Speaker 1 (00:00):
Third and final hour of this program here on Sports
Radio AM thirteen under the Zone Way, joined by the
producer Cameron Parker, getting ready for another round of football conversation.
In baseball, we'll get some baseball we'll get to this hour.
Also going to hear more from Steve Sarkisian as well.

(00:21):
And the Longhorn football team is having another practice. It'll
be early this evening. And then when they get done,
I think they're going to have a couple of players
made available. They'll be and that might even be a
zoom thing that they do like they did yesterday with
sorry the reason why they had to do that yesterday

(00:44):
instead of an in person media hip. But there was
a concert, wasn't there last night at Beauty Center.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
I don't remember who the act.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Was someone I think it was Christian Adam.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
I expelled the last uh no od al? Oh okay,
all right, maybe somebody on the text it's a he's
a boy, yes, go ahead, go ahead?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
What He is mainly known for popularizing maria keno, a
fusion genre between mariachi in Nordeno music. Okay, okay, so
I think I just said all three words and correct this.
It's okay, so let me get correct this on the
text line.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
By the way, if you want to text the program,
you're welcome to do. So all you do is you
text the word Texas follow by your question and comment
to eight one five three zero. So you text the
word Texas follow by your question or comment like Cam
just butchered that performer's name. If you want to say that,
all right, tell us how let's correctly pronounced to eight

(01:54):
one five three zero. Standard messaging in data rates may apply.
He probably got the performer's name right. The genre of
music might have been a little okay, I don't hammer me, no, no,
I'm trying to help you here. I'm saying that I
think you got the performer's name pretty much right. Just
the genre of music maybe not quite. Could roll my rs,

(02:15):
it'd be a little bit to there you go, there
you go. So anyway, you can text the program with
anything with the question or comment on your mind. And
also we do have a talkback feature if you would
like to leave us a voice message that we would
play on the air. You access us via the talkback

(02:35):
feature like we did when we were doing the magazine
giveaway for Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
And what you do.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Is you pick up your iPhone or your Android, whatever
your smartphone. And if you don't already have the iHeartRadio
app on your phone, you need to have because you
can listen to all kinds of stuff for free, including US,
so you would download it. But if you already have it,

(03:02):
that's fine. You go to AM thirteen hundred. The zone
on the iHeartRadio app really easy to do. It's all free,
there's no charge or anything like that. And there's a
white button that you would push just to listen to us.
If you want to leave us a message. On talkback,
there's a red button has a little white microphone in it.
You push that button, you can leave us fifteen twenty
twenty five second message. Don't go beyond thirty seconds or

(03:23):
it'll cut you off. But somewhere in that area fifteen
to thirty seconds, you can leave us a message on
whatever it is you'd like us to discuss, or what
you'd like to comment on, or the question you might have.
You can do that on the talk back feature. It's
good happen to get into now because when we start
giving away tickets to Loghorn football games, this ball and

(03:45):
we will and we're the only ones who can do
it as the flagship station. I'm sure Mike Hardball Hard
and Mark Henry the World's Strongest Man, will do that
with the morning kickoff that you can hear their brand
new program nine am here on AM thirteen under the Zone,
and then our program obviously in the afternoons starting at
two o'clock. So we're going to give away football tickets

(04:10):
to long worn games this season, but in order to
win them, there'll be a contest. In the contest will
also include your participation on talkback, so you don't have
to do that. So it's an easy it's really easy
to do. It's just a good happen to get into.
But if you'd like to text the program, you're certainly
welcome to do that.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
We always welcome that.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
If you'd like to if you would like to text
in the program, please feel free to do it. Okay,
we were talking about the Cowboys and if you missed it,
go back you can on our podcast page. After the
show you can listen to camera Parker actually give Jerry

(04:51):
Jones credit for something he actually he actually gave some
credit and rightfully so with their drafting of development of
offensive lineman.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Correct, Yeah, in the first round.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
But having said that, yes, when they're not drafting offensive lineman,
it's it's a little bit dicey. Yeah, it's very dicey.
I'm looking looking at twenty ten Dez Bryant. They hit
on that, Tyron Spit twenty eleven, Mo clay Born in
twenty twelve, number six pick did not go so well.
Twenty thirteen, they get back to their offensive lineman and

(05:25):
draft Travis Frederick. Then, of course twenty fourteen Zach Martin.
Great picks, that's a great run in about five years.
Byron Jones in twenty fifteen, zeke In twenty sixteen, tockled
Charlton Ugh twenty seventeen didn't go well. You could argue
that Ezekiel Elliott pick wasn't the right pick. You could
say it was.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
No, I think it was. I think that was worthy
enough of the pick they did. I think they got
value from him. Yeah, Or they could have drafted Jayleen
Ramsey twenty eighteen. Layton Vanderesh, who you know had all
of his injury concerns, lasted a good bit, but you know,
his football career is pretty much over with twenty nineteen
didn't have a pick member. They traded that for Amari

(06:04):
Cooper who then plays with Cleveland Browns. But then the
last five years pretty good Ceedee Lamb in twenty twenty,
Micah Parsons twenty one, Tyler Smith in twenty twenty two,
Tyler Geydon this past year. The only one who's the
question mark is Mazzie Smith in twenty twenty three. Now
we'll see about that.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Of course, you know, drafting defensive linemen in the first round,
a lot of teams usually hesitate in doing that. They
think you can get better value with later rounds in
the pick and Mozzi had he didn't have a great
season this past year, wasn't super impactful, but from what
we heard in training camp, he's gotten high praise from

(06:42):
Mike Zimmer and McCarthy. He's gotten high praise from Micah Parsons.
So hopefully that's the guy that can turn it up
in the middle, because the Cowboys definitely will need him
after you know, losing a couple guys including Doris Armstrong.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
The reason why I brought the Cowboys back up, and
as has been pointed out on this program at Nauseam,
mainly from Cameron Parker. The Cowboys haven't won a Super
Bowl since the nineteen ninety five season, if you want
to know. By the way, the actual date was January
twenty eight, nineteen ninety six, is when it happened. Dak

(07:21):
Prescott was two and a half years old. Cam Parker
had not been born yet when that happened. Twenty three
months later. Okay, now that all is true and that
all has happened.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Sorry, by the way, it was WWE Monday Night Raw
last night, So it was not Christian Adel.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Oh okay, well there you go, all right, all right?
Was Mark Henry there last night? You'd think so, You
would think he probably would be there. It's a good question.
I think they probably.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Would be The reason why I bring all this back
about the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
He was. He was good.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Good for Mark Hennery. The reason why bring this back
up of the Cowboys. There's a group called Sportico.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Are you familiar with them?

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Sport to coo evaluates franchise value for pro sports teams.
And today today Sportico released what are called valuations, not evaluations,
just valuations. What the value is for the top ten

(08:40):
NFL teams.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Let's see eight. Okay, I'm going to give them to
you in.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Reverse order. Number ten, The Las Vegas Raiders are worth
six point seven billion dollars and they're just.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Ten, believe it or not.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
The Washington Commanders are the ninth most valuable franchise in
the NFL six point three billion, Philadelphia Eagles number eight
at six point seven five billion, Miami Dolphins seventh six
point seven six billion, New York Jets sixth six point.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Eight billion dollars.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
San Francisco forty nine ers number five on the list
six point eight six billion dollars. New England Patriots fourth
on the list seven point three to one billion. New
York Giants are third seven point sixty five billion. The
number two second highest valued franchise is the Los Angeles

(09:46):
Rams seven point seven nine billion, which brings us to
number one. And you probably knew they were going to
be number one, and yes they are. The Dallas Cowboys
are head and shoulders on top of the list of
the most valuable franchise and for that matter, valuable sports franchise,

(10:12):
with a list value of ten billion, three hundred and
twenty million dollars. They became the first sport franchise to
surpass the ten billion dollar valuation ten billion, three hundred

(10:32):
twenty million. It's interesting you think about when Jerry Jones
bought the Cowboys in nineteen eighty ninety, know how much you.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Paid for them? One hundred and forty million, one.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Hundred and forty million, less than half of the spare
change on that. Ten billion, ten billion, three hundred twenty
million dollars is what the Cowboys are valued at now.
When Jerry bought the franchise from bum Bright in February
of nineteen eighty nine, he did it for one hundred
and forty million dollars, and he talks about how he

(10:59):
had mortgage himself to the ends of the earth and
all that sort of stuff. Now it's more ten billion,
three hundred twenty million dollars, not only the top franchise
in the NFL, the top franchise in all of sport.
That's so that tells you something. Good investment, Yeah, good investment.

(11:22):
Forbes had him valued at nine billion earlier. But now,
in case you're wondering, the thirty two NFL franchises collectively
are worth one hundred and ninety billion dollars, including team
related businesses in real estate that's held by the owners
because that you know includes stadiums and land, things of

(11:46):
that nature. Ten billion, Your team, the one you're so
fed up with, the one that you're so frustrated with
the other with. Have to hand him credit for valuing
that franchise and building that value up to ten billion,
three hundred and twenty million dollars.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Fantastic business owner. Uh poor to you. When you look
at the article in Sportico, the first thing it says
in the slug the Dallas Cowboys have not been to
the NFC Championship game in twenty years, and the resume
includes thirteen losses in eighteen playoff games since that last

(12:24):
appearance in the Super Bowl. But hey, top ten billion dollars,
so we didn't care most about Jerry winning or money
and guessing it's the money, Well, most.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
People feel that it fills now.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Jerry is very quick, as we have pointed out, as
he has said. We aired his comments here on that
training camp openy print. He said, and you know I've
said this before. If I could write a check, if
I could write a check to get that Super Bowl trophy,
you know I'd do it in a minute. He wouldn't
write it. He wouldn't write it. For ten billion. But

(13:00):
if somebody told him ten million, yeah, he'd write it.
I would. I think he would because he would probably
figure that if he wrote a ten million dollar check
and which guaranteed them winning the Super Bowl and they did,
the franchise value would only go up.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
It would be an investment. This is the way to
put it, you know.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
By the way, I guess they Not only was Mark
Henry there, his son Jacob was there. They also announced
him at the effect and Mike cars was there as well.
He's texted us excellent, excellent, And you can listen to
Mark Henry every morning on the morning kickoff.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Mike Cards said more about that, Yeah, because he is
a WW superstar.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Have my ignorance. I'm not.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
I'm not into the wrestling. I'm gonna have to get
into it with Mark Henry on.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Our He's one of the all time greats, no doubt
about it. All right, coming up, we're gonna hear more
from Logrren's head football coach Steve Sarkeishan Well here from
Sark talking about his team as they go back to
the practice field later this afternoon. When we continue on
sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone and the ir
