
you know, who's going to be the Game two starter,
but it's it's likely to be Matthew Boyd at this point.
You know. That's the way that these sim games have
lined up the last couple of days here at the ballpark.
Boyd pitched yesterday, looked strong through about seventy seventy five pitches,
looked really smooth and sharp. Alex Tobb pitched today. If

(05:32):
I had to go out and you know, you know,
I bet my house on it, I would I would
say that Alex Cobb starts Game three, and you know,
once you get to if you meet a game four,
you know, I wouldn't be surprised if they go out
there with a bullpen game, because at some point this
this bullpen is going to have a major impact on

(05:53):
the series, one way or another.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
All right, Joe, before I let you go, what's your
gut telling you about this series?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
I think the Guardians can get it done in four games.
I just they need to hit the ball, and it
all depends on how many times they have to face
Trek Schogle. If if they see him in Game one
and then in Game five as well, that could be tough.
I just I'm pretty confident that they can. They can

(06:21):
get to the Detroit bullpen at this point, so we'll
see how that.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Goes, all right, Joe, in all serious, that Chili was fantastic.
Thank you so much for inviting me over. No, I
really I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Hey, anytime, you know, it's the last home stand of
the season. Every year, the first game of that last
home stand is Chili.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Nick gotcha, I won't forget Joe Nouga. I'll see it's
the ballpark, buddy, all right, all right, that is Guardians
beat reporter Joe nougat Cleveland dot com and a plane dealer.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Well, we are in October, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
So my favorite time of the year. Well, it's one
of my favorite times of the year because it is
Baseball playoffs. It is and like, you know, here's the thing.
Anything can happen. And you know, people around us that
are Pittsburgh fans. You know, look, we talked about Nutting
the other day and some of the things and how
cheap he is. But people say, oh, you know, you're
a small market, you're mid market team. You're not going

(07:15):
to be able to succeed Detroit, Cleveland, Kansas City, Milwaukee.
Those teams right there, for example, are not are not
much bigger or are on the same size as Pittsburgh.
So don't say that it can't be done, because it
can be.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Well, here's the one thing about the Guardians. If you
have followed them now, I'll be honest, I follow once
we get in the playoff season. They have always approached
with their pitching. They haven't necessarily gone the route of
the Yankees, where it's the big dollars for the big hitters.

Speaker 6 (07:50):
With the Yankees, it's big dollars for big players, it
doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
But they have been able to manipulate or work around
the budget they have Yankees Dodger, Yeah, especially in pitching,
which has gotten them to where they are well.

Speaker 6 (08:03):
And sometimes it's all luck, too so because you might
have somebody that comes up, or you sign a free
agent that maybe hasn't been or you sign a kid
in the Rule five draft or whatever, and you know
that maybe they haven't been performing. Like Joey Bart was
a rookie for San Francisco a couple of years ago,
following Buster Posey. He didn't succeed in San Francisco, comes
to Pittsburgh and he has a kind of a breakout year.

(08:26):
I mean, he does well, but you know, it is
playoff time. I don't know if you saw last night, Man,
what a game between the Brewers and the Mets. I
mean it was a game. Three Brewers are up to
nothing and the Mets come back in the top of
the ninth to win. Pete Alonso hits a three run
hommer starring Marte you know, get adds an insurance run.
So you have the Mets in the Phillies tomorrow. We

(08:48):
just talked about the Guardians and the Tigers. Tomorrow afternoon,
the Yankees will host Kansas City UH in the playoff action,
and then the Dodgers host the Padres. So you have
you have some big spenders. You have the Phillies, you
have the Yankees, you have the Dodgers and the Padres.
Those are all your big spenders and the Mets, and
then the rest of them are you know, you're mid

(09:11):
mid level teams. The Guardians, Detroit and Kansas City. I mean,
so you know it's not it can be done, Let's
put it that way. And if you're a Pirates fan,
you know there is hope because you have some strong pitching.
So it's a matter of can you get can you
get some sticks in the lineup well?

Speaker 5 (09:28):
And then former Guardians manager Terry Francona, oh yeah, off to.

Speaker 6 (09:33):
The Red Guardians. Fans aren't happy because he retired.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
He retired and because of health concerns, and now he's
back and he's going to the Reds.

Speaker 6 (09:41):
Yep, little cross state rivalry there.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
But I mean, look, he's got a challenge on his hands, and.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
You know, maybe he had some issues and just needed
to get away from it. And now he's feeling better
and wants to get back in. I have no problem
with that.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Needed a break, but yeah, he's he's he's got some
work ahead of him.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (09:58):
Well, yeah, the Red You're gonna love it because Terry
Francon is a player's manager. Look what he did in Boston,
Look what he did in Cleveland, you know. And the
players love him.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
They love him, and they play for him, and that's
what you want a manager. Seven sixteen, we return. We're
going to dive into some hospital talk, hospital wars here
in the Ohio Valley. Seven sixteen, The Bloom Daddy Experience,
salmon Otis News Radio, eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome back at

(10:46):
seven twenty one Friday morning, The Bloom Daddy Experience, salmon
Otis News Radio, eleven seventy WWVA. We have a busy
show on tap for You've got a couple of people
coming into the studio, including one local who was stepping
up to help victims in the southern part of our
country affected by Helene. Going to talk about that and

(11:08):
their efforts. That's later on in the eight o'clock hour.
And also we're having some fun today, kind of piggybacking
or not.

Speaker 6 (11:16):
Well, Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
Piggybacking off of our conversation yesterday, we were talking about
the names of cars. What was the name of a
car that you have had, either past or present? A
good name. Mine The first car I ever had Gertrude
because she was and they're always female names. You ever
notice that, No, they're not like or they a lot

(11:43):
of the times.

Speaker 6 (11:44):
A lot of times they'll have it'll be like my
buddy's Ford Pinta was a cool mobile, so it'll have
something like that, like somebody. I have a nineteen eighty
three Mercury Cougar that's been the ido and I'll be
lucky if it ever runs again. But at one point

(12:04):
in time my buddy called it the Pimpmobile.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Nice, so nice.

Speaker 6 (12:10):
But anyway, yeah, I mean, so there are cars I
didn't name that. I'm just I'm just saying I did
not name it that.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Well, I know people.

Speaker 6 (12:17):
I'll actually I think my son named it that when
he was like in middle school.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
I know people out there have great names. Post it
on Facebook last night, so of course you can go
on there leave a comment with your name, or we're
here all morning with you. One eight hundred and six
to for eleven seventy or you can text us three
zero three eight two started off with Blue Danny and
of course there's the talkback feature on the iHeart app
WWVA that little microphone. Just touch that, leave us your

(12:46):
name if you want, tell us the name of your car.

Speaker 6 (12:48):
I had somebody approach me last night and come up
to me and say, oh, you had to bust but
there was basically a bar on wheels huh. And I
was like, I was like, what he goes? I was
like I had to think that because I mean, like
when you work too, joh, Like, there was a whole
nother job in between that conversation and the show yesterday,
and I'm like, what the hell is he talking about?

Speaker 5 (13:09):
That part of your brain is to oh yeah.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
It was like wait a minute. And then I had
to like regroup in my thoughts and I was like what,
oh boy, Yeah, I mean we could spend the whole
show telling stories on that vehicle right there.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Oh I did. It depends on how actually you can
get it.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Actually, if we just did a private podcast show on
that could have some oh oh my, you're even.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
A little pinked by saying that. So yeah, So we
did get some comments to kind of kick this off.
Besides my name for Gertrude, Let's see Anne Marie says,
in nineteen ninety I got my first car and eighty
five Dodge Daytona named her Chelsea. It had a white
spoiler and if you know what this is a cassette player.

(13:58):
So Chelsea the dog Daytona Chelsea. I wouldn't think of
Chelsea of a name. Let's see here. Yvonne said her, uh,
Tacoma Toyota Tacoma was the low red to set. Yeah,
I don't know. That's what's that's on Facebook.

Speaker 6 (14:16):
So we have we have Desiree from Wheeling, who's calling
in about her card name. Go ahead, Desiree. How you
doing good?

Speaker 7 (14:23):
How are you today?

Speaker 6 (14:24):
Thanks?

Speaker 7 (14:25):
This is gonna come. This is gonna come to sound
kind of funny. But my parents were very control freakish, shocker.
But my first vehicle was an extended green window van
that they had bought from their friends, and it had
a count that actually would pull out in the back,
but it was a window van and I called it

(14:46):
the Bookermobile because I bought it. Everywhere everyone knew where
it was, but it was known as the Bookermobile. It's
good because when I joined my sorority, we drove it
all around everywhere. It's oddly enough, I got it stuck
in the whyas Who preaching deck when I was going
to school there, and I had to call my mom,
my dad and my boyfriend to come and get it out.

(15:06):
I just started crying.

Speaker 8 (15:07):
And winter glass.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
And approximately what year was this?

Speaker 7 (15:14):
Nineteen eighties? Fash eight?

Speaker 6 (15:18):
Okay, okay, all right, so late eighties, all right, Yeah,
those vans, it wasn't like those vans weren't on the road.
It didn't didn't. I mean, but being Burger green, I'm
sure it stood out like a sword thumb.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
Did the couch match?

Speaker 7 (15:33):
Well, their friends, this is kind of gross, but it's
good for Halloween. Their friends. We were all part of
the bandit their friends. The man was the corner and
so he would do autopsies, but he'd go up to
play them everything. So it had a double gas tank.
But this is kind of gross. They used to say that.
His wife said when he would come home after doing autopsies,

(15:55):
he was really hungry.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
Oh annimal lector.

Speaker 7 (16:01):
Oh well it was a really nice guy, little little
computer nerdiest but really nice family.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
Good old animal all right. Well, Hey, desiree. Thanks and
have safe travels today.

Speaker 7 (16:16):
Thank you you too.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
What's how you kick off a Friday?

Speaker 6 (16:19):
The boogermobile.

Speaker 5 (16:23):
And a hungry person that does an autopsy. Oh that's
just that's disturbing.

Speaker 6 (16:27):
Yeah, that was a little weird.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
That's a little that's a little disturbing. Oh my goodness.
So again having some fun Friday today. You're laughing already?

Speaker 6 (16:36):
Well just yeah, just somebody because I had mentioned my
cougar and somebody said, let's get it running again.

Speaker 5 (16:41):
So there you go, Hey, get some work done. What
was the name of your vehicle? Six four eleven seventy
I did have.

Speaker 6 (16:48):
I did have. My first car that I actually bought
and that I got a loan for was a nineteen
eighty Camaro and it was booger green. I mean it.
And the funny thing is green is one of my
least favorite colors. But yet there are certain things that
I like that are green.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
Just see your shoes are green.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
Sometimes well that's that doesn't count.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
Although okay, that doesn't count.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
Now because sometimes I have Neon green shoes for our
transplant team, because that's our transplant team colors.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
First time, first car I ever bought myself cougar. It
was a sharp car.

Speaker 6 (17:24):
Now you are a cougar.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
Oh oh that hurt. But I look good in that car.
I look good. I was blonde at the time too.
That wasn't so great. But oh anyways, seven twenty eight,
Friday Morning, The bloom Daddy Experience salmon Otis News Radio
eleven seventy WWVA.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Obviously one of the huge stories in the United States.
It's what's going on with the flooding, the hurricane Hurricane
Helene talked to Mark Starling. He's our morning guy out
of Asheville, North Carolina. He gave us a riveting interview
just the other day about the devastation and how the
recovery efforts are just.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Starting right now.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Well, Jim Bailey is a private pilot from Wadsworth. He's
been flying relief missions into Asheville, North Carolina. As a
matter of fact, Statesville, North Carolina, which this is on
the outskirts, and he joins us now from Statesville. Jim,
how many missions have you flown in and just what
have you seen so far?

Speaker 8 (18:29):
So I've flown three missions so far. I've been flying
into Ash County, North Carolina. And first I gotta say,
the community here is really stepping up for western North Carolina.
The lines of people donating stuff that people working don
to dusk, collecting supplies, loading airplanes, the pilots from all

(18:51):
across the country. We stayed at hotel last night with
a gentleman from Wisconsin, met another gentleman this morning from Michigan.
Pilot came in from Waco, Texas. It's just from a
from the standpoint of what we are as Americans coming
together for everybody else. This is the greatest part about it.

(19:15):
I did get to talk to one of the citizens
up in ass County and he said that they had
lost over two hundred bridges in their county. Oh and yeah,
and they were still finding people. We flew up the
two missions yesterday and they have still found people. The
day before that had had no contact with anybody since

(19:37):
the storm had hit last week, and they're still finding folk.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
So, So, Jim, how does a small plane owner from
Wadsworth end up helping out in the relief efforts of
Hurricane Heleen?

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (19:52):
So I volunteered with an organization called arrow Bridge, and
they formed after one of the hurricanes years ago to
try and bring in aviation relief areas where frankly, you
couldn't get trucks in. It wasn't logistically possible to get
trucks in so that aircraft could go in to these local,

(20:15):
these regional general aviation airports and bring in supplies. So
it's just something that I'd never really had the time
that had worked out to make it happen, and so
this opportunity popped up and I was able to take
a few days and volunteer for Airbridge.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
I've got to ask you, while you're flying in, what
does the devastation look like from that high up?

Speaker 8 (20:41):
I mean, we saw some washed out bridges and some
definitely flooded areas where we flew into. It wasn't super
damaged here in the Statesville that we saw from the air.
But you know, this is the western north tier light
this wild country. There's a lot of trees that you
don't see what's underneath those trees.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
You you you know, when we were talking, you called
this entire effort coordinated chaos.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Explain that.

Speaker 8 (21:09):
So the number of airplanes, the number of people, the logistics.
You know, this is what's called an uncontrolled field, so
basically there's no control tower and the pilot's working together
to get into the pattern to make sure that everything
can get in, everybody can get out. At the airport
we were flying into, they were at times landing on

(21:32):
one runway and the partying on the opposite runway to
get traffic in and out. Five six seven planes waiting
to come in, five six seven planes waiting to go out.
It's just, you know, it's it's it's an interesting thing
to see and just you know, you say, hey, I
need to load of three hundred and fifty four hundred pounds,
and they start yelling out, we need five hundred, four hundred,
three hundred pounds, and they start loading pallets up. And

(21:56):
it's just the number of volunteers and it's it's like
bee and they're all everybody's working together.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Talking right now of Jim Bailey, a private pilot from
Wadsworth who's flying relief missions into Statesville, North Carolina for
the residents of Ashville, North Carolina. You know, I got
to point out, you brought up bees, you brought up
an insect. That cricket behind you sounds like he's six pounds.

Speaker 8 (22:24):
I don't know where I can hear him through my noise.
Cancel you headsets right now. So he's a going, well, you.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Know, there's an angle to this, Jim that I think
is is really really important, and it really points out
the importance of general aviation airports like Burke Lakefront. When
you hear people say we don't need Burke Lakefront, we
need to get rid of Burke Lakefront, you're living proof
with what you're doing right now how vital Burke Lakefront
could possibly be in the future.

Speaker 8 (22:52):
Absolutely absolutely. And you know we every small airport's always
under a fire from the local community. What does this
do for us? You know, the it's just these rich
people with their toys, and really it's everyday folks. The
guy with this plane next to me is a retired
school teacher. One of my other friends is a retired firefighter.
Right but in times of need, the airports provide a

(23:17):
logistical network to bring in relief as it's needed. And
you know, that was another thing. I was talking with
a gentleman up that in ass County and I said,
I said, wow, I said, really shows the importance of
having an airport. And he said, I don't think anybody
in this county's ever going to complain about the airport
ever again.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
Yeah, because you never know when you're gonna need it. Jim.
How special is it to be a part of something
like this?

Speaker 8 (23:45):
It's special, It absolutely is that. It's heartwarming. When we
got our second load strapped loaded yesterday, the lady is
helping load just asked if you know they could pray
with us to watch over us. And it's the community
coming together and citizens doing what they can to help

(24:08):
anybody else in need. I'm sitting here at the back
of the airport watching still a line of cars waiting
to drop off supplies.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
Wow.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
And that line's been NonStop. They were lined up before
when we got to the airport this morning.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
That's incredible.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Well, Jim, listen, I know Wadsworth is very very uh
proud of you, Northeast Ohio.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Proud of you, and keep up the great work.

Speaker 8 (24:33):
And it's not just me, thank you. It's not just me.
There's other pilots that have been coming down to Northeast Ohio.
A friend of mine's coming down tomorrow from Wadsworth as well,
So there's more pilots out there that have flown down
here from Ohio.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
So okay, we'll keep up the great job, Jim, We'll
do thank you. That is Jim Bailey private pilot from
Wadsworth again flying relief missions into Statesville, North Carolina to
aid the people that have just been devastated by Hurricane
Helene in Ashville, North Carolina.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
Okay, so first off, I don't want to make light,
but winner we GISs Jimminy Jimmy cricket.

Speaker 6 (25:11):
Oh goodness, that thing was so loud, like you got
to the point where.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
You had to acknowledge, Like first well.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Not only did blie that acknowledge it, but like that's all.
That's all. I Like, I stopped listening to the interview
because I was listening for the cricket.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
Again, don't want to make light.

Speaker 6 (25:29):
No, we're not, We're not. It was, but it was
the cricket in the background the show. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
he's like the little like the little kid that's like
on a zoom call and he's behind you making faces
and everybody else can see it but you and you
steal the show Photoba. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
So you know, if you've been watching the videos that
have been coming out with what the people are dealing
with in the South and whether it's Ashville, whether it's
in Georgia, because this is basically an unprecedented flooding that
we've never seen. But you know what before you jump
in otis you know what it made me think of
a conversation you and I had a couple of weeks

(26:07):
ago when we were talking about how how polarizing and
divisive in this political you know, the country is right now,
and you you very correctly said we're going to need
something like nine to eleven to unite us again. And
as you're seeing people from all over the country are

(26:29):
doing what they can't.

Speaker 6 (26:30):
Yeah, I think, but I think it's a little different.
I mean people an attack. Yeah, people are coming together,
and it is a non partisan support for the for
the people there that you know, have lost everything. But
but it's not it's not bringing the entire country to gotcha.
I mean everybody everybody has the same feelings. You know,

(26:52):
my gosh, this is horrible. What can we do to help?
So on and so forth, And there's not a person
in this country it's not asking that question. It's just
but it's not. You know, tomorrow, they're still going to
go home on Facebook and be their keyboard warrior.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Yeah, I got you.

Speaker 6 (27:09):
It's not going to be USA, USA, USA, it's going
to be let's help the people. But I'm still I'm
still a Trump aiter, I'm still a Kamala hater. I'm
still whatever.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:19):
So but yeah, and just to little note how people
are stepping up. There's a story on the wire today
some restaurants in Charleston, West Virginia. One of the restaurants
said that today's sales, they're gonna don't They're going to
take all of today's sales and take fifteen percent and
donate it to the people in the southeast and North

(27:40):
Carolina to help them purchase whatever they need to purchase.
And it kind of took a snowball effect where about
ten other restaurants they've jumped on board, that have jumped
on board. So, I mean, you have one restaurant, you
know fifteen percent, if they do you know, ten thousand
in sales, that's great. But now if you have ten
restaurants that have fifteen thousand or ten thousand dollars in tails,

(28:01):
that it's going to add up. So I mean, hats
off to those restaurants. I know they're they're not in
our listening areas, so I mean, but you know, just
it's nice when you see things.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Like this thing's happening, and that's why you know, coming
in in the next hour, we're going to have a
local who was stepping up to do some stuff along
with Trinity along That's why I was get to Trinity. Yes,
they are starting today, uh, collecting at the entrance of
Franciscan Square. They're going to start shipping down tomorrow and
they're asking for things even like can openers that kind

(28:33):
of stuff. One of the diapers are a big one.

Speaker 6 (28:35):
One of the things that I heard on Glenn back
yesterday that people that nobody thinks about, but they need
like the professional work boots, like the firefighter boots.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
All the waterproof plastic yeaheah.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
So they in that steel toe you know type thing.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
So when people say they lost everything, they.

Speaker 6 (28:54):
Lost every well in the and the workers their their
shoes are getting they're they're getting ruined and everything else.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Any replacements, Yeah, Yeah, we're gonna talk about that a
little bit more. We get back, gonna get into the
medical conversation we didn't quite get to. And then also
we have a big announcement seven forty seven, the bloom
Daddy Experience. Sam and Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA.

(29:35):
We are flying right along on this Friday seven to
fifty two the bloom Daddy Experience OTIS and Sam News
Radio eleven seventy WWVA. So before we get to our
big announcement, want to kind of go back to a
story we had at the very end of the show
yesterday sort of breaking news that OTIS you found out about.
So if you kind of had to tune out before

(29:57):
we were done, we wanted to bring this back to
you and let everybody know what's going on.

Speaker 6 (30:01):
Yeah, one of the things we had a caller yesterday
say that the met Express franchise was being purchased by UPMC,
that he had a friend that his wife worked there,
and they called him into a meeting. They actually closed
the met Express and called all the employees in and
told them that met Express was being sold to UPMC.

(30:21):
And since I have a friend that works at one
of the met expresses, I reached out to that person
and I said, Hey, there's a rumor going around blah
blah blah, it's true, And she said, yes, it's true.
So UPMC looks to be buying the met expresses around here,
So you know, not only you're going to have the
WVU met Express or the WU Urgent Care, whatever you

(30:43):
want to call it. Now you're going to have UPMC
coming in at the met Expresses and we obviously we
don't know what the name of them. You know, it's
going to be UPMC urgent Care, UPMC quick quick heel
what you know, whatever it is.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
Early response, Yeah, yeah, So just adding to the medical
care in the Ohio Valley. I don't think it's it's
not bad. It's not a bad thing. The more competition,
the better healthcare we're going to have, because you have
to keep up with your competition. Another note on healthcare
here in the High Valley. I have it from three

(31:19):
different sources that I trust that WU Medicine has purchased
over thirty acres in Belmont County. And the original location
that deal fell through had that much much earlier in
the year. Brought that to you, but that deal fell through.
So now it is going to be near Fox Run

(31:42):
in Belmont County. So over if you are kind of
looking at Gabes back in that area, back by Fox Run.
So according to my sources, over thirty plus acres has
been purchased in building a hospital. So the hospital in

(32:02):
healthcare industry in the Ohigh Valley is chugging a long,
a lot of changes happening. Trinity's building their community hospital
in Saint Clairsville. Now this WVU from our sources that
we've been given and then UPMC. So there's a lot
going on. There is a lot.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
Going on, And just one thing I want to touch
on before we get to our announcement.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Again.

Speaker 6 (32:27):
I had my opinion. We had that promo for the
Caitlin Clark the Making of a Rivalry.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
Oh yes, yes, yes, yeah.

Speaker 6 (32:32):
It's on the podcast and I gave my opinion on
that earlier in the week. Just to let everybody know,
Caitlin Clark was named the w NBA Rookie of the Year.
She got sixty six of the sixty seven votes. Who
does Angel rees got the other? Right?

Speaker 5 (32:47):
It doesn't say who.

Speaker 6 (32:48):
I just said it was voted on by a panel
of sports traders and broadcasters. So I'm guessing that probably
the sports trader from Chicago or possibly a sports writer
from where you know, wherever Angel Reice is from, is
the one.

Speaker 5 (33:03):
That voted for her hometown.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
Type of yeah, I mean, Caitlin Clark said all kind
of rookie records, and she said some w NBA records.
I mean, so how do you not give it to her?

Speaker 5 (33:14):
Well?

Speaker 6 (33:14):
She and the main thing is she changed your game.

Speaker 5 (33:18):
Yes, and she's become the face of it, which they
really haven't had a face of the w NBA since
I haven't had one. Yeah, I mean you knew Lisa Lisa, No,
but you had.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
I mean you have Diana Tarassi, you have, you had
the big names, the big college players, but they didn't
put they didn't put butts in the seats. She's putting
butts in the seats.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
She's making an interesting all right, Well we're going to
be a little bit interesting. We have a big announcement,
So we have some fun that we're kicking off thanks
to our friends at River City. So basically what we're
going to be doing every week, we're going to have
a different winner and Otis and I. On Friday, we'll

(34:00):
be delivering lunch to your office for ten up to
ten people. This is all courtesy of our wonderful friends
at River City.

Speaker 6 (34:11):
So there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Speaker 5 (34:12):
Yes, basically yes, And it's going to include wraps and
salads and even some chocolate. Chip cookies, so we're even
bringing the dessert. And so how we're going to do
this is you're going to submit your name, business name,
contact name, and contact information on the talkback, butmber phone
number on the talkback that we've done before, and then

(34:36):
we will randomly on Wednesday pick a winner and then
we will contact you and then we'll bring you the
food on Friday. Something fun, something fun.

Speaker 6 (34:44):
So giving back to you, we're giving back to you
with some help of our friends down at River City.
And you know it's an opportunity to meet us and
also to have enjoy lunch.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Hey, there's nothing like some free food.

Speaker 6 (35:00):
Nothing like some free I mean, and like if your
business only has five people and you get lunch for ten,
guess what you have lunch the next day too? And ok,
or you can take it home.

Speaker 5 (35:09):
And it's not starting today.

Speaker 6 (35:10):
No, no, no, no, we.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
Just wanted to let everybody know we're going to be
starting this.

Speaker 6 (35:14):
Listen for the promos register and then we'll clear that.
We'll clear the cache after each week and you start over.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
Yes, So who doesn't want some free lunch and who
doesn't want to have us visit seven fifty eight The
Bloom Daddy Experience samon Otis News Radio eleven seventy see.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Number one talk show in the Ohio Vlley. This is
the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His goal inform,
entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy Experience on
news Radio eleven seventy WWVA starts now.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
Welcome back eight oh six. The bloom Daddy Experience Sam
and Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Of course, Hurricane
Helene top of everybody's minds currently locally, nationally, across the globe.
We have never seen anything like this. Well, there are
people here across the Ohio Valley who, of course can
sympathize with what the survivors are going through because they've

(36:18):
been through it themselves. But there's also those locally who
are stepping up and joining me. Now is an example
of that. Dudley Kramer from Saint Clairsville. Good morning, Dudley,
Good morning Sam. So tell me what made you decide
to within a week raise as much as you can.

Speaker 9 (36:38):
Well, it came from a buddy of mine up in Sandusky, Ohio,
Kevin Brown. Now he did this for Kentucky when the
disaster happened there and took a load down and we
talked and just decided that it was it was a
great idea. He's collecting up in Sandusky, so I figured
we need to collect here as well and collect as

(37:00):
much items as we can between the town. The Ohio
Valley has always been wonderful about donating and this is
just a great way for us to help out down there.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
So tell me how this is working. Like drop off
collection days, all.

Speaker 9 (37:12):
Of that collection is during the hours of Kirk's ice cream.
He's got him posted on his website. That's our collection point.
Kurt has been generous enough to allow us to use
this ice cream store because everybody knows where it's at.
Get some ice cream while you're there. But so that's

(37:33):
our collection point. Our plan is to move out Sunday morning.
He's going to load everything he's got. We've got a
forty foot motor home with a it's a toy hauler,
so we've got the garage in the back end and
a sixteen foot trailer so we can haul a ton
of stuff. And we've been fortunate enough. When I posted
this on Facebook, buddy of mine, Doug Wright, lives up

(37:55):
in Toledo. He's friends with the gentleman from Campbell's Soup,
and campbell Soup donated three thousand kins of soup and
the meals that they package, So we're very blessed to
get that to take that down with us.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
Well, according to Kirk's opens it Noon. Okay, so there
we go, opens it Noon. Now, what are some of
the most important things that they are asking for so
that our listeners when they drop off, they know exactly
what to get to provide.

Speaker 9 (38:24):
Well, the FEMA list I posted on Facebook, but there's
other items that aren't on there. But one of the
big things that they said they need is diapers, formula bottles,
baby bottles, dog food, cat food, litter, feminine hygiene products,
just the things. Think of what you do every single

(38:45):
day getting dressed, and those people have nothing.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
They don't take their clothes on the back of the.

Speaker 9 (38:51):
Clothes on their back. The one thing that FEMA asked
not to bring was was use clothing. If you look
on the list, water don't bring water. They have companies
shipping in truckloads of water. Uh, so they've got that.
But uh, cleaning products, uh, just anything and everything that
you can think of that you do in your daily life, socks, underwear,

(39:13):
things like that. They want, uh, you know, food items,
but it has to be like powdered drinks. If you
go on Facebook, gets on there the list from FEMA,
and we've heard some other list of people, you know
that things that weren't on a FEMA's list that we
could bring as well.

Speaker 5 (39:30):
And one of the things I've seen is, of course
there's a lot of companies that are donating a lot
of can goods and those types of things, things like
can openers or can openers are needed, right, you know,
you get that stuff, you have to be able to
open it. So those kind of things that people don't
think of it. Otis mentioned heavy boots for the cleaning situation,
So anything you can think of, they're basically going to.

Speaker 9 (39:52):
Fortunately, like all the campbell soup, the cans are not
pull tops. All they gave is all the ones okay
top because they so that helps, but can op Yes,
there's a lot of a lot of products down there
that they need them for. So and think of the
workers too. You know, you need the people, but the
workers need things people cleaning up you know, paper towels,
cleaning supplies, simple green whatever, it is. Yeah, any kind

(40:15):
of any kind of cleaning product.

Speaker 6 (40:16):
And keep in mind that a lot of these places
don't have running water. So like you know, if you
in your mind you're thinking, okay, well, hey maybe i'll
I'll donate some something like a toilet bowl cleaner or whatever,
there's no need for that because there's no running water
right now. Yeah, it's clean your house. It's it's it's
you need the light ale, you need, the wipes you need.
Those are the things that you that you're gonna need.

Speaker 5 (40:38):
Mops, body crops, yeah, that kind of stuff. So again
talking to Dudley Kramer heading up hurricane collection here in
the Saint Clairsville, Ohio Valley area. Drop off is it
Kirk's ice Cream in Saint Clairsville. You know where that's at.
We've been telling you for years. But they're open at noon,
so that during the days that are open. And of
course you said the drive is starting Sunday, So starting

(41:01):
today through Sunday you're going to be doing the collecting.

Speaker 9 (41:03):
That's correct. We actually posted it and started yesterday. We
got a nice start yesterday from people bringing stuff over
and today all day you know, we'll be collecting today
and tomorrow and then we'll gather everything. He's coming down
with his motor home and the trailer. We'll load everything
up and we're we don't know our exact destination yet.
We're working on that yet, because they've told us not

(41:25):
to come in someplace as someplace we've come in and
we may end up in Tennessee at Bristol. They're using
that as a collection point and then they're flying things
in from there. So we got a couple different options.
We're just gonna figure out which one's the best one
to drop. And and so you know, people have access.

Speaker 5 (41:44):
To it, and you kind of started this late yesterday
we did. What's I mean, it's been under twenty four hours.
What's the response you've seen from the valley.

Speaker 9 (41:52):
It's it's been really good. People have reached out to
me asking, you know, what kind of stuff they can
bring that maybe isn't on the list, Like Lamar Signs
reached out they have the signs are made out of
tarp material and they have a bunch of those, and
I did see we need tarp, So I'm gonna got
to get a hold of her and we're going to
take a bunch of tarp. So there's there's just so

(42:14):
many things that they need down there. So somebody might
get some free advertising on somebody's house with the tarp
on it. So you know, if you see it on
the news or something, you might get some advertising.

Speaker 5 (42:25):
You know where it came from.

Speaker 6 (42:27):
So I think there's a question in my head, and
you know, it's it would be a good problem to have.
What happens if you collect too much stuff that doesn't
fit into your transportation.

Speaker 9 (42:38):
Well, I've got a backup. I've got another sixteen foot
trailer in my truck. I'll just we'll end uploading another
sixteen foot trailer up and taking that down because.

Speaker 6 (42:47):
You don't want stuff being dropped off and then it
doesn't go.

Speaker 9 (42:50):
If we have to make more than one trip, it'll
get there.

Speaker 6 (42:52):
Okay.

Speaker 9 (42:53):
Fortunately I'm retired, Kevin's retired, my buddy up Sandusky, so
we can make as many trips as need be, so
to keep bringing it and we'll get it there.

Speaker 5 (43:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (43:01):
And you know, here's the other thing. If maybe to
kind of help you guys out. The other thing is,
you know, if somebody wants to donate a gas card
to help you guys get there back, that's not gonna hurt.
That's not gonna hurt either.

Speaker 9 (43:12):
No, not at all. That's that's wonderful. Thank you for Yeah,
it's fine. I mean, that's that's great. But main things
of people down there, man, they're hurting so bad.

Speaker 6 (43:21):
But you have to get there.

Speaker 9 (43:22):
We do. We have to get there, so we appreciate
that well.

Speaker 5 (43:24):
And here's the other thing I can. If anybody wants
to talk to Dudley has some ideas, I can, of course,
you know, reach out to us here want one hundred
and sixty to for eleven seventy or on Facebook, and
I can put you in contact with Dudley because I'm
sure there's stuff that we're not even thinking of right now.

Speaker 6 (43:41):
Is the live action Dudley do right there? I've never
heard that, but he's doing something nice, So he's.

Speaker 5 (43:49):
Dudley do right doing it right yep yep. So once again,
drop off starting today at Kirk's Ice Cream in Saint Clairsville,
hitting the road on Sunday. Anything pretty much, anything that
you can help, they will take and make sure it
gets into the right thing.

Speaker 6 (44:08):
And it doesn't have to be top show like can openers.
You can go to the Dollar store and pick up
ten dollars worth. That's you know, it's six or seven
can openers. I mean, you know, socks. You can go
to Gabes or you can go you know, you don't
have to buy the the top NOTCHFF doesn't have to
be name brand exactly. They just need it.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
Yes, it doesn't have to be Bounty, it doesn't have
to be Sharman. It can be the Cheapo's.

Speaker 9 (44:33):
So they're desperate down there. I mean, it's it's devastating
femas out of money. They've been told, you know, basically
what they have right now.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
Is what they're getting. And it's terrible, sad, it's it's
and when you see the first hand videos, it just
it hits you. It hits you so hard, but it
hits you and you're taking action and your your buddy,
so you know, I'll shout out to you wonderful things.
And again, if you want to get a hold of Dudley,
you have ideas and you want to step up and
help in some way, please call us and I'll get

(45:04):
you in contact one one hundred and sixty two four
eleven seventy. Dudley, thank you so much for jumping in
this morning. You're gonna be a busy man the next
couple of days.

Speaker 9 (45:12):
Well, we look forward to it and looking forward and
getting down there, and the Ohio Valley's always stepped up. Yeah,
we're hoping they step up big time for this. Absolutely,
we hope we have to take that extra trailer. So
bringemp to Kurks, but make sure you get some ice
cream while you're there.

Speaker 5 (45:25):
Fantastic, Hey, stick with us. We'll be back right after
this eight fifteen on your Friday morning. The bloom Daddy
Experience OTIS and Sam News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Welcome

(45:56):
back a twenty one The bloom Daddy Experience OTIS and
Sam News Radio, eleven seventy w w VA. Man, Man.

Speaker 6 (46:06):
The nice thing is there's people like Dudley all across
the country that are doing things like this. I mean,
blim Daddy had his guest that's doing it. You know,
almost every radio show that I've listened to in the
last three or four days has had somebody come on
that is organizing some sort of an effort. Yes, to
get supplies to the affected area.

Speaker 5 (46:26):
Yes, you may think that what you could accomplish is
not that much, but this is you know, everything.

Speaker 6 (46:35):
Will help if you don't if you go out to
the store and spend ten dollars on you know, a
package of socks, you know, six socks, three socks, three pairs,
you know, not six socks, but six pair of socks,
ten pair of socks. Spend ten dollars by a pack
of underwear. But do this, do that? Trust me, it's

(46:57):
going to go a long way. And you know, just
remember that there are babies and infants out there that
you know, go and buy a onesie or or something
of like that nature. Uh, you know, diapers, like they said, formula,
and maybe it doesn't matter what you buy. It's gonna
it's somebody's gonna need it.

Speaker 5 (47:17):
Well, I mean, just think about it. When the power
goes off at your house or you have a waterline
break and in for four or five hours, it becomes
you know, irritating, and you don't have the internet and
you can't watch television, or you can't you know, take
a nice hot shower. These people are gonna be like

(47:37):
this for months, absolute months, So any any little thing helps.
I mean I saw a picture yesterday and it was
this little girl maybe four, floating on a boat. She's
absolutely sopping wet in the rain over the weekend and
she's just grasping onto her puppy.

Speaker 6 (47:58):
Well, it was just like, oh, you you might think
of something like you know that they don't. This is
things that you don't necessarily need, but like maybe a
stuffed animal or something of that nature goes a long
way with some sort of kid.

Speaker 5 (48:12):
Yeah, comfort and sometimes you know, the water, the food. Absolutely,
it's a necessity. The comfort though, like otis just like
you said, just that one little piece of comfort will
bring so much relief to somebody. So to Dudley and
his team and everybody that's doing this, kudos to you

(48:32):
and we will be of any assistance as we can.
Some other local news while we're at it. Grandeurs in
West Virginia will consider the case of a man charged
in the killing of his girlfriend that occurred last weekend.
Were the police responded to the home last Saturday, where
they found an armed man outside threatening paramedics, and the

(48:55):
man's twenty eight year old girlfriend was shot dead inside
the residence. Defendant Jordan Paige appeared in court yesterday where
prosecutors pushed their case for charges of both first and
second degree murder, while Pager's attorney argued that the first
degree charge should be dropped. Page's attorney says that the
killing was not premeditated, meditated, so it will be going

(49:19):
to a jury. So williams Lee ribbon cutting. Local leaders
are celebrating the completion of renovations at williams Lee right
across the street from US our neighbors. Officials gathered yesterday
at the company for this ribbon cutting, where there is
more than five hundred employees, and it first came to
Wheeling in two thousand fours.

Speaker 6 (49:40):
They didn't invite us to the celebration, No, they didn't.
Some neighbors they probably had cake. They didn't invite us.

Speaker 5 (49:50):
Well, probably that might be why. And then Moundsville, construction
is underway on the new city building. It's been delayed,
but now it is finally underway. Once completed, the city
hall offices and other agencies will be housed in the building.
Officials aren't sure when the project will be finished since

(50:11):
it's been delayed multiple times.

Speaker 6 (50:12):
Just one thing, if you're going to be in Weirton
this afternoon, Weird and Madonna's homecoming is this weekend, so
they are having their homecoming parade and it's going to
start at four forty five. That means that several lanes
are going to be closed on Penco Road for about
a half an hour. There will be police there to
secure the area to make sure that student, staff and

(50:32):
the community members are safe. So if you're going to
be in Weirton late this afternoon again starting at four
to forty five, you may want to avoid the Penco
Road area unless you're headed to the homecoming preinde.

Speaker 5 (50:43):
Yeah, homecoming activities are all over the valley. I think
Wheeling Park was last night. Their parade was last night. Yeah,
so all of that is going on around you.

Speaker 6 (50:52):
Also this weekend you can tell them involved in homecoming.
I don't like. I think Wu's was to weeks ago.
I don't even like. I don't read.

Speaker 7 (51:03):
It.

Speaker 6 (51:03):
Just I just somehow I always miss that.

Speaker 5 (51:06):
If you don't have kids in high school, I mean,
it's not really top priority.

Speaker 6 (51:09):
Yeah, you know, but as an alumni you should know
when homecoming.

Speaker 5 (51:13):
Oh, that's true. I knew of Wheeling Park because a
friend of mine's son was going to it, So that's
the only reason I know. But along with it this
weekend Ogleby Fest. Yeah, oh I love ogle Be Fest.
I'm going tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (51:24):
Tomorrow, are you going to stop by my son's booth?

Speaker 5 (51:27):
Well, yes, actually, okay, yes, good. Uh he's got some
good Christmas presents.

Speaker 9 (51:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (51:33):
He is a he's an up and coming artist. He's
got some art. More he's more into uh, ceramics and
pottery and Texas. So he has some bowls, he has
some lamps, he has some vases, and he he told
me he's going to be in the vicinity of the amphitheater.
Oh okay, so it is Maddern made ceramics.

Speaker 5 (51:54):
So if you're interested, well, and the weather's supposed to
be nice, I'd use the help. The weather is supposed
to be nice. I always have used ogle Bye Fest
as my kickoff to my holiday shopping, okay, because you
can get really unique stuff up there vendors all across
the area.

Speaker 6 (52:10):
I use the day when they put my money in
my checking account for my for my Christmas Club, that's
when I kick off my shopping. Actually I take that
back because on Prime Day that was earlier in the
year in July, I did buy some Christmas gifts. So
I've had I've had Christmas gifts at my house for

(52:30):
five months now.

Speaker 5 (52:30):
For I st't forget where you put it.

Speaker 6 (52:33):
I've done it too, my mom. My mom is famous
for that. She was, well, I know I got you
something else, but I can't find it. And then you
get it in like May, and she'll go Merry Christmas,
and I'm like like what she was, well, I finally
found it. That's my mom. Anybody that knows there's like, yep,
that's happened. She does it with wedding gifts, birthday gifts.

(52:55):
It doesn't matter. She goes, oh, I bought you this,
but I don't know what I did with it.

Speaker 8 (52:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (52:58):
But then to get a random gift in like May, yeah,
it is not bad. A twenty eight Friday morning. You
know what that means. We've got to talk some football.
That's coming up next The Bloe Daddy Experience Otis and
Sam News Radio eleven seventy ww V. A Happy Friday,

(53:31):
eight thirty six. The bloom Daddy Experience Sam and Otis
News Radio eleven seventy ww VA going to get into
some football talks it since Friday. So let's go to
Chris Sober and Good morning, Chris.

Speaker 10 (53:46):
Hey, good morning, coming to you live from the woods
at Barkamp State Parks today.

Speaker 5 (53:51):
Is it beautiful out there this morning or a low fogball?

Speaker 10 (53:54):
Dam it is, Sam. It is absolutely gorgeous out here.
Cann't wait for the races this week. It's going to
take place out here. But I'll tell you what. Before that,
we got some football to take care of. So I'll
tell you what. Nott a better weekend racing and football.

Speaker 5 (54:08):
Nice. So what do we have on tap on Kiss
and Fox Sports tonight.

Speaker 10 (54:14):
Well, let's start on Fox JaMarcus Webster, Corey Klue. They're
going to be bringing you Union Local and Cambridge. Now
these teams have opposite records, Union Local coming in at
six and Oho Cambridge still looking for their first win
of the season. The Jets, they are clicking on all
cylinders right now. So Cambridge is in for a big
fight here. I don't think the Bobcats are gonna have

(54:35):
enough to upset the Jets. I think the Jets are
gonna go ahead and fly away with this one. But
i'll tell you what, still looking forward to that one.
But over on Kiss you have five and one bel
Air Dixon O Saint Clairsville. That game is going to
be an absolute war and I'm so excited for the
fans in the valley because they're going to be joined
by the voice of the West Liberty Hilltoppers Todd Ollam

(54:57):
and then of course Jeffrey Blumin a are Color common
so they'll be bringing you that game on kiss.

Speaker 5 (55:03):
You are full of energy this morning. You are pumped.
It's a big football day.

Speaker 10 (55:09):
Oh it is. And like I said, Sam, you know,
I'm just so blessed to be able to do what
I do and you know, be able to listen into
these games tonight while we're finishing up final race preparation
and then being back in the studio with you and
otis next week that you, like I said, I'm looking
forward to all of it.

Speaker 5 (55:23):
Perfect. Okay, I'm gonna ask you this quick. I'm gonna
make a give you some stats right now. If you
are a head coach or an offensive coach, which would
which set of stats would you prefer? I'm gonna no names,
know nothing. Okay, quarterback nineteen of twenty four, one hundred
and eighty yards and three touchdowns. Okay, there's one step

(55:45):
stat set forty two of fifty eight passes for five
hundred and nine yards and four touchdowns. Wow, which one
are you going for? You know?

Speaker 10 (56:00):
What I got to go with the more passing, because
that's the thing. If you're throwing that many passes, the
defense has got to know that the pass is coming
and to be able to complete that many passes in
that percentage for that many touchdowns and yards. I got
to go with that, I mean, because the defense knows
what's coming and you're still obliterating them.

Speaker 5 (56:18):
So those are the QB stats from last night's Thursday
Night football Falcons Buccaneers. So was it Mayfield? Was it
Mayfield or Kirk Cousins with the higher numbers?

Speaker 10 (56:30):
I got to go with Mayfield for sure. I mean,
he is just on fire right now.

Speaker 5 (56:34):
It was Kirk Cousins and nine ohs.

Speaker 10 (56:41):
Now Yeah, I mean, hey, good for him.

Speaker 5 (56:43):
Yeah yeah, So didn't see that coming of course. So yeah,
he was lights out last night. So good football game
last night. So let's touch on some college real quick.
WVU at Oklahoma State.

Speaker 6 (56:57):
Who you got.

Speaker 10 (57:00):
You know, I'm gonna catch crap for this because I
used to work at Oklahoma State and a lot of
WVU fans. I got the Mountaineers by a field goal.
All right, sorry if any of my Oklahoma State friends
are listening in, But I'm sorry, I got the Mountaineers
in this one.

Speaker 5 (57:15):
And Iowa at Ohio State.

Speaker 10 (57:17):
Is there even a question Ohio State by murder? Nice,
I'm not even gonna hesitate. I mean, Iowa was defense
is pretty good, but they're having issues putting the points
on the board. I got the buck eyes all the
way in that one.

Speaker 5 (57:31):
Nice, And remind everybody again what we have on tap
tonight in the.

Speaker 10 (57:34):
Stations absolutely Fox seven PM, your kickoff Union Local and Cambridge,
Corey Klute, JaMarcus Webster and then over on Kiss it
is a seven thirty kickoff between bel Air and Saint
Clairsville The Points of the Hilltoppers Todd Ollum and then
Jeffrey Blum and I are, like I said, folks, no
excuses here tonight. Pick one of those games and definitely

(57:55):
tune in.

Speaker 5 (57:56):
And before I let you go real quick our fun
Friday Top question for two Day? Did you ever name
one of your vehicles and what was the name?

Speaker 3 (58:07):
Yes? I did.

Speaker 10 (58:08):
It was my first ever vehicle, which was a Chevy Blazer,
and I called it the Red Rocket because I was
just beat even out there with that thing. I was
like fifteen when I got it.

Speaker 5 (58:17):
Nice.

Speaker 10 (58:18):
Nice, Yeah, I'm not let pot anymore. But yeah, I
definitely walked back then, I have to admit it.

Speaker 5 (58:24):
Sam, wonderful. Well, Chris, Hey, have a great morning out
at bar Camp. Enjoy this beautiful morning.

Speaker 10 (58:30):
Absolutely. Hey, thank you guys so much.

Speaker 5 (58:31):
All Right, we'll see you next Friday. There you go, Chris,
throwbern lit quick voice football here at iHeart.

Speaker 6 (58:39):
You get a couple, but you get a couple of
NFL games too. You got You've got the Commanders coming
in to take on your Browns. Uh, that's that'll be
Sunday afternoon and then Sunday evening. You have Probably it's funny.
It's it's kind of a rivalry game. But these teams
don't play that often, but the fan base is just
absolute hate each other. And that's the Cowboys and the Steelers. Yes,

(59:04):
you know it's funny.

Speaker 5 (59:06):
Because I think they want to see that rivalry renewed.

Speaker 6 (59:09):
Well exactly. Well, here's you figure. In the seventies, two
of Pittsburgh's Super Bowl wins came against the Steelers. And
you know that they were great games back in the day.
They were back and forth. You know, they were close.
It was when the game was interesting to say the least.

(59:32):
I mean for me at least. I mean, like it
was smash mouth football. It was top names. I mean
Bradshaw versus Staubach, Frank o'harris, Tony dor Set, Lynn Swan,
Drew Pearson. I mean, you could match everybody. You had
the Doomsday defense against the steel Curtain. I mean, that's

(59:55):
when it was like you got into it.

Speaker 9 (59:58):
Yeah, and it was football.

Speaker 6 (01:00:00):
Oh yeah. I mean I remember being in like grade school,
the sixth grade, and my teacher in the sixth grade
was a huge Steeler fan. Her whole room was nothing
but Steelers. And at the time I was a Cowboys fan.
And the reason I was a Cowboys fan was because
a friend of mine, his dad was drafted by the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (01:00:23):
Well, okay, so that's.

Speaker 6 (01:00:24):
Kind of like why I went that direction. Plus my
best friend at the time he was a Cowboys fan,
so that way we were on the same chorge. And
but you know, that's it is what it is, and
you know, and then so then a couple of years
later they play again and Dallas actually beats Pittsburgh in
the Super Bowl. That was Pittsburgh's at least Super Bowl loss.

(01:00:46):
So you know, it's just kind of you know, you
sit there and you go, man, what a great rivalry
the Cowboys Steelers is. But I just don't think the
Cowboys haven't been relevant for twenty years at least.

Speaker 5 (01:01:00):
I mean Romo era.

Speaker 6 (01:01:03):
Really, I mean, you have to for the Cowboys to
be relevant, you have to go back to the Akman
Emmitt Smith.

Speaker 5 (01:01:09):
I'm saying the Romo era.

Speaker 6 (01:01:11):
You have to go back to the nineties.

Speaker 5 (01:01:13):
Yeah, realistic, Yeah, because that was Akmen.

Speaker 6 (01:01:16):
Yeah, Emmitt Smith, Yes, Michael Irvin, you know, and just
I mean that was that was a good that was
a good dynasty right there.

Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:01:27):
Of course, the Steeler fans hated the Cowboys. Cowboys hate
the Steelers. So I mean it's but that's a fun one.
That's actually a fun rivalry, even though it's not a
rivalry because they don't play every year.

Speaker 5 (01:01:39):
Yeah, they're not the same division.

Speaker 6 (01:01:41):
Yeah, but it's but it goes it harkens back to that, Yeah,
you know, it harkens back to fifty years ago.

Speaker 5 (01:01:48):
How about those numbers, Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins of all people.

Speaker 6 (01:01:52):
I mean, in today's game, it's a passing game, so
it's not it's not unheard of and you know, if
you're clicking and your receivers can hold onto the ball
and your line can give you time to throw, there's
any quarterback can do it. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
He chewed up that secondary.

Speaker 6 (01:02:12):
For you know, and you dnk it. Yeah, a lot
of it. You know. You might say he passed for
five hundred yards or whatever, but how many of that?
How much? How many of those yards were run after catch?

Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:02:24):
You put it in that too, you see. So, I
mean you had the factor there's some things you can
factor in in that, yeah, but five hundred yards of
no matter how you slice it up, he sliced pretty impressive.

Speaker 5 (01:02:35):
He did slice it up. Hey. On our text line,
of course, our question today is you know, what was
the name of your car? Have a good one? We
want to know on the text line it says nice.
Topic on the car. Mine was the nineteen seventy three
Chevy Vega Orange with black vinyl seats. Oh god, had
a Cbee radio nice and a nine foot whip antenna.

(01:02:57):
It was the orange Pumpkin.

Speaker 6 (01:02:59):
Of course, what else could it have been?

Speaker 5 (01:03:02):
Seventy three Vega Orange CB nice Nice. That's a good one.
Eight forty five goodness, the bloom Daddy experience. Samon Otis
News Radio eleven seventy w w v A eight fifty one.

(01:03:42):
We're doing a little disco on your Friday morning, waiting
for John jravolton is white suit to come.

Speaker 6 (01:03:50):
That little ditty is called field the Night.

Speaker 5 (01:03:53):
I don't say, didty anymore?

Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
D I T T y okay? D wise, what's it
called feel the night?

Speaker 5 (01:04:06):
Little seventies little groove action going on like.

Speaker 6 (01:04:10):
That would have been great in a seventies disco movie.

Speaker 5 (01:04:14):
Yeah, Twinkle Toes.

Speaker 6 (01:04:17):
Or one of the skating movies, roller skating movies. They
had a bad day.

Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
Yeah, oh gosh.

Speaker 6 (01:04:24):
That's one thing I couldn't do it. I couldn't skate backwards.

Speaker 5 (01:04:27):
What a morning.

Speaker 6 (01:04:28):
What kept me from playing hockey That the fact that
I didn't want to get hurt for basketball, which that
was a great movie. Being a six to two white dude.

Speaker 5 (01:04:41):
Oh okay, I.

Speaker 6 (01:04:43):
Made excellent choices when I played sports.

Speaker 5 (01:04:47):
Well, if you're just jumping on with us, or you
missed us a little bit earlier in the day. In
the show, we have some big news. We have a
new weekly fun thing that we're going to be doing
thanks to our friends at of over a City. So

Speaker 6 (01:05:54):
And if you have more than ten people in your office,
share draw straws.

Speaker 8 (01:05:59):
Share.

Speaker 6 (01:06:00):
Somebody's gonna be sol.

Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
And this, of course is all in thanks to our
friends at River City. So we'll be kicking that off
next week. So stay tuned. Pay attention. We're gonna have
some promos running so you can hear all of the
directions once again.

Speaker 6 (01:06:16):
It'll be fun, it'll be and we'll start once we
draw a winner. Then you have to reregister the next week. Yep.

Speaker 5 (01:06:24):
So let's stick with some food. So Starbucks. I am
not a Starbucks person. I'll be straight up about that.
I'm not a coffee drinker.

Speaker 6 (01:06:32):
So I'll do a Starbucks once and like, if I
do a Starbucks once every three months, that's probably that's
probably about it.

Speaker 5 (01:06:41):
There's people every single day I do.

Speaker 6 (01:06:43):
I do anywhere from three to six Starbucks a year.

Speaker 5 (01:06:46):
Yeah, yeah, that that's actually pretty good.

Speaker 6 (01:06:49):
Normally it's what I'm going through Target in their advertisement
and I'll say that sounds pretty good. I'm gonna go
ahead and try that.

Speaker 5 (01:06:55):
Well, here's something new you can try. They're jumping on
the Wicked, which, of course, Wicked the movie is coming out.
It was a Broadway musical. If you're not familiar, it
ties into the Wizard of Oz and it's the backstory
of the Witches, the good and the Bad and the
Wizard of Oz. So anyways, they're jumping on the bandwagon
because they're going to have two new offerings that include

(01:07:16):
Glinda's Pink Potion and Alpha Buz's Green Elixir. Those are
the names of the Good Witch and the Bad Witch
the Wicked Witch. So the Pink Potion is reported to
be a mango dragon fruit refresher and alphab Alpha buzz
Green Elixir is a cold bruise sweetened with peppermint syrup
and topped with macha foam. So the movie will be

(01:07:39):
opening in November. So something new at Starbucks.

Speaker 6 (01:07:41):
Two drinks. I will not be trying. No, I'm not
a mango guy.

Speaker 5 (01:07:45):
I'm not a macha guy guy woman.

Speaker 6 (01:07:48):
Mango, Like one piece of mango goes a long way.

Speaker 5 (01:07:54):
It's been a while since I've had mango.

Speaker 6 (01:07:56):
Just it's one of those things that I can be,
isn't It's It's not that it's it's bad, but it's
just like, once I have one piece of it, it's playing.
I don't I don't need anymore.

Speaker 5 (01:08:04):
Yeah, Yeah, it's real strong. Tim Horton's Halloween It's coming
here sooner than later. They have spooky, spooky goodies that
have arrived for a limited time. They're having chocolate peanut
butter iced cap with Reese's cappuccino. I'm guessing iced cappuccino again.

(01:08:24):
I'm not a coffee drinker. Dream Cookies made with Reeses
and Pecans, Dream Cookies made with M and M's Minis milk,
chocolate candies, and tim tim Bits trick or treat buckets.
Buckets include thirty one tim bits, one for every day
of October. So these are happening, available nationwide.

Speaker 6 (01:08:43):
I could try the chocolate peanut butter ice cap.

Speaker 5 (01:08:46):
I figured I saw you, I saw like your eyebrows
grow up when I said that, Like, like.

Speaker 6 (01:08:51):
Reese's is my go toe. Reese Cups pieces take five.
It doesn't matter if it's Reese's, it's got the name
is on it. I'm willing to try it.

Speaker 5 (01:09:02):
Reese Cups right on the brink of being frozen.

Speaker 6 (01:09:06):
Oh they're frozen all the way.

Speaker 5 (01:09:08):
No, right on the brink. It's just about perfect. And
then as a kid, you probably remember these the boo buckets.
You don't remember the boot buckets back at McDonald's. They're
coming back this Halloween season and let's see here. The
chain announced this week that the Spooky Happy Meals will
return mid October. They unveiled new bucket designs featuring new

(01:09:28):
monster designs. They come in white, orange, green, and blue.

Speaker 6 (01:09:32):
What do you use the buckets for trigger treating? Yeah, okay,
that's what I figured.

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
I mean they're not big enough though, if you're that kid, No,
they're not big enough.

Speaker 6 (01:09:40):
I like the kids that come to your house with
a pillow case.

Speaker 5 (01:09:42):
Oh yeah, they're the veterans. They know what they're doing.
They absolutely know what they're doing.

Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
I know.

Speaker 6 (01:09:46):
I like the kids that had the pillow case and
the pillow cases as big as they are. That's what
I like.

Speaker 5 (01:09:51):
And then they drag it.

Speaker 6 (01:09:52):
Yeah, they drag it on the ground. Mom's pushing the
baby in the cart. You're like, can you give the baby?
And then diabetes if I'm gonna give you this candy?

Speaker 5 (01:10:02):
Nice? The parents always go through it first, they pick
out the good stuff and then Wendy's. They're celebrating SpongeBob
with the Krabby Patty kalab Burger.

Speaker 6 (01:10:13):
Nice. Is that how you say collab? Collab?

Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
Yeah, they're celebrating twenty five years of the iconic Nickelodeon
show with the Krabby Patty Burger and a Pineapple under
the Sea Frosty.

Speaker 6 (01:10:25):
Interesting interest. I would like to try that.

Speaker 5 (01:10:27):
So the Krabby Patty is made with frozen beef, fresh
fresh never frozen beef, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle,
Secret Krabby sauce on a toasted premium button.

Speaker 6 (01:10:38):
There you That sounds awful familiar. Sounds like a two
all beef patty special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on
a sesame seed bunge.

Speaker 5 (01:10:46):
Yes, sounds like a familiar jingle. Oh goodness, Hey happy,
I didn't say that, No you didn't. Happy Friday. Have
a great, beautiful weekend. I plan on it. Plenty of
football ogle Beefest. There's plenty happening around. And go get
yourself some good pottery up at Ogleby Fust catch John
