Speaker 1 (00:00):
I want to talk about MLB trades potentially, because it
seems like everybody is unhappy with the best players, some
of the best name players, I should say, as well
on teams that just aren't doing anything. The Twins, the Pirates,
the Braves, all teams that have big name stars, all
teams that aren't really going anywhere this season. But we

(00:21):
got to start with this. This is the official NFL account,
so Texas and Cowboys, along with the NFL Foundation combining
to contribute one point five million dollars to the communities
of Central Texas after those floods this past week. National
Football League and now Sunday that the Texans, Cowboys and

(00:42):
NFL Foundation are contributing a combined one point five million
in relief. They went on staying in their statement, the
National Football Leagues to Texas based team, the Cowboys and
the Texans are united with the NFL Foundations to support victims, families,
and survivors of the heartbreaking floods in Central Texas. Together,
they will contribute the one point five million to provide
immediate assistance and long term resources to those impacted by

(01:05):
the catastrophic flooding. The death toll has risen over one
hundred individuals due to those floodings. There's still many individuals
still missing, so it is good to see that the
NFL stepping up to help the communities of Central Texas,
communities that we know very very well. Sagein Kerrville very

(01:27):
close to my heart at least in Boston. Red Sox
third baseman Alex Bregman, he spent nine years with the Astros.
He also was posting updates on missing individuals over the
weekend as well, So it's good to see the sports
community stepping up in a major way. Sometimes it's very
easy sports of the play or play pin the playbox

(01:51):
of a lot of news organizations. It's very easy to
think about these teams. It's just play things for billionaires
in a lot of ways. So when these leagues can
come together and actually make a true impact and really
do something to help contribute to those communities that they
are entertaining, and it's impactful and it's important that I
want to I want to give the NFL their due

(02:13):
when it comes to that, because it is very easy
with all of the bad things happening, all the bad
news that we're getting out of these floods. The heart
wrenching stories that we're hearing. It is very easy to
get bogged down in the negatives of everything, and I
think it's important to see that there are individuals and
groups that are stepping up to help in a big way. Okay,

(02:34):
now that we got that out of the way, I
want to talk about these potential trades because I don't
like that these players are already on the trade block.
I'm not a fan that we're already talking about somebody
as young as Paul's Schemes potentially getting moved now. Paul
Skins LSU National champion, number one overall draft pick, maybe

(02:55):
the most talked about baseball player who doesn't swing a bat.
He is the face I think of baseball for the
under twenty five group. Like when you talk about Paul Schemes,
you think about him in LSU. Of course, his girlfriend
Libby Dunn is essentially a coupling in a lot of
those sentences when you talk about it. But he is, yeah, yeah,

(03:16):
Cole knows he's by far the best starter in baseball.
He's potentially on his first Cy Young Award after a
full season, was the Rookie of the Year last year.
And the problem is is that the Pirates are awful.
The Pittsburgh Pirates, who you know, you'd hope would be
a little bit better with schemes and the way that

(03:36):
he's pitching. His era, I think is hovering around at two.
You hope that he'd be winning some games. Not the case.
Thirty eight and fifty four, there are seventeen games out
of first place behind the Chicago Cubs. They are abysmo
and he is under a team control contract through twenty
twenty nine. He doesn't even begin arbitration, which means he
cannot negotiate a new deal until twenty twenty seven. The

(04:00):
Pirates are years away from paying him any actual money.
I think he's getting paid like seven hundred and fifty
thousand dollars on a contract for again, potentially the best
player in baseball or one of the best pitchers, at
least in the National League. There's a lot of teams
who are in that conversation. They look for him. The
Detroit Tigers, who are leading the way in the American
League Central Division. They have some assets. This is one

(04:24):
that caught Cole's attention. The Los Angeles Dodgers. It's hard tone.
The Dodgers, it's hard to imagine the Dodgers. I know,
I know, it's hard to imagine the Dodgers, who are
already one of the best teams in baseball, making a
play for Paul Skins. But Cole, I'm gonna I'm gonna
make you throw up here, buddy. As a Giants fan

(04:46):
and as a guy who absolutely cannot stand the Dodgers,
I'm gonna make you hurl. If he's gonna go to
a team, and he's gonna play for a team, why
not play for a team that's gonna win games and
it's gonna be on TV every night and you're going
to care about what is happening. He's not in the
same camp as a guy like Cliff Lee. If you

(05:07):
remember Cliff Lee, when he was playing for the Cleveland
he got traded a couple times, ended up on the
Rangers for a little bit, was on the Phillies for
a little bit, but he was one of the best
pitchers in baseball CY Young Award winner, and again, Paul
Skin's younger arguably better than Cliff Lee. But when Lee
went to the Rangers, I was pumped up. I was
excited that he was going to be on a team
that could win a World Series and then he ends

(05:28):
up going to the Phillies with that staff, with Roy
Olswald and Cole Hamil's and of course Roy Holliday. That
was exciting because that's a team that you thought could
win some games. Now that Phillies team blew up in
a way that we haven't really seen a lot of
baseball teams stink it up when you have a pitching
rotation that good. But I would be excited if Paul

(05:48):
Skeins ends up on a team like the Dodgers, if
no other reason, because right now he's the most likable
star potentially in the sport, because he's a younger guy,
because he's so dominating, because he's so good, because he
is an easy guy to root for, because his team
is so bad and he's, you know, doing what he
does so far this season. It would be easy for

(06:08):
me to go down the route of, Okay, well, he's
a great player, he's an exciting player, but now he's
joining the evil Empire in La Now it'd be easier
for me to root against him in a lot of ways.
Four and seven in nineteen starts Cole Four in seven
and nineteen starts with a one nine four era. You
gotta get this man some help. And if that means
you had to ship him out somewhere, it might be

(06:30):
have to be done. You might have to make that happen.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Cole.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I think if he does get traded to the Dodgers,
I know Craig would be happy.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
And if he does get traded to.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
The Dodgers, I'm on record with you and my text
message is saying I will boycott this season. I won't
watch another inning. I say that tongue in cheek. Of
course I will, but it would just be gross. I
think all of the MLB community, everyone outside of La
maybe would be just kind of like really roll their eyes.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Really, you out of another star to this roster. I mean,
come on.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
But the other two teams that are interesting, and I
can see him going there because I mean, he's pretty
much being.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Held hostage in Pittsburgh. They gotta let him go.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
The two teams that surprised me are the Mets and
here's a good one which I would root for him
to go.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Here's Detroit. Detroit is my.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
I go, you know, Giants, Rangers, and then Detroit's in
there too.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I'm rooting for Detroit this year. As well.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
I would love for him to go to Detroit have
a chance to make a deep run here in the playoffs,
but they would have to give up a haul. So
the Mets, they're saying here, if they did, here's what
they would offer. Shortstop slash centerfield Jet Williams, right handed
pitcher Jonah Tong, right handed pitcher Nolan McLean and in
fielder Ronnie Mercurio. Oh and also Carson bend benj So,

(07:53):
I mean they're gonna get a good amount back for him,
and saying with Detroit, Detroit would offer or potentially for
Max Clark, shortstop Kevin McGonagall, right handed pitcher Jackson Joe,
infielder Colton Keith or right hander picture right handed pitcher
Sawyer Gibson locks. So if they can get a package
deal for him and get some pitchers back and maybe

(08:15):
a bet, that would be great. But anywhere besides the
Evil Empire, Craig, I know you're probably listening, and I
know you're rooting for him to go there, but they
got us, they got to trade him.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
It's just it's all bad.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
I mean, you're you're four and seven with a one
nine four era. I mean, he's getting no help out there,
absolutely none. And for the Pirates, you think, okay, you
have this generational star. If you're gonna move him, go
get a bunch of prospects back.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
That would be the way that I would look at it.
And you're right.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Of those teams, I think the Mets have maybe the
best farm system to send somebody back. I hope it's
not the Tigers, though it's been nineteen eighty four. Is
the last time the Tigers won the World Series? All right,
here's another one that caught my attention Byron bucks In
for the Twins. Now, if you're not familiar with buck
he he is a centerfielder designated hitter. The reason he's
had to move out of the outfield full time is

(09:06):
because of his injuries. This guy is an incredible defensive player,
but he seems to always put his body on the
line in in opportune times. We should say the Twins
pitching staff this year has been very bad. They haven't
been able to stay healthy. The Twins are under five hundred.
But buston, boy, oh boy, is he having a season.
It's the best season of his career so far. He's

(09:26):
on pace to have the highest war of his career.
He's thirty one years old. He's a very good defensive
outfielder if he needed to be. And he's only getting
paid fifteen million dollars a season, which, again to you
and me, a lot of money to Major League Baseball,
a drop of the bucket. So he has a good,
team friendly contract. He's exciting young ish players. Thirty one

(09:46):
years old, so exciting vet. Maybe he's in the home
run derby this season. I don't want the Twins to
move off of him. He's been a guy that they
saw or they drafted, they've developed. I'm really into if
you're going to develop tallent, keep that talent in the building,
don't just send it away. But you think about the
teams that could potentially make a run for him. The

(10:08):
Royals are rumored, the Phillies are rumored. I'm hoping that
they don't move off of him. Do in part because
I like Buckston in a Twins jersey. But this team
has been very bad recently. They're under five hundred. They're
not going to make a postseason run, and when they
do make the postseason, they tend to run into the
Yankees and just get buzz sawed. So if it means

(10:28):
moving off of Buckston. If you're gonna go get some
young talent, rebuild and then play for twenty twenty six,
maybe that's the move and then a Kurrna junior is
also spoken as a guy who might end up getting
moved at some point. He is coming off an ACL injury.
He was one of the most exciting young players in baseball.
After the knee injury, he struggled. It's the second ACL

(10:49):
surgery as well, so we will see. Brewers are rumored
to try to make a run of him as we
get closer and closer to that July sixteenth MLB trade deadline.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
See if any of those guys move.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
If one of him does, I would say Buxton would
be the most likely, call Schemes the least likely, But
the way the Pittsburgh runs their organization, nothing would shock me. Okay,
when we come back, Patrick Mahomes is going back and forth.
Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes trainer both going back and forth
with a radio host in Kansas City because he might

(11:23):
be poking at his doing middle section. We'll tell you
what that means next. Andrewsi will sitting in for Craig
