Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, what sounded familiar was the King himself his voice.
I just didn't know which song. Oh yeah, yes, okay,
I do love me some George Strake. I've been I've
seen him twice in concert. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
I mean it's one of those bucket lists and I
don't want to give away too much for next week.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Yeah, but he might make that list.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Oh yeah, very good. See because I mentioned the music
survey that's coming up three o'clock hour, and it's one
day earlier this week too, but you say you're good
for next Friday, right Friday, whatever, whichever day? Yeah, yeah,
all right, yeah, so Cole's going to do it next week.
(00:42):
Cole Dixon is our next man up to h to
take the music survey. And so we'll have this week's
edition of coming up the three o'clock hour today with
Mike Hardball. Hart, you did hear the promo coming out
of the break that your station for Round Rock Express Baseball,
(01:03):
And we do have the Express game tonight from Chickasaw
Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. They played the Oklahoma City Comets.
That's the Dodgers Triple A affiliate. This this is the
Triple A team that has undergone a myriad of name
(01:23):
changes of the years. A lot of minor league baseball
teams do this anyway, but they've had several. I mean,
this goes all the way back, gosh, back into the
sixties and seventies. They were the Oklahoma City Indians when
they were the Indians Triple A. Then they were the
Oklahoma City eighty nine Ers because of the Oklahoma land
(01:46):
rush and the Sooners or as a lot of long
worn fans referred to land thieves who jump who jumped
the start time and went in that. But anyway, they
were the eighty nine Ers for years. Our friend and
colleague and three time all the mari Keith Morland was
in Oklahoma City eighty nine or when they were the
Phillies Triple A team, and he used to wear those
(02:06):
pill box caps that they had that were all in
vogue back then. Then they became the Oklahoma City RedHawks,
and then just changed to the Oklahoma RedHawks when they
were the Ranger Triple A for a long time. Then
they became the Dodgers Triple A club, and for a
(02:29):
while they were the Oklahoma City Dodgers, which sounded kind
of weird. And then the Dodgers divested themselves of that.
They had a different ownership group by them, so then
they couldn't be the Dodgers anymore. So last year they
went as the Oklahoma City Baseball Club. I think it
was he was in the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, kind
of like the Washington football team. Remember when Washington went
(02:50):
from the Redskins and then became the Washington football team,
and now they're the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, they're trying to go back, though I heard there are.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Those who are saying that. My wife, by the way,
she liked Washington football team. In fact, she liked it
so much I ordered her like a long sleeve T
shirt that said Washington Football team on it because she
liked and she grew up in Dallas, so she didn't
like it when they were the Redskins. She was a
Cowboys fan sort of, but she didn't, but she liked
Washington football team. But anyway, they changed the name this
(03:19):
year to the Oklahoma City Comets, so that's what they
are now, the Oklahoma City Commets. The Dodger Triple A
they won yesterday over the Express fifteen to one day game,
but they'll go back and play again the night it's
I think it's one, two, three, four, five. Yeah, it's
a six game series, and that happens in Triple A lot.
You settle in places and play there for five or
(03:40):
six games, because then they come home after the off
day on Monday and they play a six game homestand
against the Tacoma Rainiers, which is the Mariner's Triple A.
But you'll be able to hear it tonight six fifteen airtime.
Ryland Cobret is the call and first pitch at seven
oh five, the Express taking on the Oklahoma City comments.
(04:04):
All right, NBA. The NBA Finals tonight, Game six in Indianapolis.
The big wait and see situation is whether Tyrese Haliburton
can play for the Pacers. He did confirm yesterday he
is dealing with the right calf strain. He added that
(04:25):
he'll do whatever he can to play. It's a must
win after all, for Indiana, it truly is must win.
In other words, if they don't win, the season ends.
He said, I have to understand the risks, ask the
right questions, but I'm a competitor. I want to play.
I'm gonna do everything in my power to play. Rick
Carlisle said he's going through shoot around the day and
(04:47):
the workout.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
He said.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Our prep session is late in the afternoon. They'll get
together do some testing that will determine whether he plays
or not. If he doesn't play, we have a plan obviously.
If we're without him, well, that makes me think of
the old Mike Tyson phrase. Everybody he has a plan
until they get punched in the mouth, and that's going
to be a gut punch. If they don't have Halibert
on the floor. I don't know that they can.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Win, No doubt him. No, I don't even think they
can win with him.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Here's what they've been doing with He's been trying every
treatment that they could possibly come up with, hyperbaric chambers, needles, massage,
electronic stimulation, special tape. So it's a strained right cap.
(05:34):
He said, have a lot of trust in our medical staff,
have a lot of trust in our organization to make
the right decision. I think there's been many situations through
the course of my career where they've trusted me on
my body. I want to be out there. That's the plan. Yeah,
and then Carlisle also said he's going to be carefully
evaluated and will likely be listed as questionable on the
(05:56):
injury report, probably will be a game time decision. One
would think that even if he's a game time decision
and it's in the affirmative that he can go, he's
not going to be one hundred percent, and you know
if he's and there were some they came into some criticism,
came in for some criticism when he played with it,
(06:19):
but it wasn't as acute as it had become during
Game five. So clearly they knew that he was not
in good shape after that. So if they had had
to play Game six yesterday, I don't think he could
have gone. The fact they had one extra day off
give him a little extra time to work with it, rest, stimulation,
(06:39):
all that other stuff I mentioned, needles and you know,
massaging and this and that to try to get it together.
Sometimes the body's just gonna heal when it's ready to heal,
all right. So that is game number six tonight in Indianapolis.
If the Pacers win, Game seven will be Sunday back
in Oklahoma City. One time. I'm I have, as they say,
(07:04):
uh what, no dog in the fight or whatever you
whatever phrase you want to use.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah, no skin in the game.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, yeah, none of that. Uh, but I am rooting
for Indiana to win, and I want a Game seven. Oh.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Of course, I've been rooting for Indiana this whole time,
have you.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yeah, they don't like no, No, I just I have
a hard time with the MVP of the league having
the nickname the free throw Merchant.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
I just I have an issue with it.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Well, I mean, if if guys are going fall him,
you know, I mean a hard time stopping Shay Gilds
is Alexander and drives to the buckets like foul him
a lot.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
He's everywhere. But yeah, and he is the MVP. He is.
It's the theatrics that I don't like.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Okay, I'm rooting for Haliburton man and and you know,
Indiana a small town.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
It's just I don't think it's their time.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Yet, but I'm rooting for him. Indiana does have a former, lost,
long worn other team, Miles Turner, of course, played to Texas,
so I'd like to see it get to a Game
seven and then Game seven be just an epic game
whoever wins. Cameron, of course, is a huge Thunder fan.
That's his team, Oklahoma City Thunder. I had no idea yep.
(08:14):
And my youngest son Jason also and I think it's
for the same reason Kevin Durant when he was playing
there before Katie ended up leaving afterwards. But that's tonight,
so we'll see how that goes all right, Coming up
next Inconceivable on a Thursday afternoon here on Thursteen to
under the Zone.
