here the trophy is actually buckled up right next to him.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
I have to apologize to everyone other than Jason.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Puppet mastering his way to success.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
You smurf and smurf not if you bundle it. Health
of the league.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Knee deep into the waiver wire.
Speaker 5 (00:37):
These are my confessions.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I didn't even know what fantasy football was.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Trying to retie stamps.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Sixth grade me just laughed so many times I developed
like serious soul ties.
Speaker 6 (00:47):
I could care.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
The texts are flying.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Mike was silent on the threat.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
You get lucky Io Trader in the works, I mean.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
The Vikings are winning the Super Bowl. Welcome into the
BTP season four. This is a very special episode Dave
Berger and A. J. Montsour Dan Meyer. The entire trio
is in effect. Later on we'll hear from Scott Riley,
(01:19):
Greg Myers in our Hearts, gentlemen, this is the underdog
episode us misfit Toys in the bottom of the standings.
We are banding together. We are hitting the streets resist
(01:41):
and like Jean Beljean, we are taking down the establishment. Daniel,
We're in this together, aj We'll hear from Scott Riley. Guys,
we need to stick together, arm in arm, sorry, Ben,
(02:04):
we have to take on the upper echelon of this league.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
I feel like we should, and we feel I feel
like we need to create a bulwark of of old
collapsed buildings and and and and carts and and I
see you, Dave standing at the top of it, just
waving the flag back and forth, the BTP flag, deer
(02:31):
head on it.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Ready the cannons telling French, I know that's you. That's
your Jean Beljean.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
From all that.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Three. So yes, we will we we we.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
I think I think this is a great, a great
allegory for our league. Right now, I'm looking across the
the screen here and I see four, well three of
the lowest performers in the league to date. The fourth, uh,
(03:08):
you know, my my brother Greg, you know, are the
same blood flows through me as flows through him, so.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
In fact he's with us, you.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Know, genetically. I'm looking at the four lowest performers in
the Big Ten right now.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
I'm glad you were your blonde wig today you hit
the bill.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Let me just unbutton this this button again your blouse.
You know it. As we were preparing for this a
week I did a deep dive into into Ley miz
Ley Miserrob. You know, it is a story about heartbreak,
(03:50):
about justice. It's a story about uh swinging your beer
Stein What are you doing, Dave.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I'm just I'm trying to cue the music again.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. It's tragedy, it's love,
it's justice, all colliding during an uprising in the streets
of Paris. And though the story takes place, you know,
years ago, we've seen even recently many uprisings still to
(04:23):
this day in the streets of Paris. They must just
like it. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
No kings, no kings, maybe no.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
I think they had to rebrand it to no Tyrants,
so not to offend the kicker, gentlemen. I have a
little bit. I'd like to just kick off the pod here.
It is big ten gms as Layman's characters ready number ten.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
No, no, no, no, I did do that. But I
think your point stands, Dan, is that this is the
point of the year where us misfit toys. The cast
acides the castaways. Wilson, we are nobody's thinking about us.
Nobody has us in there. I'm not in their playoff projection.
(05:13):
Yeah right, well, Dan, sort of. You're on the bubble.
You're a bubble team, right, Uh, win.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Two only Prime and high are win for teams for
the sake of the bit, you're with us, surging, surging, No, genetically,
genetically we're we're for.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
The sake of the bit. You're you're receding and you're
coming back to us. Yes, yes, yes, you're regressing. You're
regressing to us for the sake of the bit.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
I'll take a knee this week.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
You're taking knee, thank you, Colin Kaepernick.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
And I'll do it for I'll do it for leapers.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yes, yes, we are nobody, nobody. Nobody thinks we can
do anything. Nobody, nobody sees us coming. But it's time
we band together and uh and make a run. Somebody's
got to make a run from this group.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Time to make a move. There's there literally is no
more time to waste. Is the time now? Is the
time band together?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I mean not not when you got the game sees
the day open the Gates and sees the day you.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Got prime up there with fifteen wins, like someone's got
to start chopping that down or you know, we're all
gonna end up.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I don't know. So huge episode. We'll hear from Scott Riley,
who's one of us, right, he's in the street, he's
in the French Revolution with us. We we'll here from
We'll hear from Scott, we will hear from Norman in
this episode. We've got a very secret you know you
do you remember, like, what were the Watergate tapes?
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Do you remember the Watergate tapes? Yeah? Yeah, securely recorded
message was the source?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Who is the confidential informant in that one? Dave.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
I'm not gonna say that on this podcast because we
will have to listen, So I'm not gonna say it.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Who was it?
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I want you to think about the Watergate tapes.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
You get a clean audio of this A J's.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Enough, clean audio of me doing all kinds of things.
So we we we acquired this audio in a in
a parking around a parking garage near Washington, d C.
By the way, guys, I'm out in Colorado right now.
I'm coming to you from Colorado, where I will be
cheering on JK. Dobbins, bow Knicks, Courtland, Sutlon and all
(07:19):
the other crazies that we try to cheer for. Nobody
on the Raiders, of course, Butland Wide.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Receiver, isn't it Sutton Curton.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Courtland, Suttland wasn't he? Wasn't he the star of twenty four? No,
that was key for Sutherland. Why can? Why can? Why can?
I've had a few beers tonight, so I wouldn't. I
wouldn't let me talk too much.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Dave. I think you would be Jean Valjean really in
the league. I could see you spending nineteen years in
prison for stealing a loaf of Brent like you're doing
it with the best of intentions. We call it loaf Gate.
It would be you know, we call it, you know
at a Ryegate, h Gate. I don't know, but I
(08:07):
could see I could see you being John Valjean. Also,
you know the protagonist of the of the drama as well.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Well, somebody's got to lead, right, somebody's got to set up,
get out and lead the underdogs. Yeah, speaking of underdogs,
guys were all trying to improve our teams. The texts
are flying, Okay, and then it spills into the thread
with just hilarity. Guys, trade wins. What do you hear?
(08:38):
Trade winds? Hurricane Aaron James has been blowing through the
Upper Midwest.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
James.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah, we mentioned now is the time. I probably should
have done this a couple of weeks ago, but it
you know, I put the message out midweek. The week
hadn't even ended, and I was already pushing trade proposals out.
I had the announcement to the league that it is
now is the time anybody and everybody is available. I
(09:05):
threw out a couple of doozies, tried to play a
little bit of a timing game, putting some deadlines on
some situations because you know, I had to strike quick
while the iron is hot, when you're ready to go.
And ultimately nothing came to fruition last night. But today,
(09:25):
in the wee hours of the BTP podcast, prior to
today's episode, three trades, three trades, back to back to
back trades.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
On this yet.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Justologist pulled off a hat trick. What has never.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Seen live reaction as as a storm and Norman put
it after we constatee, I'm just getting caught up exchange
makeover continues. Wow, all right, Well for those who may be,
(10:06):
you know, legging a little behind, like Davis tonight, that's okay,
let me spill the beans, let me get the news.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
First trade of the night, Dave. We've been working on
this for the variations of this for the last thirty
six hours.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Here.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
First trade went down with truffle shuffling, sending Nico Collins, Quinn,
Shawn Judkins, and Michael Pennox Junior over to the Royal
Rowdies for Jordan Addison, Baker Mayfield and Bucky Irving, who Dave,
A lot went into this A lot went into this.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
One also, And there's also considering there.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
There's a twenty five dollars fab consideration in here too,
that one Dave sols up. He'll figure out how to
transfer that money in the system.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
I'm going to do it, but it's part of the deal.
It may have to be actual, real cash.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
It's real cash, no knowing you, Yeah, cash to pay Dave.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
That was the first trade, Dave. We've been working on
variations of this for about thirty six hours. What led
to this one? I mean, did it take that third
Bruce Kate to kind of push you over the edge
and push you through on this one. But the timing's
about right if I have my math right.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Yeah, yeah, I was about three beers deep probably at
that point, so probably that was probably that was helpful.
I I'm I've got major holes, right, this is my week,
this is my big bye week, this is my big
injury week. I don't have quarterbacks to start, I don't
have flex players to start. I'm in desperate mode, and
I'm also sort of in win now mode. So you
(11:37):
combine those things and all of a sudden you start
to live a little week to week. Yeah, And all
of a sudden, it's like, Okay, I got to make
a move to try to win this week, and then
next week I'll make a move to try to win
that week. But I can only sort of think week
to week. And it's unfortunate because when you're in the
upper echelon which none of us are, sorry Dan, you're not, sir,
you can think, you can think multiple weeks ahead. When
(11:59):
you're in the bottom hand and you're in this point
poort in the season, you have to think weak to weak,
And that's where I'm at. It started with Riley, I
really and we'll hear from Scott Riley. I wanted to
offer him. I really wanted to trade with Scott Riley.
He was unwilling to budge plenty of excuses that I
got from him. But then it really led to like
I was throwing all kinds of offers really league wide,
(12:19):
and they were just hanging there. Nobody would ever respond.
Nobody would reject it. They would reject it to my face,
they would say no, please stop texting me, but they
would not reject it in the system. So it sort
of created this like false hope, Well maybe they'll reconsider,
and so I just kept constantly looking at these six
or seven trades that I would have being offered out there.
Finally I woke up this morning and like, you know what,
(12:39):
it's probably gonna just be ag and I that makes
the deal. Who knew that the deal that I made
with you AJ then just blew the lid off things
and all of a sudden freed up other people to
start making moves. Maybe we were the domino to fault.
I don't know, but wow, I'm looking at all these
other trades that you made, and I'm happy that you
were able to kind of keep the momentum going. I'm
perfectly fine getting a Udkins. I like it. I'm sad
(13:02):
for losing Baker, but Pennox is not a terrible fell
in there. And then Nico, I think, has got, you know,
a little decent value there. So if you can stay
healthy get you now have to inherit the injury risk
of Bucky Irving, which I really hope he comes back.
I love Bucky Irving. But now you have to sort
of take on that that risk, which you know you
were okay with and and you're improving your team, and
(13:24):
hats off to you, aj is a three win team
you're trying to you know, this is your last desperate.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Close to you, AJH, I'm interested shifting over to your
your trade that followed like what less than an hour
later to pass the football who obviously adequately analyzed the
trade and decided it was worth it for him as
opposed to the other ones that Dave mentioned. You went
wide receiver for wide receiver. I've thought about that. I
(13:53):
oftentimes get stuck in the lot. They need a RB,
so I have a wide receiver or vice versa. Like
you guys went straight position for position, Like what was
going into that and what do you know that you
withheld from Riley that now he's gettinget screwed on.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Well, you know, one thing to note here is again,
once the figurehead figures out how to transfer fab dollars,
there was a five dollars fab.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Okay, you skin this.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Mix as well, going towards past the football Okay, okay,
So yeah, I mean we made that first trade. And
you know, Dave said, you can't think weeks ahead in
all honesty, Dave, and you can agree to this one
or confirm this. Two weeks ago, I think I reached
out to you and said, hey, Week ten is going
to be a pain in the butt for you because
you have no quarterbacks. So I tried to do this
(14:42):
quarterback little flip flop situation send a couple of year
away a couple of weeks ago, kind of finally came
to fruition. Now, secondarily, what I need to do. I'm
three and fifteen. Yeah, yuck, three and fifteen of the season.
I probably need to sweep two wins every every week
the way the rest of the way to get to
the playoffs and have a chance. Here. What I'm now
(15:05):
looking for is players that I believe personally might have
a little more boom than Bush. So I'm taking chances.
I'm trying to shake it up a little bit. I'm
investing in Zay Flowers. I'm investing in Garrett Wilson, Guys
who who maybe have had a down season or a
down couple weeks, are on the downturn, but do have
the potential to put up some big numbers there. That's
(15:27):
what I'm looking at with Baker Mayfield, the guy who
carried me through the playoffs last year ultimately to the championship.
It's gonna cost something along the way, but I needed
to do something, and it very well might be too little,
too late, but we went for the full shake up,
so I referenced it. The third trade of the night
was with with Storm and Norman, and it was Trevor
(15:47):
Lawrence and Jordan Addison, the newly acquired Jordan Addison going
off to Storre Conn for Tyler Shook and Garrett Wilson,
again banking on the fact that the New York Jets
might figure something out and Garrett Wilson might be the recipient.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
There.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
The way I look at it is I had an
extra quarterback. I talked to Norman about his week twelve.
I think it is bye week where he needs a quarterback.
So we shaped up a little bit for him there,
and I got a number one wide receiver that's very
largely underperforming, but a number one wide receiver for a
number two wide receiver. That's the way I have to
look at it. And it may not work out, but
that's the logic I have to do. Invest in say
(16:26):
Flowers now that Lamar's back, invest in Bucky Irving and
the stack with Baker. Maybe they can get a passing
touchdown to the running back. Those are the things that
I needed to consider just to kind of shake it up,
and it just so happened to kind of go boom
boom boom tonight.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
And I always love a good I always love a
good Scott Raley trade too, because even though you are
opponents this week, you're still doing business nice right, And
like I just I love I love just that mentality
where it's like, hey, I'm looking at my team irrespective
of who I'm playing this week, I know what I
need to do. And you know who does he have? Now?
A lave? Did he acquire him?
Speaker 5 (17:02):
So?
Speaker 3 (17:02):
I mean, he has some really strong weeks come that
he's had in the last few in the last month,
call it so you know it might work out for.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Him, right this, obviously, all the trade winds and all
the text obviously, you know, sort of trickled down into
our thread, and people, you know, started to say, well,
should we just bring it all to the thread. I mean,
we're all texting each other individually, let's just come full
frontal with it.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
No one said that.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
Beyond beyond texting, though, I'm not above just cold calling
people at their workplace, like in the middle of their
work day and go, look, we need to work out
a deal. And and I was trying to bug Scott.
He's like, I'm in the middle of meetings. Man, I'm like, Scott,
come on, like check your check your inbox. I finally
reached out to Mike. I cold called Mike and and
(17:50):
just said, hey, Mike, I'm ready to do a deal
right now. I'm feeling I got a little tradium. I'm
feeling I just hit. I took a hit at Tradium,
and I'm feeling a little high and jittery, and let's
get going. And I lo and behold, he recorded the
phone call that I would He recorded the phone call.
Hats off to him hashtag content for the pod. So
(18:12):
this was delivered to league headquarters unbeknownst to any of us.
None of us have heard this. And here is the
phone call, supposedly that I made with Mike this week,
prior to all the trade winds going down. Take a listen.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
They are there.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
I'm here, and we are recording.
Speaker 8 (18:35):
You were amazing. Okay, Mike, Mike, it's Dave.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
How you doing?
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Hey, Dave? What's going on?
Speaker 8 (18:42):
Uh? Starting to catch up between meetings or whatever? I
you'll laugh, But I.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Need a quarterback.
Speaker 8 (18:49):
Okay, So do you remember last weekend when I traded
you a quarterback when you were in desperate need.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
I do remember that, Dave.
Speaker 9 (19:01):
I also remember the pound of flesh that you tried
to exact from me throughout the process.
Speaker 8 (19:07):
Well, you know, I mean little little little simple economics
supply and demand a little bit.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Now the shoes on the other foot, my friend.
Speaker 8 (19:19):
Okay, Well, listen, I got two of my three quarterbacks
on buy, and I got a gathing hole right now
on my starting roster. You've got a couple extra quarterbacks
you can potitionly be my way. What is you know?
Is lamar on or off the table?
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (19:35):
Lamar is off the table, all right, okay, for the
for the right price, some other people might be on
the table.
Speaker 8 (19:44):
Do you need any running back help?
Speaker 1 (19:48):
I mean I.
Speaker 9 (19:48):
Could benefit from a running back depending upon the caliber.
Speaker 8 (19:52):
And I got I got Scott Rdy, Scott Riley is
calling you in right now.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
I just got to cut in here for a second, Like, Dave,
you are doing all the work in this negotiation. I
feel like he is. He's just sitting here going he's not.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
On the day.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Well he is on the day, Like you're literally like
trying to do a deal. So hats off to you
for like sticking to it. Sorry, I just had to
like say that because like I felt like you were
trying to make a deal and he's just like, we're recording.
I gotta be cool.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Well, hey, I mean this, are we in a one
party consent state or a two party consent state? Because
I didn't even know if we were recording? So yeah, legally,
what are what are my legal avenues here? Can I sue?
Can I?
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Can we continue? Let's see how it turns out.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
There, Let's see what happened. Let's see what happened.
Speaker 8 (20:44):
Right now, he's on hold waiting for me to work
out another deal. So time is sticking away here. I
got sky Riley and you know what, Dan Meyers, I
got a Dan Meyer incoming call as well.
Speaker 9 (20:55):
Hm, seems like you should.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Seems like you should. Probably no, you didn't calling you,
so listen, like, look at how he commits to it.
I physically have been hitting refreshed on my page for
three days. No one's sending me text.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
This is what you do in negotiation though you really an't.
You know, you just say, oh, I've got I've got
people lined up to trade with me, but I'm going
to you first. Art right, that's what you say?
Speaker 9 (21:22):
Ohose calls, because that's probably not going to motivate me
to move fast.
Speaker 8 (21:28):
Say Scott's a mover and shaker, don't put.
Speaker 10 (21:31):
It past him.
Speaker 8 (21:32):
He wants to get a deal done today.
Speaker 9 (21:34):
Yeah, I'm sure, I'm sure he does. I'm sure he does.
And I'm just wondering if you want to get a
deal done or if you want to get the deal done,
because a deal is something that leads to you putting
up an l the deal is what gives you the
w and frankly, based on what I saw this past
weekend in terms of your team's performance and the double
(21:58):
l's worth of productivity that I saw out of your team.
I'm thinking the reason why you're on the call with
me is because you know what kind of caliber you're
going to get from the guys that you're leaving on
hold right now versus what you're getting from the chicken.
Speaker 8 (22:14):
This call just went very dark. Don't you have some
sort of corporate call.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
You got to take right now?
Speaker 9 (22:18):
I actually do have to take my HR call for
benefits for next year.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
So okay, I love you, We'll calculator love you.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
So obviously no deal got done in that particular call.
I tried. Yeah, Scott and Dan were not on the
other line. They were not interested in trading with me
at all, And eventually I just had to go back
to the bottom of the barrel and scrape up a
deal with AJ.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
You know, all the while, you're already offering players you
don't have on your roster to other managers to try
and you know pull other How did you know that?
Speaker 1 (22:51):
How do you know that feels this? Okay, Dave, I
just know that it's just just information become aware of.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Last night we had a conversation about how we're going
to put this juicy deal on the table for you.
We were going to put this great offer, put it
in whatever trade calculator you want. It came out positive
for the rowdies, and I said to you, this is
gonna be We're gonna have a six thirty pm deadline.
We're gonna have a six thirty pm deadline of this
(23:21):
because I don't want you to sit here and leverage
this all night long. You didn't respond right away. About
fifteen minutes later you said, Hey, I'm walking out the door.
Can I have three hours? And out of the kindness
of my heart, I granted you a three hour stead
with a three hour extension on the deal. This was
right before seven o'clock, so your new deadline would have
(23:42):
been ten o'clock. A little bit later, I get a
text from a different owner in the league who shall
remain nameless, that said, Hey, just a heads up, Dave
is shopping players that are currently on your roster. Don't
you to know that that's happening? And I said, wait,
(24:03):
hang on a second, Dave was shopping this at six
thirty earlier tonight, or Dave is shopping this right now
at seven forty five when he's out for the evening
and needs a three hour extension. And he said, moments
ago I got this text from Dave. So Dave, this
is where oh man, this is where the follow up
(24:24):
text where I said, new information has come to light.
New deadline on the table, eight thirty, no later than.
And then the juicy deal which included Ashton genty was
a really juicy deal, then became off the table and
and we we we did. We came up with another deal.
But wow, what it was an interesting night last night.
(24:46):
We were throwing barbes back and forth at at lambeau
Leapers in the chat once we jumped in there, there
was a lot going on. And you know, the the
puppet master is that what we called you last week?
The puppet master was trying to pull the strand Yeah,
but we you know, ultimately, Dave, we did make it
work and we got to the point.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Aj coming out of this segment, I was firmly in
the camp that I was going to nominate Chicken Wing
to be the inspector javert of our league. You know,
he's the he's the merciless law man police inspector that
chases down for the Justice ag That might be you,
(25:29):
I might have to give that to you to holding
Dave to account. Here live on the pod.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
I would like to buy a hamburger.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Here's the situation.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
I'm going to let you consider what you just said.
You think about that if if you want to dub
me the inspector javert, think about that for a second,
because right now we really have to pay our bills,
and we have to hear a word from our sponsor
for this week, and we're gonna throw to our first
commercial from the creators of girl Math. If I pay
(26:02):
with the Starbucks app, it doesn't even cont as real money.
And the proud originators of man's plaining.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Oh you're a doctor. That's cool.
Speaker 11 (26:12):
I read an article once about how stethoscopes work.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Basically, it amplifies sound.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
Comes the newest, most illogical way to justify terrible fantasy trades.
It's Dave Trades. You've laughed at it, you've scoffed at it,
and now you can take Dave Trades with you in
the convenience of your pocket sized mobile phone device. Looking
to trade for the breakout player of twenty twenty five,
(26:38):
just open the app and check out a Dave trade.
Speaker 11 (26:41):
How about Jackson Smith and Jigba straight up for Quentin Johnston.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Boom Dave Trade.
Speaker 6 (26:48):
Need to add a top five wide receiver to your
mid range underperforming squad, act fast and score our limited
time three for one special.
Speaker 11 (26:56):
I'm feeling Tyler, Aljeer, Ricky Piersoll and went in Johnston
for Pokinakua.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Boom Dave Trade.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
That's right, three bench players for one superstar. Because when
you use Dave Trades, the numbers don't add up, but
your confidence sure does. It's Dave Trades when logic takes
up by week, available now exclusively on iPhone and in
Dave's imagination.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Thank you to our sponsor, looking forward to the release
of Dave Trades coming to the store near you.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
I am crying. I am both so proud and you't
so hurt.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Thank you Dave Trades for sponsoring the BTP week. We
we we couldn't do it without you. Sorry.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
It's I feel blackballed because nobody's gonna trade with me
in because because people think I make the worst trade offers,
and I feel absorber, blackball blacklisted a little bit, and
yet is the one to crawl back to me and
wants to deal with me. So it all sort of
works out in the end.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
But in fairness, this commercial, they came into the studio
and they recorded this commercial, right, they recorded in our
studio prior to the trade that we made this evening.
So in that period, you know, between ten am and
six pm, when I was not getting any feedback, this
is what came out of that. And then we put
(28:38):
together a deal. So timing wasn't the greatest, but I
think the sentiment still holds true.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Oh gentlemen, that was fantastic. I love that sponsor. We're
gonna have to have them come back because I think
they're pretty ubiquitous here in the league.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
I think it'll be an annual sponsor.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
I think it will be. Indeed, gentlemen, I want I
want to move on to our guest for this evening.
So thankful that he could be here, and he's already
been the subject of a lot of our conversation tonight.
You know him as passed the Football. I know him
as lovable Scott Riley. Let's go ahead and just welcome
(29:18):
Scott Riley pass Football.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Thank you, gentlemen, appreciate it. Always a pleasure to be
a part of the pod. I always like making my
annual appearance and contributing where I can.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Yeah, we love it. What's your take on what we've
been discussing so far, specifically around your trade? I asked
about the player for player wide receiver position. Now you're
kind of finding out, Hey, I was the sandwich. You know,
I was the middle layer. And we all know that
the middle layer is how you name a sandwich, right,
(29:50):
Like nobody ever has, like, you know, a whole weed sandwich. No,
you have a turkey sandwich. You know what I mean,
you're the turkey. Well, okay, that was wrong, but you.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Basically, Oddsbolla just had a big old Scott Riley sandwich.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
Sure with AJ.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
I don't know, we just he proposed it and just
thinking about it, and I think given to where we're at,
so at least for myself looking where I'm at the
table and everything, it's just like it's kind of a
Danie kind of pointed out wide receiver for wide receiver.
It's pretty comparable apples to apples. It's like at this
point I was just kind of like, well, why not
let's try something different here?
Speaker 5 (30:30):
See what we can have happen that I mean, I
did a little. I know.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
The my one reservation I had as you got Lamar
back now throwing the flowers, like okay, that's that's that
could improve his season a little bit. However, I will
point out majority of a season I think he's performed.
I know we talked about last last week, looking at
the projections, I think he's performed just about every week
under the projection. So it's like, Okay, maybe there's that
(30:57):
I could let go. But then also too getting a lobby.
The quarterback situation isn't that great in Orleans right now either,
So it's just kind of like, well, what you just
kind of picked one and went with it, so I
figured there's maybe one of us will get lucky there.
That's really about what went into that thought process for
(31:17):
letting that one go.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
There wasn't too much more.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
I know, Dave is Dave and I were talking you
mentioned earlier were going back and I think it was
yesterday day, but we're not mistaken. But there's there's a
number of other ones I've been getting, but trying to
get one of my quarterbacks out of me, and I
just I couldn't let it go. I got I've only
got one of the one on my bench and CJ.
Stroud is on concussion protocol right now, so that that
was the one determining factor there, and there's pretty much
(31:41):
nothing out there on the way we're wired to grab.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
So yeah, sorry to that day, but I just couldn't
make those ones.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Work one if I hadn't Nickel.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Yeah, well, I like what you did there, by the way, Scott,
at the very beginning of your your explanation there, you
know you said the tape once a fur ball, always
a furball. It's right, that's right, Yeah, it's right, it's
I believe what you said. And again, these trades, these
last two trades, both the Scott trade and the Norman trade,
actually came together very quickly. It was a proposal, a
(32:15):
text and within five minutes it was done. Yeah, and
I believe your exact words were Sure, I guess it's
worth the gamble. And that's where we're at right now.
I mean, it's time to shake it up. If we
want any opportunity to do something, we need to do
something different than we've been doing, because it's led us
to seven and eleven and three and fifteen.
Speaker 5 (32:34):
I'd agree.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Yeah, now, Scott, if I could get my hands on,
Ashton Genty and George Kittle.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Gave trade.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
Yeah right, I'm I'm working.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
A deal to capture to acquire these players. Are you interested? Look, Scott,
you you got your hit a tradium.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
You're usually the guy who's wheeling and DeLand first. You're
a September dealer, right, You're the one who sort of
first went out of the gates. Yeah, first blood. This year,
you were a little tentative. And is it an engagement things?
Has fantasy not be top of mind?
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Has it just been like Oh No, I've I've been
very much engaged in fantasy, constantly going through the app
and and looking at who's got who and everything like that.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Who's watching, always focusing on them.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
I think in past seasons I had done it earlier,
especially last season. I think that's a result of a
poor draft night. I think that was ultimately what caused
me to make a move quicker those seasons versus this season.
I had a little bit different approach to the draft
this year, and obviously hasn't really worked out that well
so far. But I thought leaving that night, I was like, yeah,
(33:49):
it was a pretty balance, We're okay kind of hit
what I wanted to hit for you know, drafting for
value kind of thing, and which I think I got
in some areas.
Speaker 5 (33:59):
But it's certainly you know, hasn't really worked out obviously.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
And you haven't been able to escape the injury bug either,
you know.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Geez, Yeah, that's been I'm sure I'm not the only one,
but man, yeah, it's really hit my squad hard.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
And for you specifically, it's come at some of those
key positions. Wide receiver mclaurin's out, Mike Evans is out.
Now you have CJ. Stroud at your quarterback, Omar and
Hampton some players, right, it seems like some players that
you may have been banking on, Yeah, as you're finding
value players Mike Evans, James Connor, guys that should have
(34:34):
had solid seasons but didn't cost as much as some
of the higher names, right, ones you lost and that
impacts you pretty greatly when they're at those key positions.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Definitely, mclaurin's won. Maybe you mentioned that already, AJ, but
that's another one. I had him last year. I think
I got him from you actually in a trade, and
he did pretty well for me once I had him,
So he was a target I had this year going
to the draft and wanted to get him again, but
he just he obviously hasn't just been himself this year,
barely played really, So yeah, it's impacted definitely. Some of
(35:03):
those key positions, probably the only ones of real success
I had, And these were targets in mind that I
had were my two main.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
Quarterbacks and Sam Darnold and bow Nicks.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
I was trying to the approach there was to not
go for those huge, heavy hitters like a Jalen Hurtz
or Patrick Mahomes, those kind of player because they're gonna
go our high dollar. It's like, well, let's get some solid,
good value and hope that they do as well as
they did in the previous season. And so far they've been,
without a doubt, my two best.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Players, Right, Scott. You always go out and get the
guys that you want, whether it's through trades or as
we talked about last week on the pod, dropping seventy
six dollars for Tyrone Tracy New York Giants running back.
You know, can you walk us through the thought process there?
Did you were you? Were you recording calls with fecciniw failure?
(35:54):
Like what was happening?
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Wait?
Speaker 4 (35:56):
So it's it's uh so far so agent mentioned it there.
I lost Omary and Hampton and then James Connor, my
two main running backs that I drafted. They went down
pretty early in the season. And when o'mary Hampton went
down correct me for but I think the one running
back was Haskins, if I'm not mistaken. And Greg and
I duped it out pretty hard out on the waiver wire,
(36:19):
and I went.
Speaker 5 (36:19):
Like fifty nine bucks. I think Greg got him for
sixty one or something like enough.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
My numbers could be yeah, right, So that my thought
process the I was like, gosh, I missed out on that.
I missed out on his replacement, and that really stung
because then I didn't have anything to fill that hole
so little that I know, Blessing in the skies. He
went down that next weekend, and Greg was without Haskins
that I think for the rest of the season.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
So or at least benzent what was it be, Trey Benson.
He got into sixty three. You were fifty six dollars
in so you but that was a healthy bid fifty yeah, yeah, yeah,
it was twenty dollars higher than the third bid.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Okay, yeah, yeah, So that was my approach with Tyrone
when I saw that they had lost scatabooy, right am
I saying that?
Speaker 5 (37:03):
Right? Stataboo, It's like, Okay, there's my opportunity.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
I have plenty of fab and I know everyone's gonna
probably be going in for this guy. So I just
spent big. Obviously way over spent, but we'll see what
I had to fill that spot.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
But the market was set at sixty for RB two apparently,
and you had to go for it. Scott, you are
amazing how outside of fantasy football, the thread, the podcast,
reaction to the ancillary but yet most important parts of
the of the Fantasy Football League. The pod, the thread,
What are your what are your reactions?
Speaker 5 (37:39):
I think they're great. I think the pod we've talked
about before.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
I'm glad it's it's back, and it's it's it's a
high point in my week for sure.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
I enjoy listening to it.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
I think it's always I always enjoy a good chuckle
at my desk at work while I listened to it,
and some of you maybe do this too.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
I listened to more once, so there's there's.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
Do you think a lot of the guys listen to it?
Like where do you think it's the most frequently watched location.
Speaker 10 (38:09):
You think it's at Do you think it's at Is
it at work? Is it at it's drive time? It's
when you time time.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Sometimes we start getting reactions right away from when you
guys make the announcement, and theoretically that's at what ten
eleven o'clock people are in the workday, so they're firing.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
It up right away.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
But yeah, at work or drive time, for sure is
when I'm listening to it.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
I will say, Riley, check your inbox tonight before we
go to bed. And I'm not even here, all right, So, uh, Scott,
you here's the thing, Scott. Will you commit to banding
together and hitting the streets of Paris with us?
Speaker 5 (38:56):
Absolutely, one of us, one of us.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Let's lift up on all of us, one of us.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
One of us has to make it.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
Come on one of us, Scott, one of us has
got a breakthrough. Pick up the flag, Scott, start waving it.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
He's waving it. He's waving it.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Yes, thank you, Scott. He's literally waving a flag, an
imaginary flag in his living room. Scott. We love you,
we appreciate you. You are the glue that holds us
all together. You're on you are on brand within the
Big Dan Fantasy Football League, meaning you're all in, you're
pod you're threading, you're listening multiple times, you're always engaged.
(39:37):
You're you're trading, you're taking bumps of Tradingum. We appreciate you,
We love you. Any final thoughts as you head into
your Week ten match up with Truffle Fellow, a fellow
French revolutionary.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
Correct, we each wished each other luck, but not too
much luck after our trade, So you know.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Give it for Scotty. Give it a Scott Riley. Ladies
and gentlemen, we appreciate you. We got to take a
quick break here, Scott. Feel free to hang on through
pod picks. We got to take a quick break. We're
gonna listen, listen to another member of the league and
uh and we'll talk about on the other side of
this break. Hey, what up?
Speaker 11 (40:17):
Big ten side thread storming, Norman checking in here. Appreciate
you guys, sending the money my way this week for
the prime and competence loss. H not sure many moreeks
weeks We're to keep doing that, but it feels good
to give give back a little bit. So I think
Dave you're up next. Make sure you throw your your
venmo in the chat so we can get you paid too.
(40:39):
Before this week's matchup. Looking forward to this weekend, big
matchup with be Encounters buy in for second place, two
top teams in the league outside of Prime, So looking
forward to that should be a good matchup. Feeling good
about the squad coming down the stretch here. Really avoided
most of the injuries, so yeah, better fun year. POD's
(41:03):
been solid, Thread's been solid.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
Keep it up, fellas, talk to you later.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
That's Norman, that's Stormy Norman, Norman v. Counters in the
matchup of the week. Uh. He's talking about under the
table money and sort of side threads and gambling. He
is the Chauncey Billups of the Big ten Fantasy Football League.
He is the nefarious sort of mafia member.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
I guess I did not realize that we were allowed
to bet in fantasy football. Like I didn't think that
money could be exchanged, could be exchanged. So this is
this might be a scoop. This is a big scoop,
big scoop like this could be this could be breaking open. Yeah,
(41:49):
fantasy football.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
I should write a this is memory lane, but I
should write an article and post it in the comments.
Remember when I used to write fake news art.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
Write fake news articles. We would we used to post
those fake news articles to the Yahoo chat session like
they had a Yahoo Chat section.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
They had a Yahoo comments or or yeah read, and
I would write the weekly news report Shoreview, Minnesota, dot
dot date line, dateline, Arden Hills, Maple Grove, Minnesota or whatever,
and it would be fake news. I mean real news,
but you know it was. It was onion ask. It
was you ask.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
All the work you get into that that a I
would do, like in thirty seconds for you.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
Don't sleep on don't sleep on humans?
Speaker 2 (42:38):
I was did you did you get a trophy for posting?
Speaker 1 (42:43):
I did? I was the most most active. I was
the most active.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
He did, And then one of Jason's kids promptly threw it.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
A exactly my digital my digital trophies somewhere at the
bottom of a of a holding pond. Guys, dated lake guys.
This is it, this is it. We have to band
together right now. So as we headed a pod picks,
pot picks, Scott, can we get a pod picks from you?
(43:10):
Pod picks Scott, Thank you, Scott Sounder Scott can you
sing it this time? Can you sing it? Do you here?
Speaker 5 (43:21):
No, you're not gonna get any singer.
Speaker 6 (43:22):
Out of me?
Speaker 1 (43:23):
All right, all right, all right, well, well done, as
we headed a pod picks. Guys, link arms, shoulder to shoulder,
wave the French Revolutionary flag as we headed a pod
picks here. All right, but let's start with that. But
let's start with that, a j. Let's start with that
matchup of the week. What do you think?
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Let's do it right away. That matchup of the week,
according to Yahoo, is between the Bean Counters and Storman
Norman two twelve and sixteens. I believe it's the two
and three seeds in our league right now, presently projected
both above one hundred and thirty points as where they have.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Nope, can't look at projections, David wanted to look at
projections anymore. Don't look at projections, Look at each player. Gotcha,
think how you.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Think they're going to do?
Speaker 2 (44:07):
There we go. You have two hot teams, two hot
rosters with a lot of the potential hot pots. Maybe
the hottest quarterback in Drake may maybe the hottest wide
receiver in Pukinakua. And then you have the hottest running
back in Jonathan Taylor on the other side, Any any vibes,
any feelings out of this one. Norman makes a trade
(44:29):
maybe to shape up a little bit of his roster,
although I don't think I see that player in there.
Just a bench move, you know, solid bench, just get
ready for those bye weeks coming up. Any any feelings
on which one which direction this one might go.
Speaker 3 (44:41):
It's gooding hot.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
In here, speaking of projected points for a moment, I
when I was dealing with various owners in the in
the trade whirlwinds, Mike and a few other owners were
really locked into like Yahoo rest of season projections. Yeah,
I would stop looking at ye yeah, and projections, like
I know my answer projections right now. And that's the
(45:04):
little that's the little thing I'm into right now, Like
let's all do our own research off platform and not
be confused by whatever Yahoo AI is giving us. But
like a few people in particular are like, well that's
a bad trade, Dave, look at Yahoo rest of season projections.
I'm like, I'm looking at this week. I need help
this week, and so sure, maybe Yahoo rescip is you know,
(45:24):
I'm not even looking beyond this week. So again, that's
just where it gets tricky and where it gets confusing
and it clouds people's minds, maybe to a fault.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
So I'll throw a little something out there for the
league to stew on and think about, Dave. I. I
stumbled into this because when you and I were originally
talking last night trades, I couldn't send you the trade
through the system because I had my IR spot I
think it was brock Purty was officially off IR. I
hadn't adjusted it, so I couldn't send a trade off
(45:51):
or through. But what I realized, and this might be
tipping my hand a little bit, but for for those
who care, screenshot your your trade and text it rather
than send it through the system. And then you don't
even have to think about the projections because there isn't
the automated plus four points for this team minus eight
for that team. And for me, as much as that
(46:12):
might be a strategy with the owner you're negotiating with,
it also gives you a fresh mind and a fresh
opportunity to say, Okay, I feel good about this player,
whether it be their schedule, whether it be their last
couple of weeks, whether it be that they're finally healthy
after a bye week. I feel good about this player
rather than what the automation system is telling me based
(46:32):
off of projections and what they've done this last couple
of days. So you carry this over to your your
b leagues, Dave, and if you if you want a
little bit of an advantage, don't don't send it in
the system because then you won't have that side by
side opportunity. You just have the conversation and you do
it over the text and you'll throw it.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
Back you're here. That's a great help.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
It also begs the question of what is that initial
trade offer?
Speaker 1 (46:56):
Right?
Speaker 3 (46:56):
Is that is the spirit of that getting the ball
rolling or is it is it? You know there are
some people in this league that you will get the
ball rolling, but they just reject They don't even have
time to think about it. Yeah, you know, maybe we
don't have to go all the way to Dave as
an you know, anti projectite, but maybe you could you
could at least go it's one data point. Let's let
(47:19):
you know think about, Hey, his quarterback's healthy. I mean,
Scott just did it before with talking about Lamar Jackson, right,
So like, yeah, these are all these are all part
of the calculus and I think we do get a
little too hung up on yeah green versus red pluses
and minuses.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
And yeah, correct, and none of that means anything. Do
you guys remember when I was predicted to go like
two and fourteen or two and thirteen after Yahoo projections, right, and.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
It's just like, well, but I think it's out of
this draft with me having the most I think Yahoo
said I had the best team. Uhh, that ain't happen.
Speaker 1 (47:58):
Yeah after this trade to this draft. Yet this past
year a j they said you were going to have
the best team, right, yow, Okay he might.
Speaker 3 (48:10):
Well, he may have.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
I guess I maybe put more emphasis on the projections
in the season and not after draft night.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
Correct.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
Maybe that's true because we know more, We know more.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
Injuries and come in. Those guys are coming and going,
are dinking and duncan.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Like if we've talked the last multiple weeks about the
top five wide receivers and how we didn't know JSN
was going to be up there, we didn't know, Ye,
this player is going to perform higher than they would.
So there's a lot that that really does go into that.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
I like, I like to look at at teams that
are maybe outperforming their projections. Right, that's looking at my
own matchup. I know that's what Leapers they've been buzzed on, right,
So like, yeah, I might be ahead on the projection,
but guess what, it doesn't mean anything because we already
know he's ten, fifteen to twenty points ahead of that, right.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
H That was our first pod picks where none of
us answered anything about the specific matchup. And we can
pop on right over to the one that you teat up, Dan,
the Lambeau Leapers versus the West Side Hooligans. Another straight
up flat roster record team nine and nine versus nine
and nine. Now one of you's and fourth one of
you is in sixth. Who's sandwiching between you?
Speaker 3 (49:30):
It's a it's a mike. It's a chicken sandwich. Chickens
a chicken sandwich.
Speaker 1 (49:33):
There's another good chicken sandwich, A good chicken sandwich.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Chicken wa wash Dan, you mentioned it, but Dave, I'm
gonna throw it to you. Lambeau Leapers maybe the hottest
team in the league right now? Does how does Dan
step in and buzz saw the Leapers and you know,
some of the confidence that they've built and he's good
looking one of the three packers that he did have
in his starting lineup is now out with Tucker Craft
being out for the season, So David and Joku having
(49:59):
a the fill in.
Speaker 1 (50:02):
But Meyer, I don't I mean, as I look at
west Side, I don't think they've been projected to put
up one north of one thirty all year.
Speaker 3 (50:09):
No, this is the first, the first strong projection.
Speaker 1 (50:12):
Their matchups are juicer when if you just look at
matchups there, he's got players facing Miami facing Buffalo, facing Baltimore,
facing Carolina, facing Washington facing you know, yeah, I just
I think Dan has he's he can boom here, Dan
can boom and if anybody can sort of slow the
role of the Leapers, it's this moment right now. Dan's
(50:34):
predicted to do one thirty five. Leapers have been absolutely unstoppable.
But it's got to come to an end, right There's
got to be some regression at some point. These players
have to cool off at some point. So Dan, there's.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
I'm gonna get that flag. I'm gonna wave that sum
of a gun. I can't like, I'm gonna grip it
and rip bit boys as best I can. I got
no buys, I got all the time. The problem that
I do have is Chris Godwin technically should be coming out.
Speaker 9 (51:10):
Of I R.
Speaker 3 (51:10):
But I can't do anything with my team until I
mess with him. Bamn night yeahoo keeps telling me to
drop him. They tell me a trillion, So I got
to move him out. I haven't been able to do
anything all week because I didn't want to move it
just yet.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
Maybe it's time, Dan. Did you play Monung Guy last week?
Speaker 3 (51:30):
I did? I picked him up, played him, and that's here.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
That's what starts one of the best spots starts of
the year.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
That is, and I'm never I never time my spots starts,
and I did, and I I was watching it with
my son and we were laughing at Scott.
Speaker 1 (51:48):
No, No, we were cale.
Speaker 3 (51:52):
We were so I I every once in a while
you have that spot start and then oh, it just
feels so good.
Speaker 1 (52:01):
It feels so good. You nut it up?
Speaker 3 (52:09):
To know what that means?
Speaker 8 (52:11):
You did?
Speaker 1 (52:12):
You bawled out.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
I I I'm not starting him this week, that's for sure,
because I found out that manang guy means nutted up.
I'm like, little did I know? When I had to
have a conversation with my son and he's too young
and as a whole, So just.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
The halls at school screaming mononguy.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
You know what you need.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
You need to show him some of those tweets that
that Mike has been sending to the thread. That's what
he needs right now.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
And have your son send him to his son's his friend.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
Yes, manonga to you. Yeah, they all.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
Let's go to the next matchup.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
Royal Rowdies, sitting at seven to eleven UH in the league,
takes on the number one team fifty in three Prime incompetence.
We're not looking at projections, but this looks like a
pretty even matchup. Dave has some new players and you know,
the prime and competence is taking a peek at you know,
(53:14):
Jacoby Brissette. I know, Dave you mentioned to me in
passing in conversation. Again, I don't know if this is
owner tampering or if it's GM tampering, since as an
owner in a GM in this situation mentioning players that
aren't on your roster, you did mention Jacoby Brissett. You said,
I believe Jacoby though, is what the text said. How
do you feel about Jacoby Brissette going up against you? Dan,
(53:36):
or Dave and the opportunity that Jean Robinson has to
go off. I'm on Ross and Brown has to go off.
Are you manunguying this week? Ready for this matchup?
Speaker 1 (53:46):
Yeah? Am I gonna nut up? I guess is the
better way to say it? I said Jacoby in a
text to you, because you keep treating me your dirty
bad jaguars who just created for Jacoby Myers, not Jacoby Brissett.
Speaker 2 (54:00):
Well you spelled it this way.
Speaker 1 (54:01):
Well I don't know how to spell Jacobe. Okay, all right,
and I would edit it, but I can't because of
Nate's phone and somehow it affects our conversation.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
It Nate.
Speaker 1 (54:14):
I blame any any edits I have in my text,
regardless of if it's to my wife or anybody. I
blame Nate. Yeah, we are all. Scott, just come off
mute just to say football.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:27):
And Scott, Scott on that note though, are you okay
just if we call if if we call you for
ball for a little bit this year? Is that okay?
Speaker 2 (54:37):
Jump in here. Scott's playing against me right now at
least to stay out of that bottom spot. And if
the footballs does land in that bottom spot, I do
believe fur Balls is probably a.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
Leader in the cup. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure with
a Z.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
With a Z, you have you have a four game cushion.
So we're getting ahead of ourselves.
Speaker 1 (54:55):
Here, but don't say cushion and so anyway, okay, true.
Speaker 3 (55:02):
Here's here's what I look at is, Dave, you have
a you have a chance. I think you have a chance.
I think he's still got a little I think Prime
has a little bit of uncertainty at the tight end position.
While we have been recording, he added Colston Loveland to
his roster the Chicago tight end now again, I think
(55:23):
he's a little bit of fab grab bait. Where he
had a nice week last week. He also had picked
up Hawkinson. This week, Hackinson's been bouncing around. Yeah, so
I don't know that he fully has his his lineup set. Again,
I don't know that tight end in this position is
going to make or break his his week. Knowing you people,
(55:46):
you'll probably want to get rid of that position for
next year's roster, so we'll see. I think he's still moving,
or I should say Nick is still moving people around.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
Has anybody ever just stopped and looked at Prime and
competence roster this year and gone, it's not it's not
that great, right, like it somehow he keeps doing it
like every once, every every couple weeks, I'll pop it
a go.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
Let's just take it.
Speaker 1 (56:08):
Look at our first place team. Let's take a look
at who's dominating everybody. And I look and I'm like, really, like,
is he just gotten sort of squeaky lucky or does
he really have a strong team? And I'm just not
somehow impressed by it.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
So it might be more of the latter, because like,
he's got some good players that do put up very
big boom weeks, like jar Chase, second highest scoring team
in the league, but people don't score a whole lot
of points against him. To the the converse, I'm the
lowest scoring, second to lowest scoring team in the league
(56:43):
and the most scoring points against. So it's a little
bit of you know this for you know pieces, put
pieces together and do that. But it is I hate
that situation where you look at a roster that's been dominant,
right fifteen and three is dominant. It's not you know,
you've had I don't remember how many of those three
losses were. The median score means score whatever, the heck
(57:04):
it is or actual losses week to week. But fifteen
and three you're dominating, you're putting up points, you're beating people,
and you're beating the median almost every week.
Speaker 1 (57:14):
Amazing. It's gonna be an uphill climb. But with the
shake up, shake up, still, I'm still tweaking and constructing
and building and waving flags and French villages.
Speaker 3 (57:24):
Did you say tweaking or twirking?
Speaker 1 (57:30):
It's similar to nutting up, right, whatever it is, it's
similar to nutting up. Let's go to the next matchup.
Speaker 3 (57:37):
We have air balls versus chicken Wing. Presently looks like
chicken wing could potentially best him. Chicken Wings a little hot,
I know we're talking. We're talking Nate being the hot team,
Leapers being the hot team, Chicken Wing sneaky good. Nine
and nine really doesn't show it.
Speaker 2 (57:55):
But presently going with the rare double tight end lineup.
Right now, we have a little situation here where his
his flex position is Rondez Gadson. So he's going Trey
McBride and Rondez Gadson. I'm looking real quick at the bench.
That's he's got some bench players. Now he's got some
quarterbacks Woody Marx is available for him to swap in there.
(58:19):
That's really all he's got there.
Speaker 3 (58:20):
So that's a bye week. It's a bye week.
Speaker 2 (58:22):
It's a bye week situation. Yeah, Rondi Gatson might be
the one to put in there. So but again, trying
to get a W with two tight ends is a
rare feat. Didn't work for me when I tried it,
and we'll see if it works for Chicken.
Speaker 3 (58:35):
But then you look over at air Bald and you
know he's down to Mariota hoof right, you know what
I mean?
Speaker 2 (58:40):
Like, you know, both quarterbacks on his his starting lineup
right now are once he picked up today whatever it was.
Speaker 3 (58:49):
He's tried to give me Sharbonay a couple of times.
I don't like Sharbone. I'm more of a.
Speaker 2 (58:57):
He's not interested in quin Quintin Johnston, right, Dave.
Speaker 3 (59:01):
I tried, I keep trying to get Jimior Gibbs, but
like he's not gonna give him up, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
There's just you know, hey, guys, Airballs is one of us.
Airballs is one of us. Yeah, we meet him this week.
We got he's one of us. Okay, Yeah, in the
Underdogs episode.
Speaker 4 (59:20):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (59:20):
And then our last matchup we've referenced multiple times, so
we don't have to go too deep on this truffle
shuffling versus past the football. Uh, the nine and ten
teams again speaking of one of us, this is where
one of these two teams needs to make a big move.
I will refrain from speaking. I have made my moves
and said my piece. Scott has had his opportunity, and
(59:41):
we've we're doing what we can do. And again, projections
don't mean anything, trust me, because if the projections would
mean something, I wouldn't have three wins. They don't work out,
they don't come to fruition. But this, this is, you know,
some ground to be made up in this matchup.
Speaker 1 (59:57):
Well, I'm torn here for a variety of reasons because
hashtag beat AJ still looms large right in this league.
Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
I think we can back off that camp well.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
But but how sweet though would it be to rename
AJ though? I mean that would be the Indian It
Call Center. I mean it's just too perfect, is that?
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
Norman H. Scott? Let's talk trades. Maybe I can help
boost you up a little bit here, Let's talk Let's
talk trades after the pod here maybe we can, we
can help stack the deck.
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
Well. And in a couple of years ago, I went
to a a Chiefs game. Do you guys recall when
I went to a Chiefs game and I became a
Chiefs fan. We we are all Chiefs, we are all Chiefs. Well,
I'm going to the Raiders Broncos game this week at
Mile High and I really wanted bon X. I really
wanted a trade for bon X so that I could
(01:00:49):
yell out in the stadium. I just traded for you bo.
I love you bo, right and I get to watch it.
I'm a big bonus. Okay, and so, but apparently that's
not gonna happen. But I will be cheering on bow
Nicks and Courtland Sutton this week live Person and J Team,
(01:01:17):
So so all the all the positive vibes. I will
be sending Scott's team in person.
Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
You're so you're You're gonna be cheering on Cordon Sutland
or Courtland Sutton for the people at home gonna win?
Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Are you gonna dress? When are you gonna dress like Key?
For Sutherland? We have Dave, we have we have I
guess your fashion gent too for a J But you know,
I will. To AJ's credit, he's moving, he's trying to
make a movie. He's not just cashing it in like
some people doing fantasy football. Right, that's sort of the
(01:01:52):
the knock on the whole game where you feel like
you're out. Then people stop, they quit, they they back out,
they go, ah, it's over. Anyway, A J's at least
in there trying, and actually his team doesn't look all
that bad. Scott, come off mute for a second. Are
you a little nervous actually about the retooled AJ squad?
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
Oh yeah for sure, Yeah, I uh yeah, trying to
try not to look at the projections.
Speaker 5 (01:02:14):
But it's not working pretty there either.
Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
So projection as an anti projectite. Let me let me
tell you. Turn it off. Toggle it off in your mind,
toggle it off.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
You got if the last what five weeks haven't said
anything that twenty one points has projected for brock Purty
is no guarantee and very likely could drop down to
zero by Friday because he I don't even know what
to think of him. Getting him off of injury and
back in the lineup is is in't and in and
of itself, feels like a trade where I didn't have
(01:02:45):
to give up anybody, and I got a brand new player,
so we'll see if that works.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
Kittle too. I mean, you've got Purty and Kittle. You
got you gotta it's got your own. So you got
a couple. You got a lot of steak in San
Francisco and in Tampa Bay.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Let's go. Let's go for ball.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
You've got the connection with Denver.
Speaker 5 (01:03:05):
That's right, that's about it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
Then you're pretty you're pretty stacked elsewhere. We haven't talked
about Colts or everyone realized how good the Colts.
Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
I mean they and they're going all in. Sauce Gardner
moved this week. They trade for a big, big cornerback.
They're they're making what they're doing right now is they're realizing,
we may have caught lightning in a bottle here. Nobody
saw us coming. We may let's just go all in.
This could be a random Super Bowl run for us,
and so let's go out and get the biggest trade peer,
(01:03:36):
you know, trade piece in in the at the trade deadline.
It sort of reminds it sort of reminds me of
what the Vikings all of a sudden last year with
Sam Darnold. One year by let's just throw them in
and all of a sudden we sort of found a
little magic. It almost makes me think, should we have
like gone all in last year, Like should we have
gone out and been like, we're gonna go get that
offensive tackle and we're gonna get that corner because something's
(01:03:57):
going on here and we ultimately fell apart. We didn't
make a move and whatever. It's fine. I don't think
a lot of teams do kind of push chips in
like this, But the Colts are hats off to them.
Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
Yeah, it's a fun team to watch right now. There's
scoring a lot of points. And last week was kind
of a down week?
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Is that correct? Who do they play? Steelers? They ended
up losing to the Steelers. It was a weird week
with India and Pittsburgh there. But at the same time,
a lot of times you see these quarterbacks and these
wide receivers specifically bounce back after one of those weeks.
Who do they have, Atlanta? I mean, there's an opportunity
there to put up a lot of points as well.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Gentlemen, as we've been talking, I started trying to write
a bit in my head about how these two cellar
dweller teams This was the last time I was going
to think about them this week. But then I realized,
what are we talking about? What have we been talking
about tonight? What have we been talking about on this pod?
We've been talking about the underdogs, right, We've been talking
(01:04:52):
about those whose society or the league have cast aside,
have said no, you are not worth it because of
your terrible winning right, right, if you can you give
us like a like like a like a pep talk,
what's what? What words would you have as our figurehead
commission as the as the band kind of assembles and
(01:05:16):
comes in here, as we climb up on the.
Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
Bulwark, Well, this is our time.
Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
This is our beers, aren't you what's that feeling those beers?
Aren't you?
Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Guys? This is our time. Let's go. I'm wearing a lamp.
I'm wearing a lamp shade at a hotel.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Let me tell you what if that bonus lasts longer
than four hours, you got a little figure out. I
don't believe you're supposed to mix those with alcohols.
Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
So doctor Riccado, I need a little help. You guys.
You guys are the best. We are team Underdog. We
link up. Now's the time. We we can't let Prime
and Competence. Yes, Scott is waving the flag. Make a
gift of that. We can't let Prime and Competence win
this league. We have to slow down the leapers. We
(01:06:23):
can't let Stormy Normy in his band of take down. Okay,
please cut that part. This is this, this is that's
the Indian pale ale talking. Okay, cut that part.
Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
And to wrap the and to wrap the night, we
want to award which team would be like the character
in Les Miserab who was the whore.
Speaker 1 (01:06:56):
No, guys, I love you, I appreciate you. Hats off,
good luck to weekpen. We got this wave the flag.
Let's go
