Speaker 1 (00:01):
Indeed number one talk show in the Ohio Valley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy, his
goal inform, entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA starts now.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Happy Wednesday, folks, It's the bloom Daddy Experience. Sam and
otis here on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA. It is
a Wednesday. Thank you for kicking it off with us.
Of course, with it being a Wednesday, coming up in
the eight o'clock hour, of course we have politics unleashed
with Elgin and Tony in the house. I'm going to

(00:44):
pose this question to you right off the bat, which
I'm going to of course post to them. But I
want to get you thinking and I want to get
you involved this morning, and by that, here's our phone
number one eight hundred sixty two for eleven seventy or
you can text us seven zero four seven zero. Here's

(01:05):
my question tonight, the President is going to speak to
the nation. What do you want to hear from him?
Do you want to hear a year in review simply
from the President and the accomplishments of this administration. Do
you want to hear plans for next year? Do you

(01:28):
want clarification on the announcement of Venezuela yesterday they came out.
Do you want to hear about the economy, the struggles
and the concerns that citizens have with you know, financials.
What do you want to hear from the president? As
I said, I'm going to pose that question to our

(01:50):
political commentators in Politics Unleashed coming up, But I want
you to put your thinking hats on as a citizen,
as a taxpayer, what do you want to hear from
the it? As I said, you can call us one
eight hundred and six to fort eleven seventy or it's
on our Facebook page also, so please go on there
and comment. Or then of course there is our text

(02:11):
line seven zero four seven zero. Start the message off
with bloom daddy. All right, So I'm putting you to
work this morning because honestly, we're coming close to a
Christmas break and now I'm tired of working. No, I'm kidding. Oh,
del there's a little bit of truth in that, don't
you think, otis there's a little grain of.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Truth, And oh absolutely, I mean it's called your end burnout.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, yes, I don't think I'm alone in that.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
No, I know there's I already know about fifty people
that are on your end burnout.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, I don't know what it is. For some reason,
this year, it's even it feels even more extreme.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Well, you know, speaking with one of my coworkers. 're
a couple of my coworkers in my other job, and
one of our responsibilities that we were required to do
a couple of times a year is we are required
to do underage compliance checks and over the course of
the year, so that's when we said we go in
or we send an underage in with another agent that

(03:15):
witnesses it and they try to get a buy at
at a bar, restaurant, a carry out or whatever. I've
been at this job long enough that I do not
like doing compliance checks in November and December because I
don't want somebody to get a fine right before Christmas,
especially somebody that is working a minimum wage job.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
And his heart grew three sides.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
We've kind of realized the one year we did compliance checks,
nobody got a ticket. There were a couple buys, but
nobody got tickets. And then that's when we I think
the following year we decided that we're just not going
to do them. And I mean it costs us money
because we get paid time and a half for that,

(03:58):
so it's an overtime shift. But I think in the
grand scheme of things, the last thing we want to
do is is cite somebody, you know, because they're gonna
get a They're gonna get a ticket from the state police,
and that's going to be about three hundred dollars. So
the last thing you want to do is find somebody
three hundred dollars right before Christmas, especially an employee of

(04:19):
a of a of a chain, you know that. And
then in the long run is they're probably going to
lose their job too for selling to an underage. So
we've decided that unless we are forced to do it,
you know, I mean, you have you have certain situations,
I mean you have you have, especially like in Morgantown,
you have people that take advantage of that. So like
if you're banging the right, if you're going out and

(04:42):
you're going to get a guy, you know, a bar
owner that is constantly violating the rule and just doesn't
care and keeps paying the fine, keeps paying the fine.
That's a different story. But the person that suffers the
most is the bartender. The owner doesn't. So unless you
can get the owner, it's working, you know what I mean,
unless you can double dip them, then it's not worth Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yeah, because as you said, the general worker is going
to pay for everything in the end, right.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
And so you know, we we've decided. You know, so
you get into December and nobody wants to do anything
you in our other jobs because like you do routine
inspection in well, that gets that gets old and boring
after a while. Yeah, and it's just like it's groundhol kit.
You just go to a different location. It's just it's
but it's groundhol day, day in and day out. And
I'm not complaining by any means, but you know it's

(05:34):
the attitudes change come January February.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Well, and you and I, I mean, in our situation
that we have here. It's a little bit unique between
Otis and I because he has what he calls his
real job, which is a second job.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Obviously that's my first job.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
This is my second well there, yeah, okay, I like
to put myself first out.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Well no, but I mean the job that pays your well,
but it's it's your health insurance that you're retired minutes
everything else. I don't have that here.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah, that's primary, and so you have that situation. I
have my situation here where I do this in the
morning and then I flip a switch and then I'm
the senior marketing consultant for the radio stations. So that's
a lot of responsibility there. And it just feels like
this year, it's it's been a very tall wall, if

(06:24):
you will. And I feel like for the past about
three weeks, I've been beating my head against that wall,
and I'm ready for a break, you know.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
And I think, you know, people may not realize what
goes into doing a show like this. Yeah, you know,
especially when you get into something like East of Higher
Regional Hospital or whatever. You know, we're doing some research
and we're trying to get in behind the scenes, and
we're trying to do this, and we're trying to do that.
You know, it's not just all There are segments where

(06:52):
we're kind of like, we'll start talking about something like
right now, and we kind of go off the rails. Yeah,
and you we kind of ad lib where we're going,
or we tell a story, or we do this, or
we do that. But for the most part, I mean
there's show prep every day, and then there's post stuff, and.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
There's scheduling and balancing in people's count.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yep you know. Sometimes you know, we can't always interview
somebody every twenty seven and nine am, because like when
we interviewed Chevy Chase, he was on the West Coast,
so I mean we had to we actually had to
come back in and do that interview at like one
o'clock in the afternoon, So that that throws a wrinkle
into the rest of your schedule. And you know, I
mean not that it gets old, but it kind of
can wear on you a little bit.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Well. And the other thing is like like today talking
about you know, mentioned the political segment that's coming up
at eight o'clock listen. I get a. Politics are a
huge part of talk radio, but sometimes taking that on
is a lot because it's it's negative, it's negativity, and

(07:55):
we deal with.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
The stories of the shootings and the staffs and you know,
the rob ronners and in the in the Australia, you
know everything, you know, you deal with that every day,
and then it's like we're local, but we still have
to touch on some national stuff.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
You know, and so it does get heavy on you.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
And if you're I mean, I get it. If my
parents are both school teachers at this time of year,
especially younger kids, these kids that they're ready for Christmas,
they want to get out. You're not teaching them anything
because they're all hyped up.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
That's how I am right now. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
So I mean, if you're a teacher out there, we
get it. We know what you're going through, and you're
ready for this two week break or whatever you're going
to get.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yeah, and this isn't to be like woe is us?

Speaker 4 (08:35):
That?

Speaker 3 (08:35):
No, absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
No, I don't even know how we got to this point,
got to this point, but yeah, I honestly burnout is uh,
it's real and it's there. And you know, if if
we knew we were going to talk about this, maybe
would have had some statistics and an expert on to
talk about it, but wasn't planning on going this route.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
But just one of those there you go, we have
show prep and the first segment just went right out
the window. So there you go, yeah, yeah, and you
go like this, here's the papers and right into.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
The toilet exactly. But coming up, listen, we do have
we do have some fun on tap. We've got a
couple family four packs for the twenty eighth of December
game for the Nailers that's Skate with the t Skate
Nails with the Nailers, which is on a Sunday. We
have two family four packs of those, and we've got

(09:25):
two pairs for a Taylor family Christmas. And of course
it's Wednesday, so it's free lunch. Get your registrations in
Sam at iHeartMedia dot com. That's Sam at iHeartMedia dot com, name,
phone number, in place of employment. And of course all
the food is courtesy of our friends at River City.
We deliver it on Friday.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
And if you win today you will be our last
winner of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yes, you will end it for the year. So get
in your registrations. It's seven sixteen. You're listening to the
bloom Daddy Experience here on news radio eleven seventy w
WVa seven twenty one. Welcome back on your Wednesday, the
Blundaddie Experience. Sam and otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA

(10:15):
gonna mention again politics suddenlyash coming up in the eight
o'clock hour, but posing a question to you. We're going
to get into this of course during the segment, but
think about this. Put on your thinking caps. President Trump
is going to address the nation tonight. What topics do
you want to hear him speak about? The economy, the

(10:37):
fentanyl designation as a weapon of mass destruction, immigration, the economy,
as I mentioned, you know, what do you want to
hear him speak upon.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
He's not going to talk about any of that. He's
just going to talk about what he's accomplished in his
first think Yep, it's just going to be a recap
and then it's going to be cyonara until January second.
All right, well January fourth or whatever that Monday first
Monday is okay.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Well if if if you agree with otis, but you
think that's a letdown, let us know. Of course, you
can call us one hundred and sixty two for eleven seventy.
You can text us seven zero four seven zero. Start
the message off with bloom daddy.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I'm not going to say that. He's not going to say, hey,
you know, we are working on getting this done to
help bring the cost of health care down, or we're
working you know, while some prices have GMed down, we're
you know, I'm I'm not going to say that he's
not going to try to push people in the right
direction for something, but I think it's going to be

(11:36):
I think the majority of it's going to be a
recap of how successful the first.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Year was, pat on the back situation.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
He's going to pat himself on the back because that's
what he does. And you know, then he'll go on
like so so called Christmas break. You know, I mean,
you're never on vacation, but you're out of the White
House and maybe getting away from it and you're going
to spend your Christmas with your family and so on
and so forth, but probably in mar A Lago.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
You think he has burnout. I don't think that.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
I don't know about Trump because my man is like,
he's like the energizer bunny.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Should you imagine trying to keep up with that.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
What they ought to do is after this beach the
night is just take his phone away from him, you think.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Or close down his Twitter account.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Or whatever, because he can't keep his he can't keep
his finger shut or his mouth.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Shut, high hole shut.

Speaker 6 (12:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Yeah, he's a keyboard warrior. There's no doubt about them. Now,
that doesn't make him. You know, look, I guess I
wish there are times that I had the grapes that
he has to put out there what he does. But
I'm not the president of the United States, and I
don't have a billion dollars in the bank, So yeah,

(12:53):
it's a little tough for.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Me different circumstances. Yeah, yeah, well that that's that's one thing.
You know, we we kind of hit on it yesterday
and again we're going to hit on it with with
Elgin and Tony. You do have to give the man
credit for being willing to sometimes say what others are

(13:16):
afraid to say because of the criticism, because of the ridicule.
I mean, you you kind of he doesn't sugarcoat, he
doesn't dance around, he doesn't he's not afraid to say
what he thinks and it gets him in trouble or
you know.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I mean, I think everybody's in agreement that the rob
Erner comments were uncalled for. I mean, if you want
to mention that it's a tragedy, but then don't get
into the personal part of it. I mean, because rob
roner did not like Trump. Okay, so no, the guy didn't.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Like you and he but the guy lost his life.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Yeah, just let it go. Just say, hey, such a
sad shit situation that we lost this person, and leave
it at that, you know, prayers out to his family.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
You just just the simple, yeah, straightforward anthing that it
worked for Thumper and Bambi. You probably have no idea
what I'm referencing.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Well, you're talking about Bambie, but I recognize the names.
I just well it.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Thumper's mother said, if you don't have anything nice to say,
don't say anything at all. And Thumper says that to you.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Actually, when somebody passes away at the.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Hands of their own child, I mean, well, yeah, especially
if they're murdered their throats. So but we're going to
talk about all of that a little bit later. Of course,
as I mentioned in the political segment, what are you
laughing at politics Unleashed? What did I say?

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Yeah, politically say yeah that one.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
You know again, people, the wheels are winding down in
my brain. I'm counting the days, counting the days, and
I'm not strike yeah, yeah, and I'm not afraid to
say it. I'm not afraid to say it. But have
you seen this? So the big conversation, uh that everybody's

(15:14):
been talking about which, by the way, I've actually had
this conversation with some businesses about how it's affecting them financially.

Speaker 7 (15:22):
The the the penny situation have you come into Have
you been to anywhere where they're they just like round
up and they won't take the pennies or whatever's going on?

Speaker 3 (15:36):
What's the best way to I was at a chain.
I don't know if you want to call it a
restaurant or a fast food, I'll just say it's a
dairy queen.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Okay, that's where I was.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Yep, And they had a sign due to a penny
shortage that if your total comes if your total ends
in a one or two, we will round down. If
it ends in a three or four, we will round up.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yes, the same thing happened to me at pennies.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
If you're it comes to five dollars in twenty two cents,
they're going to charge you five to twenty. If it
comes to five dollars in twenty three cents, they're gonna
charge you five in a quarter.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Here's my question. Though they didn't take all the pennies
off the street.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
No, there's no penny shortage, okay, thank you.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
So here's why I bring this up because there's an
auction house called Stax Bowers who sold the last pennies
ever minted in America, Okay, for sixteen point seven to
six million dollars. Earlier on December twelfth, the auction house

(16:33):
handled two hundred and thirty two three coin sets for
the United States men, each containing a twenty twenty five penny,
a twenty four care gold penny, well that makes a difference,
and a twenty twenty five d penny for Denver from Denver.
Each of the set featured in an omega symbol marking

(16:54):
their historic significance as the final pennies in a tradition
dating two seven seventeen ninety three. Really over fifteen million
dollars for pennies, the.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Final ones minted. I can understand that those are the
last ones to be pressed, so I can get it.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
That still seems a little high.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
It's way high, all right.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Let's dow our first chance to win this morning. We
have a family four pack to see the Nailers on
December twenty eighth.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
That's a Sunday.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
That's a Sunday December nail skate with the Nailers. The
twenty eighth it's a family four pack one in hundred
six two four eleven seventy one eight hundred six two
four eleven seventy. Let's do caller number fifteen. Caller number fifteen,
one in hundred sixty two four eleven seventy. You're listening

(17:42):
to the bloom Diaddy Experience here on news radio eleven
seventy WWVA seven thirty six on your Wednesday, the bluem

(18:04):
Daddy Experienced. Sam and Otis, News Radio eleven seventy WWVA Otis.
I didn't have to bundle up like the abominable snowman
this morning. It was, uh, it's a bombing forty something degree,
so it was. It actually did feel like a heatwave
this morning. Oh so it's not as chilly as it

(18:25):
has been folks. Congratulations to Steve from Moundsville, our first
winning winner of the morning.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
And Steve says he listens every day. So Steve, I'm
going to tell you something. I told you we were
going to email the tickets today. If you have won
hockey tickets this week, they were going to be emailed
this weekend.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
A little bit of miscommunication, sorry this.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
I thought Sam already had the tickets in her email,
but the sales rep that handles the nailers tickets will
not email them out until the weekend because of some
prior commitments. Yes, so sorry about that. Don't look for
him today. Don't panic if you don't get them right.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
They are coming, just they're just a little bit of
a delay. So little clarification there. And and for the
folks that won yesterday or the.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Day before or whatever, yea, if you're actually listening, we
hope you are.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
We hope you are. With that being said, there's more
chances free to win. We've got another set of nailers
coming up, and then of course we've got Taylor family
Christmas coming up very shortly. But what I haven't mentioned
yet this morning is are stuffed stalking spectacular?

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Yeah, you don't have to buy anything to be registered.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
No, no, you don't have to buy anything. Now we'd
like to do things that, you know, the the appropriate way.
We'll say here, Yeah, listen, it's full of all kinds
of goodies. We have great businesses that got on board
with us, and it is as when I say it's stuffed,
it is stuffed. We've got I don't want to listen

(19:50):
them all. Go watch my absolutely ridiculous video on our
Facebook page where I talk about it.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
You know, but we got your friend, we got Kurt Diversity,
de Luxe toy and Novelty, Jacobson Meats, Golden Ticket Cinemas,
the Pike, forty Dutton Cattle mindset, the Wellness. There's a
new Bluetooth speaker and a Para Joe d Messina tickets.
So there you have it.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
There you go. He had the list short and sweet,
short and sweet to the point. And all you have
to do is get to our text line seven zero
four seven zero. We just need your name, phone number,
email address, and then a holiday or Christmas emoji, whether
it's Santa. You can't forget missus Clause because really she's
the brains in the operation Snowman, any of that kind

(20:31):
of stuff. So Christmas Tree, come on, we all know
missus Claus is the.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
The real Come on.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
You know what I read yesterday? Oh, speaking of Santa,
And I don't know if this is true, but I
read that Santa wore a green suit until Coca Cola
used him as a marketing tool and to suit to
red he Coca Cola was the first company to use

(21:05):
him as as a Yeah, like I just said, yeah,
and that's how he got.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Changed money for that.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
I don't know what would you charge for that?

Speaker 3 (21:18):
At least one hundred with Coca Cola, I'm going big.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Oh yeah, yeah, you know. Or maybe he just charged
milk and cookies, but a milk or cookies and coke
Coca cola, that's what we mean. Oh but anyway, so.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
What the kinks? You ever heard the song Lola where
they spelled lola and cola?

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Oh? Yes, yes, okay, yeah that what?

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Oh yeah I figured you would.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Oh but anyways, speaking of Christmas Day football, it's going
to be on.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
Netflix on Netflix. Netflix Now have Netflix and you want
to watch football?

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Guess what your sol.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah, get a subscription for a day and cancel it again.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
I am so sick of for a month.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
I mean, you're gonna pay for a month, so you
might as well watch it for a month. Yep, binge
watch everything on Netflix in thirty days.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Oh, good luck with that. It is so fractured. Watching
sports at this point has become so fractured because of
all the different platforms. But anyways, Snoop Dogg is going
to perform during the halftime show. Uh, it's going to
be the game. It's when Minnesota takes on Detroit. And
let's see here. The show is called Snoops Holiday Halftime Party.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
All the players will come out in second half. They'll
get a contact high.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yeah. Really, it's gonna have special guests that have not
yet been announced. It's gonna be Martha, it's.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Gotta be I think it's gonna be somebody musical or
somebody and maybe somebody.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
It's probably Eminem I would it's Detroit.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
No, it's going to be in Minneapolis. It's a stadium.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see that part.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
So maybe Morris Day in the time.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
You don't think it'll be like another West Prince, Well, no,
that's going to be a hologram. That would be impressive.
You don't think it'll be another West Coast.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Oh, I'm sure he'll rapper. Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean,
I don't know who it's going to be, but it's
probably you know, they're gonna probably Doctor Dre could be there.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
Yeah, I'm looking who did it last year? Wasn't it Beyonce?
Last year?

Speaker 3 (23:43):
I'd rather watch a game, so I wouldn't know. I'd
rather watch this one either.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Beyonce. Well, he made a statement. Do you want to
read his do your best Snoop I personation?

Speaker 3 (23:55):
There's no way I could do it.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
We're serving up music, love, and good vibes for the
whole world to enjoy. That's the kind of holiday magic.
Santa can fit in a can't fit in a bag,
can't fit in a bag. It helps if you read
it right, too.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Ready to drop it like it's hot.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Let's see here. Netflix streams the Cowboys versus the Commanders
at won and then this game, the Lions versus the
Vikings at four thirty.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Well, there you go. You get a Netflix subscription for
the month, and you get two football games for the
price of one. There you go.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
You don't have Netflix, do you?

Speaker 3 (24:31):
I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
You're not sure.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
I had it at one point in time, but there
was a little I was sharing a password.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Oh oh that's right. That's right. So yeah, I got you.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
But I haven't been on for so long. I don't
even know if it all works anymore.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Netflix has some good shows.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
They do. There's I mean, there's a lot of good shows.
You know. It's funny because the algorithm, so like I
go to Amazon Prime sometimes, yes, since since I pay
for it and never watch it. I'll go on in
there and try to find something. Yeah, well I was
watching I was watching something about World War two.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
And Hitler and oh so now you're getting.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
So now everything on my recommended for you, uh huh
is either Nazis, Hitler, world War two. And then there
was I watched something about the most Dangerous Criminals or
something now and then that's the second algorithm. It's everything

(25:31):
like there's Ted Bundy, there's John Wayne Gacy, there's I
mean not only serial killers, but it's just criminals.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
And I'm like, just violence in general.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Like if people were like, what do they think, I'm
gonna like if somebody actually paid attention, Like they're going
to think, what the hell is this guy thinking? Oh?

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Yeah, my parents when they go to Florida. Initially they
don't anymore, but they were using my subscriptions and they
would log in under meat. Same thing. Everything was serial
kill her stuff. How to kill your husband was one
of them.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
And now you're working on your alibi.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, Ted Bunny like all this kind of stuff. And
I still remember my mother calling me going what is
with your And I said, don't judge, don't judge because
She's like, this is actually kind of a scary look
into the inner workings of your mind.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
So yeah, and you know, I'm I'm not. I'm fascinated
with World War two, more so the European than.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
The Pacific, as most men are.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
And so that's there are certain things that kind of
catch your interest, and you know, even if you don't
watch it, but you just look and see what it's about,
and like how long it is and if there's if
it's an episode or if it's just one show, or
then the next thing you know, you're in the You're
in the algorithm.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Oh yeah, and they catch you and then.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
You're in that like Nurmberg trial. I'm like, God, people
are gonna think I'm a Nazi.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Then you're in that unending loop. I'm so bad that
I've run out of us serial killers and now I'm
being fed through the algorithm British serial killer.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
You're gonna kill your husband someday anyway, You've already planned that.
All you need is a date that you get everything
ready to go.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
I gotta get those insurance documents signed first.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
We're kiddying, We're kiddy, we're joking.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Good God, Good Lord, Good Lord. Watch my husband. Never mind,
I'm not even gonna put it out there.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
They're in the mind. They're going, hey, you know what
your wife's talking about.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
You can't hear you?

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Oh shoot. Prior to the break, we were talking about
Snoop Dogg and kind of got into a little bit
of music. Did you see this? The Rolling Stones have
canceled their planned twenty twenty six stadium tour. It was
going to take place across the UK and Europe. They're
postponing due to Keith Richards, who turns eighty two this week,

(30:06):
being unable to commit to the demanding schedule, laughing, I
hear they're here.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
Oh okay, now we got to shut the door because
they're going to yack out there.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
I got you. Yeah, Is that a shocker or what
I mean?

Speaker 3 (30:26):
No, I mean it's not. I mean Keith Richards. I'm
surprised he's eighty two. I thought he was like one
hundred and eighty two.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Keith Richards and Twinkies they will outlast everybody.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
But you ever see the there's memes out there that
it says famous guitarists as kids, and it's got like
you know whoever, Jimmy Hendrick, and then it shows Keith
Richards today today.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
In all your concerts. Have you ever seen the Stones?

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Twice?

Speaker 5 (30:51):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Oh? Sawm once in Pittsburgh, once in Cleveland, Cleveland last summer.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
I was gonna say, weren't they just in the area?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Okay, yep, So, but I saw him. I thought it
was River. I thought I saw him in three River
Stadium in eighty eighty eight or eighty nine. It had
to beat eighty nine. And then I saw him last
year in Cleveland. So I mean, I like the Stones.
They're not like I'm not going to go out of
my way, but I went the first time I went

(31:23):
to see him. I went to see him because I
wanted to say I saw him. Yeah, I mean as
a music roll legends, Yeah, I mean, let's are they
my go to when I go see him again? Probably not?

Speaker 2 (31:35):
They? Okay, don't look at me like I'm not. They
sing Painted Black, right, Okay, that's the one Stone song
that I really really like. But they are not one
of my favorite.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
You know, I was as a kid, I wasn't a
Rolling Stones fan. And then when I was in junior high,
I got hired by my dad too. Ain't a couple
of classrooms at tried to for you junior high and
that was my summer job. You know. I was cheap labor,
like it was two dollars an hour, or it was

(32:09):
ten dollars a day or something. It was something stupid
and that no painter would do. But one of the teachers,
who was actually my basketball coach in the eighth grade,
he had some cassettes and so I would I had
a cassette player and I would bring it to the
room and he gave me the Stones tattoo. You tape

(32:33):
and which would have been in the early eighties, and like,
there was a handful of songs like I really like.
I was like, man, I can't believe I really liked
the Stones, you know, and it, I mean it was
good in the potentially down the road. There were a
few other songs that I kind of liked. Undercover of
the Night that was out when I was in high
school and things like that. But yeah, as far as

(32:56):
like but it gave me a more more. It became
more of a music official on NADO in junior high
thanks to one my missus Randolph, my music teacher. Yeah,
and because she introduced us to the Beatles, and of
course we were we were in junior high and I

(33:17):
was in her class when we found out John Lennon
was shot. Oh yeah, so you know that's you know,
you're you're in the seventh grade and that happens or
eighth grade.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Maybe the anniversary of that was just a couple of
weeks again is.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
Number eighth I think? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
So anyway, I'll tell you what, Mick Jagger is an
example that no matter what you look like as a
musician and Steven Tyler wow, yikes, and still to this day,
he's Mick Jaggers had what three or four wives or something,
who knows, but yeah, prime example of if you can

(33:54):
play guitar and sing in a microphone, you can Nah,
you can get I guess. Oh my goodness, it sounds
like a party in the area. Oh I'm cackling too,
y'all didn't hear that? Otis is putting his foot down

(34:16):
to the to the guests out there, Oh goodness, we
just aligent, just eligent.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
She's a little worked up.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Well, yeah, she's got some issues. We'll just leave it
at that.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
We'll let her explain if she wants to.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Yeah, And of course we're talking about this too, because
coming up next we have politics unleashed. And as I
said at the beginning of the show, posing this question
to you, we want you to call in or text
us of course, or get to our Facebook page. What
do you want to hear from the president tonight? What
do you want to hear him talk about the economy,
the future, accomplishments. We're going to get into all of

(34:50):
that coming up, but before we get to that, we're
going to do it one hundred and sixty two four
eleven seventy a pair of tickets to a Taylor Family
Christmas one hundred sixty four eleven seventy. Where do you
do you? Caller number ten. Caller number ten, Simple and
straight to the point. You're listening to the bloom Daddy
Experience here on news radio eleven seventy WWVA.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Z number one talk show in the Ohio Alley. This
is the bloom Daddy Experience. Your host, bloom Daddy. His
goal inform, entertain and tick people off. The bloom Daddy
Experience on news Radio eleven seventy WWVA starts now.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
Welcome back. It's eight oh six here on the bloom
Daddy Experience. Sam and otis News Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
So they were allow a bit a little bit earlier,
so we thought, what the heck, let's just bring him
in here, put him to work.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Tony and Elgible, good morning, everybody, good morning, good morning,
good morning.

Speaker 6 (36:00):
And good luck.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
I have as yet.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
It's not hard real and you don't have your real Tony.
He's just nice and calm. It's the other factor in
the conversation.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
You're getting the look, you got the look.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
I'm glad she's got her back to me.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
No, Tony Actually, I'm glad he met. I'm glad he
mentioned that because we I was speaking to somebody last
week and they mentioned you and they love what you
add to the show and set. What was the comment
said that you're one of the most calm voices of

(36:38):
reason they've heard on radio in a very long time.
So I thought that was a very nice compliment.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
Is maybe you.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
Should start a podcast?

Speaker 6 (36:47):
Oh boy in time?

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Yes, And I even said, I said, you know what,
it's funny. I have known Tony for a long time now,
and I have tried to get Tony worked up using
commentary on football, and I can't even get him worked
up talking about football.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
So hold on, hold on one second. We have breaking news.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
We do.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
It's Elgin's birthday.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Oh I didn't know that.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
Happy birthday, Elgin.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Okay, thank you, Tony. You have to see.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
Well you're going to bag us on Friday, so I
think you have to sink today.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
Oh that's right, that's right.

Speaker 6 (37:24):
Scheduling issue that I thought the karaoke was happening today.
Apparently it's not. It's Friday, but happy birthday, Elgia.

Speaker 5 (37:32):
Yeah, well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
It is Friday, which you know it's going to be
just beautiful Christmas girls. All right, Yeah it is. It
is the best radio around that particular day.

Speaker 6 (37:45):
All right.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
So let's get into some political talk. Of course, I
want to hit on this one first. We talked about it.
Blue Daddy talked about it yesterday. I hit on it
a little bit. Otis is touched on it. But I
want to get your commentary on the comments by President
Trump on his true social post about the murder of

(38:07):
Hollywood director producer robern Or. I was gonna say, Carl,
that's his dad, along with his wife. So you know,
some people are torn on it. He's getten a lot
of negative responses to what he had to say. So
Algina wanna throw to you first, what were your thoughts.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
My thoughts are, anytime somebody passes, it is not the
time nor place to bring up anything negative. I think
he was a father, he was a son, he was
a brother, He's a human being. Everybody should be laid
to rest with some peace. And I don't think that

(38:52):
it is the time or place to air out your
dirty laundry. It's it's it's almost you know, not that
you can't ever wished somebody to be dead. I mean,
it's it's just not it's not appropriate, it's not kind,
and I think that the comments should have just been restrained.

(39:13):
I mean, you can think that you can say that later.
I think, wasn't there something similar when McCain died, If
there was some sort of off, off the hand comment
about him.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
Was there? Otis is shaking his head, Yes, yeah, there was.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
Yeah, I don't remember exactly what it was. But that's
just not it's not the time of place, and that's
that's just my personal opinion. I just don't think anybody
should be wish dead well, and.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
That doesn't make you, you know, not a Trump supporter.
There's a time and place for politics, and it's not
right exactly Tony.

Speaker 6 (39:51):
At large, I agree with what Elgin said. That's not
the time and it's not something he should have said.
It doesn't help the situation. He kind of made it
about him. As reports are coming out, it's clear the
man and his wife were murdered. The person who's the suspect.
Do they have in custody right now is their son?

Speaker 5 (40:09):
Their own child?

Speaker 6 (40:09):
Yeah, which adds even more we'll say stickiness to the situation.
And he didn't know that at the time. The words
that he used in that almost we're trying to justify
whoever did it. They had good reason to do it,
Like he took it as their things that they've said
and done as personal attacks, and they sort of had

(40:30):
this coming. It was gross. It just was this was
and there was not the time, not the place. And
that's one of the dangers of social media. It comes
to your head, to your fingers, out into the world
and there's no taking it back. And it was just
it was a bad look, to say the least.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Well, in some of my comments yesterday were that, you know,
when when Charlie Kirk was assassinated, conservatives across the country
and not just conservatives, just in general, people were disgusted
by that act, and a lot of the commentary that
came out, whether it be by a random person on
social media or you know, Jimmy Kimmel and that whole

(41:07):
side of the conversation that we were angry, you know,
the conservatives were angry angered by that. Well, in turn,
when you have to but it's what's good for the
goose is good for the gander, is what I'm getting at.
But you know, I got right, Yeah, but I'm what

(41:30):
I'm saying is the judgment. You know, the criticism, and
I got a lot of feedback saying, you know, this
isn't attacking Trump about this isn't worth the time of
the media, and and you know Trump has been attacked
from day one, and uh, Ryan are called in this
and calling that. I understand all of that, but I
think just on a human level, when somebody dies, or

(41:54):
somebody is murdered, or an assassinating assassination attempt like what
was on Trump's life is committed as humans, we need
to stop finding justification for these horrific acts.

Speaker 6 (42:09):
We certainly do. And also what I've seen is a
lot of well what about what this person said or
that person said, Look, you can control your own behavior.
You have no It's like, you know, I've got two
kids and if something goes and there like, well you
started it, I don't care who started it. You control
your own behavior, You react accordingly. You conduct yourself in

(42:31):
a manner that is a the manner in which you
want other people to. You be the example. You follow
that example, you walk the walk, and other people are
going to follow you. But don't start blaming other people
because you didn't control your own behavior. What you say
what you do that's under your control. You got to
work to do You got to work to contain that
and be the example you are calling out other people

(42:54):
to be.

Speaker 5 (42:54):
You can't control what other people do.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
You can just control how you react, absolutely, And that's
I tell that to my clients all the time, and
that that's something you should in the Golden rule.

Speaker 5 (43:05):
And it's not it's not rocket science. It really isn't.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
Well, and there seems to be this mentality of this
this uh tit for tat reactionary mentality that we have
going on. Well, he said A, so we're gonna say B.
Well you said B, so we're going to say C.
And it's just like back and forth. And that's what
is exhausting for people, because nobody's ever gonna win.

Speaker 6 (43:28):
No, it's a great way to burn everything down, right, Yeah,
by doing that, there'll be nothing left if we as
a society continue with that mentality, right.

Speaker 5 (43:36):
I mean, And that's that's where we are.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
That's where where we are in Congress, that's where are
you know politics, people are so dug in and polarized
that it's it's very difficult to get anything done well.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
And when you see that and and those statements and
and different things like that are read by somebody, for example,
the the Brown University shooter. You know, there's so many
people out there, were so many mental illnesses. They read
these different statements by different leaders and that And I'm

(44:08):
not saying that this person, you know, but that then
fuels their anger and hatred then leads to what we're
seeing across the nation.

Speaker 4 (44:15):
And I think that's where Tony's point on social media.
It just it just instantaneous. You see something, you react,
you type, it's out there. You can't retract it. I
think the shelf life for something on the internet's ten
years really before it starts to dissipating the away.

Speaker 6 (44:33):
That's a long time.

Speaker 5 (44:34):
That is a long time.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
And if you if you dig, you can find right yeah.

Speaker 6 (44:39):
But if you don't put it out there, no one
can find it.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
Right.

Speaker 6 (44:42):
Yeah. You got to control yourself, restrain yourself.

Speaker 2 (44:44):
One of the hardest things sometimes is my mother always said,
just bite your tongue absolutely, which you.

Speaker 5 (44:49):
Do with Thumper's mom.

Speaker 4 (44:51):
If you can't say anything nice, don't say nothing at all.

Speaker 3 (44:55):
Oh my god, I said, it's a two time reference today.

Speaker 4 (44:57):
Really, I love Thumper. He's my favorite Disney character.

Speaker 2 (45:04):
Oh that's so funny. That's so funny. Goodness, it's eight fifteen.
You're listening to the bloom Daddy Experience. I'm gonna leave
this with YouTube to think about. I put this to
the listeners. We're gonna hear from the President tonight. What
do you want to hear him talk about? What topics?
The future, the accomplishments. What do you think we're gonna
hear from the president. Think about that. It's eight sixteen.

(45:25):
You're listening to the bloom Daddy Experience here on news
Radio eleven seventy WWVA eight twenty one on your Wednesday.
Welcome back the bloom Daddy Experience. We are right in

(45:46):
the middle of politics unleash. But I want to remind
you get in your lunch registrations samat iHeartMedia dot com.
That's Sam at iHeartMedia dot com, name, phone number, in
place of employment. We're going to be drawn that winner
here at the end of the show. And of course
that is free lunch that we deliver on Fridays from
our friends at River City, So get your registrations in

(46:09):
for that, and of course don't forget coming up next,
we're going to have another chance for you to win.
We've got another four pack to the game on the
twenty eighth for the Wheeling Nailers, So that is coming
up here very shortly. All right, guys, let's get back
into the conversation about politics. So before the break I
mentioned that tonight, of course, the President is going to
be speaking to the nation. I think it's at nine o'clock, right, yeah,

(46:32):
right there, it is nine o'clock for the primetime address.
So what do we want to hear from the president?
Do we want to hear a recap of the year?
Do you want to hear you know, goals for twenty
twenty six, Venezuela, fentanel, you name it. What do you
think we're going to hear first?

Speaker 6 (46:49):
So, Tony, I don't know what he wants. I don't
know what he wants to talk about.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
It, that's what we're laughing at.

Speaker 5 (46:59):
That face was priceless.

Speaker 6 (47:01):
Yeah, I don't know what he wants to talk about.
My instinct when he says he wants to speak is don't.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
Speak your mind.

Speaker 6 (47:06):
Don't do don't do it, don't Well, it's not so
much don't speak your mind, but usually when he has
something to say on a topic, what he does, if
it's not well prepared, it's it. It doesn't He just
not doesn't make things better. It doesn't turn the temperature down.
And that's really what I want. That doesn't mean i'd rather,

(47:30):
you know, do the work, but I'm concerned about what
he is going to say, because no matter the topic,
he has a tendency to not make things better by
speaking about it. Whether you agree with him or not,
he just I don't see it now. I don't know
what the topic is specifically. It may be something he
needs to address, but I don't know what it is

(47:50):
he has to say about. People have been speculating. I'm
not going to do that. I'll react to what he
says when he says it. So that's the caveat here
is that I don't know what the topic is, and
it maybe something he needs to address, but my first
instinct is please, no, don't. You don't need to. You
don't need to.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
I think what it is that Tony is trying to say,
and I don't want to put words in your mouth,
but it's topic and tone. It doesn't matter what the
topic is if the tone is appropriate. So I would
think that he's going to talk past present in future.
I would hope that he doesn't continue to bring up

(48:29):
the last administration, because that that's everybody does it, every
president has on it.

Speaker 5 (48:35):
But just don't just just.

Speaker 4 (48:36):
Just here's where, here's where we It's been too no
one years year, a little less than a year, so
a year ago took over and this is this is
where we were. You know, he can draw comparisons. You know,
this was inflations and I think numbers are going to
be there.

Speaker 5 (48:54):
The borders closed.

Speaker 4 (48:56):
I think people are going to want to hear about
the economy and things are changing, but they're not changing
fast enough for those people that are hurting, Like, for example,
gas prices are certainly low. I think that is very recognizable.
If things are not recognizable, issues are not recognizable across

(49:19):
the board instantaneously, like gases, price of eggs, price of milk,
they don't translate into inflation numbers not being high as
high as they were. I think he's going to talk
about midterms because we are approaching. Everybody has to file

(49:40):
in January, so we're going to be coming up to
the midterms and that is primary season, so it's going
I think he's going as a Republican. I think he's
going to set the tone for the Republicans, but they've
got to pay attention for do something, like you said,
pass some laws, you know, quit arguing, quit quit crying,

(50:05):
just do something.

Speaker 2 (50:06):
Well, that's what I was going to point out. Is
this not the opportunity for him to set the the.

Speaker 5 (50:13):
Game plan, the game plan in tone.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
Yeah, for the midterms?

Speaker 4 (50:16):
Yes, I think it is. And one of the things
I did see is that he's suggesting term limits for Congress.
I don't know if you guys saw that, but he
only suggested six years for the House, and I think two.

Speaker 5 (50:29):
Terms for the Senate.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
That's huge.

Speaker 4 (50:33):
I mean that's that's three terms for the House because
they're two year terms. Those are so quick and they turn.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
How do you get anything?

Speaker 5 (50:40):
How do you get anything?

Speaker 4 (50:41):
I think there has to be some sort of continuity
and staggering. They're staggering between the House and the Senate.
But there's no staggering between within the Senate or within
the Oh there is with the Senate.

Speaker 6 (50:55):
The Senate, Yeah, it's not in the House. Yeah, they
split up thirty every two years. The House.

Speaker 5 (50:59):
The entire thing, entire thing is overturned.

Speaker 6 (51:01):
Yeah, and I want to I'm glad if the talk
is about turnloads, I'm okay with that. But one thing
I do want to point out is and there's a
lot of administrations that will do this, and I'm talking
about the person in charge now recently talked about affordability
and how people care about it. They voted on it
in November. He's made comments about how that's fake, it's
made up. Don't gaslight people and tell them that what

(51:22):
they're experiencing isn't happening. Acknowledge what they're going through. People
are going through pain, Acknowledge that, and then tell them
how we understand that things are rough for you. Here's
how we're working to make things better. That's what you want.
You want accountability from people.

Speaker 4 (51:36):
In plain language, as opposed to economic banter. There's just
there is inflation, the numbers, you know, there's a lot
of you know, whether or not mortgage rates are coming down,
which I think they are, but not fast enough. The
Federal Reserve, and there's all kinds of things. But I
think if he hits on it, immigration, it's under control.

Speaker 5 (52:00):
There's the whole ice thing, you know, that's still an issue.
But I think tone.

Speaker 4 (52:06):
Would be the appropriate thought process.

Speaker 5 (52:10):
For this evening. We're doing great, it's beautiful. It's just
a big beat.

Speaker 2 (52:15):
Don't just talk in circles. Yeah, yeah, you know, but
hold that thought because we're up against a hard break.
I'm getting the I'm getting the wave from the man
behind the window, not the curtain. You're not even smiling.

Speaker 3 (52:30):
Otis in the middle.

Speaker 2 (52:33):
I know it's a twenty eight. When we come back,
I have a listener email I want to throw at
you and a couple other things, and we're going to
continue this conversation because I think there's more to hit on,
and also some posts that we've got on our Facebook.
If you want to get on the conversation, of course,
you can call one eight hundred six two for eleven
seventy text us seven zero four seven zero. You're listening
to the bloom Daddy Experience here on news Radio eleven

(52:55):
seventy WWVA eight thirty six. Welcome back on your Wednesday,
the Blue Daddy Experience. Samon Otis news Radio eleven seventy WWVA.
I want to go to a comment we got on
our text line seven zero four seven zero. Of course,
we're in the middle of politics. Unleashed got this one.

(53:17):
It says I was in third grade when Kennedy was
shot and killed. The way the country in the world
came together in sadness, same could be said for September
eleventh for the younger generation out there. However, I believe
that if the same thing would happen to President Trump,
you would not see the same reaction as in nineteen
sixty three. There would be those like us that would

(53:41):
be in mourning, but there would also but there would
be others dancing for joy, which the media would plaster
all over and would show very little of his funeral.
Do you think that would be the case? I don't
think it.

Speaker 4 (53:54):
I don't think it would be a president you do,
I do, And it would depend on the channel, you know, Yeah,
it would depend on the chant.

Speaker 5 (54:00):
I just think that.

Speaker 4 (54:03):
Twenty four hour news, cable news, which is more opinion
than it is just here's the news. Actual reporting has
changed the landscape of reporting. I think I think you
did see that because when he was shot, there were

(54:25):
certain you know, the Mago people, Republicans were all shocked,
but there were still actors and whatnot who were he
probably called for it. Blah blah, blah, you know it again.
I think we said started out the morning by saying
it's never appropriate for either party or either any person
to do that or celebrate. I think when Charlie Kirk

(54:49):
was assassinated there was certainly a huge coming together, but.

Speaker 5 (54:54):
That's sort of kind of petered out.

Speaker 4 (54:55):
Everything has a twenty four hour news cycle, it seems anymore.
I mean, just give it time, it'll go away, and things.

Speaker 6 (55:03):
Move do move really quickly. And rather than speculating on
how people would react, what I would say is I'd
go back to what I brought up at the beginning
of the show. You can't control everybody else is doing,
but you can control yourself how you react and how
you're behaving. And if you demand that of the people
around you, it's gonna have an impact. And that can
if you lead by example and show that, then the
other people around you can show that the people around them.

(55:24):
It can be a positive thing that spreads. And so
I would caution people not to speculate, because what tends
to happen is like, well, if this, then that, and
then you're gonna have this reaction, and then you react
to something that's never happened, you get yourself all charged
up and worked up and just kind of make things worse.
So that's something to keep in mind in this moment

(55:46):
and in going forward, when any of this kind of
thing happens, you have to be reflecting the behavior you
wish to see in other people. I think it's vitally
important that people do that.

Speaker 2 (55:57):
Going back to the question earlier about what you want
to see from the president tonight in his address to
the nation, we got this on our text line. It
says I supported Trump until he unconstitutionally locked down the
country in twenty twenty. We're going back, folks, ovid Yes,

(56:19):
now I want to Now I want to know what
he intends to do about the economy and inflation caused
by his lockdown and made worse by Biden. Prices at
the grocery store are horrible and in an apology for
the crude, cruel, ignorant remarks about Rob Reiner, Okay, we've
kind of addressed that, so I don't want to go
back to the Rob Reiner conversation. But do you think

(56:42):
going back to twenty twenty is a little too far
when it comes to this comment.

Speaker 6 (56:47):
Let's not go back to twenty twenty please. We are
where we are now. He's in a position of power,
he can effectuate change going forward. He's going to say something,
then let us know what you're going to do, how
you're going to handle it, going to make things better
for people. That's his job, that's what he needs to do.

Speaker 5 (57:03):
It doesn't happen. He can't.

Speaker 8 (57:04):
He's not.

Speaker 4 (57:05):
No, I'm going to date myself, and I'm not sure
Otis will know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (57:09):
Oh you know who was the Bewitched.

Speaker 4 (57:12):
It's not like he can twinkle his nose and everything
just snaps into place.

Speaker 2 (57:15):
You know what I'm talking about?

Speaker 3 (57:17):
I do, okay, I've seen Bewitched in reruns.

Speaker 6 (57:21):
Oh yeah, why I have to. I know exactly what
she's referring to.

Speaker 5 (57:26):
But you know, there isn't a magic wand.

Speaker 6 (57:28):
There isn't one but what I think every president should
model themselves off of, or the FDR fireside chats. If
you don't know what those are, you can look back
in history where he was utilizing what was a relatively
new apt bratus the radio at the time, to speak
directly to the American people. I know what's going on,

(57:48):
Here's what things are, here's what we're going to do
to make things better, very very effective.

Speaker 2 (57:54):
Yeah, I think. I think addressing prices and inflation and
the pain as you said, Algin, that people are experiencing
at the grocery store and on, you know, that needs
to be addressed. I mean, because that is kitchen table,
you know, dinner table, that's what that's what is concerning
people right now.

Speaker 4 (58:11):
Absolutely it is kitchen table, but it's also economics that's
a little more complicated than just kitchen table discussions.

Speaker 5 (58:17):
If he can take.

Speaker 4 (58:20):
His tariffs and break it down to simple English and
how tariffs, the effective use of tariffs has brought money in,
because that's that's going to be He's going to highlight
that millions and trillions of dollars have come into the
United States by virtue of those tariffs. And then of
course the other side as well, those tariffs are also

(58:40):
increasing the prices at the store.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
And it's, like I said, it's.

Speaker 4 (58:44):
A complicated supply demand economics equation that if he can
break it down to simple things of everyday life, then
I think people will understand this is this is how
we're going to do it, you know.

Speaker 5 (58:59):
But I I don't know how you simplify that Yeah.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
If it's over complicated, the message is missed.

Speaker 6 (59:04):
Yeah, and it's his job to simplify it. Yeah. And
it's his job to not only say what's going on,
but then you know, show me.

Speaker 2 (59:12):
That's why, that's why we have mister Steve Waters come
in our financial guru and explain all that stuff too too.
The average joe like me that's like, oh okay, yeah,
all right, I want to go to a listener email.
This is from Randy So a little some troubling numbers
here that he gave to us. It's in regards to

(59:34):
a president's first year in office and the number of
bills passed in that first year. And these are troubling,
troubling numbers, but a very good point brought up by
Randy So. In HW Bush's first year, two hundred and
forty two bills were passed. Clinton two hundred and nine,
Bush Junior one hundred and nine, Obama one hundred and twenty.

(59:58):
He says, auto pen Biden. That's kind of funny. You
got to give it to him. One hundred and twenty
two bills passed in the first year President Trump this
year five. The question is, and he didn't really put it,
but I guess I'll kind of fill it in. If
this is the person that the American people put in

(01:00:19):
the office, and his agenda is America First, that is
what people voted for. Congress is stonewalling, Congress is not
getting things done.

Speaker 4 (01:00:32):
I would agree that it's unfortunate not getting enough done.
But I guess my comeback to that would be the
quote unquote Big Beautiful Bill. If you take how many
issues were addressed by the Big Beautiful Bill, I don't know,
I have not read it. I don't know exactly, but

(01:00:52):
the certain highlights have been done, are there. I'm sure
that Big Beautiful Bill addressed more than one issue, and
perhaps in prior administrations Congress was passing one or to
whatever those hundred bills, but they were all addressing different
issues as supposed to packing it all into one one one.
And that's where I think the hang up is because

(01:01:14):
the Republicans said, this big beautiful bill addresses all those
things that he ran on. But then there's bipartisan well,
we want to put this in, and.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
That's where the hiccup comes in. So if you.

Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
Don't do the reconciliations and don't add things here or
take things out, that's where I think. I don't know
that that number is necessarily reflective of the actual number.

Speaker 5 (01:01:38):
Of issues that were addressed.

Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
And I don't know that because I haven't done the research,
but I would bet that it's more than one issue
in that big beautiful bill.

Speaker 6 (01:01:46):
Yeah, I mean, looking at the numbers on their own
doesn't tell you the whole story. But there are a
lot of what they call immunists spending bills, which cover
omnibus spending bills that cover a ton of issues that
a lot of presidents have signed. The bottom line is,
and from my perspective, American people, they don't care what
the excuses are, what's going on in the background. We

(01:02:06):
put you there to do a job. You have to
be accountable to what is or isn't happening. That's what
matters well.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
And I think what what Randy is highlighting with these
numbers is they were put in there to do a job,
and according to past history, compared to what they've done
in this first year, they're not doing the job. Is
kind of possibly, you know what these numbers are highlighted, right.

Speaker 6 (01:02:27):
And what they say a lot in politics, if you're
explaining you're losing, that's a lot of explaining is going on.

Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
Well, if you're listening to us, you're not losing because
we have a chance for you to win. How about that?
That was pretty clever, wasn't it. One eight hundred six
two four eleven seventy one eight hundred sixty two four
eleven seventy. We have a family four pack to the
nailers on December twenty eighth. One eight hundred six two
four eleven seventy. Let's do call. Let's do a big one.
Let's do caller number eighteen, caller number eighteen one, eight

(01:02:57):
hundred six two, four eleven seventy. We get back. We're
gonna wrap up politics Unleashed for twenty twenty five. Folks. Oh,
you're listening to the bloom Daddy Experience here on news
Radio eleven seventy w w VA, eight fifty one. Welcome

(01:03:26):
back to bloom Daddy Experience. Sam otis Elgin, Tony Packed House,
News Radio, eleven seventy w w VA. Congrats to Craig.
Craig is going to the December twenty eighth game, right
game match.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
That's hockey game game.

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
It's I'm not a hockey official honors, I'm i have
one in the house. Elgin absolutely is coach hockey.

Speaker 5 (01:03:52):
Didn't you? I did coach My kids all played.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
She's a she's a man. Oh my god, she's a
woman of many talents, gosh almighty.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
One of them. Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Thanks, you're so kind.

Speaker 6 (01:04:12):
Manky's a great sport. I hope Craig has a great time.

Speaker 4 (01:04:15):
Yes, thank you, Thanks Tony for level headed, nice comments
and being kind.

Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Yes, digging just reacted to what somebody said with.

Speaker 5 (01:04:25):
A fat head.

Speaker 2 (01:04:26):
Okay. Oh. As I mentioned before the break, this is
the last UH Politics on leash for the year. So again,
first of all, thank you to both of you for
your time in doing this with us each week. Tony,
you're new with us this. What do you think so far?
It's not to put you on the spot.

Speaker 6 (01:04:46):
No, I think it's been good experience. And I said
when I started, I wanted to facilitate productive conversation, and
that's still Michael, and I hope that the listeners have
found this to be productive, to be productive, and I
hope it's that going forward.

Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
Yay.

Speaker 4 (01:04:59):
Yes, it's wonderful to have somebody with a productive dialogue
on the other side and to fill in too when
I'm not around, which that might be a lot, and
we expect our bonus checks right under the Christmas tree.

Speaker 8 (01:05:17):
Perhaps, Oh, she was incapacitated, she was unavailable, Santa said,
left the lump of coal in.

Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
Mike, there's no chimneys. There's no chimneys where she was.

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
They don't want anybody to get out, Sannah getting in anyways. Shoot, okay,
speaking of Santa, let's fun political talk. We're going to
try to make it political.

Speaker 5 (01:05:49):
I saw this, I didn't know what my answer was.

Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
So okay, If Santa Claus was a registered voter, what party,
what he belonged.

Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
To, he'd be Democrat because he gives everything for free.

Speaker 6 (01:06:07):
See. I knew that that was wow what she was
going to say. I knew that's what she was going
to say.

Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
I wanted to say to just see if I could
needle you.

Speaker 6 (01:06:15):
Yeah, Well, what I would say about the Santa said,
he's not going to join any parties. I'm not voting
for any of these clowns.

Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
He's the Michael Jordan.

Speaker 6 (01:06:23):
He's been keeping these lists, knows what's going on, and
he says, none of you people are good enough to
get my party affiliation or my vote. You all got
to do better.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
You're all on the naughty list.

Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
It could be like Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan. They asked
Michael Jordan why he wouldn't endorse a certain candidate public
Republicans is shoes too.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Oh that's right. Okay, well, okay, I didn't come up
with this. Just just heads up, this was not my
brilliant question, because there was an actual poll done, no
boy of registered voters. So twenty percent of Americans think
that he would be an independent, which would be the
route I would go, which would be sign you co

(01:07:01):
sign that one. Twenty one percent of Americans think that
he'd be a Democrat, and just twenty percent think that
he would be a Republican. Fifty two percent of Democrats
think Santa would support the Democratic Party, down from sixty
two percent who said this in December of twenty twenty four.
So I guess they must do this poll every year.

Speaker 5 (01:07:25):
I didn't know they did this for Yeah, I didn't either.
It's first I've heard of it.

Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
I want the job where you sit around and you think, okay,
we've got to come up with a ridiculous poll or survey.

Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
I want to be a weather person because you can
be wrong.

Speaker 5 (01:07:38):
Yeah, all the time. And the key word is chance
of scattered.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Yes, possibility maybe right right.

Speaker 6 (01:07:50):
I'm sure their jobs are actually very difficult. For why
real media. I'll just put one thing that's always put
me and this is stupid. Why is it partly cloudy
or partly sonny? Isn't if one then the other's.

Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
Well it's half empty or half full. Oh, we digress.

Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
I hope sexy Xy isn't listening. Jeff x Line that
does our weather in the morning.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
Okay, he has a nickname for him. That's that's his
pet name for him, sexy Xy.

Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
I sent him on. I sent him on a trip
to Europe with a T shirt that said sexy x.

Speaker 6 (01:08:25):
Yep. Gee, that's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
Oh shoot, well think about it, Elgin. It's in January.
We were in d C of this year when it
was free. Yeah. Yeah, for the inauguration. That was just
this year. Because we were Otis and I were talking
yesterday about highlights and this and that, and he was like, well, yeah,
we got to talk about, you know, covering the inauguration.
I said, well, that was last year and he goes, no, no,

(01:08:49):
that was this year.

Speaker 5 (01:08:50):
Boy, that seems like ages again.

Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
You know we do have a text here from Dave
Oh on Elgin's comment about Santa. Oh okay, he says
Santa may give it everything away for free, but he
doesn't suck down the taxpayer willlet to pay for it.
So he's a Republican.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Devo. No, he just has slave labor by the elves.

Speaker 6 (01:09:11):
WHOA, that's a good turn.

Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
He and Lebron James.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Oh, here we go. Wow. Yikes.

Speaker 4 (01:09:22):
Let's see how Tony recovers and is kind about all
those statements.

Speaker 6 (01:09:26):
Say in the new Year, you can't control what other
people do or say. You can control how you react.
Can you react the way you want everybody else around
you to react? To behave?

Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
Okay, well we're gonna go with that, and I want
to talk to you after fun.

Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
I just called elves slave labor. That's pretty dark. Merry Christmas, Wow,
Merry Christmas. Oho. Okay, give me a number. We've got
to do. Uh, we got to do our lunch.

Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
It is, oh, how many do we have?

Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
We have sixteen?

Speaker 3 (01:10:04):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
I think a lot of people are starting their early
holiday holiday breaks.

Speaker 4 (01:10:09):
I get oh, yeah, we're doing Christmas parties and.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
This is I mean, yeah, the winner is fourteen winner
is fourteen.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Okay, we have Diane. Diane is our lucky winner. Diane.
I will get a hold of you after the show
to break down how we'll get you the food and
all of the goodies. So thank you so much for
registering once again, everybody, Thank you for the two of
you for taking your time every Wednesday and spending.

Speaker 3 (01:10:40):
With us most Wednesdays.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Most Wednesdays, Yeah when available.

Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
Yeah, we're holiday the next two weeks.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
But we get you on Friday too.

Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
Yeah, Elgener will be back on Friday.

Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
That's rough, lips sink, Hey can I think? Yeah? Oh,
just turn on the karaoke. All right, we gotta go.
You're listening to the Blue Bed Experience. We'll talk to
you tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (01:11:01):
See you next year.
