Speaker 1 (00:00):
Glad to have you with us, and so glad you
could join us for this final hour of the program
as we take you through a Wednesday afternoon and hopefully
everything goes all right as it is pretty warm out there,
pretty hot, so I hope you can stay cool out there,

(00:21):
because it's it can be kind of beastly hot out there.
Hopefully everything will go all right there and you can
stay cool as well. We will keep you posted on
a couple of things on it. Wednesday quite often turns
out to be getaway day for Major League Baseball teams

(00:46):
that are leaving to go someplace else to leave. And
the Rangers are batting in the bottom of the ninth
right now, scoreless, scoreless with the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, the
Rangers have the winning run ninety feet away. Would be
ashamed to win on a walk off and take three
of our last four. Craig, Hey, listen, I I hold

(01:09):
no will will toward the Texas Rangers. I was. I
wish I could actually watch them play too. It would
be nice, Uh you know, I I was. I was
pretty happy for them last year, winning winning the whole thing. Oh.
Jonah Heim reached on an enfield single there it is, or
did they get there? Did he get the runner home

(01:29):
from third? I don't know. The SBN play by play
doesn't make sense. Josh Young is is the batter with
runners on the corners and went out. Who's on first base?
That's probably Jonah him because I'm gonna I'm looking here. Well,
I'm okay. So he reached, Yes, Yes, he reached because

(01:50):
the second baseman was holding on, yeah, making sure that
Young didn't score. Oh, yep, yep, yep, okay, yep. So
that's that's where it is. So Josh Young is bad.
Now it's in the It may have just stole second base, Well,
that largely doesn't matter. Now in the bottom of the night,
it's all about that runner at third base. Now in
a scoreless ball game, that'll make all the difference. Helps

(02:10):
out with the double play, Well that's true because there
is only one out, so it does remove the double
play from that. Are you pretty much of the opining?
I heard Dan Patrick talking about it on his program
this morning. I'm not buying a burn orton suit, that's
what you're gonna do. No, no, no, I'm not gonna
ask you for that. I'm gonna ask you I'm I'm

(02:31):
glad you're not doing that. If you tried to do that,
by the way, on one of her road trips with
long worn basketball and you showed up in a suit
like that, you realize the amount of vitriol and grief
you would get from that basketball team and the coaching
staff and everybody else about you walking on there. I
would do it just I mean, that would probably take

(02:52):
some attention off the basketball team. Yeah that's true. Maybe maybe,
But then we got people throwing stuff at me and
next thing you know, Eddie Orrin got a dent in
his because the shoe. Yeah, that's it. That's a good
point up of that. Uh No, what I was gonna
ask you was Dan Patrick, uh seeing relatively convinced that

(03:15):
the m v P races are over for baseball? Yeah,
do you think they are? Tell you what? I've not
really been following it too closely, So okay, well, I
will tell you this. The American League MVP race I
think has been over for some time. That's gonna be
Aaron Judge. I can tell you who's not gonna win
m v P. Who's that? Anyone in the Rangers. But

(03:39):
I I'm bestie Bobby Witter Aaron Judge right would be
one of the Yeah, but Judge's numbers across the board
are are just quite I mean, Bobby Witt Junior is
having a fabulous season, so so uh Josh Young struck
out swinging by the way. So now it's up to
whyat Langford to be the hero again like he's been

(03:59):
of late. Got a walk off earlier this year and
had that game time three run homer against Boston last week. Anyway,
he Dan Patrick said it. You know, Bobby wit Junior's
had a really, really good season, but Aaron Judge's numbers
are off the chart. The National League MVP, I have

(04:23):
a little a little more doubt than he and some
others might to a lot of those guys, it's a
fate to complete that. It's going to be Showe a otmy.
And the reason why is show A is one home
run and two stolen bases away from being only the
sixth guy in baseball history to have a forty forty season.

(04:43):
He has hit thirty nine home runs, he stole his
thirty eighth base last night, and there are those who
believe he has a decent shot at at the first
ever fifty to fifty season. I don't think he's gonna
get to fifty first of all. By the way, in
case anybody knows he's in a slump, he's been struggling.

(05:04):
Like when he does come through, he knocks the ball
into the next county. I think they pointed out that
he had he'd been like six for his prior thirty nine,
but of the six, four were home runs. It was
that he had a triple last night. But there's there's
other guys. I think that that could possibly wind up

(05:27):
being the MVP as well. But the difference and the
significance would be is that if Otani wins the MVP,
it will be the first time ever in baseball history
that a d H has won the Most Valuable Player
Award if it happens. Rangers, by the way, just one
they've just won. Why at Langford the hero as it

(05:50):
so uh yeah, that's it. Rangers take two out of
three from the Pirates, they win one nothing, so that
only ten games back from Houston. There you go, The
climb is under Here come the Rangers. Are they let
me just check this will look at this. Are they closer?
Are they back to being closer in the division race? Yes,

(06:11):
in the wildcard, than they about two games by the
wild card because they were going into the day there
were twelve and a half back in the wildcard twelve
and a half back. So now like you said, here
they come in the West. Back to it that they're
ten games out now, ten below five hundred and ten

(06:34):
games out at fifty nine and sixty nine, and the
Astros at sixty eight and fifty eight hold at four
and a half game edge on the Mariners, pending the
outcome of tonight's game in Los Angeles between the Mariners
and the Dodgers. In the central Cleveland has been able
to just kind of tread water a little bit. They

(06:54):
won six of their last ten and picked up a
game because the Twins have struggled against the second hottest
team in baseball, the Arizona Diamondbacks. The hottest team in
baseball is the San Diego Padres, the Padres, who at
one point pulled it within two games of Los Angeles.

(07:15):
They're three games back of the Dodgers right now. They
have won some ridiculous number, it's something like twenty two
of their last twenty six or something like that to
pull it up. But anyway, they have just been just
on fire, and the Diamondbacks just to shade behind them
as well. So those have been the two hottest teams

(07:38):
in all of baseball, not just the National League. So
we'll see. And by the way, there's a couple of
different guys for the Padres and the Diamondbacks who could
wind up being in that MVP race if it's not
sho Hao Tony if he indeed, or Bryce Harper of
the Phillies would be a guy that could also be

(07:58):
in that race as well. You know how we're goal
post to college football is because has about eight million
different college football playoff prediction season predictions? Do they stories
all that getting posted? We I think it's prediction week,
So that me tells you it's week zero. If it's
prediction week, if we're if you're if you're reading an
article every day about season predictions, it might be prediction week.

(08:21):
You know why because they got to get the predictions
in and recorded before the first snap is played. Even
though even though the vast majority of teams all but
what do we say, four games involving Division one FBS
programs are the only ones going on this weekend. Hey,
Florida State's playing. So that's that's the team. Got a

(08:43):
top ten ranked team, no doubt. So plus you know
you got linden Wood playing next time. Yes, you got
that Linen Bills in. You have that Kansas versus lynden
Wood opener at David Booth Family Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas.
Yeah it is. Uh, I got a I got a

(09:07):
good look at when I went up for the last
ever game for Texas at Allen field House, at least
as a Big Twelve Conference member. I hope it's not
the last ever ever ever. Uh. And Rodney Terry and
Bill lan and Bill Land Bill Aann has announced he's
retiring the Spurs play by play boys, Bill self the

(09:28):
Kansas head coach, both have said they would like the
series to continue or to restart or whatever to resume.
They would like that to happen. Well, when went up
there to do that game back in late February, that
was the day you went down to Orlando to Central

(09:48):
Florida to do the women's game down there for us.
And UH, when I when I went, when I went
up to Lawrence, Kansas, I saw the work they were
doing on their football facilities because they have got some
money and are building that up. Kansas coming off, you know,

(10:10):
a vastly improved season, and Kansas favored to be one
of the dark horses in the Big Twelve. And they're
actually naturally ranked in one of the polls I did.
A ESPN has like a playoff predictor thing where you
you know, you pick whatever team and it kind of
simulates it. Really, Kansas was number two in the playoff

(10:32):
in ESPN simulation. What do you mean number two? They
were the number two seed. Oh stop it, number two
overall out of twelve teams and the college football left
Kansas was number two. Now, of course it's you can
rerun the simulation and it'll it'll, you know, spit out
different results. But the one I did, you know, Kansas

(10:55):
number two, So they yes be in simulator algorithm. Whatever.
Thanks Strayden, Daniels and kill and Daniels. Excuse me, Okay,
you is gonna make a run this year. You're not
buying it. Well, I'm just trying to figure out how
the computer came to that conclusion. Clearly, obviously the computer

(11:18):
picks Kansas to win the Big Twelve. You start with that. Secondly,
probably they'd have to be unbeaten, unbeaten. So they're gonna
have to get past Lindenwood to start that toward Bean,
and they're gonna have to win a Big Twelve championship.
Then that means that one of the Big ones, whether
it's Georgia or Ohio State or Oregon or maybe Taxes whoever,

(11:46):
has to fall by the wayside at least one. Uh so,
if not more. So, that's that's the part I'm finding
difficult to swallow that all of these there will be
several other teams fall by the wayside, and Kansas would
win the Big Twelve and that would be enough to

(12:09):
lock them in as the the two seed. You say,
I mean, I could see them being the second team
from the Big Twelve to land in the field of twelve,
and maybe I could see them winning the Big Twelve
conference championship. Maybe. Like I said, they're kind of viewed

(12:31):
as a dark horse in that in that area, gonna
be tell to get by Utah those I know, am
I So anyway, all right now you've forced me to
pull up Kansas schedule. I'll do that during the break here.
