(00:03):
Piece of Texas legend, a Hallof Fame broadcaster, the voice of the
Texas Longhearts, and your host ofthe Craigway Show. Here he is now,
Craig Way. A shortened week forus with the holidays with July work

(00:34):
on Thursday, so no local programminghere on our end on Thursday and Friday.
Of course, if you still wantto get your box ors fix,
it will be here, but theGreg Way's Show in harts Knock's Life will
not be on the air Thursday andFriday. Dallas Cowboys aren't the only team
dealing with their own contract disputes andtrying to renault renegotiate deals in the NFL,

(01:02):
including with the San Francisco forty nineers in Brandon I Yuk, the
star wide receiver entering the last dealat last year of his contract, and
both sides have been far apart intheir destructure in their talks. Last month,
the San Francisco Chronicles Mike Silver reportedthe team had offer Ayuk an approximate

(01:26):
yearly salary of about twenty six milliondollars per year, about nine million dollars
less than what Justin Jefferson just gotin his deal. Ayuk wasn't really happy
with that and was frustrated with thatnumber going public. He won on the
Pivot podcast this past week and said, quote, it's a little bit frustrating,

(01:46):
especially when we're getting down to thedetails like that, like we're putting
down exact numbers and negotiations where thetalks the team and my team, we're
trying to work through things, workthrough a lot of things. So for
actual numbers and actual stuff like thatto come out, I think that's it
a little bit. I felt likeit was a little bit disrespectful, a
little bit unfair than me, Butthat's part of it. That's just part

(02:07):
of it. Obviously, I Yukand the forty nine ers have gone back
and forth and we've seen some youknow, petty social media stuff. You
know. Always the the biggest thingis when a player, Andrew will unfollow
all of the social media team's accountson their Instagram or Twitter, or they'll
delete all the pictures off their profile, which sometimes means something Klay Thompson did

(02:30):
it now he's a Dallas Maverick, and sometimes it does not. Giannis has
done it, I think forty thousandtimes and he's still in Milwaukee, so
I you excited. A few timeshe has expressed that he would like to
play for San Francisco. When askedh if he could see where he would
see himself playing this next year,he would say, to take a guess,

(02:52):
probably in San Francisco. But ifnot a Niners' uniform, quote,
probably a Washington commander uniform. Andif not a Washington commander uniform, then
probably a Steelers uniform end quote. The athletics Diana Rossini has reported previously that
if the forty nine Ers were thetrade either Deebo, Samuel or Iyuke,

(03:13):
it would more likely be Debo thanit would be a Yuke. But a
bizarre situation here, Andrew, andit's not just the Cowboys fans who have
to deal with it, but alsoSan Francisco fans well, both those franchises
trying to win their first Super Bowlsince the nineties. Cam and Look.
As a fan of these teams,it does bother me a little bit,
Like I'm rooting for everybody to getpaid. I am not rooting for the

(03:35):
teams to be making a ton ofmoney. I'm rooting for the players get
paid. It bothers me a littlebit when stuff like this happens where.
Yeah, it's the petty unfollow everybodyon social media type of thing. I
missed the good old days cam whenif a player was upset, they came
on the radio, they told everybodyhow upset they were, and then we
just cut it from there. Butnow let's go on a podcast. You

(03:55):
give what your top three teams youwant to play for? Oh what is
this? Like? Come on?Just tell us, Hey, my agent's
working on a deal, and ifhe's not going to get a deal done,
I'm excited to play for a bunchof other teams. Because let me
tell you as a Vikings fan,as a Cowboy fan, like, if
he's saying I'd rather play in Washingtonor Pittsburgh, well, I don't want
my team trading for him then, because I want to get a guy who

(04:16):
wants to be in Minnesota, wantsto be in Dallas, right, Like,
what are we doing here? Idon't want to hear your top three
teams? Do? What is thisfantasy football? And if Cowboys fans and
I don't know who would be frustratedthat Cadi Lamb's holding out of me.
He's just doing what's best for himat least he's not going on podcasts,
he's not going live on Instagram withother quarterbacks from on different teams or other

(04:40):
teammates talking about moving. He doesn'thave his brother, you know, posting
on Instagram. This is the exactreason why we want to leave San Francisco,
as aux brother did or best friendthat I can't remember on Instagram after
San Francisco lost to Kansas City inthe Super Bowl. The fact that you're
upset you lost the Super Bowl, that's bizarre to me when so so many

(05:00):
other teams can even get to theplayoffs or win a playoff game. Dallas
Cowboys looking at you. But again, this goes back to my point the
way about building around your teams. Now, San Francisco obviously has a lot
more money tied up into other players, especially on defense, but also offensively
with Christian McCaffrey and possibly Deemo Samuel. But for a quarterback like Brock Purty,

(05:23):
you got to make sure he hasas many weapons as possible at his
disposal, and they still came upshort in the Super I look at it
this way too, Cam that inthe Kyle Shanahan system, I'm not really
so concerned about who's on the otherend of catching these passes. I'm not
really even concerned about who's throwing thepasses. I'm more about the system,

(05:43):
who fits the system. And ifBrandon at Yu wants to go to Washington
in a rebuilding situation or Pittsburgh wherethey're trying to figure out if Justin Field
is going to be returning kickoffs, have at it. If we can get
a pick from the Steelers, ifI was a forty nine, I'd love
that for semi second round pick.Send me a first round BI because I
know it's gonna be a sweet pick. Because granted at Yuk, great player,

(06:05):
very good player, not a gamechanger. Putting him on Washington,
putting him on Pittsburgh, that's notgonna change anything. Those both teams that
are gonna miss a playoffs this year. And if he wants to be part
of that, God bless him, good luck, have fun on the East
Coast. It does seem like bothAyuk and Lamb's contract disputes could turn into

(06:26):
holdouts in the training camp. Ithink San Francisco is a little bit more
helpful. They'll get a Dill donebefore the Cowboys are with CD Lamb,
which is weird. I was gonnaadd one more thing, which is really
weird. So a player is actingcrazy on social media cam Ceedee Lamb acting
very normal behind the scenes, juststaying quiet, and his contracts gonna get

(06:46):
done, but Ayux is, wellwe rewarding bad behavior that doesn't make sense.
Yeah, and I wonder, youknow, I don't know if John
Lynch is really paying attention to toomuch of that stuff as well. I
mean, Ayuk's obviously just a hugepart and he's a fantastic receivers, so
I think most teams would ignore that. Now, Jerry Jones might be someone
that wouldn't want to put up withit, but that's just part of the

(07:09):
business. There's many other athletes whohave kind of thrown their fit on social
media, have thrown their fit onradio shows, TV shows, what have
you not, and they still endup getting a deal done real quick.
Some of their headlines from across thesports world NBA wise, Kimba Walker,
four time NBA All Star, ofcourse, won a national championship at Yukon

(07:31):
with that fantastic run that began inthe Big East Conference tournament and translated to
the NCAA tournament where Kimba Walker andYukon won that national championship. Has officially
announced his retirement on social media today. Thirty four years old. Last played
for the Dallas Mavericks at the endof twenty twenty two season. Played in

(07:55):
the EuroLeague for as Monico. Thispast year, posted on Twitter that he
has retired. And Andrew Kemba Walkerwas one of the first players I ever
got to see play live in Charlotte. I went to a handful of Charlotte
Bobcats games in Charlotte Hornet's games, and now unfortunately never had a good supporting
cast around him, or a goodcoaching staff or a good front office staff.

(08:18):
But one of the most fun playersto watch in person, and it
was good for a couple, ifnot more, buzzer beaters or game winning
or crunch time shots because Bobcats Hornetsusually were in those type of contests.
But Kemba Walker officially retiring at thirtyfour years old, was the number nine
draft pick coming out of Yukon.I made the All Star team for three

(08:43):
straight years, including his first seasonas a member of the Boston Celtics.
Was part of that big blockbuster deal, but injuries began to derail his time
into Boston, was trad of theOKC and then wait in twenty twenty one.
Only appeared in forty six games afterthat. But Kemba Walker a fantastic
NBA career. Not sure if he'sHall of Fame worthy, but three four

(09:03):
time All Star and a fun basketballplayer to watch as that is Cardi at
Kamba. I loved watching him whenI was in middle school in high school.
When he was on the Celtics,I was hopeful that that coaching staff
and training staff could keep him healthy. I do think he replaced Kyrie Irving
on those teams, which, look, you know, Kyrie is a little

(09:24):
bit of better player than Kemba Walkerat that point in his career. Hall
of Famer, Hall of very goodfirst ballot for sure. And quick.
Two other notes before we hit thisbreak, Donovan Mitchell agreeing to a three
year, one hundred and fifty milliondollar extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This
comes after the Cavaliers playoff exit anda lot of smoke surrounding the future of

(09:46):
the team between Mitchell's relationship with DariusGarland and other members. Of course,
Cleveland firing their head coach and hiringJB. Bickerstaff as their next head coach
or excoose me Kevin Atkinson? Right? Was Akinson who was hired as an
or was he fired? See?I can't keep up with these NBA coaches
because they Trent. They get firedand rehired every other week. I believe

(10:07):
it's Kevin Atkinson as the next ClevelandCavaliers head coach. And also real quick,
James Wiseman, the former number twooverall draft pick the Warriors, has
agreed to a two year contract withthe Indiana Pacers. We'll talk more NBA
next because Carl Shoning from the AustinSpurs will join us here on The Scregway
