Construction Guru Here. I'm excited again. I'm always excited. Everybody's
saying you're so excited lately. I'm happy to have another
returning guest, Eric Ralovitz from Good Health Saunas. We haven't
you haven't been on the air here with me for
a while. Yeah, I've been doing your own thing. Man,
you've been You've been going somewhere else. No, I haven't
digging your love somewhere else. Brother.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Well, I have my own podcast, but that's about it.
That's just more for hobby and stuff like that. My
favorite show to do is your show, Nick, So we
always have fun. So thank you for having me on
tell us.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
I'm sure people know who you are. You've been on
here so many times. But tell us about Good Health
Saunas and what's going on.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
So Good Health Sauna we specialize in infrared saunas, which
are in home saunas for us to use for our health,
make us feel better, stuff like that. And it's hot,
you get in there, you sweat buckets. You feel great
after using it, and you can put it anywhere in
the home, So a lot of people put it in basements, bedrooms,
family rooms, places like that. We're a Wisconsin based company.
(01:22):
We've been in business for twenty two years and three.
We have three brick and mortar locations, Appleton, Waukesha, and
the Mall of America and the Twin Cities. And we
have a huge presence online as well.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah you do. And you guys have been endorsed by
several sports celebrities.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Oh yeah, I mean there's a ton of celebrities out there.
Adam Thielen with the Panthers, CJ. Hamm with the Vikings.
David Letterman's race team has our sauna at their training center.
That it is and they come by and say hi
a lot and they use it a lot, they love it.
And then the Petit Center Bonnie Blair Jannis has our
(02:04):
saunas so and there's a lot more.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
And what about talk about the fire station a little bit.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
So we got our sauna in over three hundred and
fifty fire stations across the country. I'm on Town of Brookfield.
I want to say that I'm on a Waukesha County
fire department and.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
So, but we actually just put one in. Yep, we
stuck there.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
But yeah, we just put in a sauna in a
cold plunge in South Milwaukee's fire department, and I'm working
with City of Chicago to put fifty in their stations.
Right now, Saint Paul Fire Department has our sauna in
all sixteen fire stations, and then Minneapolis Fire Department is
in the process of putting arsauna in all twenty other
fire fire stations as well as Buffalo, New York.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
So obviously, as you tell us this, there's been some
kind of research or something that and I know you
and I have talked about it, but I want you
to expound on a little bit. Why are firemen interested
in infrared saunas.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
A couple of different reasons.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
It kind of started out about ten years ago, and
the first thing it was for is that cancer rates
are through the roof with firemen because we're exposed to
all the chemicals in the small right. Yeah, it absorbs
right into our skin through our turnout gear, and so
we started to look at ways of reducing our risk
for cancer. And one of the first things we all
(03:28):
did is we started putting gear washers in our stations
because we didn't wash our gear, and that really helped
tremendously and drop the cancer rates.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
But then we realize, you're talking about your your rain suits, right,
your wet suits.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, the turnout gear that we go in the burning
building with.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Use, don't use technical So the stuff that the hat
and the big raincoat looking thing, you are now cleaning
because that stuff would get into your skin.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
More correct, Okay, because we'd be handling all that stuff
when we're not in a fire, you know, training and
going to car accidents, so it's touching our skin, it's
absorbing into our body. So then we realize to wash those, well,
then cancer drop, but throat cancer didn't. So then we
looked at that and we were like, why is that. Well,
we weren't washing our hoods that cover our neck when
(04:15):
we go into burning building. Then we realized we have
to wash those, and then wipes came out where we well.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
You were you were washing them, you just weren't washing
them after every fire is correct.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Yes, yes, yeah, And once we realized every time you
go into a burning building or smoke or whatever, you
have to wash your gear.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
And so that helped tremendously.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
And then we you know, we got no matter how
many times you do that, though, it's going to absorb
in your skin when you go in the building, because
it's only the gear is only designed.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
To protect us from heat, not from smoke and the dangers.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
In siruch isn't isn't am I right in saying that
pretty much everything gets absorbed into your skin, like if
you I mean, if you put you know, they always
say you should work gloves when you're putting gas in
your lawnmower because when you get gas over your hands,
it's being absorbed in and yeah, yep, and who knows
right what that's what that's going to manifest as if
it's going to be cancer and infection or something, but.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Yep, exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
And so once we then once we realized, okay, now
we get back to the station, let's sweat it out.
Let's sweat as much toxins and poisons out of our body.
And that's initially how it first got involved with the
Then m h, yeah, you'll take a white rag and
wipe the sweat off your body after fighting a fire
and showering, and it'll start to turn brown.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Really, and you don't see any soot on your skin.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Isn't that from the motion you're using?
Speaker 3 (05:36):
No, if I did go tanny, maybe maybe I should
go tanning. But uh yeah, So then the other aspect
of it is is the number one killer of firemen
is like anybody, heart disease, heart attacks, and it's from
it's it's higher than the average joel because when you're
you know, sleeping at two in the morning and a
(05:58):
call goes out and and your adrenaline, the adrenaline spikes
that come out of nowhere, So that plays a toll
on our hearts and the lack of sleep and stuff
like that. So using a sauna is huge for reduced
going to risk for heart disease, heart attack, congestive heart failure.
Is actually a study that if you use a sauna
four times a week, thirty minute sessions, it reduces our
(06:21):
risk for those for heart disease, heart attack, and CHF
by fifty percent.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
That's huge, massive, Yes, yep, it's huge.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
So when you think about when you think about like
the money that people are spending on supplements, which I
think is good. Don't get me wrong. If you if
you're getting quality supplements. I don't get paid, but I
use life extension. I think they do a good job.
I feel physically better when I'm when I'm doing a
vitamin regiment. Excuse me, But the sauna is something that
(06:52):
you pay for once and use forever. The vitamins are
kind of and the supplements are something that you continually
pay for.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, it's you're going to be paying a bill to
stand on that supplement for the rest of your life.
If you're going to take it for the rest of
your life, which most vitamins, why would you not With
the sauna. You get our sauna. The thing's got a
lifetime warranty. It's all rated for fifty thousand hours up
to one hundred thousand hours of use. You're not going
to reach the life expectance yet.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
What is that in years? I mean, do you know.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
It's going to be over one hundred years using it
an hour day every day. So, yeah, this is something you're.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Your only chance of living to be one hundred is
if you get a SONA that's right.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
Well, it helps us for sure.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
You know, I am an advocate because I use a
sauna and I'll tell you what the part that you
don't hit on a lot, it makes you feel better
immediately afterwards.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Yeah, And that's you're talking.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
About the long term stuff all the time, the long
term term health benefits, and I get and that's what's
most important. But it's almost like a swimming pool on
a hot day, a sauna. When you get out of it,
you would think you'd be worn out because of all
the heat, but you're not. It refreshes you. And then
you run into a lukewarm I can't do a could shore.
I do a lukewarm shower. The cold ones, don't you.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Yeah, I got a cold plunge or I take a
cold shower.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
This is something we're gonna talk about in the second.
Have this cold plunge thing, because this is something new
to me. But you just feel refreshed, like and and
you know, if you go out and taiwan on on
a Saturday night, you get in the sauna in the morning.
It helps with that too, because a lot of times
you don't you're not drinking enough. You know, hydration is
(08:29):
a problem. Saunas forced you really to hydrate because you
get thirsty when you get.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Oh yeah, you drink my water intake From before I
started using a sauna every day to after, it's just
massive and more I take a lot more electrolytes, which
is then the more we hydrate, the better it is
for our skin.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
I was going to say that's and I'm not getting
fruity here, but you do. Your skin's very clear, and
and it does it makes the skin healthy. You can
tell I haven't been in mind.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Because have you been up north?
Speaker 2 (08:59):
I've been. Yeah, yeah, I've been up north putting in
a water feature with Dean Pepitos guys Aquatica.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
So oh nice. Yeah, how they doing good?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
They're doing great And.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I missed them at the homeshow because I wasn't able
to make it to this year's Wisconsin. Because you've been
traveling around well and you've.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Been promoted several times, so you do a good job
with the saunas. One of the things I love about
the way that you guys market your saunas is and
I think this is excellent. You go into your showroom,
you got everybody else's sauna there too. Yeah, and we
don't sell them, no, that's so cool because you can
you can literally compare.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Yeah, and a lot.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
That's the big question is people will come in and
they'll be like, Okay, so I'm looking at this sauna
at six grand seven grand. What's the difference between one
that I could buy for three grand four grand and
you it's you can see, I can point things out
on the picture and stuff like that. But when you
can actually see the quality difference, feel the car, feel it,
(10:02):
see it, touch it. I mean, it's a no brainer
at that point, and you just say here, come use it,
try it out, check it out, touch it, and it's
it's clear as to which one's gonna last a long
time and which one's going to be more effective.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Well, yeah, when you can actually see the products, there's
a lot of them that are really gaudy. They have
a lot of cool visual features and things like that.
But when you get as you explained to me when
I came in and looked at them, it's not the
same components though.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah, and it's with the different saunas out there, they
get caught up with different things. We got to make
it look very fancy, let's make it look really cool,
or we got.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
To use some special wood or put some special.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Tablet in the sauna and use all these special programs
at the end of the day.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
But the heat suffers.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah, And what's going to give us the health benefits,
make us feel like a million bucks and reduce our
risk for those diseases is the heat and the infrared heat.
And they don't put enough heaters in them, or they
use very cheap week heaters, or they don't put heaters
on the front wall, or you look at the panel
and you you think that the whole back wall is
one heater, and then you take the the covering over
(11:12):
it and you realize that it's a tiny little heater
that's like three feet but.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
You think it's a lot bigger.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
And then you look at websites and competitors, and all
of a sudden, they start selling this, and they start
adding this, and they start selling clothes. And what suffers,
their sauna suffers, and the customer service suffers. So our
mentality is, let's let's do one thing, and let's do
that one thing better than anybody else can do it.
And infrared saunas is what we do.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
And it's kind of it's kind of proving its point
because I mean, you guys are as far as I know,
you're the biggest noise in the business, right.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Yeah, oh yeah, definitely.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
No In realistically, the closest company that even comes close
is out of Kansas City, and everybody else is out
of California.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
So we're the big name and we've been doing it
a very long time.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
And if you look up our Google reviews, our BBB reviews,
it's it's unmatched.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Yeah, there's another thing coming up, an event coming up
that you guys are gonna be at that we're going
to talk about after break. Give out your information in
case somebody's thinking about or wants to get an idea
of how Sauna's working.

just think a sauna is a hot box that you
sit in To fiel sweat and but the health benefits
(13:45):
That i've learned from. You i've loved saunas for years
and never even knew what the health benefits. Were but
you guys are the biggest in the.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Business oh, yeah by.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Far and WHEN i first started getting into the sauna
world out nine and, eight nine years, ago uh people
AND i started working events and home shows and.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
Fairs, people it was a lot less.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Known people would come in and ask some questions And
i'd be, like, well you're thinking about putting one of
these in the, house and they'd, be, oh that would
you know when we hit the lottery and, NOW i,
mean we get people that come in the booth and they're,
like you know, what my husband's having some health issues
and our doctor told us that we need.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
To start using one of these and get one of.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
These so we're we're looking at putting one of these
in the house as soon as possible for us is less.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Than one chemo.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Treatment m. H. I, ACTUALLY i actually had a person
THAT i had been dealing with done In South carolina
over the phone for the last two, years and he
called me up about two days ago and he was,
LIKE i don't care what the price? IS i need
it now because his son in law got diagnosed with brain,
cancer SO i had to figure out how to get
them the sauna.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Immediately have you have.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
You had anybody any stories where you, know you guys
put one of these in a house of a person
who was going through.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Cancer it's it's all the.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
TIME i, mean every show that we every show that we, do,
uh every month, Online we're always talking to people that
have cancer that are looking to get one of these to.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Help anybody call you up after having a son and, say,
hey you know, what the recovery has been? Better, yeah
my best friend really, yep that's got to make you feel.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Good oh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Absolutely so he had stage four. Parataknosis it's in the stomach.
LINE i can't pronounce it, right and he was on stage.
FOUR i actually flew From massachusetts home because he was
supposed to pass away from the.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Cancer and.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
WHEN i came, back he actually was able to survive
that bout and they released him and he got the
sauna and started using it every day and he's been
cancer free for about six. Years knowledge, yeah he bought
a house up on the lake Four, yes oh, yeah
they literally called me and, said, hey you, know my
(15:58):
dad's going to pass. Away i'm very close with the
family and my dad grew up with his. Dad AND
i flew home and then WHEN i got, there he
was he was actually talking to.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
ME i couldn't believe.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
It and he's healthy.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Today mm hmm, yep cancer. Free.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Wow, wow that's. Huge, well how come we didn't tell
it story? Sooner that's a great story.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Man, yeah oh, y that's a.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Success so you got a big event coming. UP i
think it's probably one of the biggest fents In. Wisconsin,
yep oh, yeah tell us about.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
It so we're going to be at The Wisconsin State
fair coming up starting This, Thursday july thirty, first and
we have our big booth that you want to come
see us at is inside The Expo, center right in
the middle on the.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
That would be the west, wall The West.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
School centers where they always have the home improvement, Shows
nary and the remodelers. Show it's the big building, there, yep.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Exactly and if you go right to the middle of
the building with all the displays and you go on
the west, SIDE i, mean all you have to do
is look up and you'll see a massive sauna sign
hanging down from our, booth and we're going to HAVE
i think we got twelve to thirteen sauna set up
in that. Booth and then we also have a big
booth outside that's gonna be with master spots hot, tubs
(17:08):
and we're gonna have about four or five sauna set
up in that booth as.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Well and if memory serves, those all of the all
of the ones on the floor will be sold by
the last.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Day, yeah come, first come, early because the best deals
are gonna be on those floor, models and.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
You don't want to move.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Them, Yeah, no we always sell The we always sell
the floor models at every, event and they always go
first because you save the most amount of money that.
Way so but if you're coming the second, weekend those
are gonna be. Sold we'll still get you a great
deal on a brand new. Unit but if you're, looking
if money is a big thing and you need to
save the most amount of, money come that first weekend
and come see me inside the Expell.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
The floor models are brand new. Too, yeah they're always Brand,
yeah BECAUSE i never see you guys WHEN i come in.
There by the end of any, show everything says sold on. It,
yeah everything says. Sold so it's a big deal and
you can serious money, savings, Right oh, yeah you can
save some big.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Doughs oh, yeah you can see you're gonna save thousand.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Dollars AND i think another thing THAT i like about
your approach at the shows is you really do educate people.
There it's not just, hey we can do, this we
can finance. This it's not all about just, sell, sell,
Sell it's really about you need to learn about what
you're looking.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
At, yeah because we get we get a lot OF i,
mean we get a ton of people that come in
and buy it first, time they first see, them first,
time they talk to me about.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Them but some, PEOPLE i, think wait to come to
the show to get.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Oh, yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Yeah people wait to come to the show to get
the best deal on the. Sauna but there's a lot
of people at the home. Shows and you probably see
this at the home, Shows nick. Is they come to
the home show every, year and THEN i talked to
them for a, year two, years three, years and then
on the third year they've been up buying the. Sauna
they come, In, Hey, eric good to see you. Again we're,
Excited we're excited to see. You you know this is
(18:55):
the year we're ready to do. It So Kurzner construction
took care of our, Basement rema and a sauna is
all ready to.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Go we got the outlet ready To you.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Know what's funny IS i have a lot of friends
that come to the shows but to see, me but
come to the shows and they always stop by and, say,
HI i Bet i've had four or five previous customers
and personal friends of mine, say, uh we just bought a.
SONA i just had a friend a friend last. Year
they were looking at the massage chairs and the, saunas
AND i think they left with both of. THEM i
(19:24):
think they bought.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Both, yeah, no that they were. Fun that was a fun.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Couple. Yeah oh you know What i'm talking.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
About, yea YEAH i.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Do, yeah they're real.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Happy they're building a house right on a lake or.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
Something.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yeah, yeah, yeah it's it's. Funny it's just funny because
they came. Up so we're going to get a, sauna
And i'm, Like i've had one for. Really, yeah they're.
Great so tell me another thing that you brought up
That i'm NOT i, MEAN i know what it, is
BUT i didn't know you were engaged in cold. Plunge
talk about.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
That, Yeah so we we sell master spots cold. Plunges
so we got a couple of different. Models what's nice
about them is that they have an internal, chiller where
most of them out there have an external.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Chiller, okay so.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Cold, plunges it's it's like a hot a small hot
tub without the massage, jets but it's cold water and
it's cold shock. Therapy so we, uh we're experts in
heat therapy and we're experts in cold. Therapy and so,
people you can set the temperature of the water anywhere
from thirty eight degrees up to one hundred and four
degrees if you want. It but, really a cold plunch
(20:33):
is designed to be in the forty degree fifty degree temperature.
Range and similar to the benefits THAT i enjoy the,
sauna AND i look forward to using the. SAUNA i
hate using my cold plunge every TIME i stand in
front of it AND i stare at. It, yes BUT
i AND i go in. THERE i do it every
(20:55):
day BECAUSE i feel better after using, It like you
literally feel the hormones that endorphins hit your brain from
your blood that are released when you're in the cold.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Plunch, so you, Know i'm hearing more and more about
cold water. THERAPY i really. Am like they're saying you
should take like a five minute cold. SHOWER i got
a buddy that swears he does it every. DAY i
freak out IF i accidentally hit the AND i get,
it you. Know so it's it's you Gotta and they
say you build up to. It you can build up
(21:28):
to the.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Cold, yeah, absolutely so you start at a higher. Temperature you,
know it's. Funny every time somebody is gonna do a
cold punch with me for the very first, TIME i
know exactly how this is gonna.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Go, yeah they're gonna go in.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
It they're gonna try and slowly put their legs, in
slowly get down to their, chest and Eventually i'm just
gonna tell them to you gotta just gotta dive.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
