Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, coming to you live from our iHeart Studios
in Austin, Texas. I am Cameron Parker filling in for
Craig Weather today. That's because mister Way is in Atlanta
right now Media Day at the Peach Bowl and not
just a typical Steve Sarkisian press conference though every single
coach and player has been made available today and there's

(00:20):
some good quotes. The quotes are absolutely quoting today. We've
got some good stuff for you here on today's show,
So welcome in. Glad to have you with us, and
of course we want you to be part of the
show as well. You can always text us at our
text line text to where Texas to eight one five
three zero followed by your message, and of course use
our iHeart Radio app, the new and redesigned iHeartRadio App

(00:43):
to leave a talk back message. Just hold down that
red microphone. But to know, I want to hear all
your thoughts on this Texas Arizona State game that kickoffs
in less than forty eight hours. So as we get
in today's show, give you a rundown of what's to
come this week. Of course New Year's Eve tomorrow, New
Year's Day, Wednesday, we will not have local show. That

(01:05):
means no morning kickoff, no Craig Way show tomorrow or Wednesday,
but Texas plays football on Wednesday, so it works out
because we'll have Longhorn's Game Day live for you Wednesday
at nine am, myself hosting alongside Mike Hardball, hard In
the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry, and I believe we
have locked down a live location that will be broadcasting

(01:28):
from Taco Delhi that's going to have us out their
location off Burnett Road seven three zero one Burnett Road
in Austin, Texas. Will be there live from nine to
eleven am Wednesday, broadcasting our pregame show and then we'll
hand it off to our network coverage with Craig Way,
Roger Wallace and Will Matthews live from Mercedes Benz Stadium,

(01:49):
the second time Texas has played at Mercedes Benz. Second
time this month well you know New Year's Day actually,
so second time in two months, but about than less
than thirty one days Texas returning back to Atlanta or
they'll take on Arizona State. So we'll have that for
you on Wednesday and then Thursday Friday. Weird scheduling Craig

(02:12):
actually flies. That's right, Craig flies from Atlanta to Norman, Oklahoma.
I think either early Thursday morning or Wednesday night. I
can't remember, because Texas women's basketball opens up conference play
against the Sooners on Thursday night, and then Friday, Craig
will travel back from Norman work his way back to Austin. Friday,
I'll be traveling the college station as Texas opens up

(02:34):
their conference play men's basketball and c STAT on Saturday.
Excuse me, so Friday we will not have a local
show morning kickoff, will have it Thursday. I believe I'll
be hosting with Craig maybe checking in if not, a
lot to recap because hopefully Thursday's show will be celebrating
a Texas victory against Arizona State. But again, no Craig

(02:56):
Ways showed tomorrow or Wednesday. No morning kickoff tomorrow or Wednesday.
But we will have Long Corton's Game Day for you Wednesday,
starting at nine am up until eleven am, and then
Craig Way, Roger Wallace, and Will Matthews will take over
with kickoff right about at noon a little bit after.
It is the first game on Wednesday with four college

(03:19):
football playoff games, including one starting tomorrow night. Again this
format with four games. We'll get one for you tomorrow
night in the College Football Playoff, and then three games
coming your way on New Year's Day. Super It's super exciting.
I love this format so much. Tomorrow will be Penn
State and Boise State six thirty pm on ESPN, the

(03:39):
Fiesta Bal the six to three matchup. Who will play
the winner of Notre Dame in Georgia. That is a
Wednesday night matchup seven forty five pm. Of course, Texas
at noon, and then Oregon Ohio State. I think the
most anticipated game of the quarterfinal round four pm ESPN
Rose Bowl, and winner of that game will face the

(04:00):
winner of Texas and Arizona State. So there's a chance
that done a chance. If Texas wins against Arizona State,
they will play a quarterback who they've already played before,
either Will Howard or Dylan Gabriel. They've beaten Will Howard before,
remember that incredible goal line stand at DKR last year
against Kansas State right Byron Murphy and Defandre Sweat. Or
they'll play Dylan Gabriel, who left a pretty bad taste

(04:22):
in Texas fans mouth at the Cotton Bowl in two
thousand and twenty three, in which Oklahoma defeated Texas, the
only time Brent Vnnables has defeated Steeve sar ocasion. That's
what Dylan Gabriel, who's had a fantastic season. So let's
go ahead and start previewing this Texas Arizona State game again.
Craig Way will be joining us actually up next about
two seventeen pm live on stream yard as well, so

(04:46):
if you are listening or watching, of course, we do
stream this show live on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, and
Craig will be joining us in about ten minutes. Get
his thoughts on media day. He actually sat down to
day already with Quinn Yours, Burt Auburn shot a, I
think some others. We're gonna play that for you throughout
the show. There's audio, of course from Steve Sarkisian from
the day mentioned quin Yours already, stuff from Michael Taff,

(05:08):
Shoddy Baron, Alfred Collins, Gunner, Heelm, the works. It's gonna
be a great show. A lot of previewing this Texas
Arizona State and I want to start with kind of
the back and forth between Sam Levitt and Quinn Yours
and it's it's not so much a back and forth,
it's just quotes. Obviously, this past weekend, both teams did
their own separate zoom media availabilities. In Sam Levitt the

(05:31):
freshman the Rechert freshman quarterback for Arizona State. He's had
a fantastic season. He's a lot of fun to watch guys.
He's gretty, he plays hard, dual threat quarterback. And he
was asked about facing Quein yours. And this comes on
December twentieth, So this is what a couple of days ago,
this was his his thoughts on facing quin Yours in
the Peach Bowl. Let's try this a second time. The

(05:57):
second let's en mute maybe Sam Levitt's thoughts on facing
quin Yours in the Peach Bowl. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I watched them for from out of tom Now and
I'm just excited for the opportunity.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
You know, people keep calming me out since day one,
and you know, I'm gonna I'm gonna go prove on
the better quarterback, you know, And that's how I feel
since day one.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
So I'm gonna go play everybody on the map. Okay,
So you know been counting out since day one. I
think we're good for at least one player singing that,
at least in some sort of pre game or postgame interview. Now,
Quinn Yours was asked about Sam Levi's comments today. Yeah,
I mean I saw it, and you know, just congrets
with them on a great year in a great season.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
I've a got to watch watch some of their games,
and you know.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
He's a he's a he's a talented player, and uh,
you know they're they're a fun offense to watch. And again,
just excited to excited to be up against him.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
So Quinn Yours takes the high road. Now, Sam Levitt
today again at media Day, I'm not sure who who
asked this question, but Levitt again was asked about his
comments about wanting to prove that he is the better
quarterback in the Peach Bowl, and Levitt backed it up.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
He said, the other day, you wanted to take this
opportunity to prove while you're the best quarterback in this game.
And it picked up some traction. A lot of people
kind of put headlines on that. Are you surprised by
how much that story kind of got legs and took off.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I don't I don't really have any expectations going into
the comment. You know, I just answering the comment, you know,
to my fullest belief. And you know, I hope that
every player on the field goes that they're the best.
That's how it should be. And you put all this
work in and get to this stage. So why would
you not believe that yourself.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Were you getting notifications about how the story was kind
of blowing up?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, I turned off on ocasions always, so I don't
really have them on during the.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Season and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
But when I open up that, yeah, now I see
it gropulve it, which is cool, you know, getting my
name out on the stage.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
A little bit more so you were okay with that?

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Yeah, why you.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Know, it's just I don't feel like publicity is bad,
especially if you're not saying anything, you know, and just
being able to put that on the stage. And you know,
Quen the yours is such a you know, a big
time college football you know, so you know, and now
that's going to be a big talk in the show
and they can go into the game and you know,
people are gonna be watching for stuff like that. So
It's just opportunity for me to go prove myself.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
I have no issue with either these comments, no issue
at all for Sam Levitt. I mean, what do you
want him to say? You know, I want to prove
I'm the second best quarterback in this Bowl game. No,
I like the confidence. And if you were an Arizona
State fan and you're Kay Dilliam, you like the comments
as well. Now, of course you are providing maybe bulletin
board material, but in the day and age of social media,
I'm not sure that even exists anymore because we have

(08:33):
everything at our hands. Everything that's said, quoted, tweeted, talked
about is automatically, you know, posted anywhere. So I like
his comments. You know, go ahead. You want to be
a confident quarterback. And you know he said it in
the second interview where I hope everyone feels the same way.
Every player should feel like they're the best player in
the football field, right. You need that type of confidence,

(08:53):
and for quin yours response, I like it as well too.
Just take the high road. You know, there's no point
in getting into a back and forth because you can
just prove who's a better quarterback on the field. On Wednesday,
starting at noon, and I think we'll see quin youwers
do that in this game. Levit's had a fantastic season.
A big fan of the way he plays football. He's
a very efficient quarterback. Against Iowa State just twelve to

(09:14):
seventeen two h or nineteen yards, three touchdowns does not
turn the ball over a lot. Twenty four touchdowns to
five interceptions this season. It's been a fantastic quarterback. But
it also helps when you have skim Cam Skataboo, who
has been maybe the second best running back in college
football this season. If you ask Craig Way, he'll tell
you that. He'll tell you that he should have won
Big twelve Offensive Player of the Year. But Skataboo over

(09:36):
two thousand yards is from scrimmage this season, fifteen hundred
on the ground over five hundred in the year. He
is going to be obviously the guy to watch in
this game. But if Texas is able to take away
the run against Arizona State, which I think they'll be
able to do, sam Levitt will get his wish. Because
if Sam Levitt wants to prove he is the better quarterback,
he is going to have to play a k club

(09:58):
Nick times one hundred tigh game on Wednesday, because we
saw Texas shut down the run from Clemson Clemston team
with Kate Clubnick and they still lost by double digits.
Texas still covered, and that was with Kaid Koupnick maybe
playing the best game of his college career. He was
phenomenal in that second half against Texas and it still
was not enough for so Sam Levitt saying, I'm going

(10:20):
to prove in the better quarterback. Hey, Bud, you'll have
your shot come Wednesday, because if Texas shuts down Cam Skataby,
which I think they'll be able to do, it'll all
rest on the shoulders of Sam Levitt. And I'm not
sure he's had a game like that yet this season.
The show that he is the best player in the field,
but we will find out on Wednesday. We are just
getting started on this Monday here, because up next, Greg

(10:43):
Way joins live from media day at the Peach Bowl
as Texas takes on Arizona State less than forty eight
hours away from kickoff. Well of all the preview covers
here on today's show, We're just getting started
