saw this. Yesterday, Buck Rogers passed away.

Is that the guy that had the horse?

Oh good god, that's Rory Rogers.

Yeah, the chicken too, right.

Oh my god. Buck Rogers in the twenty fifth century.
It was a TV show in the very late seventies
early eighties. Oh and Gil Gerard played Buck Rogers.

The French actor.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
No, this guy was from like Arkansas. He died at
eighty two. He was battling cancer. The show, actually, I'm sorry.
It was on NBC premiered in nineteen seventy nine. He
reflected on his amazing journey from Arkansas to Hollywood in
his life with White Janet, adding, don't waste your time
on anything that doesn't thrill you or bring you love,

which is a good message. Yeah, it was one of
my favorite shows as a kid. Of course, I was
like eleven or twelve when premiered it. It was as
far as like sci fi was concerned, like it was.
It was kind of neat because like some of the
special effects in nineteen seventy nine, you know, and you're
riding after the Star Wars premiere, you know, right before

the Empire strikes back. But then if you look back
at it, you watch it now, it's very campy. Yeah.
I just Aaron Gray was in it. There was a
little robot named Twiggy, and I can't remember the one guy,
the older guy. He was in. He played in a

couple episodes of Mash, He was in a couple other shows.
He was like a character actor.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Oh one of those faces. Every time you see him,
you go, oh, yeah, that's that guy.

Kind of dried the crap out of me.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
So hold on, what was that guy in? Oh? Yeah, yeah,
I did that all the time. There's the speaking of that.
That's the guy, like the guy who is in all
the movies with Will Ferrell with His.

Name was Tim O'Connor. Yeah, but like I said, he
was kind of a character actor. And Buck Rogers was
a hero in the twentieth century and then somehow he
got he got caught in.

Something of that, so he becomes now he becomes.

Whatever have you? You mentioned going back and watching old
episodes of that and it's kind of like hinky or
you know, comical. Do you ever go back and watch
a movie from like maybe your teenage years and you're like, oh,
it's the best movie ever made? Oh yeah, and he
turned it on and you're like, oh, this is terrible.

I can't remember, Oh god, I can't remember the name
of the movie. I think it was spring Break was
the name of the movie, And there was a character
in there that a friend of mine kept calling another
friend of mine in high school like that that was
the nick he took that nickname from the movie.

Huh.

And like probably went and saw that movie in high
school like five or six times because we thought it
was so funny. And then I saw it like on
a before streaming services came out. I saw it like
on a like it was being rerun on one of
the movie channels or whatever, and I watched it and
it was so bad. It was unbelievable. Like I'm thinking

to myself, how did I go to the movies and
watch this five or six times? Because this movie sucks.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Well, here's one of my favorite Like having a niece, right,
she came and visited me over the summer, and I
was so looking forward to watching the movie Labyrinth with her.
If you remember that Jim Henson and the whole but
I know that, okay, And is it David Bowie that's
in it that's really said yeah, And I'm like, Okay,

we're gonna sit down. I told her, I said, Nolan,
we're gonna sit down. We're gonna watch this movie. This
is my favorite movie. When I was a little girl
like you this and that we're like a half an
hour into it. She looks at me and she goes,
this is really dumb. She goes, those are all puppets
and they're kind of dumb. I was like, oh okay,
and it like it just broke my heart. I was like, oh,

all right, I.

Think my kids would do that. They'd be like this
special effects sock.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
He can't sing. And I remember her saying he's got
bad hair, can't sing or something.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
I was like, all the premise behind Spring Break, four
college friends have a wild time during their spring vacation
in Fort Laudreal, Florida. They all let loose and make
decisions with haunting consequences. It was an absolutely horrible movie.
Not one person in the in the cast that I
actually recognized.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Oh no, no, not even like a young somebody that
oh ot.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Was the person's nickname. It was his name in the movie.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
O t oh. Yeah that doesn't bring a bell at all,
but yeah, just.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
It was totally like if you want to see a
bad movie, like the movie that we were in self
and stink and.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yes and for other people, yes he has an IMDb.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Page, people, So not a great movie.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
You don't say.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
The premise was there obviously a little bit low budget,
a lot of low budget, but still just not this.
This movie may be worse and it made money.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Very rarely does a movie like Hold the Test of Time.
That doesn't matter what decade it was made in. Whenever
you go back and like Field of Dreams is what
pops into my mind. I mean, I don't care. You
can watch it twenty five years from now. It's still
going to be a good movie.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
So spring Break. IMDb gives it a four point nine
out of ten, which is high. Rotten Tomatoes just which
is low.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Roger Ebert gave it one out of four thumbs up.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
That's about the bare minimum. Or can he give zero?

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah, I don't know, zero thumbs up. But if you
want to, if you want to watch a bad movie,
rent spring Break. It will be an hour. And let's
see how an hour and forty two minutes of your
life you will never get back.

Well, that's what people watched it.

I watched it five or six times.

You've watched it that many times?

Oh well, when I was in high school, we went
back to the theater because we thought it was great.
We thought it was the funniest movie you ever made,
and now you sit there. Now I watch it and
I don't even laugh.

Well, that's the difference between teenage humor and adult humor.

And I are probably some bouncing boobies in there as well.

Well, yeah, that always is appealing to teenage boys. Why
does it smell like potatoes in here? The ergandistric just
kicked off and it smells like potatoes.

People were wondering, we have the air conditioner.

On, well, because I like to be freezing cold and
miserable sitting here. But it smells like potatoes. That's strange.

It's always good for radio. Nobody can smell it, and
I can't either.

Can't scratch and sniff the screen, the radio screen. Oh gosh.

a red shirt. It happens to be a red Charlie kirkshirt.
And this customer starts berating this older woman who is working.
She's minding her own business, doing her job, okay. And

this woman starts yelling four letter foul words at her,
wants to talk to her manager. Just this absolutely grotesque
example of humanity. And I just got to say to
Genie Beeman is the worker you are a better woman
than I because you bit your tongue and you did
