Speaker 1 (00:00):
This being a long Orange Monday, we hear from head
coach Steve Sarkisian. We'll hear more from Start coming up.
In the next segment of the program, Texas gets ready
for the Warhawks of u EL Monroe. They were off
this past weekend. They are two to zero coming in.
They have wins over Jackson State not so impressive, but

(00:20):
whenever UAB, which was impressive.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
So that'll be the that'll be called.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
So I'm getting ready, Cameron Parker for the quarterback matchup
of the year. In all probability, you're going to have
Arch Banning for Texas and General Booty for ul M.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Yes, sir.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Now, remember General Booty was a quarterback at Oklahoma and
when Nil first cook in the year, he had the
Nil deal with those Boxer brief companies, they had Booty
on them and whatever it ends up transferring to Louisiana
Monroe and fortunately for Texas fans, we finally get that
Booty matchup.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
That'll be happening. That'll be coming up.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
And by the way, were they are they two and O?
They're two and oh yeah, they're.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Coming off the last but hey, like I said, the
win over Jackson Stein, eh it's a swax go and
not that big a deal.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
The win over UAB, that's impressive. Yeah, over Trent Dilferd.
Yeah yeah, so yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
So when we heard Sark talk about them a little bit,
we're gonna hear him talk more about his football team
coming up here in just a few minutes. All right,
Over the weekend in college football, what jumped off the
page at you as much as anything outside of the
Texas game.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Well, there's a few games that I had circled because
of upset potential. A and M in Florida, which I
don't know if you consider that upset or not. But
Marcel Reid, don't look Texas fans. He looked really good.
He did with all the concerned with Connor Wigman in
the offense not looking great, And is it really is
a Jimbo's offense or Mike Oco's offense looks the same,
look a lot different. I think the last time A

(02:00):
and M won a road game was two thousand?

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Was it twenty twenty one?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Twenty twenty one, They've gone two full they'd gone two
full seasons without a road win.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
And did it in the swamp. You say what you
want about billion Apier. That was a Florida team that
needed to win that game, and A and M looked
really good in that one. So that was a big
victory I think for the Aggies in their offensive line,
I thought controlled the game against Florida. And we'll see
what happens with Florida because now both Florida and Florida
State have two coaches who are on the hot seat. Now.

(02:30):
Napier a lot hotter than Jayane Overell considering that Norvelle
was in the Collegetball playout this past year, but there
might be some changes in games will before October ends,
he was close to.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
The college football playoff.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, that's right, Sorry, you didn't get in the college
football playoffs. Then they lost sixty three to three. Did
Georgia and the Orange budle after that, But you're right,
it's difficult times in Tallahassee because after losing to Georgia
Tech and then losing.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
To A.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Boston in College Now, they turned around it and lost
to Memphis and Memphis kind of dominated them, dominated the
line of scrimmage, dominated defensively, had them to twelve points
and that was at Dope Campbell Stadium.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
So that was one of the headliners, for sure.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
The mere fact that Georgia was pushed to the hilt
by Kentucky was a grinder. If you probably asked most
Kentucky fans, how would you feel if you new Advents
are going to lose by only one point to Georgia.
Most would have said, Hey, I feel good about my

(03:35):
football team. And yet when it happened the way it did,
they came out of a grumbling and growsing about how
Mark Stoops decided not to go for it on fourth
and eight and punted, and they didn't get the ball
back after that until it was too late.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Georgia didn't score a single point until the under four
minute mark in the second quarter. Number one team in
the country and that punt from Kentucky. We were all
watching it, in fact, in the see in the Moncreeve
Complex and waiting for Arch Manning to come out, and
we were all wondering, we're Arch, what's gonna happen here?

(04:09):
It was pretty funny before he finally walked in. But
we all our cell phones up and we're just watching
the game. And what an interesting punt.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
You know.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Week one you had the Raiders, who they lose to
in week when I can't remember, but Antonio pargers, they
had that weird fourth and one didn't punt. There's another
game yesterday in the NFL the same thing. And then
here with Georgia and Kentucky fourth and fourth and what
was it, eight fourth and eight?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Yeah, I mean, you gotta.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Go for it, right, and they get They did get
the ball back for two plays, but you knew that
if Georgia got one first down the game was over
with yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, And Stoops, for his part, said he didn't regret
anything or you know.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
One thing about those Stoops guys. They don't.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
They believe in what they're doing to the extent where
they rarely, if ever, take the blame if they if
they lose. Hey, when Big Game Bob dropped the game,
it wasn't his fault. It was his it was you
know what he said, Well, in our football team didn't
play well enough. We didn't we didn't block well enough,

(05:14):
we didn't tackle well enough. We just got to do
a better job. And that that would be about it, really,
you know. So anyway, they didn't, they didn't. It didn't
happen for them. So that was that was unfortunately for Kentucky.
Georgia survived, but because they only survived coupled with the
Texas big win, that's why Texas slid past them into
number one.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I mean, if you're a Texas fan, I think you
feel better about that Texas Georgia game, But on the
on the flip side, that game against Kentucky when they
come to dk R before a and m uh. I
know everyone hates the word trap game, but that's a
game that you cannot take lightly because Kentucky, say what
you want, they seem to always get up for the
big games, at least against Georgia. And you know, Stoop said, Oklahoma,

(05:57):
he has that. You know that hatred sherd hatred for
Texas is those boys will be ready to play and
by November they'll probably be a much better football team
than they are right now in September.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
And I'm sure a lot of long Run fans are
already hearing this. I've heard from some people I know
that you know are really In fact, it was even said.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
To me, Uh, you know, other than other than.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Texas fans, the rest of the free world is is
dreading the fact of Texas being number one. YadA, YadA, YadA,
and a lot of that's just fans stuff with fans.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
So you don't want to be number one? So what
do you want to be?

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Zero and three? No? No, no, no, but no, I know
what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I've seen the same sentiment from Texas fans on social
media and message sports website. It's like, so, do you
want to be good.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Or do you not want to be good?

Speaker 1 (06:43):
No? No, this is this is somebody telling me that
anti Texas fans uh huh, anti anti are dreading the
fact about them being number one. No having to deal
with them, you know, so and so forth. Because you
have such an easy schedule. That's the other thing it said.
Do you have such an easy schedule? First of all,
you have three rivalry games on it, none of which
are in Austin, So none of that ever makes it easy,

(07:06):
no matter how good the football team is. So you
start with that. Then you have Georgia coming into town. Amen,
And like you said, Kentucky looks good. I mean you
have to you have to play the games. You have
to go and play the games. And that's what Sark
means when he talks about that journey that they're on.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
And they play the defending national champions at their stadium,
riding a twenty three game home winning street.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
So schedule get up. Yeah, it's going to be. That's
always going to come up though. All right, coming up,
we're going to hear more from coach Sark.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
We'll do that.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
We'll look at more of your texts as well as
they come in on our text line as we continue
