Speaker 1 (00:00):
Indeed number one Tuck show in the Ohio Valley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His
goal inform, entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news radio eleven seventy WWVA starts now the.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Bloom Daddy Experience. It's seven oh six on news radio
eleven seventy.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Jimmer and Acy, former.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Congressman bloom Daddy Show political analyst is sitting there right now, going.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
You got your note stretched.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
It's it's a long story, Jim, but it was a
medical procedure.

Speaker 5 (00:35):
Okay, I would say, you're right.

Speaker 6 (00:37):
I was sitting here listening, thinking, boy, I'm not even
gonna ask that question.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Well this, yeah, I kind of figured you're sitting back going,
Please don't lead into me with that.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
All right, how about this.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
You've got members of the House of Representatives quitting Congress.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
This is going at a record rate, Jim.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Republican retirements and resignations outpacing Democrats by a nearly two
to one ratio on the first eleven months of the year.
Previous cycles, the party with more departures tens to lose
seats if not the majority. Now this isn't a good
sign for obviously Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. He's
worried about these early GOP retirements tripping him of his

(01:14):
gabble this next year. The record number of exits also
guarantees that the next Congress is going to look considerably different.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Than the current one.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
If you take a look at the numbers, forty four
lawmakers more than one in ten have announced they plan
to leave the chamber or already have.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
What's the reasoning here? What's going on?

Speaker 6 (01:34):
Well, and thanks again for having me, bloom Daddy, But
you're right. I mean, we have twenty three Republicans already retiring.
And the last cycle, the record was twenty eighteen, which
is actually the year that I retired from Congress and
left in twenty twenty, but I at least I announced
my retirement, but it was twenty four Republicans in that

(01:56):
year and that didn't happen until in April of So
we're already way ahead of pace at twenty three. And
I think what's really going on is Republicans are just
having a problem. I mean, there's a mixed signal coming
out of Washington. There's Republicans that really believe in the
economic policies of Ronald Reagan with no tariffs. They're not

(02:17):
talking about it, but they believe it. I talk to them.
There's others who are now become the populist part of
the party, as I'll call it, the Donald Trump part
of the party, which believes in tariffs and some things
that aren't part of the basic Republican philosophy philosophy, so
there's a real struggle. You've also got some issues that

(02:37):
are really hard to fix, like affordability. You don't fix
affordability in one year, and I think they're starting to
see that. So affordability will be an issue when November
elections come up next year because it takes a while
for policies to bake in, and then when you got
these tariffs that are actually rising causing costs to go up,

(02:59):
it's really hard to be able to argue that we're
going to change the affordability around. And again, I think
all of those mixed signals are bringing people to the
conclusion that this isn't the place I want to be anymore.
There's still chaos here, and they want to move back
and do what they were doing before they came to Congress. Now,

(03:19):
I will always tell you there are those that will
stay there no matter what. That's part of the problem
because they're the ones who just like the chaos, like
the problems like living in the swamp, and in my opinion,
are part of the problem.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Okay, you mentioned the economy. That brings me to congressional Republicans.
I've seen where you've got a couple of them starting
to publicly and privately kind of sound the alarm about
the Republican Party strategy and Trump in particular his failure
to address affordability concerns. And you've got a lot of
Republicans out there getting very, very frustrated with Trump's I

(03:52):
guess you could call cavalier attitude toward the subject. I mean,
the high cost of living was inherited from Biden, there's
no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
But you've got a lot of GOP.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Lawmakers who still think their party needs to sharpen its
own message ahead of the midterms, and they feel like
Trump is just being oblivious to it. Here's from a
Texas Republican a quote, Jim, if we don't do that,
we would be morons. Because the economy is very much
on people's minds. Democrats fail to really hammer the economy

(04:21):
and it cost them the election. If we as Republicans
fail to do the same, it wouldn't surprise me if
we had a similar turnout.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Do you agree with him?

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Absolutely, And I think that's one of the problems that
I think Republicans are starting to see too. They don't
want to be in the minority. They see this coming.
There are signs that the economy is not going well.
People don't want to talk about it. You know, you've
got rates going up on treasury bills. That's not a
good sign. That's usually a problem. You have gas prices
coming down, that's not a good sign. That's usually a

(04:50):
problem when you're getting close to recession. The realists are
looking at this, especially those in Congress that are saying,
wait a minute, we've got serious problems. We're not in
addressing something that we the president who's saying this is
a democratic hoax, but it really is not. Those people
that you know, by the way, every time my wife
comes home with groceries, I wonder where she's been and
how much of the store she bought with the price

(05:12):
that she's paying. So I see it. Everybody sees it.
It's a real problem, and the affordability for Americans is
not going to be gone in the next year, So
we have to Republicans have to start talking about it
if they want to get re elected.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
You're exactly right. I mean, the economy's personal, Jim. You
know that.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
And it doesn't matter what Washington or Wall Street's saying
about it. It's how consumers feel and they feel that
their government, the Republican Party now has kind of left
them behind on this. And if you think beef's expensive now,
next year, they're saying prices could soar nearly sixty percent.
Trump's not stupid, So why is he not taking the

(05:49):
bull by the horns on this and addressing it.

Speaker 6 (05:51):
Well, the one thing President Trump does well is he
changes the subject matter. And he's really trying to change
the subject matter here. He talks about all that money
that's being invested in the United States. He's always changing
the subject which he I said, he does great. The
problem is he knows the affordability is not going to
change in the next year. So what you're going to see,
and I've already heard this, President Trump's going to get

(06:13):
in Air Force one, start going across the country, talking
about all the good things he has done, which is
probably the only thing he can do between now and
November to try and change this, because otherwise people's bills
are still going to be the same. Gas prices are
going up, I'm talking about natural gas prices are going up,
Utility prices are going up, groceries are going up, and

(06:34):
he's going to have to explain to the American people
why that's okay. Give his Congress, the House, and the
Senate another two years so he can finish his job.
That will be the message over the next ten months.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
DIY Jim, thanks for jumping on as always, Thank you.

Speaker 7 (06:53):
Good morning both at seventy eighteen on this Tuesday, the
Bloodatti Experience OTIS and Sam News Radio WWVA. All Right,
before we get into Otis's story, just a couple of
things real quick, coming up very shortly, very very shortly.
We have your first chance to win this morning. We
have a pair of tickets to Golden Ticket Cinemas out

(07:16):
at the High Valley Mall, so that is coming up
very very shortly. Also, we have a huge, big announcement.
I'm gonna I'm not gonna say huge, but we have
a big announcement about next Friday's Holiday show and something
that's gonna kick off this morning that ties into the
holiday show. So we have that, and don't forget about

(07:36):
free lunch. Get your registrations in. Just email Sam at
iHeartMedia dot com. That's Sam at iHeartMedia dot com. Just
need your name, phone number in place of business because
the drawing for that winner will be tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
And let's not forget that the if you want tickets
to see Chevy Chase, yes, the show has been canceled.

Speaker 7 (07:57):
Yes, don't know details hurt.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
So then if you are if you if you were
somebody that won tickets to Chevy Chase from us, you
are not on the thirty day limit now, so you
can rewin because that's that wouldn't be.

Speaker 7 (08:09):
Fair to correct in our apologies, Yeah we have.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
We have no control over that.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
So, and you're not going to get a refund because
the tickets were free, so keep that in mind. You're
not going to beat the system.

Speaker 7 (08:24):
Yeah no, no, no no, But you're like you said,
you're back at like like I would have said, back
into the rotation.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Sure, you're you're eligible to win.

Speaker 7 (08:33):
There you go, there you go, all right, you miss me.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Are you kidding? I know, I was having I was
having a good time.

Speaker 7 (08:39):
Yeah, you had another adventure I did.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
I went to Phoenix for the weekend. I went to
see one of my favorite bands, which is Roger Klein
and the Peacemakers. And everybody's going to go out there,
who the hell is that? And that's fine. I don't
have a problem with that.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
But the lead singer and the drummer we're in a
band in the early nineties called The Refreshments and they
actually had a they had a top forty hit got
a lot of airplay on MTV called Bandidos. And then
they also did the theme song for King of the Hill.

Speaker 7 (09:07):
They didn't do the theme song for Friends.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
No, No, that was the that was the Replacements. I think.

Speaker 7 (09:13):
Ah, okay, it sounds yes, yes, okay.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
And there's actually two bands out there called The Refreshments.
So but the theater, it's an independently owned theater where
we went where it was, and it's kind of neat
because there's like it has a round stage in the
center and the stage spins, okay, so you're never at
one point in time you might be behind the band

(09:36):
and one time point in time, the band's looking directly
at you, so it's kind of cool. And then what
they do is though they spin it counterclockwise for maybe
like three or four minutes, and then they stop it,
and then it spins clockwise for three or four minutes,
and then they they just keep going back and forth, so.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
Nobody's stuck looking at the back of the drummer's head
correct for the whole thing.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Now, toward the end of the show, they stopped. They
stopped it, and there's probably like three or four songs
that they it just stopped spinning. So at that point
in time, now I'm kind of like on the very
right hand side, almost to the back. Okay, so it's
still what excuse me, It still wasn't bad. But the
band that opened the drummer for Roger Klin and the

(10:18):
Peacemaker has he there. He's in another three man band
called Golden Delicious, which was that's name, And so the
guy comes out, the lead singer, and he says, I
have to I'm going to clean this up. Okay, So
he says, hey, in case you've never heard of us,
we're Golden Delicious and we are going to soft rock
the crap out of you, and he just said, didn't.

(10:40):
He used another word, which I thought was a great
line because he was just so excited about.

Speaker 7 (10:44):
It, that is soft rock.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
And then there were a couple of songs in and
they like, as the stage is spinning because it's fun
for the opening that too, he says. You know, years
ago I came to the Celebrity Theater to a concert
and he said, I came to see Willie Nelson and
will and Jennings. And he said, at about three or
four songs into the show, the stage is turning and
wail and stops that. He looks at Willy, he says, Willie,

(11:08):
he says, is this stage spinning or are we still
on dope? So there was a couple of things that
were and but yeah, so you know, but when you
go on vacation, you know, it doesn't matter. In the
summer winter, you adjust your thermostad because nobody's.

Speaker 7 (11:25):
In the house, right, yeah, turn it up, turn it down.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
So I turned my thermostad down from sixty eight degrees
to sixty two.

Speaker 7 (11:34):
Youber house at sixty eight, all right.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
So I come home last night and I walk in
the house and I'm like, who, it's a little chilli
in here, not thinking I go back to turn my
heat up to sixty eight. The temperature in my house
was forty three degrees. Somewhere along the line, the furnace
stopped kicking on, so I had to get out and
reset the breaker. Oh, at one point in time, when

(12:01):
I woke up this morning, it was fifty eight degrees.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
The heat wave.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
It was a heat wave, but I had to break out.
I had to go find blankets because I don't I
normally don't have blankets on my bed, and I had
to go find blankets. And I actually slept in sweatpants
and socks and everything else. Oh it was chili. No
frozen pipes though, uh no, everything seemed to work fine,
and there was no water in my house.

Speaker 7 (12:23):
So he kind of got lucky. It was cold this morning.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Man, I have no idea when I mean, that could have.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
Just happened a couple hours before you got him.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Sure, Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if it
happened when I left, or if it happened right before
I got back. But I'm sitting in the kitchen and
I had turned because my house was all electrics in
my stuve, I turned all the burners on. So my
kitchen was actually warm. Okay, the rest of the house
was freaking cold. The dog was sitting there, He's sitting

(12:51):
looking at me. He's breathing and the steam's coming out
of his mouth. Oh cheese, And I'm like, it's cold here.

Speaker 7 (12:59):
Yikes.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
What was it?

Speaker 7 (12:59):
Forty eight, forty three, forty three?

Speaker 4 (13:03):
It went up about a degree every five minutes. I
got it up to sixty and then when I turned
the stove off, about it about twenty minutes a half
an hour later, dropped back down to fifty eight.

Speaker 7 (13:16):
I put off that much heat.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Wow, I had them all on ten. They were cranking
my electric just it just probably quadrupled last night. And
I'm my my furnace hasn't shut off yet.

Speaker 7 (13:28):
So do you don't have an electric blanket or anything
like that?

Speaker 4 (13:31):
I had a little. I've got portable heaters, but I didn't.
I didn't want to hook any of them up because
there's a couple of them I don't trust.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah with the dogs.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
Ask a fireman. They tell you those are late.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Well, this is electric and if you if if it's
not level, it'll turn off automatically. Oh so, like if
you bump it, knock it over. It's not gonna spark
or right. So anyway, that's cold.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
That's cold. I got my car this morning put out
of the garage. God blessed the garage. Oh love. It
was the outside temperature eleven degrees.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Yeah, that's chilly. But I will say this about my trip.
The show was well worth the trip.

Speaker 7 (14:13):
Good.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
I mean besides the opening act, which I had never
heard their music before and I kind of liked it.

Speaker 7 (14:20):
Was that the Golden Delicious, Yes it was.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
And then Roger Con and the Peacemakers they debuted their
new album. So the first ten songs were the first
ten songs off the new album, and then they proceeded
to play eighteen or nineteen more songs, and so it
was about a three hour show. I was telling you
right before the break that they auctioned off a guitar
for the local food bank or whatever. It was autographed

(14:43):
by the four members of the band, and it went
to ten thousand dollars. So they raised ten thousand dollars
on that guitar, and the guy auctioning it said, hey,
if we do a second guitar. Guitar was somebody matched
the ten thousand dollars, and somebody did so they did
two guitars and they raised twenty thousand dollars for the
food Bank in like five minutes, which I thought was
pretty cool. Wow.

Speaker 7 (15:04):
Yeah, that's a that's a huge chunk of money. That's
a lot of canned goods.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yep, it is so dang dang dan.

Speaker 7 (15:12):
What was the weather like out there? Seventies?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Yeah, well, it was probably about seventy two on Saturday
and then or maybe Friday. Friday, it was about seventy
two and then it didn't get It was about sixty
eight Saturday and Sunday, and then it was supposed to
I left early yesterday. I left around Newton, so it
was about it was about sixty eight when I left.

Speaker 7 (15:33):
Nice, nice, Nice, Nice. Do we want to do our
first win today?

Speaker 4 (15:40):
Or well? We got two minutes? I mean, so we
got a.

Speaker 7 (15:42):
Couple of minutes. We got a couple of minutes.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
We'll do it at the end. But do you want
to tell what do we want to give up?

Speaker 7 (15:48):
Make our announcement?

Speaker 6 (15:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (15:49):
Go ahead, Okay, so listen, folks, here's what we're doing.

Speaker 7 (17:06):
And we're gonna explain a little bit of this a
little bit more. We're up against a hard break. It's
seven twenty eight cinema tickets OH one, eight hundred sixty
four eleven seventy caller number eighteen caller number eighteen one
eight hundred six two four eleven seventy. Welcome back the

(17:29):
bloom Daddy Experience, Sam and Otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
You know what we talk about a lot about the
Ohio Valley. We talk about you know, we have wonderful
people here in our area, and we have a lot
of giving here in the Ohio Valley. Saw it this
weekend at Operation Toyleft. Wanted to highlight somebody. I got

(17:52):
a phone call last week from a dear friend of
mine that said, I just had an experience tonight that
touched me in a way that I want to tell
you about. And when she said that to me, I thought, Okay,
this is something very important because she's not one to,
you know, over exaggerate or that. And she's like, you

(18:15):
really need to talk to this guy, and I said okay.
So she proceeded to tell me about Pastor Mike Palmer
of the United Methodist Church in Tridelfia, West Virginia. So
he's joining me now. I wanted a spotlight pastor, Mike,
So thanks for coming in.

Speaker 9 (18:30):
Oh, thank you for having me.

Speaker 7 (18:31):
So you know I talked about the phone call I got.
Here's the thing. United Methodist Church, Tridelfia, West Virginia. That
town range true right now, because you have been we
all remember June fourteenth. This past summer, you have been
highly involved with fundraising, donations and everything to help the

(18:55):
victims in Tridelphia since the since that day, correct, yes,
blessed to be able to do that, and you know
we've had stacy from the United Way and to discuss
where things stand. This time of year I think really
highlights because a lot of the times when something falls

(19:16):
out of the headlines, those of us not affected continue
to live our lives daily. These people that were affected,
that lost everything, their homes, their pets, those that lost
lost family members. Unfortunately, they are still dealing and you
are still still working with them.

Speaker 9 (19:36):
The best of our ability. We're trying to help them
get through this time.

Speaker 7 (19:39):
Yes, and right now here. Last week you and your
church and other volunteers were involved in a holiday decoration fundraiser.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Correct, Yes, that.

Speaker 9 (19:51):
Was started by Newbridge, Chris Figuretti and his team, they
encompassed me with that and we get together and use
the town hall. Because the donations come in extremely more
than we expected. We probably end up getting roughly say,
attractor trailer full of Christmas donations, new, slightly used or vintage.

(20:14):
And the outcome for people coming has just been tremendous.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Heard about it.

Speaker 9 (20:20):
The first day we get things all organized. The second
day people come and started getting things. And in the
process of getting things, more people kept delivering. So if
we people come and took three four Christmas trees, shortly later,
three more people bring three more Christmas trees. It was
just an ongoing giving, giving, giving as we proceeded to
also give out to the community who needed it well.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
And a lot of times, you know, you hear, you know,
people that lose their homes and fires or flooding. In
this case, you think of the essentials. You think clothes, shoes,
items of memory. But then when this time rolls around,
then you go, wait a second, they don't even have
a Christmas tree, or they don't have their family ornaments,

(21:02):
they don't have their Nativity scenes. They lost that too.
So that's what I think makes this portion of what
you and your team have done very unique because again
some of us don't even we don't even think about that.

Speaker 9 (21:16):
Yes, that's sad that as time goes on we kind
of forget, for lack of better words, of what transpired.
We're going into seven months now and it's still freshening
people's mind. It's seven I bought it and by bringing
to the Christmas decorations and it just bring unwarmth to
everybody to come in and get the stuff. You see
a smile interface you know, I didn't think I'll be

(21:37):
able to sell a cricksersts this year. Because of this,
we're able to have an our tree up. My little
ones get to have the decorations and the lights and
all that stuff and put this on so they don't
have to worry about using what income they have left
or what money they have left to go by it yourself.
So when this come about, just the outpour of generosity,
it's just been overwhelming.

Speaker 7 (21:56):
What are you still hearing from victims of the fund?
It's like, do you know, off the top of your
head how many people are still displaced living in hotels?
Do you buy any chance know those numbers?

Speaker 9 (22:08):
I do not have an exact number on Stacy probably
have a better idea of that many numbers, but I
know we still at the very beginning as we was
feeding twelve hundred and fifty people day breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
And we're down to roughly twenty five thirty just lunch
and dinner now. So we still know there's people's not
inner house you have, they're ready to cook for theirselves
or you know, prepare their own meals. And there are
a few people still in hotels, but exactly how many.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
I do not know.

Speaker 7 (22:30):
How about the rebuilding process, how how is that going
for a.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Lot of folks, I think it's going well.

Speaker 9 (22:38):
We've been very blessed with the monetary donation to help
put us on at the very beginning. We hope to
raise enough money to build structure wise, not completely homes,
just parts of the homes that were destroyed with bearing materials.
We've raised so much money we was able to put
about eighty people back into their homes.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
For the two buffours, to draw walls.

Speaker 9 (22:57):
And the screw everything it needs to get that part
of it now, and now we're still taking one step forward.
We're going to start helping with cabinets and appliances and
things like that. But it's just what amazes me that
to see the love has come through this valley. I mean,
you know, we hear devastation everywhere and sometimes we think
will never hit us, but this is the biggest devastation
that has ever happened in this region other than Wichi Crek.

(23:18):
You know, we can't forget about Wichi Crek. They had
a very bad devastation as well, But then the outpour
is just in moments people started helping, wanting to help,
reach out to help and do it. And you're not
the Way Community Foundation, all those places, you know, the
High County first Responders and all that all pitched into it.
But as time goes on, we still haven't lost that
there's still people willing to help, people willing to come

(23:40):
and share. We write a check for twenty five hundred
dollars for someone to get their carpet and delivering. Two
days later a guy drops off a check for fifteen
hundred dollars. So it's like the more we give, the
more we'll receive. So just that I just get worked
up in motion because of the fact of how much
people are as willing to help us continue. We still
have people. A lady yesterday just got into her house

(24:03):
since the devastation, and then she's now in the beginning.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Process of it.

Speaker 9 (24:06):
So we still have those out there. So the actual number,
you know, it's still devastated. I can't give you no bideo.
We as the church and the volunteers around and those
who donated the money because they're just as important as
the church ever would be is raised enough money to
put them on where they.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
Need to be.

Speaker 7 (24:21):
Again, we're talking to Pastor Mike Palmer the United Methodist
Church located in Tridelphia, talking about the fundraising, the efforts,
how long and what is needed. So through this process,
just very quickly, what you know you said, we're going
on seven months now, what has touched you the most
through this? Because you're somebody who is not necessarily out front,

(24:45):
you're behind the scenes doing the hard work. You know
a lot of times people behind the scenes don't get
the credit where credit is due, and that's one reason
I wanted to have you on the show. But you
know what has hit you the most through this process
that has touched.

Speaker 9 (24:57):
You the kindness and j neenerosity. It's just really moving
my heart. To see that God's hand first and foremost,
we know plays the biggest part of all this thing.
And I'm just a small piece of this big puzzle
that He has orchestrated together. But when you stand there
and you see someone come forward to you, embrace you
and hold you and say thank you so much. We
would never done this without you, without your help. And

(25:19):
it's all the people behind. It's doing that raise and help,
raise the money and so on and so forth to take
his help. So the emotional joy, the sparkle come back
in the people's lives as you see, you know, even
those who lost family, this still brings down a sense
of we have not been forgotten, We are still loved,
We are still cared for by this community. And see

(25:41):
that somewhat put a glisten back in her eyes. Through
the holiday season, you see that little sparkle come back
in our eyes. And to me to see that, especially
over this last couple of days as we've done this
decoration thing there just to see that joy, just to
see that joy.

Speaker 7 (25:56):
Well, I hate to say this, there's never enough time
with these conversations, since we never have enough time, but
we have to end it on that note of course,
donations still being taken at the church. Yes, okay, okay,
so we'll send people your direction of course to the
United Methodist Church in Tridelphia. Thank you for everything that
you've done, you and all the volunteers that you've organized.

(26:19):
Like you said, putting a smile on somebody's face at
Christmas time after a year like this is the reason
for the season.

Speaker 9 (26:26):
If I could add dead one more thing, yeah, we
was graciously four utterly women from Washington, DC donated twenty
five turkeys for us for the Thanksgiving thing. In that
process that was completely But after that, on Friday after Thanksgiving,
Walmart the hot ends gave me one hundred and thirty
turkeys to donate. So after anybody wants to turkey, please
help my church and I'll give the turkey. All right.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
If you're looking for a turkey, you can find one
and try to help me and also some wonderful people.
Thank you, Thank you so much for listening to the
bloom Ditty Experience. Sam and Otis will be right back
here on news radio eleven seventy WWVA what is this?

(27:10):
Seven fifty one? The Blue Dotty Experience Otis and Sam
news Radio eleven seventy wwva, that's a new one. It
sounds like he's seven problems.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
You just keep waiting for something to kick in and
nothing does.

Speaker 7 (27:31):
It's very anti climactic. I want to go back real quick.
First of all, thank you to Pastor Mike for coming
in and giving us an update. You know those people,
there's a lot of people here in our area that
kind of work behind the scenes and do a lot
for others and sometimes don't get a lot of recognition.
So so glad to have Pastor Mike come in and

(27:53):
talk to us about everything he and his church and
the community is done for all of the the unfortunately
the victims of the flood earlier this year. So a
great update there, and then let's go back otis so
we kind of kind of rush yeah, yeah, So we

(28:15):
are doing something new this year for Christmas and it's
gonna benefit you. Okay, So first off, you need to
know this number seven zero four seven zero. That is
our text line. That is how you will register for
our end of year grand prize Stuffed Stalking Extravagonza. I

(28:42):
don't know what that's. Yeah. All you need to do
is you text your name and phone number and the
emoji of Santa Clause's face and that will be your registration.
Now what are you registering for? This is all thanks
to great local show sponsors for pitching in to make

(29:08):
this such a great thing that we are able to
do for you. So here's what you're going to win
if you are the lucky person drawn next Friday during
our absolute musical display of just you know, beauty Christmas Karaoke.

(29:30):
If you want to hear really good Christmas Carol singing,
that's what you want to turn tune into for really.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
Bad Christmas call, which is what it's like. It's normally
the best singer normally doesn't win, yes, because people want
to hear how bad you can sing.

Speaker 7 (29:45):
I was explaining to somebody yesterday and they already said, oh,
you're going to get my vote. So and it wasn't
my mother, by the way. But back to back to
what the list of prizes are. So here's all that
is going to be in the stocking. Give certificate from
River City, a gift certificate to Deluxe Toys over in
Martin's Ferry that is courtesy of Randy and his staff

(30:08):
at Lawlini Lallinian Sons in Martins Ferry, also followed by
a gift certificate from Jacob and Sons right next door
to Lllini Lallenian Sons all In Martin's Ferry. A four
pack a family four pack of tickets to Golden Cinemas
at the High Valley Mall along with four free popcorns,

(30:32):
so tickets and some popcorn. A gift certificate to the
Pike forty A gift certificate to Dutton Cattle. Two SPA
day passes. Okay, this is from Mindset to Wellness. I
have gone there. It's a beautiful spa, beautiful spa. I
am so glad and appreciative for Lynette for kicking in

(30:54):
on this. And listen, guys, if you're stumped on what
to get the wife or the girlfriend for Christmas, or
even even you know wives for the husbands, this is great.
It's two day spas day passes to the Spa. It
includes time in the salt Room, time at the Red
Light Table sauna, float, time in the Polar Plunge. So

(31:14):
each pass qualifies for that we are throwing in so
that you can listen to us everywhere you go. You
can take us with you. We've got Yeah, this is
the gag gift if you will, A new Bluetooth wireless speaker.
So you just sink your phone up to the speaker,
turn on the iHeartRadio app, and there we are. You

(31:38):
can listen to us everywhere you go. So a Bluetooth speaker,
this is a great one. A year's worth of ice
cream from our dear friend Kirk, which, by the way,
I don't know if you heard otis he was the
grand Marshal of the Saint Clairsville Parades at Sunday. Nice yeah.
And then finally a pair of tickets to see Jody

(31:58):
Messina here at the cap Old Theater.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
So how do you win those?

Speaker 7 (32:07):
You can't add to this?

Speaker 4 (32:08):
No, Well, you kept going. I mean like I was
ready to go, but you just keep going and you
just keep running your pie hole. So I mean, okay,
So here's here's how you register it. You do it
so you have to text this seven zero for seven zero.
Then you had the first word in the text has
to be bloom daddy. Then we need your name, your

(32:28):
phone number, your email, and you have to put in
the Santa emoji, or at least a Santa emoji. There
might be a couple of them on there. But some
sort of a Santa emoji and then you're qualified one
entry per person. Okay, we won't go through. You don't
have to register during the you got every You got
all day to do it. So if you're driving, all

(32:49):
you have to remember is seven four zero seven zero.
Started off with bloom.

Speaker 7 (32:53):
Daddy seven zero.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
That's what I said, seven zero four seven zero, and
and then started off with bloom day. That's all you
have to remember. Then the rest is all your information
minus the Sanda is the Sanda emoji, So.

Speaker 7 (33:06):
And we're putting the Santa emoji just to kind of
distinguish between like Tomorrow our Thursday. We'll have kirks. So
that way we can kind of keep the registration separate.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
And it just it does. It doesn't get confusing for us,
right yeah, or for you because you're the only one
that has access to the text line. The text line.

Speaker 7 (33:24):
And again we will choose the winner, not choose. We
will draw the winner next Friday, so you have plenty
of time to.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Get This is your Christmas shopping.

Speaker 7 (33:32):
Yeah, there's something in there for everybody, So it really is.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
If you don't want to go out and Christmas shop
and you win this, we we've got we've got all
kinds of Christmas gifts for you that certificates for whatever.

Speaker 7 (33:45):
That was kind of the idea behind this whole thing
that was in my brain when I kind of it
percolated and it came to the surface. That was kind
of it's percolation a word.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
It is.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
Now take that, Miriam Webster, correct.

Speaker 7 (34:04):
So listen, We're gonna have a lot of fun with this,
and you know, again want to say thank you to
everybody that pitched in to make this prize package what
it is, because if it wasn't for them, it wouldn't
be happening. So yeah, we want to have some fun
fun with this again. Seven zero four seven zero is
our text line. Start the message with bloom Daddy name,

(34:28):
phone number, email, and Asanta emoji. All right, seven fifty eight.
You're listening to the Bloomdaddy Experience. Sam and otis News
Radio eleven seventy wwvad.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
Number one talk show in the Ohio Alley. This is
the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His goal inform, entertain,
and tick people off. The bloom Daddy Experience on news
radio eleven seventy w.

Speaker 5 (35:01):
Starts now.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
News Radio eleven seventy. It's the Blue Daddy experience. Hey
it's eight six, let's get this hour rolling. I did
see something I wanted to bring your attention, and it's
a new report because I try to keep up on
AI because it is just enveloping everything when it comes
to our society. Computer and Communications Industry Association. This report
says Generative AI is being adopted faster than any technology

(35:27):
in modern history. So I want you to think automobile internet, smartphones,
AI faster than any of that. As far as being
adopted by you and others. Less than three years after
his debut, nearly three and five US adults have used
Generative AI in daily use.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Is climbing big time.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Trevor Wagner, Chief Economists and director of the Research Center,
Computer and Communications Industry Association, joining me right now, and Trevor,
why is it spreading so quickly? And is it going
to keep doing that?

Speaker 5 (36:01):
So the most obvious explanation we see is that among
AI users, about seventy seven percent report a favorable impression.
That is to say, those who are using it are
liking it, They're enjoying the experience more than that those
who use it at work are reporting enormously increased productivity.
Their productivity is a fifteen percent on average in our survey,

(36:23):
So the incentive to use it seems quite large if
folks are enjoying it and seeing definite benefits at work
from it.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Well, Trevor, when we talk about using it, what do
we mean by using it in what ways?

Speaker 5 (36:33):
So using it here means intentionally engaging with a generative
AI app. So it could be something like chat GPP,
the Gemini app Claud, one of those apps that actually
lets you have an interface which you're putting in some
sort of a question or a prompt for the AI
tool to respond for you and generate some form of

(36:55):
a response. And the most popular ones by far are
the standards of chatbot models, which we see folks reporting
that about sixty percent are using intentionally on a fairly
regular basis, just three years after the very first one
was released chat GPT back in November twenty twenty two.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
All right, when we talk about AI platforms, you mentioned
chat GPT. How competitive is this right now and how
competitive competitive is it going to be across the AI
landscape over the next say, five to ten years.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
So it's an incredibly complex field. You know, we see
numerous different models here. Chat GPT definitely is in the
lead in terms of having the largest number of respondents
that report using it both ever and on a fairly
regular basis. But all of the leading models have fairly
high use rates that are generally increasing across time, and
we're seeing a rise in the folks who are going

(37:50):
from unpaid subscriptions, which tends to indicate fairly casual use,
to paid subscriptions, which tend to be consistent with more
regular use. Folks want access to the more premium features,
more credits, deep research facts like that.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Talking to Trevor Wagner, chief economist and director of the
Research Center Computer and Communications Industry Association, I have a
lot of people out there, Trevor, that think that AI,
whatever AI spits out, it's one hundred percent correct.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
That's not the case, is it.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
I mean, we're finding out that AI can be misleading,
and I don't know if a lot of Americans realize that.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
So it's one of the biggest findings that we've seen
is that AI is incredibly useful, but it is not flawless,
which is to say, folks have to double check everything
with the AI outputs, it still saves folks enormous time
and that was a big finding in our study. We
found that workers are use it are reporting that they're
saving about fifteen percent time after accounting for the time

(38:44):
that they're spending double checking AI as results. But that
is a key step with AI us. You don't just
want to take its first output and assume that it's
one hundred percent correct with no checks whatsoever.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Right, And I think a lot of people anything new,
Trevor people.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
Wary, I mean some are all in some or not.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Is there anything that we should be worried about pertaining
to AI?

Speaker 5 (39:07):
So with AI, the biggest issue is simply that AI tools.
Most folks aren't using them to their fullest potential. That's
not to say that folks aren't using them, as we've
seen their usage has grown enormously. In fact, just between
March twenty twenty five and July twenty twenty five, we
saw seven percentage points more workers using gen AI at

(39:27):
work and the daily use was truly skyrocketing from twelve
percent eight months ago to seventeen percent now using it
every single day. But when we actually look at the
patterns of use, we see that many folks are typically
using AI just to ask it sort of a quick question,
sort of trying to get a more detailed response than
they might get from a search engine, but not actually

(39:48):
using it to its fullest capacity. And that may be
connected to this uncertainty regarding the AI responses that they
don't realize that you can get good responses, you just
need to double check them, even for very detailed questions.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
All right, you know this a lot better than I do.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
I don't want to get political with you, but I
just you know, if you've got an opinion on this
or you can weigh in, that would be great, because
I just saw where President Trump has announced that he's
going to sign an executive order to block AI regulation
by states. What does that mean is that the right move?
Is this something that you can answer, feel comfortable answering.

Speaker 5 (40:21):
Certainly, so, it's something that's gone under the radar. But
there have been an enormous number of bills introduced and
passed across the country in the past year targeting AI.
They're about eleven one hundred and four bills introduced in
state houses across the country, and one hundred and thirty
one of them became long twenty twenty five. Now, what
does this mean If you're going at the state level,

(40:42):
This means you're getting regulations that might apply to you
if you're working in one state but not in another. Consequence,
there can be that you get conflicting requirements, and in
the absence of the federal standard, that can mean that
an AI product has to be pulled from one state
or completely retooled between states. And what happens if you're
both at the same company and trying to use the tool,

(41:03):
but it can't offer the exact same service to both
of you, It can really weaken the ability to integrate
AI in a sensible way across a company or even
just across a family that might live across state lines.
So it's an understandable move to want to preempt a
lot of these state level regulations that can conflict with
one another. How the exact legislation regulation might look at

(41:25):
the federal level, I think that remains to be seen.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
This move also will allow us to remain a leader
in AI advancement, correct, I mean, because you have more regulations,
it's going to stifle the advancement of AI and allow
other countries to maybe jump in front of us am
I in the ballpark on that.

Speaker 8 (41:42):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (41:42):
Absolutely. One of the biggest fear about having conflicting laws
at the state level is that it turns the US
from this very leading, very welcoming place to be developing
AI tools into one that's a lot less welcoming, and
in that case, our current lead, which places us number
one in the world, could erode very quick because this
is a technology that's evolving very very quickly. So having

(42:04):
a federal standard would very much accelerate development to keep
us the friend destination for these AI companies that are
really producing this frontier technology that's leading the world.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
All Right, Trevor, thanks so much for the insight today.

Speaker 5 (42:18):
Thank you very much for having me.

Speaker 3 (42:19):
All right.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
That's Trevor Waggatur, Chief Economists, Director of Research Center, Computer
and Communications Industry Association, eight nineteen.

Speaker 7 (42:30):
Welcome back to the Blue Betty Experience sam and Otis
News Radio eleven seventy WWVA. So we told you about
our big holiday chance to win giveaway giveaway. We also
have two more chances to win this morning for something different.
So starting today through next week, we have tickets to

(42:51):
see Feel the Love a Taylor Family Christmas listen, Christmas
and Taylor goes together here in the High Valley, and
of course feel the love is b E. Taylor grew up.
Of course everybody knows that name. His son BC is
continuing the tradition. And we have tickets to this year's
show December twenty one, twenty first at the JB. Chambers

(43:14):
Performing Arts Center.

Speaker 4 (43:15):
At Wheeling Park High School.

Speaker 7 (43:16):
At Wheeling Park at Wheeling Park High School. So we
have your chance to win. Come for those coming up
very shortly. We have two chances to win on those
left today, so that is coming up again. That's December
twenty first at the JB. Chambers Performing Arts Center up
at Wheeling Park High School.

Speaker 4 (43:34):
And just a reminder because I just got a text
during the last break that said, Hey, I heard a
rumor Chevy Chase was canceled tonight. It is not a rumor.
Chevy Chase has been canceled for tonight due to some
sort of a scheduling conflict or whatever. We don't know
the reason. They didn't share that. So unfortunately, if you

(43:54):
had tickets, if you paid for them, you could probably
you're probably going to get a refund if you want
them from us. Sorry about your luck. But all we're
going to do is take you out of the you're
not that your thirty day window is now waved well.

Speaker 7 (44:08):
And here's the other thing with all of all, you know,
we have a lot of balls in the air right
now with with chances to win. So for the holiday
stuff stocking prize that we're doing in the drawing next
Friday during the the Christmas Karaoke Show, the thirty day
window doesn't apply for that, okay.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
So so if if you've won tickets in the last
thirty days or something that life.

Speaker 7 (44:34):
Still qualify for them, you can still, yes, yes, so
don't hold back trying to win.

Speaker 4 (44:40):
So if you've won lunch yes for Kirk's ice crew
or tickets, or or if you cinema tickets.

Speaker 7 (44:46):
Or whatever, or you hesitate calling in to win tailor
tickets that we're going to be doing, don't you know,
don't hold back. So that doesn't done.

Speaker 4 (44:55):
That's a song, is it? Don't hold back? Somebody saying
it hold on as a song? Hold on. I'm going
to look here now because that's got me that Now
I'm gonna be stumped and I'm gonna be ticked off
if I don't think of it. Okay, all right, thirty special.

Speaker 7 (45:07):
So well, while you're doing that, I'm gonna do a
little bit of sports news. How's that sound okay? Okay,
So the Heisman Trophy finalists have been revealed. Let's see her.
They are Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, which, by the way,
my dad wants in the draft. Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia.
I hope I said that right to my apologies, Yes, right, okay.

(45:30):
A high state quarterback Julian Saying and Notre Dame running
back Jeremiah Love are all up for the award. The winner.
The winner will be announced Saturday in New York. The
Heisman Trophy, of course, is given each year to the
nation's most outstanding college football player.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
Allegedly. I don't always think they get it right.

Speaker 7 (45:49):
It's always quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (45:51):
It's very rare. I can't remember the last time a
defensive player what it. But it's either a quarterback or
running back or receiver.

Speaker 7 (45:58):
Yeah, defense team seems to get the shaft on a
lot of a lot of awards, especially even in the
Super Bowl things like that. So anyways, I'm also in
sports news. Let's see here, the one member of the
Steelers offense did not travel back to Pittsburgh with the
team following the win over the Ravens. That would be

(46:20):
wide receiver DK Metcalf remained in Baltimore overnight after experiencing
stomach plane stomach pains while on the team plane. Pittsburgh
is seven and six and hosts the Dolphins in week
fifteen on Monday Night Football. And then you can catch this,
of course, on our sister station, Eagle one oh seven

(46:41):
to five. The Penguins begin a five game homestand tonight
after going two to zero to one in their three
game road trip. The Pens are hosting the Anaheim Ducks tonight.
Pittsburgh has earned at least a six Sorry, let me
say that again. Pittsburgh has earned at least a point

(47:02):
in six of its last seven games. And as I said,
you can catch the game live on our sister station,
Eagle one O seven to five hooked on phonix did
not work for me, quack? Is that what you said?
Just drop that in everywhere?

Speaker 3 (47:21):
Killing me slow?

Speaker 7 (47:25):
Oh? I love that movie. I love that movie. And
then let's see here. The Browns are naming rookie Shadoor Sanders.
They're starting quarterback for the final four games of the season. Well,
after what we saw Sunday, the game loss wasn't on him.
I've got to say that boys got an arm and
he's got some wheels on him. Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski
made the announcement yesterday after Sanders made his third career

(47:48):
start in Week fourteen. The twenty three year old accounted
for three hundred and ninety four total yards four touchdowns
in the loss to the Titans. Sanders began his career
as the team's four string quarterback after being selected in
the fifth round of the twenty twenty five draft. He
has completed fifty two point four percent of his past
for seven hundred and sixty nine yards, five touchdowns, and

(48:11):
three interceptions this season. And other news, the center Ethan
Posik will miss the rest of the season with a
torn achilles Oh. I hate hearing about that injury. It
just makes me cringe. Anything to do with go for it.

Speaker 5 (48:29):
You know.

Speaker 4 (48:30):
It was weird being out in Phoenix is the fact
that like what time the games start, so I was
like instead of starting like you were used to the
one o'clock games, where they were at eleven o'clock. Games.
So and on Sunday, I was at a concert at
noon out there, so, I mean, I didn't see any
of the one o'clock games, went and get something to eat,

(48:51):
and the four o'clock games are on it like it's
halftime and it's three thirty and you're like, what the
hell's going on here?

Speaker 7 (48:58):
A which, by the way, on your weekend, jawned, I did,
and I talked about this yesterday. I of course did
a couple events across the Ohio Valley. One was Operation
Toy Left. Did you might any chance to see my
video from up in the bucket truck?

Speaker 4 (49:12):
I didn't really want to watch it? Okay, I saw it.
I didn't watch it.

Speaker 7 (49:14):
Oh well, I appreciate that I called you out. Okay,
next year if they have us back, which I hope
they do. You were going up in the truck idea
if I'm available.

Speaker 4 (49:28):
If I'm available, I have a life outside of this place.

Speaker 7 (49:32):
I do too, But I like to give back to
my community, then I do too, do it.

Speaker 4 (49:38):
I just do it silently. I don't need the I
don't need the exposure.

Speaker 7 (49:42):
It's not about me. It's about our show's exposure.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
Sometimes I just do it out of my end. It's
not about the.

Speaker 7 (49:48):
Show either way. It's your it's your turn to go
up in the up in the truck, not mine, not mine.

Speaker 4 (49:56):
Okay, won't bother me at all.

Speaker 7 (49:58):
See, I told you people, I said this yesterday. I
was like, as soon as I tell Otis that it's
his turn, he'll be like, Oh, I won't bother me.

Speaker 4 (50:05):
Mister tough god I am. I never was afraid of heights,
but now when I get up there, it's like I
get a little my knees get a little wobbly. But
I'll be all right in a bucket. It's just like ladders,
because I don't trust the ladder anymore.

Speaker 7 (50:20):
Which, by the way, did you notice your window?

Speaker 4 (50:22):
Oh you finally got the streaks out? Did you put in?

Speaker 7 (50:24):
I cleaned I cleaned it yesterday while you were gone.
While you were gone, I cleaned your window. I decorated
like for Christmas, and I had to I had to
ask him, did you notice this? Did you notice that?

Speaker 9 (50:38):
You know?

Speaker 5 (50:39):
So?

Speaker 4 (50:39):
There actually is a song called Don't Hold Back two
thousand and six, The Sleeping the Sleeping.

Speaker 7 (50:45):
What Oh that's the band.

Speaker 4 (50:46):
That's the band Sleeping the Sleeping. We never heard of
the sleeping and I think the Chemical Brothers did it too.

Speaker 7 (50:53):
So anyway, well, on that note.

Speaker 4 (50:57):
Just sharing what I talked about earlier.

Speaker 7 (50:59):
Knowledge. Knowledge, Knowledge is keys, Knowledge is key. All right,
let's do it.

Speaker 4 (51:06):
Let's do it.

Speaker 7 (51:07):
Feel the love A Taylor Family Christmas Concert, happening December

(51:50):

listening to the bloom Daddy Experience. Samon Otis News Radio
eleven seventy WWVA eight thirty six. Welcome back to Blue
Daddy experience. I feel like my my Faulk fur coat
would work with that music right there.

Speaker 4 (52:13):
There's nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 7 (52:16):
Oh, we haven't heard from this kind of while Jeff
Bezos has vowed that his Blue Origin Space company will
beat Elon Musk's SpaceX to the moon, but that's not all.
The Amazon evil genius also has plans to put the
first woman on the moon. You'll never guess who that
woman is.

Speaker 10 (52:35):
I'm Jeff Bezos, the new Space races on. I have
vowed that my Blue Origin shall beat Elon musk SpaceX
to the moon, and I shall deliver an astronaut in
just two days time. It's like Moon Prime. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (52:51):
Furthermore, I will break.

Speaker 10 (52:52):
Barriers by putting the first American woman on the moon.
I haven't considered Katie Perry, but since she's dating Justin Trudeau,
I think she's now technically Canadian.

Speaker 3 (53:03):
So that leaves just one another.

Speaker 10 (53:05):
My smoking hot astronaut of a wife, Lauren Sanchez. She's
already out of this world now right now, she's training
for the mission. As one might imagine when traveling on
a rock at there are no bathroom breaks, so to prepare,
I ever working at one of my Amazon warehouses.

Speaker 3 (53:28):
It's a giantly for babe kind.

Speaker 7 (53:34):
Babe kind, Okay, I thought we were getting away from
those kind of things. But all right, all right, he is.

Speaker 4 (53:43):
Not politically correct.

Speaker 7 (53:44):
No, no, he's not why.

Speaker 4 (53:46):
He's an evil genius, yes.

Speaker 7 (53:48):
Exactly, speaking of outer space? Did you see this? And
this is right up your alley? Otis?

Speaker 2 (53:53):
I know?

Speaker 9 (53:54):
So?

Speaker 7 (53:54):
Disney plans to re release the original nineteen seventy seven
version of Star Wars a new hope. So that was
the first movie.

Speaker 4 (54:06):
Released nineteen seventy seven. I saw it, but at the
Victoria Theater. I was in nineteen seventy seven.

Speaker 7 (54:12):
Not even a twinkle in my parent's eye at that way.

Speaker 4 (54:15):
My best friend at the time, of course, it's back
in the days. He calls me on the landline and
he says, Hey, do you want to go see a movie?
And I'm like, yeah, what are you guys going to see?
And he said Star Wars and I thought he said
Star Awards. Oh okay, and I'm thinking, what the heck
is Star Awards? And then you get there and it's

(54:37):
a you know, science fiction sure movie, and You're like,
holy crap, that was good. So yeah, I mean, so
I had no expectations going in and came out as
a how old was I? I was ten? So yeah,
came out very uh pleased with the outcome.

Speaker 7 (55:02):
Well, and that's kind of how that movie was right
at the beginning, where people weren't really sure what it was,
what to expect, and then once like the first batch
of people saw it, and it was kind of like, oh,
what do they say on the internet now when when
something catches fire? Not Trent viral. It was almost like

(55:24):
the movie went viral because everybody was talking about it.
Well again, Disney is going to be re releasing it
on February nineteenth, twenty twenty seven, in theaters celebrating, of course,
the fiftieth anniversary. This is and will be the original version.

Speaker 3 (55:42):
It will not be.

Speaker 7 (55:46):
It will feature the original cut, It will not be
the nineteen ninety seven special edition, which George Lucas basically ruined.
I hated what they did with that, where he included
like all these different CGIs and all of this, you know,
technology at that point in time to make it better. Listen,
sometimes there are certain things in films. Leave them as

(56:08):
they are. I don't care how technolog you know, how
advanced technology gets leave it alone.

Speaker 5 (56:14):
So for the.

Speaker 7 (56:15):
Hardcore steal or not Steelers Star Wars fans that like
the original, that is what this will be so and
that will be re released on February nineteenth, twenty twenty seven,
fifty year anniversary.

Speaker 4 (56:28):
Yikes. Yikes, I means you're old. If you saw the
original I did not. I mean when it came out. Yeah,
I mean people, they've re released it multiple times. What
they before? I think the well one saw the originals
with the original movie with my kids. When they re

(56:50):
released it in the theater, I'm gonna I think I'll
have to go. I'm not I'm not really a theater
person anymore, but for that I might have to go back.

Speaker 7 (56:57):
Yeah, there's nothing like when that theme song starts and
those words start. There is Oh, you're speaking my language
right now. I am a dork when it comes to
that kind of stuff. Well, I dork out even more
when it comes to that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
No.

Speaker 7 (57:16):
In ninety seven, when they released the updated George Lucas version,
I was one of those people camped out at the
mall to go see it and was sitting there on
the floor playing Star Wars Trivial Pursuit yes, ladies and gentlemen,
I was that person. I did not have in know

(57:39):
the Princess Leiah buns or have on the chain bikini.
I didn't go that far, but I was playing Star
Wars Trivial Pursuit.

Speaker 4 (57:47):
Yep, were you dressed up as a wiki?

Speaker 7 (57:50):
No, No, that's today, that's today. In my coat, he
says that because when I was leaving for work this morning,
when it was a ten degrees outside, I have this
faux fur coat and my husband looks at me and
he's like, you look like Chebacca's wife. And I wasn't
exactly sure how to take that. I don't believe that

(58:12):
was intended as a compliment. Uh huh, I don't think it.

Speaker 4 (58:15):
I have no idea, and I'm gonna stay out of
that one.

Speaker 7 (58:19):
Well, we're gonna we are going to stay in the
lines of movies. So we mentioned earlier, We've mentioned a
couple of times. Unfortunately, tonight's special screening of Christmas Vacation
with the Q and A with Chevy Chase has been canceled.
Wanted to let everybody know once again, Unfortunately that has happened.
We don't need to know the details, but that's what
it is, but the most popular Christmas movie in America

(58:43):
has been revealed. So the website Pixel Parade surveyed thousands
of adults from across the country. Do you determine what
movie was the favorite holiday movie per state? Well, the
overall winner was National lamp UNEs Christmas Vacation. It came
out as the top favorite in thirty one states across

(59:05):
the nation, followed by A Christmas Story which came in second,
and in third was Home Alone. ELF came in fourth.
ELF only had one state that shows them as the
number one, Wyoming. That's kind of random, isn't it. Wyoming
small population, Wyoming's a small pot.

Speaker 4 (59:28):
Yeah, I mean I think that, but I think there's
less than a million people in Wyoming.

Speaker 7 (59:33):
So I can't believe one of the classics aren't on there,
like mirakon.

Speaker 4 (59:37):
Thirty fourth Street, or if you had to figure that,
the people that like those are probably a little bit older.

Speaker 7 (59:43):
Also, they're not, you know, in the targeting range for.

Speaker 4 (59:47):
The website, And we don't know what was on the list,
if there was, if they gave them a list of movies,
because all of those are fairly nineteen eight, nineteen eighty,
or like I think Christmas Story is the oldest one
in there, which eighty three I believe well.

Speaker 7 (01:00:02):
And home alone. I saw commercial so last night or
over the weekend. Mcaulay culkin's walking down the street. It's
the iconic scene where he's carrying the groceries and he's
got the mittens hanging from his wrist and the whole
thing and he drops the groceries like the bag breaks,
and the commercial I think, don't quote me on this,

(01:00:22):
but is for like elderly caretakers, like take like not
a nursing home per se, but you know, at at
home nurse to take care of the elderly. And I
can't figure out if they were trying to say that
McCaulay culkin was the elderly and needed help, or if

(01:00:43):
he was the nurse, if you will, taking care of
the older people. Either way, if they were pointing out
that he was the older person that needed caretaking, I
was like, oh God, that is a kick in the guts.
They're same McCaulay holk senior citizen because he's younger than me.
He's younger than me. Oh yikes, not fun, not fun.

(01:01:07):
But we're having fun. You having fun. I'm having fun.

Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
Otis having a blast.

Speaker 7 (01:01:14):
Oh it's a forty five. Get your registrations in are
stuffed Stalking Holiday prize package. Just text a seven zero
four seven zero. Start it off with bloom Daddy. Need
your name, your phone number, and your email address along
with a Santa emoji so we can distinguish you from

(01:01:36):
other things. Also, the thirty day window does not apply
to this, so if you won something yesterday or last week,
you can still register for this one registration per person
eight forty six. You're listening to the bloom Daddy Experience
Otis and Sam here on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA

(01:02:03):

Good morning, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas.

Speaker 7 (01:02:22):
Missed you yesterday.

Speaker 8 (01:02:24):
I know, I got tied up, you know, in a
little meeting. Sometimes that happened.

Speaker 7 (01:02:28):
I thought it was I thought it was because it
was just me, you know.

Speaker 8 (01:02:33):
No, No, Actually, if the otis doesn't say anything this
entire spot, that's perfectly fine.

Speaker 7 (01:02:39):
He just clicked himself off.

Speaker 8 (01:02:44):
No, I heard y'all talking about the Taylor family coming up. Yes,
uh huh, yeah, yeah, Jody and I got to see
them last night. We went to a very yinser Christmas okay, yeah,
which is a lot of the low talent there in Pittsburgh.
I don't know if you knew Joe Water, who's with

(01:03:04):
the stickers and fifty one out singer songwriter, been around
a long time, but there's his family. There was I
mean just a you know, just artist after artist after artists.
It's amazing how much talent is in Pittsburgh and in
this area. There was musicians from the weird in area,

(01:03:24):
uh you know, all over Western PA. And it was
a really outstanding show.

Speaker 5 (01:03:31):
So get you to the Christmas suit.

Speaker 8 (01:03:33):
Taylor family was there as well. Good, so it's fun
to see.

Speaker 7 (01:03:37):
Well glad you said that. I'm glad you said that
because real quick, I'm just gonna remind everybody we're gonna
have another chance for you to win a pair of
tickets to see a Taylor Family Christmas at the Performing
Arts Center up at Wheeling Park High School. So that'll
be coming up here very very shortly. So thanks for
the reminder, Kevin, remind us what's going about.

Speaker 8 (01:03:54):
It was a real treat to hear thee Yeah, so anyway, Steve,
a real treats.

Speaker 5 (01:03:58):
How about all these deals we got going on?

Speaker 8 (01:04:00):
You know, Christmas savings are here all right, end of
the year clearance sale prices on every Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Christi, Dodge, Jeep,
Ram and Forward, as well as trying to reduce our
used car inventory by the end of the year. We
want to carry as little inventory as we can into

(01:04:23):
twenty twenty six. Our accountants have told us, you've got
to get this inventory down, You've got to get rid
of stuff, price it all to move. So the team
has done just that. They spent all day yesterday getting
online making sure that the pricing on every vehicle, new
or pre owned is as aggressive as we can possibly

(01:04:44):
make it. So no matter what you're in the market
for right now, all you have to do is log
on to drystrib dot com. You can filter out you
know exactly what you're looking for, down to even down
to a color, you know, interiors, you know whatever it is.
You can see what the price and if for some
unreal reason you can't find what you want, let us

(01:05:06):
find it for you. We will search it out for you,
we will bring it in. We will make sure that
you get exactly what you're looking for.

Speaker 7 (01:05:13):
So basically what you're saying is you're a one stop
You'll do the legwork, you'll do the searching so people
don't have to sit online and check all of those
You know, I want this and I want you guys
do all that for you. You filtered through.

Speaker 8 (01:05:28):
Everything absolutely, And here's the other thing. While another dealer
may have it. The other dealer's not going to have
ever drive, they're not gonna have lifetime power train protection,
they're not going to have the top rated service departments
in the district. They're not going to have the experience
that you're gonna get here with the Straw Automotive Group.
So no matter what you're looking for, let us find

(01:05:48):
it for you. We'll put every drive on it. We'll
make sure that you get the ultimate Christmas experience right
here at the Straw.

Speaker 7 (01:05:55):

slagh shinier than Santa's.

Speaker 8 (01:06:02):
Right there, you go.

Speaker 7 (01:06:05):
That's pretty good, all right?

Speaker 8 (01:06:08):
The back I will feelings. You know, I didn't know
he brought his little feelings with me.

Speaker 7 (01:06:12):
Well, and just to hint, hint, tomorrow's birthday, so we
have to be nice to Yeah, okay, we have to
be nice.

Speaker 8 (01:06:19):
Right, We're happy birthday from me to more.

Speaker 7 (01:06:23):
All right, right, talk? Do you get by? You can
talk again? That's fine, he said it not.

Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
I understand that. I just stayed out. No, I'm not hurt.
I don't have to be creative at that point in
time now, so I just sit back and listen. I
get paid either if I talk or if I don't, So.

Speaker 7 (01:06:46):
Just sit there with a big old smile on your face.

Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
My job is listed as producer, so if I'm not talking,
it doesn't matter.

Speaker 7 (01:06:54):
Oh shoot shoot tooooo choo choo. So you know the
I that won mayor of New York and you know
the Triangle Museum over in France. How do you pronounce
either of those?

Speaker 4 (01:07:13):
Well, I have to see his name because then I
can read it easier than I can kind of like
do it off the top of my head.

Speaker 7 (01:07:22):
Okay, what about the museum, So.

Speaker 4 (01:07:24):
His name is zorhan Man Donnie. And then the museum
in Paris is the Louverra.

Speaker 7 (01:07:35):
Okay, here's why I asked that, because those are two
words that are some of the most mispronounced in twenty
twenty five. I have never ever heard it called the
louverra ever okay, it's always been called the louver. They

(01:07:56):
call it the louver on the news, they call it
the louver. That's like saying his name's Brett Favra.

Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
To me.

Speaker 7 (01:08:06):
Have you heard it called the louverra? It sounds like loofa.

Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
I've always heard it as the louverra.

Speaker 7 (01:08:12):
I've never heard it called the louverra. Okay, maybe never
heard it called the louverra. Sorry, but those along with
let's see here, what are the other words here? A
seed of mitafin.

Speaker 4 (01:08:25):
You hit that one on the head. I know that
one very well.

Speaker 7 (01:08:29):
Yeah, you have your issues with that one, don't you
are some of as I mentioned the three most mispronounced
words of twenty twenty five. Why did it take till
twenty twenty five to make the list for louver?

Speaker 4 (01:08:46):
Well, I think what happened is it's because it was
in the news with the jeweheist.

Speaker 7 (01:08:52):
Yeah, so yeah, and they called it the louver and
a lot of the reporting, the reporting that I saw. Oh,
by the way, nobody hit the power ball last night,
so It's coming closer and closer and closer to the
billion dollar Moniker too. It's now at at least nine
hundred and thirty million dollars will be on the line

(01:09:12):
for tomorrow's drawing.

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
Worth a shot for two bucks?

Speaker 7 (01:09:16):
Yeah, think, and I would go visit the Louverra if
I won, I would not move to New York City though.
Under mon Dammy, you had.

Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
Eight more taxes. Yeah, well most of your nine had
been thirty million dollars or to go to taxes.

Speaker 7 (01:09:30):
Yeah, but if I wanted to live in a tent,
they would let me. Oh, we're not going to go there.
We'll save that for tomorrow. With politics on leash, but
we are going to do this. We got one more
chance to win for Feel the Love a Taylor Family
Christmas happening at the Performing Arts Center at Wheeling Park
High School, December twenty first, we got another pair for
you one eight hundred sixty two four eleven seventy one

(01:09:51):
