Speaker 1 (00:00):
Indeed number one talk show in the Ohio Valley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His
goal inform, entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news radio eleven seventy.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
WWVA starts now.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
The bloom Daddy Experience. It's seven oh six on news
radio eleven seventy. You know, I talked two things, Browns
and politics, and I'm talking politics. I'm talking with Jim
or Nacy, former Congressman, bloom Daddy Show political analyst. All Right,
Jim Trump's approval rating thirty six percent. That's a new
second term low. As a matter of fact, I believe

(00:42):
it's the lowest in Republican history for a second term
president this side of Richard Nixon. His disapproval rating has improved,
that's not good news to sixty percent. And this is
after three months of stability. Even Republicans and independent their
ratings of Trump have worsened significantly since last month. Can

(01:06):
this all be blamed on the government shutdown or is
there something else going on here?

Speaker 4 (01:11):
Well, boom Daddy again, thanks for having me, and look
the president's troubles and his downward disapproval rating is really
comes down to one or two things, and it's not
the shutdown, although I do think the shutdown has some
you know, does cause some issues, but not much. It's

(01:31):
really economy and affordability. You know, he doesn't want to
believe the numbers, but the economy and the affordability is
just not good for most Americans. And I think the
biggest issue. And I was talking to a friend of
mine today, if you're wealthy, the economy and affordability doesn't
hurt you, And if you're poor, the economy and affordability
doesn't hurt you because you get government subsidies. It's all

(01:55):
the people in the middle that are having trouble buying groceries,
that are having trouble making ends meet, that are having
trouble paying their bills. And this president did say that
if elected, he would fix that problem, and he hasn't,
and that's really become a big issue. The government shutdown
kind of added to it. And I also think when

(02:16):
you really start to dig the policy controversies are just
causing some public fatigue as well. But it really comes
down to economy and affordability.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
It's kind of ironic you say that because I talked
to my twenty seven year old son just the other
night about this very topic, and he said, you know,
I don't care about anything else other than how am
I going to survive?

Speaker 2 (02:40):
How am I going to afford a house?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
And he said, the only thing and he voted for Trump,
he's a conservative, He said, the only thing this guy's
done for me and others my age is proposed a
fifty year mortgage.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
And he said, the hell with that? That was his response.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Yeah, And the sad thing is I don't think I
don't think Trump has recognized it. And for him to
turn this thing around, he's going to have to recognize
that there are people struggling every day. Twenty five percent
of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Sixty percent of
Americans have less than a thousand dollars in a bank account.
These are the individuals that are struggling every day, that

(03:18):
are not able to live in the Trump economy. And
quite frankly, we are in the Trump economy. Now we
can talk about buying and we can talk about all
the problems that we are currently in the Trump economy.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
All Right.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
The cool thing about being in a click is you're
in the click you're with the cool kids. The bad
thing is you don't know you're out of the click
until you're out of the click. What I'm trying to
say is everybody is bonded with Trump. Nobody strays from
me because then you get the Marjorie.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Taylor Green treatment.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
But how long will it take for these numbers to
sit where they're sitting before you see people peeling off
from Donald Trump?

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Well, I think that's already started to happen. I think,
Marjorie to your Juan, I think you're seeing a lot
of Republicans that are starting to talk, but not talk publicly.
You know, boom daddy. It's amazing because I do a
lot of interviews and people say to me, well, you're
willing to criticize Trump. You realize that most Republicans aren't.
I say, well, it's the elected Republicans that aren't. If

(04:19):
you're not an elected Republican, you're going to basically talk
about what you're seeing, what you're hearing, and what people
are saying. If you're elected Republican, especially the House and
Senate members. Let's face a President Trump, it's one of
his problems. He's got to change this attack. I mean
there are six things he can do to fix his

(04:41):
way going forward. One is he's got to fix the economy.
He's got to admit there's issues, and he's got to
have a clear plan. But one of the other things
is he's got to stop attacking Republicans. He's got to
approve internal gop unity, and to do that, he's got
to accept some critic Now. I will say I served

(05:02):
under President Trump between twenty sixteen and twenty twenty. He
did accept criticism. I actually criticised him a few times,
criticized him a few times about tariffs, and he accepted it.
He doesn't accept that now, and that's one of the
biggest problems he has.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yeah, but at some point in time, he can't run
from these numbers. You could sit there and dismiss Poles,
and you could say Poles have been wrong before, and
they have. But when Poles are showing that Republicans are
even dissatisfied with what you're doing, he's got to read
the writing on the wall. He's a smart guy, you know,
and he's got to do the stuff that you're saying

(05:37):
he needs to do. I agree, But does he have
it in his DNA? You said he did before. Does
he have it at this point to do it again.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Well, that's what's interesting. You know, I was writing down
some things I thought he needs to do, and then
after I wrote him all down, I thought, he probably
won't do any of these because he, you know, the
focus on me. He doesn't want to admit that the economy,
that the prices are a problem, and the economy is
a problem. The not attacking Republicans. He's going to continue

(06:09):
to do that, avoid the chaos and fights on social media.
He's going to continue to do that, show consistent governance
and capability. He doesn't appear to want to do that.
Expand the base. He's got to start having some bipartisan wins.
He had that in twenty sixteen, twenty seven to twenty eight.
He's not doing that. And I tell you the one
thing he has to do, he really has to pivot

(06:32):
and become a president for all. And right now he's
a president for the Republican Party, and he calls the
other people names, which is so problematic. He just can't
win again. But here's the reason, bloom Daddy doesn't worry.
He's not running again. And I think that's the biggest difference.
Between President Trump won and President Trump's second term.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah, but he.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Should care about the party he's going to leave behind,
and if he leaves it behind in ashes, then what's
his legacy at the end of the day.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Well, I would agree. Hopefully at some point in time
he realizes that if he continues down this path, he's
most likely going to lose the House, a good chance
of losing the Senate, and then it's just going to
be complete chaos for another two years where they're going
to be impeaching him, They're going to be going after
everything that he's done, and it's it's going to be problematic.

(07:24):
I hope he sees that because right now, I don't
think I got to tell you. I remember President Trump
one he saw that. I'm not too sure President Trump too.
Second term president sees the same things he saw in
that term. One.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Well, if being compared to Richard Nixon doesn't open his eyes,
nothing's going to Jim appreciate the time.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Thank you, thank you, you have a great day.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
Good morning, folks, seven nineteen otis seven nineteen, on this Tuesday,
this white, wintry Tuesday morning. Uh, if you're just waking up,
take a gander outside get prepared. You might be driving

(08:17):
in a little bit snow this morning.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
I sure was. It was, it was. It was interesting.

Speaker 8 (08:24):
I was disappointed. You were disappointed, Yeah, because the plow
had gone down my street at some point in time
earlier today. Oh yeah, I just like I think I
wanted to be the first car on the fresh snow.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
I was.

Speaker 8 (08:37):
I was on your videotaped mine coming in.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
While you were driving. Oh yeah, we would not advocate
or suggest.

Speaker 7 (08:45):
Anybody else doing that. Wow, Oh you weren't holding it?

Speaker 1 (08:50):
I gotcha.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I was.

Speaker 8 (08:51):
I had to hold it from following back. Oh so yeah,
I kinda was, and I kind of wasn't.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
We will. We will end that by saying, do not
try this at home.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
F YI.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
So yeah, prepare, give yourself some extra time this morning.
Do not push it. It is not worth it. But no,
I was the person who was. I got to create
the first set of lines down down my road and
then down the other road.

Speaker 7 (09:17):
And yeah, I I.

Speaker 8 (09:19):
I got to Uh, the garbage truck was out when
I was up to.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
Oh really no, there was nobody until I hit the highway,
and I didn't want in the park.

Speaker 8 (09:28):
We're telling drive cautiously, but do not ride your brakes
and do not go like try to stay with the
flow of traffic, because if you were going so slow,
you were going to cause the problem.

Speaker 6 (09:42):
Yeah, it's that, it's that that balance.

Speaker 8 (09:46):
Yeah, if you're scared to drive in the snow, don't.

Speaker 7 (09:49):
Yeah, don't force it.

Speaker 6 (09:50):
If you if you don't have a reason or necessary
you know, to be somewhere, don't force it.

Speaker 8 (09:55):
It's I heard someone say last night, I do not
drive in the snow, and I'm like, you have to.
I mean, you can't be that scared. It's just snow.
You need to be scared of ice, is what you
right scared of.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
I would rather drive in the snow than in a rainstorm.
I hate driving in a downpour of rain.

Speaker 7 (10:16):
I hate it.

Speaker 6 (10:16):
I'm always I always feel like I'm going to hydroplane
real bad and then you can't see in the whole thing. Yeah,
I would rather drive in the snow any day than
I would a torrential rainstorm. So yeah, just take your
time this morning. Be cautious.

Speaker 7 (10:33):
Now. According to.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
Our meteorologist or our friend Jeff x Line, it is
supposed to taper off through through mid morning, right, that's
what he said. It's supposed to eventually start to.

Speaker 9 (10:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
Yeah, so by the time we are done, it should
be done this morning the snow, so yeah, take your time,
be cautious. There's no point in rushing it. Coming up
this morning, we're gonna have we got some goodies, we
got some new stuff today. We of course have two
more pairs of tickets to see Chevy Chase.

Speaker 8 (11:08):
Well we have one pair leftover from yesterday.

Speaker 6 (11:10):
Oh yeah, yeah, our apologies, so we have that from
yesterday that comes into today, so we have two sets
of those. That show is next Tuesday. You get to see,
of course the movie first. Of course, the movie is
Christmas Vacation, and then a Q and A with Chevy
Chase himself afterwards. But then we also have this morning

(11:30):
two four packs to the Friday Nailer's.

Speaker 8 (11:34):
Game, so Frosty Friday, Frosty.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
Friday, so we have two chances for you to win
those this morning, and the.

Speaker 8 (11:42):
Nailers are at home all weekend against the Greensboro Gargoyles.

Speaker 7 (11:46):
Love that name, love that name.

Speaker 8 (11:48):
So they have Frosty Friday on Friday, they have Wizards
and One's Night on Saturday. I'll just leave it at that,
and then on Sunday, they have Sensory Day.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
Sensory Day.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
I'm not one sure. I think maybe there's not as much.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Loud yeah music.

Speaker 6 (12:06):
Or welcoming to Yeah, okay, gotcha. Wizard of Wands and
Wands of Courses in reference to Harry Potter correct.

Speaker 8 (12:14):
That that that genre not necessarily.

Speaker 7 (12:17):
Just your favorite genre. You're all into the sci fi
fantasy and end wizards and ones dragons. Come on, that's
right up your alley.

Speaker 8 (12:29):
You're the game of thre engine nerd.

Speaker 7 (12:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (12:31):
Yeah, speaking of just real quick back to the Nailers.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
Did you see this?

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (12:36):
The uh Jake Smith has been named the e c
HL Goaltender of the Month.

Speaker 8 (12:42):
I did not.

Speaker 6 (12:43):
Yeah, the Nailer's very own Jake Smith the goaltender of
the month, So congrats to him. But yes, we're gonna
have two chances for you to win this morning, a
four pack to see the Nailers this Friday for Frosty Friday,
so we have those coming up. Does anybody else maybe
it's just me, did anybody else feel like yesterday was

(13:08):
one of the what are you laughing at?

Speaker 8 (13:13):
What happened?

Speaker 7 (13:15):
You're looking at something on Facebook?

Speaker 6 (13:18):
Okay, but yesterday felt like the longest Monday in a
long time. It almost felt like I had a hangover.
I don't know if that had to do with having
such a long you know, you know time off, the
holiday came to an end. I don't know what it was.

(13:40):
Excuse me, but it just yesterday just went on and
on and on.

Speaker 7 (13:47):
And I could have I could have killed somebody yesterday, not.

Speaker 6 (13:55):
Legitimately, but when has and this was kind of like
the icing on the cake with my day yesterday?

Speaker 7 (14:06):
Where has customer service gone?

Speaker 6 (14:10):
Where it used to be when you were the customer
or you were the patient, If you were pleasant and
you were polite and you smiled, you got that in return. Yesterday,
we had a situation with a pharmacy in Saint Clairsville,
a national chain pharmacy located on National Road by the mall.

(14:34):
I'm not going to say the name in the mall area.
I will say it has been an ongoing issue. I'm
talking like a year and a half, two years issue.
It's always a pain and you know what dealing with
this pharmacy. My husband went back in there yesterday to

(14:55):
deal with something. He said, he was nice, he was polite,
trying to get whatever. Where the problem is there's some
sort of communication are somewhere, and he said, I was so.

Speaker 7 (15:05):
Nice, so nice. This person was not so nice.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
So I got home and I said, okay, I'm getting
on the phone and I was not so nice.

Speaker 7 (15:18):
I was a.

Speaker 6 (15:20):
Witch, if you will replace the first letter. And I've
come to realize on the past couple occasions where there
has had to I have had to be confrontational or
bring up a problem or an issue, being nice doesn't
work anymore. I don't know why, but it's like the

(15:48):
angrier you are, the more.

Speaker 7 (15:52):
You can get accomplished.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
We've gotten to that point in this day and age
where you have.

Speaker 10 (15:57):
To be.

Speaker 7 (15:59):
Almost rude to get your point across.

Speaker 6 (16:04):
And it's it's infuriating, it's so frustrating sometimes so frustrating,
but it's an ongoing drama. But yeah, customer service not
what it used to be, not at all what it
used to be. But again, that was just the cherry
on top of what was the longest Monday I have
had in a long time. But we're gonna kick off
today with some fun because we've already got your first

(16:24):
chance to win this morning already.

Speaker 7 (16:26):
We're gonna kick.

Speaker 6 (16:26):
It off early, folks, because today is gonna be better
than yesterday. So we have up first, we have your
first chance to win a four pack to see the
nailers this Friday. It's frost Day, Frost Day, It's frosty
Friday for the nailers as they are taking on I
remember it's the Gargoyles.

Speaker 7 (16:44):
Who's the What's Greensboro?

Speaker 6 (16:45):
Yeah, yeah, sorry, I knew it was Gargoyles, the Greensboro Gargoyles.
So we have your chance to win a family four
pack to that right now, right now, what number you
want to do? Otis I put you on the spot. Sorry,
one hundred six two four eleven seventy. Let's do caller

(17:06):
number fifteen. One hundred six two four eleven seventy, caller
number fifteen. In coming up, we're gonna have a conversation
about Fuzzy Zeller with somebody that knew him personally. It's
gonna be a fun conversation. Seven twenty eight on your
wintry Tuesday morning, The Blue Daddy Experience Sam and Otis
News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. We are back at seven

(17:38):
thirty six the One Daddy Experience here on news Radio
eleven seventy WWVA joining us now via the phone. Of course,
our uh our our collector expert. We need a title
for him. Please welcome Jeremy Posey to the show.

Speaker 7 (17:55):
Good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 10 (17:57):
And I'm sure there are several people that could give
me titles. I'm not sure that they radio queens.

Speaker 8 (18:05):
I know a few of those people. I think, Hey,
you know, it seems like every time we have you
on POS, you're you're we're talking about somebody that's passed away.
And of course this past weekend on you know, kind
of under the radar, I didn't really see it until Monday,
to be honest with you, but PGA golfer and Master Champion,

(18:26):
US Open champion Fuzzy Zeller passed away over the weekend
at the age of seventy four. But you had some
you had some run ins. Was Fuzzy along the way?

Speaker 10 (18:35):
Oh yeah, I mean he so Fuzzy was one of
these guys. You know, he loved the game. He was
so naturally talented. What strikes me the most is the
greatest comparison is whenever John Daily this week for at
least a saban saying that he lost the father figure.

(18:56):
And he did, because if you knew Fuzzy and you know, John,
like I do, they are synonymous. They just get up
there and they swing. They barely practice. They like to drink,
they like to carry the red pen and sign autographs,
and those two they're just a different aspect of the game.

(19:18):
Because if you figure, you know, the four or five
years that I traveled that tour, very rarely did you
see the guys come back down to the bar or
come hang out in the lobby and just being normal.
Most of them were stiffs. They were I mean not
that that's a bad thing. I mean they made a
very good living out of being that way. But so

(19:40):
didn't Fuzzy and so didn't John. And I truly believe
that those two guys enjoyed the game and enjoyed their
profession more than anybody.

Speaker 8 (19:50):
Well do you think Fuzzy was one of those guys
that just said, you know, you have Hey, I'm out
here playing the game. It's it's it's you know, I'm
getting paid to play goldf Yeah.

Speaker 10 (20:03):
And the thing with fuzz was, you know, we would
go to some of these tournaments out in the middle
of nowhere. I remember one time we were out at
the John Deere class to get TPC Deer Run and
it is in the middle of nowhere. When we were
driving there, and I'm pretty sure it's in Iowa or
right on the border of Iowa. It's really close in

(20:23):
Illinois and Iowa. And when we were driving there was
nothing but cornfields. I'm like, my god, who is going
to be at this golf tournament that I really care about?
And Fuzzy Dollars was the headliner. He just it's almost like,
but he's from Indiana, so you know Indiana red that
he That's why I always carry the red sharp e

(20:45):
fy And he was there and he loved it. He
he just loved going anywhere and playing and great with
the fans. Would would stop in the middle of anything
to crack a joke or steal someone's beer out of
their hand. And he was that guy. He was like
the hot rock Huddling of golf.

Speaker 8 (21:03):
Okay, so he had he had a sense of humor
and didn't take it as seriously as some of these
other guys do.

Speaker 10 (21:11):
No, he was definitely not PC. Obviously he got his
trouble in trouble for that as the masters, right, but
you know, I just really hope that that doesn't define
who he was because that was a slip up. Whatever
he what he said about Tiger to ninety seven Masters,

(21:32):
that's it's not out of character for him, but his
intentions were completely different. And if you knew him, you
would say, yeah, that's just Fuzzy being fuzzy.

Speaker 8 (21:42):
Well, we're speaking with Jeremy Posey. Uh you know you
do you want autographs and personal you know, things like
that Jersey signed, Jersey signed, golf flags, golf you know everything,
you have bowling pins from from our man. You know,
you have all kinds of things. But what he said,
what Fuzzy said in ninety seven, It was during the
ninety seven Masters, and he was asked about Tiger Woods

(22:05):
what he was going to serve at the Champions dinner,
and he said, tell him not to serve fried chicken
next year, or collar greens or whatever they serve. And
they were condemned as racist. And I guess it haunted him.
It says it haunted him for the rest of his life,
maybe career wise, maybe not personally, but it kind of
hurt his career, did.

Speaker 10 (22:24):
It not, Well, you know, by that time, Fuzzy had
already made his money, and it did probably haunt him. Personally.
But like I told you earlier on the on the
on the pre shows there, I think that it could
have easily been diffused, and it wasn't, and that really

(22:46):
hurt Fuzzy. But then eventually Tiger did come out and say, hey,
I know, he was just joking. It's not a big deal.
It should have just went on. Shouldn't have went on
that long, sure, because Fuzzy, Yeah, I remember, if you recall,
Fuzzy had a drink in his hands whatever, and I'm
thinking that makes it right. But Fuzzy was cracking a show,

(23:08):
and they knew that, the media knew that they could
always get something out of Fuzzy because he was that guy.
You know. They could have went around the room and
asked the same question to the other twenty golfers that
were there and it probably got the same textbook answer.
And then but if you went to Fuzzy, you got
from in colorful. Well they got there colorful and it
just went the wrong way.

Speaker 8 (23:29):
Well, and had he said it twenty years earlier, nobody
would have had it. And I probably exactly.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (23:34):
So, and I mean, you look at you, there's a
couple of factors that come in You're in the late nineties.
Fuzzies a little bit older at that point in time.
You know, you know, he comes from a different era
than what was playing golf at that time, So I mean,
you know, he can be very easily misconstrued. So now
let me ask you about this. Have you ever had
Fuzzies vodka? I have, okay, and I have.

Speaker 10 (23:59):
I bought it as I think a Christmas gift. Last
year they ran some sail on I thought I'd just
follow them on Facebook. And I'm sure now that we're
talking about I'll be seeing Fuzzy's vodka pop up everywhere. Yeah,
but he had a thing where you could send a friend,
you know, Fuzzy vodka and he would find the model,
et cetera. And but anyways, I ended up getting one,

(24:21):
bought one for you. You got to send one to
a friend or something to that effect, Okay, And yeah,
it's good, it's smooth.

Speaker 8 (24:26):
And then the brand also sponsored some indie Car series
cars and was Fuzzy into that or was that just
the buck of Brandon or whatever?

Speaker 10 (24:35):
You know that I'm not sure. That's probably just one
of their marketing schemes to get their name out there.
And you know, I mean if you hear Fuzzy, you know,
you could think of a million different things, and but
but you know, being that it was him, and he
had that very unique name and then his last name
starts with a Z. You throw all that in together
and yeah, I mean I can see where that's, you know,

(24:55):
a great marketing campaign and could throw it on NASCAR
and or Indy Car excuse me whatever that I mean
that was genius. Now, I mean him coming out of
the VODU was extremely appropriate if he knew the guy.

Speaker 8 (25:08):
What's one thing as we wrap this up, what's one
thing that you think that Fuzzy would want people to
know about him?

Speaker 10 (25:17):
All? He loved his fans, I mean he really did.
And he signed his autograph. I mean, I know anybody
can sign autographs, but he took it to a different level.
I mean, every autograph looked the same. He took his time.
He knew where to sign the Sports illustrated because it
was a dark cover. He signed it on the arm.
He knew that, you know, to sign the master's flags

(25:40):
if it was the year that he wanted or they
asked it was by himself. He knew to sign it
in the middle. And he really took his time with
the fans, and you know, he signed his mail until
the day he died. He was great. You could send
it to him. It might even take a little while,
but he was signing to send it back. So even
though he wasn't touring anymore and he wasn't in a
physical condition and to play golf, he still wanted to

(26:01):
communicate with the people he loved. And he was a
man of the people. He really was. He was he
was He was John Daily before John Daily.

Speaker 8 (26:10):
And you know, I mean I I always enjoyed watching
Fuzzy like you said he was. He was a guy
that just had equip or you know, he would always
say something funny or do something funny, and and and
and and get it going.

Speaker 10 (26:22):
I remember him playing in the Skins game and they
were very if you if you recall and the bringing
the Skins game back actually, but the Skin game was
something that they played on it was Thanksgiving and you know,
before golfers and uh, they were very hesitant to mike
him up because all the golfers would have mics on.

(26:44):
It was a It was a one of these games
where the guys just harassed each other and talked and
and then they played and played for a lot of money.
Sometimes in some cases they played with their own money
versus you know, the sponsored paying. And we're very president
about micing him up, but you know, you almost have

(27:05):
to because he's going to be the one that carries
the show.

Speaker 8 (27:07):
Sure, sure, he'd be like making up Charles Berkley. Yeah,
all right, Posey. Hey, I promise you we will have
you on one time before with without a celebrity passing away.

Speaker 10 (27:20):
I promise let's talk about somebody that's still living.

Speaker 8 (27:23):
Okay, I promise you we will do that. All right,
all right, my man, appreciate you joining us.

Speaker 10 (27:29):
Yeah, thanks, faith out there, we've got about three four
inches of snowe counting.

Speaker 8 (27:34):
Okay, well you're in Morgantown. We've got a couple up
here as well. So all right, my man, thanks so much.

Speaker 10 (27:39):
You gotta take care of have a good holiday.

Speaker 8 (27:41):
You too, all right, Jeremy Posey, he's I mean, he's
got some connections and he's got some great stories. Yeah,
but we have a pair of Chevy Chase tickets.

Speaker 7 (27:50):
And we're gonna connect you with them.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
A look at that.

Speaker 6 (27:57):
Eleven seventy for your chance to win a pair of
tickets to see ch Chase, of course, along with National
Lampoon's Christmas vacation next Tuesday one, eight hundred sixty two,
four eleven seventy. Let's do Caller number fourteen. Caller number
fourteen one eight hundred sixty two, four eleven seventy. It's
seven forty six. You're listening to the bloom Daddy Experience,

(28:18):
Sam and Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA seven fifty two.
Welcome back The bloom Daddy Experience, News Radio, eleven seventy WWVA.
I just want to throw this out there right now.

(28:39):
I want to give a huge, big shout out to
the Belmont County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. I shared the
picture on our Facebook page, uh Sheriff Zuzak standing on
an overpass, letting you know that Belmont County's under a
Level one due to the the of course, the snow

(29:00):
this morning. Take some time and go go check out
the pic.

Speaker 7 (29:04):
I listen.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
You gotta you've got to appreciate a sense of humor
when it comes to you know, I'm sure the Sheriff's
department is constantly dealing with stressful, you know, terrible situations.
You got to give him a shout out for making
light of things when they can. He's standing there Otis
with a.

Speaker 7 (29:28):
Mock t shirt.

Speaker 6 (29:29):
Image of Santa Claus, like a Santa Claus shirt, but
then it's wide open and he's mister buffman.

Speaker 7 (29:37):
And it it's.

Speaker 6 (29:39):
Just, I don't know, made me laugh, made me laugh
this morning, So go check it out on our Facebook page.
It's pretty it's pretty funny. That was a good conversation.
I obviously didn't pipe up a lot because I completely
up front what I know about golf. I've pretty much
learned from Happy Gilmour, so uh, not really a subject.

Speaker 7 (30:01):
Matter that I was real familiar with. But I got.

Speaker 6 (30:04):
To appreciate the nickname Fuzzy and a grown man walking
around with that. So thank you Jeremy Posey for of
course taking the time this morning to jump up and
jump up jump on a call with us to talk
about it.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
That was good.

Speaker 7 (30:17):
That was good.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
But yeah, Happy Gilmore is about my extent when it
comes to golf, my golf knowledge. I want to hit
on a couple local and some top stories here across
the state. West Virginia collected four hundred and forty three
million dollars in November nearly thirty million ahead of estimates.

(30:40):
Personal income tax collections are up twelve percent over last November,
and consumer sales tax is up eleven percent. The Revenue Secretary,
Eric Nelson said significant growth in the northern and Eastern
Panhandles is driving the increases. The state has collected two
point two billion dollars for the fiscal year, one hundred

(31:01):
and thirty million dollars ahead of estimates. So I guess
a little shout out there to the Northern Panhandle for
helping the state out grow their coffers. In West Virginia,
a Marshall County man is charged in the kidnapping of
a North Carolina girl who is He is waiving his
right to a speedy trial. Luke Henderson failed to appear

(31:25):
in magistrate court on Monday. The eleven year old victim
was found in October when the FBI tracked one of
her electronic devices to a Moundsville Walmart store. The victim
was reunited with her family shortly after.

Speaker 7 (31:41):
Traffic will not be.

Speaker 6 (31:42):
Allowed to cross the Washington Avenue Bridge starting today. It's
part of a major project to replace the structure, which
has deteriorated over the past few years. Detours are in
place to help drivers navigate around the closures. Work is
expected to continue into next fall. We brought this to
you yesterday along with the detours. Also, everyone in the

(32:07):
High Valley is under a winter weather advisory today. It
started at midnight as temperatures dipped down into the twenties
overnight and the wintry weather moved in.

Speaker 7 (32:19):
You're waking up to it, folks.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
Drivers should add a few extra minutes to their commute
because the roads will are slick and snow covered. So
but the advisory is expected to be lifted later this
afternoon and then today Happening and Wheeling. The city leaders
have a council meeting scheduled for this evening. Officials plan

(32:41):
to discuss a number of matters, including the traffic rule
on Chaplain Street and other propositions. You can view the
agenda online on the city Facebook page, or the meeting
will start at five point thirty if you would like
to attend. And I'm sure the closure of the homeless

(33:01):
encampment will probably more than likely come up at that meeting.
I'm not saying it will, but it is the hot
topic that everybody is talking about on social media. And
we talked about it yesterday, so I'm sure that will
come up tonight at the city council meeting. A little
bit of sports news for you. The Penguins took down

(33:22):
their in state rivals after earning a five to one
win over the Flyers in Philly. Sidney Crosby scored a
pair of goals for the Pens. Pittsburgh has won three
of its last four games and will visit the Tampa
Bay Lightning on Thursday. A little bit of not so
great news for Steeler fans. They're on the outside of

(33:44):
AFC playoff picture after suffering their second loss in a row.
The Steelers are ninth in the conference at six and
six due to a tiebreaker with the Chiefs. Pittsburgh hopes
to snap its skid when it visits the division leading
Ravens on Sunday, and the Ravens are also coming off
of a loss on Thanksgiving Night to the Bengals, So

(34:06):
both of those teams both coming off of the holiday
week losses, so we'll see how that plays out. They'll
both both be fighting for a win, and then the
Cleveland Browns will be without one of their defensive tackles
for the rest of the twenty five season. The team
announced yesterday that Malie Collins will miss the rest of
the year because of a quad injury. Colin suffered the

(34:29):
setback during the loss to the Niners. On Sunday. The
Browns host the Titans this Sunday. So a little bit
of sports news for you there and some local top
top headlines. It's seven fifty eight. You're listening to the
bloom Daddy Experience. Sam and otis here on news radio
eleven seventy WWVA.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
Indeed number one tuck show in the Ohio Valley. This
is no bloom Daddy experience. Your host bloom Daddy. His
goal in for entertain and tick people off. The bloom
Daddy Experience on news radio eleven SEVENTYWVA starts now.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
News Radio eleven seventy. It's the Blue Daddy Experience. Hey,
it's eight six.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Let's get this hour rolling a motive.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
We're always searching for it in cases of well, recently,
the shooting of two West Virginia National Guard members who
were deployed to the nation's capital still unclear. Federal authorities
accusing an Afghan national of ambushing troops and what they
said was a targeted attack. Now, these National Guard members
were part of a high visibility patrol near the White
House this past Wednesday. Suspect just came around the corner

(35:39):
and opened fire. He appears to have acted alone. The
suspect actually entered the US from Afghanistan in twenty twenty
one under a Biden era program. He was an interpreter
for US forces in Afghanistan. The tenor r Andy Sutton
is a law enforcement expert. Thirty year law enforcement vettering
ten years in New Jersey, twenty four years with the Vegas.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Metropolitan Police Department.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
Also the author of five books on law enforcement, including
these soon to be released, Rescuing nine to eleven, The
Fight for America's Safety. Randy, thanks for being on the show.
Thanks for all you're doing for the men and women
in blue.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
When you take a.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Look at what happened last Wednesday, I mean, what can
be done to seek out people have become radicalized or
for whatever reason, decide to do something as heinous as this.

Speaker 9 (36:22):
You know, this is the this is the age old question.
How do you prevent something from happening without having, you know,
the ability to in a free society, to have you know, widespread,
very intrusive surveillance, and that's that's the issue that we face.
You know, the information that's coming out now, and this

(36:42):
is coming out in drifts and drabs about this individual
was that he apparently was radicalized when he was living
here in the United States. That that that information was
just revealed to us. So now the investigation will take place.
Who was he involved with, what individuals gave him, you know,

(37:04):
maybe some spiritual guidance or had some knowledge about this,
because usually where we can circumvent these crimes and stop
them is when somebody has some bit of knowledge and
shares that with with law enforcement. And in this case,
that didn't happen, and rarely does something like this happen

(37:27):
in a vacuum. So the investigation is really going to
have to reveal what could have been done to prevent this,
if anything. And this is this is the the issues
that come up every time we have an attack like this.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Yeah, I want to get your thoughts on this ranny
because when I first saw this, when I first started
reading about it and watching everything, I'm thinking, this guy
drives all the way from the state of Washington to Washington,
d C. To do what he did. That is a
long way in a car by yourself for you to
think about what you're about to do and talk yourself
out of it.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
So I'm thinking, this guy's motivated.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
And look, I know what our government's done with with
people who've helped us in Afghanistan. A lot of promises made,
a lot of promises broken. I'm thinking, Okay, we got
this guy out, we promised to get family members out.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Maybe we didn't.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
They ended up getting killed by the Taliban after we left,
and this is retribution.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
That's the first thing that went through my mind.

Speaker 9 (38:19):
And you could very well be right now. You know,
with many of these attacks, the attacker dies in the
u during the during the attack. In this particular case,
this individual is alive.

Speaker 2 (38:32):
So that means that.

Speaker 9 (38:34):
The interrogation that takes place may answer a lot of
these questions. You know, the question will be is how
communicative is he? Does he want to get his story
out there? Because remember a lot of these these attackers,
that's part of their of their process is they want
people to know why they did what they did. So

(38:57):
it would be very interesting to see during the interview
process how cooperative he is or if you know, his
legal counsel tells him just just to you know, remain silent.
But it'll be very interesting to see what that what
that what that motivation might reveal itself to be.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Talking to law enforcement expert Lieutenant Randy Sutton, host of
a Cops Life podcast, also the founder of the Wounded
Blue that's a nationwide charitable organization whose mission is to
improve the lives of injured and disabled law enforcement officers.
So what's the answer, Randy is just hoping you're not
in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Is it more troops?

Speaker 3 (39:34):
What's the answer to what we're seeing when it comes
to mass shooters for whatever reason?

Speaker 9 (39:38):
Well, you know, I wish I had that answer. That
they're in a free society. We allow, you know, a
great deal of latitude to our citizens. We have we
have you know, gun laws that allow people to have
firearms and have access to them. We don't want a
society that is, you know, a surveillance society. We don't

(40:02):
want to be you know, videotape doing everything that we do.
And so as a result of that, you know, people
have a lot of freedom, and there are those who
are the predators in society that are a criminal predators,
b have have ideological you know, initiatives that are based

(40:24):
on either a extreme religious views or or other or
other you know, weird views, and they manifest themselves in
violent tactics. We have a we have a problem. We
can't we can't forecast it. There are there are those,
of course, you know, we have We have the alphabet
agencies that are uh, you know, pretty good at at

(40:47):
you know, doing the uh surveillance of of uh the
internet and and looks looks for keywords and internet searches
that that may bring some attention to these individuals. There's
a wide number of of informants that are out there
in the in the field as well, those that are uh,
you know, help because of of a desired help or

(41:10):
because there is a financial reward for them, and and
all of these things. Are are are working to try
and limit the number of assaults like this and and
and attacks like this, but we're never as a free society,
going to be able to halt them with any with
with any reality, if we look at it, we're not

(41:32):
going to be able to stop these attacks.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
A scary situation.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
And you know, Randy, what it what it proves is
that if you are in the wrong place at the
wrong time. You just better have some luck because in
a free society, as you pointed out, if somebody wants
to do something incredibly.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Evil, they have every opportunity to do it. That that's
the sad real Look, look you're right it is.

Speaker 9 (41:52):
And and look what just happened in Sockey, California with
these children being shot during this mass shooting. And and
now you know it's the reality here is that once
again another mass shooting takes place. We don't know the
we don't know the reason behind that, but it's my
information that this could be gang related. Now, when you're

(42:16):
talking about about the gang situation in Chicago and in
New York and in La these are this is a
this is an avenue that that can be preventable. But
there have been so many laws put into place and
policies put into place by liberal politicians and leaders that

(42:37):
have limited the scope of the ability to investigate crimes
from gangs because of the purported abuse by law enforcement.
And this is something that is deeply affected the effectiveness
of law enforcement in this regard.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
We got to quit worrying about political correctness. We got
to quit worrying about feelings that we just got to
start getting back to doing what needs to be done.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
Speaking before I let you go, you do a lot
for law enforcement.

Speaker 3 (43:03):
You got a charity auction of country music stars signed
guitars coming up.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
I believe it's next week or the week after. Kind
of give us some infol on this.

Speaker 9 (43:11):
Yes, yeah, I'm really excited about this. You know, the
Wounded Blue has helped more than sixteen thousand injured officers,
whether those injuries are physical or emotional and psychological. We're
saving lives, we're saving careers, and we can't do it without,
of course, the funds, and we're public. We're only funded
by the people that care about law enforcement. So we

(43:32):
have teamed with a whole bunch of amazing country stars
like Tanya Tucker, like Vince Gill, Mark Wills, Darryl Worley.
They've signed guitars for us. And now we have a
website Guitars four Cops as guitars the number four cops
dot com Guitars for Cops dot com and beginning Wednesday,

(43:57):
people can bid on these guitars and and they can
bid no matter where you are. You go on to
Guitars for Cops dot Com. Guitars for cops, Guitars for heroes,
Guitars for heroes.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
Okay, I want to mature.

Speaker 9 (44:11):
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, that's my my mistake yet. No
guitars for Heroes dot com and and bid on your
your your favorite country star. We're gonna be doing this
during Cowboy Christmas here in Las Vegas, which is a
which is a huge event here. But anybody in America
can help out. And if you just want to, if
you just want to donate to the Wounded Blue, believe me,

(44:32):
we would accept that. And in fact, we're doing a
nine to eleven campaign, nine dollars and we're asking people
to donate nine dollars and eleven cents a month to
the Wounded Blue. And uh, we're asking people to do
that on our on our website, the Wounded Blue dot org.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
All right, guitars for the number four Heroes dot com.
That's Guitars four Heroes dot com. And that's that's that's awesome.
Appreciate what you're doing. You do so much. Well, I'll
tell you what. We'll talk about it again next week,
just as a reminder for everybody.

Speaker 9 (45:00):
Okay, that's fantastic, much appreciated, Thank you so much.

Speaker 6 (45:07):
Welcome back eight twenty one on your Tuesday. I'm sorry
music was unexpected.

Speaker 7 (45:16):
Thank you, Otis.

Speaker 8 (45:18):
I'll figure we got Howard in here talking about Christmas shows.

Speaker 7 (45:20):
We do we do?

Speaker 6 (45:22):
Speaking of Howard, Howard Carnell from the Capitol Theater of course,
along with West Bank Arena.

Speaker 7 (45:28):
You recognize the voice joining us this morning.

Speaker 5 (45:30):
Yeah, good morning, thanks for having me. That's not quite
the song I thought I was gonna have to be.

Speaker 8 (45:36):
Honestly, I didn't even listen to it first, and it was
put in like last year or so.

Speaker 6 (45:40):
Well, I'm glad you made it to us this morning.

Speaker 5 (45:42):
Yeah it was. I didn't have any problems, no problem tho.
Hey good No, a lot of snow, but just took
my time the hill I drive. I've driven since I
was I'm gonna say it twelve thirteen. You know, my
parents would let me drive, so I'm used to it.
Whether it's drying honey or rainy or covered with snow.

(46:02):
Oh good, good, it's just a routine.

Speaker 6 (46:05):
Well, well, nothing can keep you from what's happening here
at the Capitol.

Speaker 5 (46:09):
That's right. Yeah. Let's hope the roads clear up come
Thursday because we're going to be busy here and at
the at the Arena as well on Thursday.

Speaker 10 (46:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (46:18):
So first off, Thursday here at the Capitol, we.

Speaker 5 (46:21):
Have who do we have Ann Wilson? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (46:26):
Not from Heart?

Speaker 5 (46:27):
Not from heart. You know, it's funny you say that,
otis That's that was my first experience with Ann Wilson.
She was on the uh. She was the opening act
for Zach Williams band a couple of years ago. And
as soon as I saw Ann Wilson, I was like, oh,
I'm going to usher that. I want to see it.
And then it turned out to be a N. E.

(46:47):
Wilson and it wasn't the An Wilson from Heart. But
then when I came and worked the show, Wow, wow,
she and her band are really good. Really, She's got
a guitarists that he played her set, and the guitarist
for Zach Williams wasn't here because his wife was delivering

(47:07):
a baby, so the guitarist Ran Wilson played their set
as well. Wow. He was amazing, so great music, Christian rock,
really good. So that's Thursday here at the Theater, and
you know the same night at West Banco Arena is
Symphony on Ice. Yeah, the symphony sort of trades locations

(47:29):
for a night and they're at the arena. They started
working on our ops. People started setting that up already yesterday.

Speaker 6 (47:37):
Well, and Symphony on Ice at the Holidays. It's it's
in Ohio Valley tradition.

Speaker 5 (47:43):
Yeah, it's so cool. I've worked at as an usher
a couple of times and really enjoy it. So, yeah,
that'll be Thursday's a busy night for us. Right, We've
got two really key things, one here at the Theater
with Ian Wilson and one down at the Arena with
Symphony on Ice.

Speaker 6 (47:58):
Well, because of course you and your staff and all
of your co workers, you take care of both complexes.
So I can't imagine keeping the schedules and the appropriate
amount of people at each venue. I mean, it's a
lot of working parts, it sure is.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
Yeah. Our executive director, Kelly Tucker, she does a great
job of getting things scheduled and our operations folks justin
Malarkey here and Scott Griffith at the Arena, they do
a great job. And you know, a lot goes into
the prep part of it. I'm really impressed with how
they methodically think out how we're going to do that,

(48:37):
what we're going to do when and sort of apply
into it because the setup seems, especially for symphony on ice,
to take longer. The interesting thing is, once symphony on
ice is over, we'll try to have the ice, the
full capacity ice in the hockey rank, ready to go

(48:58):
for the Nailers to have a morning skate next morning.

Speaker 7 (49:00):
It's a big weekend for the Nailers.

Speaker 5 (49:02):
Yeah, because they play at home Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and
every year I would look at it as an usher
and say, there's no way they're going to have this
ice ready the next day.

Speaker 6 (49:12):
The magic all happens overnight.

Speaker 7 (49:13):
Yeah, there, it is.

Speaker 5 (49:15):
As soon as a symphony on ice is over, they
start breaking it down and work all night and get
it ready so that if they want to do a
light morning skate they can before the game that night.

Speaker 6 (49:24):
Well, you throw out the Nailers there real quick. I
want to remind everybody coming up here very shortly, we're
gonna have another chance for you to win a pair
of Friday tickets to see the Nailer. Steah's just going
to throw that out there real quick.

Speaker 5 (49:34):
If you get a chance and you haven't been there,
go see them. They're really good.

Speaker 7 (49:37):
Yeah, they're really really good. So that's coming up from us.

Speaker 6 (49:41):
But so we have first of all, we have on Thursday, right, yeah,
and Wilson, followed by Friday, we've got country legend Sarah Evan.

Speaker 5 (49:51):
Yeah. Again as everyone listening and you as well. No,
I don't know country that well, but everybody seems to
know her and excited about her. She's got a Christmas
show here on Friday the fifth. What we're we've heard
is her daughter, Olivia Evans, may do a twenty to
thirty minute acoustic duo set. Oh nice leading into it.

(50:13):
So we're excited about that, and that's going to be her.
She's doing some select Christmas shows.

Speaker 6 (50:18):
We got the we got the opportunity to speak with her.
She was so nice, so nice, you know, normal A
lot of people, you know, you think, oh they're this,
they're that, They're just people too, and she was so
nice and down to earth.

Speaker 5 (50:29):
So had she played here before at the theater?

Speaker 7 (50:33):
Yes, yes, I can't remember when, but she has.

Speaker 5 (50:36):
It's very interesting how many of the talent that comes
through here remembers this place.

Speaker 6 (50:42):
Oh, this built, this facility, yes, you say, the Capitol
Theater and Wheeling. A very large majority of artists, especially
country artists. They know exactly where and what venue you're
talking about.

Speaker 5 (50:56):
Yeah, I'm really impressed, and so form Ann Wilson Thursdays,
Sarah Evans will be Christmas Music Friday, and then Saturday
the sixth, and you've had folks from this lineup here.
Also on Saturday the sixth, you have the gift and
that brings in a significant portion of the amazing local

(51:17):
talent to do Christmas music. You know, you've got Roger Horde,
Jamie Peck, Ron Retzer Trio, Dan Jones, Joeann Jones, on
and on, and their show.

Speaker 6 (51:28):
Just keeps growing, just keeps growing and growing.

Speaker 2 (51:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (51:30):
Yeah, and it's local talent.

Speaker 9 (51:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (51:33):
So Howard, thank you so much this morning.

Speaker 6 (51:35):
Hang out with us a little bit longer after the
break because we've got a couple other shows we need
to head on. Yeah sure, but right now we've got to.

Speaker 7 (51:41):
Do our nailors.

Speaker 6 (51:42):
Tickets one eight hundred sixty four eleven seventy one eight
hundred six two four eleven seventy This is for Friday's
game A four pack. Let's do Caller number sixteen. Caller
number sixteen one eight hundred six two four eleven seventy.

Speaker 7 (51:57):
It's eight twenty eight.

Speaker 6 (51:58):
You're listening to the Bloom the Experience News Radio eleven
seventy WWVA, Welcome back. It's eight point thirty six. Congratulations
to Jake, our recent winner for our last pair of

(52:20):
Nailer's tickets for Frosty Friday from Washington. Jake from Washington. Yes,
absolutely so those went fast. But we're not done yet.
We have another set, but it's not Nailer's. We have
a pair to see Chevy Chase next Tuesday here at
the Capitol. And guess what that ties in perfectly to
the conversation I've been having, of course hanging out with

(52:42):
us still Howard Carnell with the Capital Theater in West
Banko Arena. So we covered An Wilson, which, by the way,
you told me during the break that if you just
like and appreciate just beautiful music. You said, Ann Wilson
is musically a beautiful show.

Speaker 5 (53:02):
Yeah, they're fantastic. I mean, it's just unbelievable the talent.
And that's not to say that the other talent that
comes through here isn't talented. They were amazing. I was
really impressed, significantly better than I expected, not knowing them,
let's put it that way. And it's Christian rock. I
mean it melts. They do a great job of melting

(53:24):
the message of Christianity with rock and roll. It's really
sort of a unique kind of marriage. And they're really
really talented. I thought they were incredibly musically talented.

Speaker 7 (53:39):
And that's this Thursday.

Speaker 5 (53:40):
That's Thursday.

Speaker 6 (53:42):
Friday is Sarah Evans. We talked about Sarah. We had
a great interview with Sarah Evans. And then the gift
is Saturday. So listen, if you're busy Thursday, there's something
for you Friday. If you're busy Friday, there's something for
you Saturday. So first weekend, need you sound here at
the Capitol Theater is where you can kick off your hand.

Speaker 5 (54:03):
We really want to kick you off into the holiday spirit, right,
get into that mood so you'll hear some great music
leading into the holidays, and we try to do some
different holiday programming, and that sort of rolls in what
else can we do for sort of the holiday season
that's different, And that's right where Chevy Chase drops in. Right, everybody,

(54:24):
it seems is looks at some point in the month
of December, Christmas Vacation. So this year, instead of watching
it at home on the TV, you can come down
here on Tuesday the ninth, watch Christmas Vacation and then
have a little bit of a interaction with Chevy Chase.

(54:45):
You know, he'll do the a little bit of a talk,
you know, talk about the movie, et cetera, and then
some I would think some Q and A will roll
into that. We've we started doing that last year. At
Christmas we had I think his name was Ralphie Peter
Billingsley from Christmas Christmas Story. Yep, he was here and
did that. And then through the course of this year
we had Jeez, It's Star Trek, William Shatner, William Shatner, Yep,

(55:12):
William Shatner from Star Trek. Then we'd had John Cleees
from Monty Python in October. So it seems to be
pretty popular.

Speaker 6 (55:20):
Yeah, if you're a big fan of those types of
the movies that are showing, to actually get to hear
the behind the scenes stories from the stars, it gives
you a whole their perspective of the movie.

Speaker 5 (55:30):
Yeah, really neat, and so it'll be interesting to hear
from Chevy Chase how he kept a straight face that
much for the movie. I would have been laughing the
whole time. I would have had to shoot the scenes
one hundred times from me, not the laugh room.

Speaker 6 (55:44):
So I wonder if he'll take a tour to Medina, Ohio,
where there's a Christmas village. I can't think of what
it's called off the top of my head, but he's
a there's a guy up there who's a Christmas collector,
and he's got like cousin Eddie's r V with the
iconic you know line me he's got that. He's got
all kinds of stuff from Christmas vacations right up the road.

Speaker 5 (56:03):
So well, let's hope that guy comes and visits us
on the ninth. Yeah, that'll be great.

Speaker 6 (56:07):
He'll be able to I'm sorry to me interrupt you.

Speaker 7 (56:09):
One thing I want to ask you was when I
was talking.

Speaker 6 (56:12):
About Christmas vacation a couple of weeks ago, not that
long ago, with somebody, and I said, you know, you
get to watch the movie at the Capitol and then
he'll be there. When they said, well, how do you
mean that you watch the movie there's a movie theater screen, Yes,
and explain that to people. It comes right down on
the Capitol stage and it hangs.

Speaker 7 (56:29):
It's right there.

Speaker 6 (56:30):
So there is a screen.

Speaker 5 (56:31):
Yeah, sure is this believe it or not. When it
was first built in nineteen twenty eight and open, that's
what it was. There were movies here and then they
got away from it, and we wanted to try to
revive that a little bit. So, yeah, there's a big
screen projector you can project the movies up on the
screen and you'll sit and watch and the quality is impressive.

(56:53):
I mean you can see it just like you were
watching it on TV.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (56:57):
Yeah, so it's not like we're stretching it in any
way by running a movie on the projector on the screen.

Speaker 10 (57:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (57:06):
Some people just didn't realize that there is a movie
theater screen.

Speaker 5 (57:09):
Yeah, we can do it, and you know, we try
to do it. It looks like on the schedule it's usually
maybe every quarter we try to do it. But with
this one, it's the perfect combination. Right, our Christmas season
and Christmas Vacation. Come down and get a little kick
out of it and laugh And I'm sorry.

Speaker 7 (57:24):
If you don't like Christmas Vacation.

Speaker 6 (57:26):
If there's not one scene in there that you can
laugh at, then hear the Grinch because everybody can relate
to something in that film, Like everybody has the ant
with the green jello mold. I had that ant every Christmas.
She showed up with a green jello mold. There was
never catfood in it. But everybody has that one relative

(57:46):
or somebody that they can relate to in that film.

Speaker 5 (57:48):
Yeah, for sure, it's funny. Those first two movies are unbelievable,
just unbelievable, hilarious. And you know, I became a huge
Chevy Chase fan from the early eighties, you know, late
seventies on, and he's just hilarious all the time. Caddy
Shack was unbelievable and so and you know that's nice.

(58:10):
And then it's funny again. We flipped this switch on
the programming here at the theater again on the thirteenth,
which is a Saturday. Then we roll into Motown Christmas
and so you got the motor toown all stars coming in,
you know, members from the Miracles to Contours and that
kind of thing. So when you take a look at
that holiday lineup, pretty diverse. You know, you go Ann Wilson,

(58:35):
Sarah Evans, the gift with all that talent, Chevy Chase
can laugh your head off and watch the movie, and
then Motown Christmas here. It'll be a little bit of
different kind of music for that, that jazz, soul, kind
of blues kind of music.

Speaker 6 (58:50):
Well, and then looking ahead into next year. I can't
even believe we're saying twenty twenty six. Oh my god,
that's crazy. I have heard so much excitement people are
buzzing about Jody Messina.

Speaker 5 (59:05):
Oh good, I.

Speaker 6 (59:06):
Mean I am getting hit up left and right.

Speaker 7 (59:09):
What do you know?

Speaker 6 (59:09):
When are the tickets? How much of the tickets are you?
Do you have any tickets? People are just pumped for
Jody Messina.

Speaker 5 (59:16):
Yeah, that's our executive director, Kelly Tucker. She's doing a
really good job and trying to revive the country music
portion of the programming that the Capitol Theater is so
known for and revive that and so we pie in
the sky goal is one a month, right, isn't always
one a month? But Jody Messina is on the twenty

(59:38):
ninth here at the theater. Really excited to have her in,
and everyone we've talked to as well, really really is
excited about her. And then we were mentioning earlier off
air in April, back to back nights here at the theater.
We are going to have Clint Black and then just Yeah.

(01:00:00):
And then the next night we just announced yesterday, the
next night will be Carly Pearce a young country start
coming about. So that'll be April twenty third and April
twenty fourth here at the theater, and again that'll be country.

Speaker 7 (01:00:13):
I'm not familiar.

Speaker 6 (01:00:14):
I know the name Carly Pee, I'm not real familiar.
I hate to say, I'm looking up the event information.
I'm sure if I heard a song, I would know exactly.

Speaker 7 (01:00:21):
Who it is.

Speaker 5 (01:00:22):
Yeah, but like you and all our listeners know, I'm
not a country guy.

Speaker 6 (01:00:27):
So you said pie in the sky and you mentioned
you know, once a month, So give me a pie
in the sky artist that you would love to see,
either here or at the arena. And we're not saying
this is happening. We're not saying that you know it's
being worked on, just just off the top of your head,
who you would absolutely love to see.

Speaker 5 (01:00:50):
Well, one was already happened in October. Robert Plant was
Saving Grace and that was that was even better than
I expected, which is hard to believe. They were amazing
and fantastic. Here's one that I've started a little bit
of conversation for that will probably never happen, but that
I would love to see it. Trying to Eric Clapton.

(01:01:13):
Eric Clapton lives in Columbus six months out of the
year because his wife is from Columbus, and he has
popped up on occasion at small fundraisers in Columbus. So
anybody out there listening, if you know Eric Clapton's wife, yes,
get me connected to her, because you know Eric's gonna

(01:01:37):
do whatever the missus says. Drive him over, have him
played for a couple hours, drive him right back, and
have him home by that evening. Oh, I'm never going
to happen.

Speaker 7 (01:01:49):
To drive him yourself.

Speaker 5 (01:01:50):
I would volunteer to do that for sure. But you know,
he has popped up. My cousin that lives in Columbus
said he'll pop up out of nowhere. It's some certain
fundraisers and whatnot, and so that would be a goal.
Now other ones would be, you know, out of reach.
My first concert here as an eighth grader was ac
DC with UFO, and that was the ac DC with

(01:02:13):
Bond Scott. So man, I'd love to see them. Yeah, well, just.

Speaker 6 (01:02:18):
Real quick, we gotta know but everything. You go to
Capitoltheater Wheeling dot com for any of your tickets or
of course the night of you feel like they we're
going to go walk right up and get your tickets.

Speaker 5 (01:02:29):
And if you're looking for something at Westbanco Arena, it's
Westbancorena dot Com.

Speaker 7 (01:02:33):
Wonderful Howard.

Speaker 5 (01:02:34):
Thanks thanks for having me. I appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (01:02:36):
You have a holidays too, happy holidays there too busy.

Speaker 5 (01:02:39):
I won't but come see us everybody out there.

Speaker 6 (01:02:42):
We'll be back to bloom Daddy Experience, News Radio eleven
seventy w w VA.

Speaker 8 (01:02:53):
Expect one.

Speaker 6 (01:02:54):
Welcome back on your Tuesday morning, the bloom Daddy Experience,
samon Otis News Radio eleven w v A.

Speaker 7 (01:03:01):
We're not done quite yet.

Speaker 6 (01:03:04):
We still have another chance for you to win this morning.
We have one more pair of tickets to Chevy Chase
for the day. His show is next Tuesday, just like
Howard told us about, So that is coming up here
at the end of the show. So stay tuned for
that for your chance to win.

Speaker 7 (01:03:19):
But we're always winners. When we get to talk.

Speaker 6 (01:03:23):
To Kevin Cook's Drab Automotive.

Speaker 7 (01:03:25):
Good morning, Kevin, Good morning guys.

Speaker 11 (01:03:27):
Great segue about winning. Right there you go, there you go.
It's happy Honda days, okay, And you can purchase your
next Honda from the number one or the number two
Honda dealers in the entire state of West Virginia. Mount
near Hondover Bridgeport was number one last month. Strab Honda

(01:03:50):
right here at the Highlands number two. These guys battle
it out, you know, every month for the you know,
for the title, for the crown, you know, for the
bragging rights, whatever you want to call it. But the
real winner in these situations is a customer. Because these
guys are doing everything they can to put every car
deal together possible, all right, So they're gonna want to

(01:04:13):
start out today just like they did last month, and
want to have a big day today. And it may
be a little challenging today.

Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
Well I'm as good as that, do tell.

Speaker 6 (01:04:28):
Yeah, really was a little tricky getting up there this morning,
it was.

Speaker 11 (01:04:33):
But here's the thing. You don't have to right You
can get right there, you know, log on to your computer,
log on, you know, get on your phone. You can
log into drivestob dot com. You can go straight up
to the Honda store virtually. You can check out all
the inventory we have. You can check out the vehicle
that best fits your needs. You can send us information
on your trade. We can work everything online. We could

(01:04:57):
do all of the necessary paperwork online for you. Uh,
and then we can deliver you to be when it
clears up just a little bit.

Speaker 6 (01:05:06):
Well, and I'm sure when you drive on a morning
late this morning, you think about four wheel drive, all
wheel drive. You have all of those available at Strap correct.

Speaker 11 (01:05:15):
Four will drive, all will drive. We've got it all.
We've got them in stock right now. They're all ready
to go. We are going to have to clean a
few of them. Allows no off of them when we
can see what colors are.

Speaker 8 (01:05:32):
You're perfect.

Speaker 11 (01:05:35):
Hey, we're in good check. But you know what, it
wasn't that bad this morning calling up. You know if
everybody just you know, uses a comment scene, there you
go and don't follow too close and don't go too fast.
You know you can get around today. But just you know,
everybody be real real careful out there.

Speaker 6 (01:05:50):
Be smart, you know exactly exactly, And if you don't
want to drive like you said, you.

Speaker 9 (01:05:55):
Just go to.

Speaker 7 (01:05:58):
Online draftshop dot com.

Speaker 11 (01:06:00):
There you go, check it out. We're making it easier
and easier every day for you to save money. Always
a winner. Number one and number two couldn't be more
proud of these teams and grateful for every customer that
did business with us in the month of November. We
were truly grateful for that. Where it was Handahunda, Nissan, Krashadage.
He ran four pre owned service body parts.

Speaker 10 (01:06:19):
I we really really appreciate y'all's business.

Speaker 11 (01:06:22):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (01:06:23):
You got it, buddy.

Speaker 11 (01:06:24):
Hi guys, y'all have fun.

Speaker 8 (01:06:26):
Okay, all right, we'll see you talk tomorrow. Okay, there
you get click. He got it all out there, he did.

Speaker 6 (01:06:34):
That's a to ramble off all those all the name
brands and everything.

Speaker 7 (01:06:38):
That's a that's a mouthful. Get it all out, Get
it all out.

Speaker 9 (01:06:42):
The Uh.

Speaker 6 (01:06:43):
If you happened to hit the power ball, which is
now at seven hundred and seventy five million dollars, I'm
sure Kevin at strab could help you, it's rolling over
again because the grand prize was not uh the jackpark
was not hit last night. So the drawing now rolls
over with the estimated jackpot now as I said, at

(01:07:04):
seven hundred and seventy five million dollars, and the numbers
will be drawn on Wednesday, so if somebody doesn't win
on doesn't hit on Wednesday, yikes, we are probably going
to be talking a very very very large, very large jackpot.

(01:07:25):
And today, by the way, is today is Giving Tuesday.
It's the charitable follow up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
It launched in twenty twelve and asks people to give money, time,
or support to any number of causes, communities, and nonprofit organizations.
Each year, millions take part through donations and volunteerism. Here's

(01:07:47):
the thing, Today's the day that everybody talks about it.
As I said, it's Giving Tuesday. But you don't have
to have a special day to do it. If you
want to get involved. One thing that we're doing here
at at iHeart and especially our show, we have teamed
up with Harvey Goodman, Realtor, and what we are doing

(01:08:07):
is raising funds for the Road Home Animal Project. So
if you want to be involved in that, all you
have to simply do is go buy your pet an
HG Hanky scarf I'm sorry Hanky scarf at custominc dot
com and the proceeds go to the Road Home Animal

(01:08:31):
Project to help support their causes. They rescue animals from
all across the Ohio Valley. So there's something on this
Giving Tuesday that you can get involved in that's right
up my alley. Because I'm a pet lover, otis your
doglover too, So that sort of strikes strikes, strikes a
cord and happening this Saturday out at.

Speaker 7 (01:08:53):
The Ohio Valley Mall.

Speaker 6 (01:08:56):
It is the annual Operation Toy Left Now. What this is, We,
along with the Wheeling Police Department, Belmont County Sheriff's Department,
and many many other entities that I'm not going to
rattle off, team up to raise toys this holiday season.
This is our seventh or eighth year doing it. Is

(01:09:17):
turned into a huge event. All proceeds, all the toys
gathered go to the United Way and then they take
the appropriate steps to divvy out to those in need
all across our area. So if you're out and about
Christmas shopping on Saturday, swing by the High Valley Mall.
You might see a crazy person up in the bucket

(01:09:40):
truck waving at you. Hint, hint, it may be me
freezing my tail off doing it.

Speaker 7 (01:09:47):
But just drop off.

Speaker 6 (01:09:47):
A new unwrapped toy and we will take.

Speaker 7 (01:09:52):
Care of it from there.

Speaker 6 (01:09:52):
It's a great cause. It's grown into a huge event
and I am so proud to be a part of it.
So that's happening Saturday, so that I'll tell into It's
Giving Tuesday. So there you go, folks. I give you
all kinds of ways to support our community.

Speaker 7 (01:10:09):
Otis you've got anything.

Speaker 8 (01:10:10):
It's done to give away Chevy Chase tickets.

Speaker 7 (01:10:12):
There we go.

Speaker 6 (01:10:13):
It's a Giving Tuesday, so it all ties in perfectly.
One eight hundred sixty two, four eleven seventy one eight
hundred sixty two, four eleven seventy let's do Caller number thirteen.
Caller number thirteen for a pair of Chevy Chase Christmas
Vacation here at the Capitol the bloom Daddy Experience. We
are out.

Speaker 7 (01:10:31):
We'll talk to you tomorrow.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
