Speaker 1 (00:11):
Ay thirty six. Jumping back into this the bloom Ditty
experienced salmon Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. Before the break,
I mentioned the trash situation happening in Belmont County, what
I have been dealing with, what others have been dealing with.
I just wanted to kind of a couple other points
I wanted to hitt on this. First of all, if

(00:31):
they are having a staffing issue with Kimball kind of
that's one of my biggest questions. Is that part of
the issue. Because the mail makes at ups FedEx, they're
all making it to us, so that's a big question.
The other thing I wanted to point out is I
pay eighty bucks roughly eighty dollars every three months. So

(00:56):
that's not a huge amount of money, but it's not
a small amount of money. So again, if we are
expecting services and you bill us ahead of time for
the upcoming three months for the services you're expected to provide,
and we've already paid for them because we pay ahead
of time and we're not receiving the services the next
time around, we deserve a credit on our account, period,

(01:21):
plain and simple. Now, another thing happening and I wanted
to bring this up. If you saw the picture I
posted this morning, got a package in the mail, another package,
didn't have anything coming, nothing at all. But otis, look
at this time around. I know this is not going
to it's coach.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
I have no idea what that means.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Okay, that's what I figured. But this is coach is
a It just looks.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Like a little purse bag.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
It's a little purse bag. But the fact that it
is quote unquote and quotation Mark's coach. It's a little
fancier than the cheap plastic pearl earrings. Now, this once
again is another one of these things that I did
not order. And you can see here otis there's the

(02:10):
little QR code. Okay, so this is the scam that
we talked about last week, where you're receiving these packages
that you did not purchase and people are falling. It says,
look after your coach product today and tomorrow with our
unique coach care services to find out more. Scan the

(02:31):
QR code. That's then how they're getting your information and
pulling this scam over on you. So I will say
this to those that are doing this scam, You're you're
stepping up in the game with a little bit better,
better product. I don't think I'll pitch this one, use
this for this. This will come in handed.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Free and it's free. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
The bottom line is worst case scenario. If it's really
not coaching, it falls apart in here.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
It was free of it, yep, yep. So to them,
you know, stepping up the game. But things are happening
also when it comes to scamming.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
You let me know when they send you a car
a car.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, okay, Amazon gift card would be nice. But it's
also affecting people in Ohio County. Now there's a different
type of scam happening for residents in Ohio County. They've
been targeted by multiple scams recently now, according to the
Sheriff's Department, scammers have been calling residents about fake arrest warrens,

(03:30):
failure to submit a DNA sample that's a new one,
and failure to appear for jury duty. Now that we've
had that one in Belmont County too. Authorities say victims
are told they will be arrested if they don't hand
over any cash. Anyone that's been victimized should file a
police report emediately, so This is happening everywhere, folks, So folks,

(03:55):
please be diligent and pay attention. Now here is one
and otis. I didn't tell you about this, but I've
been getting emails. This is one of them, and I'm
just I'm not going to read the whole thing. Just
a little bit, says my name. I suggest you read

(04:17):
this message carefully. This was an attached pdf. Take a
moment to chill, breathe, and analyze it thoroughly, because we're
about to discuss a deal between you and me, and
I ain't playing games. You don't know me, However, I
know you, and you must be thinking how correct. I

(04:38):
very well know that calling there's a phone number, or
knocking there's an address would be a follow up step
to have a word with you. If you don't act
so basically threatening to come to my home. Don't try
to escape from this. I know where your family lives,
and you have no idea what I'm capable of capable

(05:00):
of doing. You've been careless lately, clicking through girly videos
and venturing into the darker corners of cyber space, and
then it goes on from there. Well, I can one
hundred percent assure you that I have not been in
the darker corners of cyberspace when I first received this one,

(05:26):
as I've received two or three since. It does make
you stop and go, huh, you know, like what is this?
Where is this coming from? So this is going to
be turned over to officials. But I just wanted to
bring to people's attention that this kind of stuff is happening.

(05:48):
And when you have basically threats of I know where
you live, and you know you don't know what I'm
capable of, you do stop and you do worry, and
it does freak you out. And of course it goes
on and it's it's saying that you know, send money
to such and such venmo or bitcoin, yeah, bitcoin account.

(06:10):
Pay attention. I'm telling you straight. You got to make
a deal. I want you to know. I'm coming at
you with good intentions, but I am a man of
my word. That's dirty, I mean.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
So it was a file that you had to open.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
No, no, I explained that improperly it was it It's
a letter, but it was in the body of the email,
but you could still see the page. Does that make sense.
It wasn't an attachment. It was like, yes, there you
go yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
So I don't.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
I mean, like like, if I even see just the
subject line, I just hit delete, delete, delete.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Delete, I'll see there wasn't it's yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
If I don't know the sender, I just hit the I.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Got you, I got you. So yeah. When we talk
about scams and we mentioned them, you know, there's so
many different ways, and there's so many things going on
out there, and like I said, you know, to receive
that type of letter in an email and then to

(07:19):
have something like this coach bag come and you know,
the weird phone like, it makes you wonder for me. Anyways,
First of all, who cares about little old me? You
can ask me for five thousand dollars in bitcoin, or
you can ask me for two thousand dollars and to

(07:40):
venmo to you or whatever. Yeah. No, first of all,
I don't have bitcoin. Second of all, I don't have Venmo.
Third of all, I don't have five thousand dollars laying
around to send anybody. But again, it makes you wonder, why,
why me? What list am I on that you're doing this?

(08:01):
Because the accusations in that letter about like I said,
going in the dark corners of cyberspace or looking at
girly videos. Hand to god, that's not me not doing that,
so immediately you know it's a scam. And plus I'm
about as technology savvy. Okay, my five year old niece

(08:24):
is more technologically savvy than I am, So trust me,
I have not gotten onto the dark web or found
myself in places that I shouldn't be because I'm really
glad I can get on Google and do the basics
that I need to do. So if you get things
like this, do what otis does, and if you don't
recognize it, just delete it and block it if you can,

(08:46):
and report it. Report it as fishing to whoever your
provider is, because it's not worth it. Don't scan anything
that you do not recognize, do not put anything on
your phone, do not open a text that you do
not recognize. It is not worth it at all at all.

(09:09):
But the highlight of the day I get to go
home with a coach bag in parentheses that'll fit in
my purse or otis you need it for anything?

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I'm good you sure? Yep?

Speaker 1 (09:24):
It would match the new jeep.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
No it wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Oh, let's go to a break. How about that? Eight
forty five coming up. Let's talk some Netflix. You're gonna
pay the higher prices. News Radio eleven seventy The bloom
Daddy Experience Here, Sam and Otis, you're back eight point

(09:57):
fifty here on the bloom Daddy Experience. Otis and Sam
with you here on Who's Radio eleven seventy WWVA. A
couple messages we got on social otis from Shelley. She said,
it's not just Belmont County who is not getting their
trash picked up. It's happening in Guernsey County as well.
So just a little update there that it is not

(10:17):
just Belmont County. It seems to be happening other places. Also,
Eliza says, I really appreciate you covering this. We switched
the trash for me was minor compared to their inability
to communicate in poor customer service. They did issue a
half hearted apology, but I felt it was more to
make us feel sorry for them. That being said, the

(10:38):
person I spoke to when I canceled my service was excellent.
So well, okay, you know, parting ways on you know,
good terms, but I wanted to put this out here. Listen,
if you're dealing with something like this, this is what
we do. We want to bring it to people's attention
and hopefully help people out. All you have to do
is email me sam at iHeartMedia dot com. Otis and
I both received the emails and we can get into

(11:00):
information for you, dig into some things and bring it
to light again. Just email us sam at iHeartMedia dot com.
We brought you the Sunny Boys story yesterday, Otis, you
had that. We have the Kimball today. So that is
what we are here for again, sam at iHeartMedia dot com.
We will do what we can. We will do what
we can. One thing we can do and I'll be

(11:20):
doing this tomorrow is delivering free lunch thanks to our
friends at River City. Tomorrow we're gonna I'm gonna be
visiting Shane at Westlake. But if you want to register
again the email sam at iHeartMedia dot com. We just
need your name, phone number, and company and then we
draw every Wednesday and we deliver on Friday, so we

(11:43):
want to hear. We want to get your registrations again.
That's every week and it's a good lunch. It's a
really really good lunch, so take advantage of it. Speaking
of food, here's something for some red velvet fans. And
it's perfect timing with you know what's coming up next
month otis Valentine's Day. The Red Velvet Cake Blizzard is

(12:05):
coming to d Q. It will be the blizzard of
the month in the month of February. The blizzard is
made with vanilla ice cream, red velvet cake pieces, and
cream cheese icing. While this street has been spotted already
at some locations, it will be available nation wide starting
next week. And that goes right along with your kicking

(12:27):
off the new year saving on calories, right, yeah it does. Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly.
And then here's this for McDonald's for a limited time,
they're bringing back happy meals with Pokemon. I didn't even
know Pokemon was still a thing, is it? Oh? Okay,

(12:50):
you can choose between four boxes while the supplies last. Okay,
pikachuw Dragon Night. Okay, here we go, Shira are charge
are in Rickquasa And you call me the nerd?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Well, the only reason I know these like I would
have never known it, but I have a friend that
collects Pokemon cards and he was talking and actually my
son does too, so that's the only reason I know.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Care.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
And then Roaring Moon. Each box includes a TCG booster pack,
a poster and a sticker sheet available at participating locations.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
I think the charge yard is a big what everybody
chases after. Oh so, I have no idea. I don't
know anything about Pokemon or Pokemon cards other than what
my friends tell me. Sure, I've never owned a Pokemon
card in my life and I still don't and I
never probably will.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
That's probably a good thing.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
I mean, I've got some I've got some baseball cards coming.
I have some being delivered today, and I have some
being delivered tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
So I mean, I.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Hate to say it, but you and this whole the
whole baseball card thing, we talk about it a lot
off the air, and there was a time where you
let me click on the.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
The migrating Yeah. I sent some cards in the gig.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
The results, Yeah, the results, And it was kind of
like opening the envelope an awards ceremony on Christmas. Yeah.
I can see where you get get into it and
get hooked because I was.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
The higher the grade, the you know, the more valuable
the card, right allegedly, right, you know, so, But I mean.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
It was fun to watch your face.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
You're obviously shooting for tens. But when and then when
you send a card in and it comes back in
eight and you're disappointed, you know, you know, it's like
somebody just shot your dog.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
But speaking of cards, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
There was a big you know, the big thing Tops
Chrome Update twenty four came out a couple of months ago,
and one of the biggest cards that was out.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
There is this the Pirate Guy.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
Yeah that there there were two cards.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
There was a one of one autograph Paul schemes, and
then there was the one of one autograph debut patch.
So basically it's the patch from his uniform when he
made his debut, so his pitching debut. So that card
got found in La by an eleven year old kid.
That's a life changing card right there, because the Pirates

(15:10):
are offering thirty years a season, tickets behind home plate,
whole packet they're doing. You know, you get a softball
game with thirty of your friends with the Pirate alumni.
I mean, there's there's so many things that are going
on there. And in fact, Livy Dunn even said you
can sit in her suite for a game, which that
right there, you can have the card for.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
That, do they give you money for it through the
value or just all this freestock.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
So this kid's in LA. What's he going to do
with thirty years a season tickets in Pittsburgh? So unless
his parents move, which listen, you've got the Dodgers and
the Angels in LA, and you've got the Pirates. I'm
sticking with the Dodgers and the Angels. Okay, but if
this there's two things. I mean, this kid can hold
on to it, and if Paul Skiings blows his arm

(15:59):
out next year and never pitches again, the cards basically worthless.
It's gonna you know what I mean, it's gonna drop
so much in value it's gonna be ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
So he they couldn't hold parents couldn't hold on it.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
They could for they could you take that risk?

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (16:12):
You see?

Speaker 3 (16:12):
I mean, like you look at a guy like Wander
Franca who came up with the Tampa Bay Race. He
was the hottest guy going, and then he sleeps with
an underage kid. So he's out of baseball altogether, you know.
So I mean, but his card was the hottest card
going for a while.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
I thought you're gonna say, blew his knee out.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Not that I mean no, I mean like he's like
they're tracking.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
He might be in jail. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
I haven't followed the story, but I mean, which he
should be. But you know, I mean, that's how fast
things can change, and so what he what if I'm
in this eleven year old kid, I take it and
I put it on an auction site, or get somebody
to auction it off. Take the one hundred thousand, two
hundred thousand whatever it's gonna bring in and bank it,
bank it, and then you you're set. Yeah, I mean

(16:53):
you're not necessarily set for life, but if you invest
it wisely, it's it's it's a good start at eleven
years old.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Yeah, Or or for the parents to look at it
and say, okay, interest in everything else, there's there's tuition.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Well, no, when you invested, you invested in stocks, you
invested in CDs, you invested in all kinds of things
that's gonna yield high interest.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Well I didn't find a valuable card. You didn't find
a valuable card, So I guess we'll be back tomorrow.
Well yeah, okay, I guess it's not worth that not
to pay the bills. So I guess we'll be back
tomorrow so we can continue paying our bills.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
We'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Hey, we're out of here. Everybody, have a great Thursday.
We'll catch you tomorrow morning.
