Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon, everybody. Welcome to the program here on sports
Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone on a Friday afternoon.
My name is Craig Way. Glad to have you with us.
Alongside us, of course, includes the producer of the program,
Cameron D. Parker. The D on the birth certificate in
the middle name stands for Dallas, as in his favorite
pro football team for which he was bestowed the middle name,
(00:23):
but has refused to watch them because he gets really
upset when they don't do well, which means he's gotten
really upset a lot this season, so he hasn't been
watching them that much. I would have taken almost any
bet that said that Dallas would have a better record
(00:43):
than the team I root for, the Los Angeles Rams
this season. I would have taken almost any bet at
the start of the year. Alas that does not appear
to be the case. The Cowboys would have to win
out and the Rams would have to lose out now
for them to have have the exact same record. I
guess uh no that Cowboys could actually finish nine and
(01:05):
eight if they if they want out the Rams Ram six.
That was after the game last night, But you have
not been that confident in your team from day one,
and I think we're seeing evidence of it now.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
One. I have had faith in the Rams all year long.
To what just chestnut? What chestnut praline latte? That's that's
one of the holiday the chestnut praline latte. Uh yeah,
from Starbucks.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
It's it's It's a latte infused with the flavors of chestnut,
kind of a smoky fate flavor to it, and then
the praleen adds the sweetness to it. There. So yeahs
is good. Yeah, it's my standard during the holiday. Hope.
I go chestnut praline latte during the holiday. I really
do like it, so I I go with that. I
(01:57):
used to like the eggnog latte, but they stopped doing those.
I guess they were unpopular enough. Ignos one of those
things you either like it or you don't. From what
I understand now, I know some people who only like
it if you put some bourbon in it, or maybe
some Scotch in it. I like egg nog as is,
but people know my taste are difference. I like, I'm
(02:18):
a guy who likes both coke and PEPSI I like
them both because they're different flavors to me, and there's
a lot of people hate PEPSI like only coke or
I'm a pepsy or whatever. I like them both because
they offer different flavors. I've had a thing the gingerbread
latte before. It's okay, sorry, but I like I like
(02:39):
the chestnut preline latte because it's not quite as sweet
because of the chestnut infused in it, but it's still
got some sweetness in it on it. Meanwhile, I bring
you your your standard. I mean, you know your your regular.
What is it just to your your You want the
cold brew coffee, just straight up the cold brew with
(03:00):
what some classic Classico livery sound like the classics serve
because I think it's too sweet. I like vanilla syrup
when I get an ice coffee and just a vanilla,
but I have them remove the classic sereveral. We're hopeless Starbuckians.
I guess you might say Starbucksters. However you want to
say that, I don't know. But we've got other things
to get to on the program. First of all, as
(03:22):
we speak right now, the Texas volleyball team is fighting
for its NCAA tournament life. They're down twenty to seventeen
to Crayton in the fourth set, Creighton the number two seed,
Texas the number three seed. They're in that State College
Pennsylvania Regional, and right now Crayton, the higher seeded team,
(03:43):
is looking the part of the higher seeded team. They
look really good. They've won twenty four straight matches coming
in and they're up twenty to seventeen in that fourth set.
So if they go on and pick up five more
points and win that set, matches over in the long
one season would be over. If Texas does rally, they
would force a fifth, decisive fifth set, and the winner
(04:08):
that would take on the winner of the match that
follows between the number one seed, the host in that region,
penn State, and the number five seed Marquette. So that's
where it is right now. So we'll keep you updated
on that because Texas trying to stay alive in the
NCAA Volleyball Regional going on in the sweet sixteen the
regional semifinal Long Horns at twenty and six going in
(04:31):
Creighton thirty one and two, and so it's twenty to
seventeen Creighton. So we'll keep you posted on all of that.
But we've got other things. Obviously, there's football to discuss
from the Longhorn perspective and other college football perspective as well.
There is pro football as well as the college football.
(04:51):
There's the NBA, there's college basketball last night Longhorns with
the win last night, and we'll recap those things as
well well. So we'll do all of those things come up.
We do have inconceivable and when you what do inconceivable
and flesh eating bacteria have in common? I guess yeah, Florida. Yeah, yeah,
(05:17):
Florida Man, Florida Man. Yep, so we've got that gross.
It is Florida man. What kind of hell you have?
You watched a Florida Man TV show on HBO? I
think I saw it one time? Pretty good? Yeah, I
mean it's kind of play.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
I mean, is there is there at least a character
who has crocs in his baptub?
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Do we hit that? At least? I didn't see that
in the episode that I watched. I did. I did
not see that, So yeah, I don't know that that'll
be the I don't know that I'll be continuing to
watch that. But anyway, that's uh.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
When an ex conper terms to Florida to find a
mobster's runaway girlfriend, which should have been a quick gig
turns into a wild odyssey.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah. Yeah, it just sounds like another like drug infused
crime drama is what it was. But adding Florida Man
kind of adds some intrigue to it. I suppose that they,
you know, that they you know, think that that that
makes it more attractive, and maybe it does to the viewers.
I'm I'm not certain about that that that that's the case. Uh,
(06:23):
but we'll uh uh well, but we do have our
regular Florida Man entry, so we'll uh so we'll have
that coming up. The uh Texas women's basketball team goes
to Richmond, Virginia this weekend. They take on the Richmond
Spiders on Sunday afternoon. The long worn men, as I
mentioned last night, with a win over New Mexico State,
they have Arkansas Pine Bluff coming in and that'll be
(06:46):
on Sunday afternoon. That'll be game three of the three
the five game homestand so uh it'll be uh game
three of the five game home stand for Texas. I
have a couple more games coming up and that will
include after the holiday break as well. Because and we'll
(07:11):
hear Rodney Terry from the postgame conversation I have with
him last night, talking about the difficult time of year
that it is, you know for student athletes, because it's
it's really kind of yeah, it's interesting and strange. And
you know, I was talking with one of the video people,
(07:38):
one of the video students from Texas women's basketball team
at Grace. I was visiting with Grace, and she said
she had to start on a final last week when
the team was in South Bend, but that the finals
didn't really officially begin until this week and now they're
kind of headlong and buried in it. We heard Kyla
(07:59):
old Are saying she had one more final to go
to day. Uh, so there's there's different ones, uh, and
and so that's going on. So anyway, it's uh, it'll
it'll be interesting to see how it, you know, how
it transpires, how the how the student athletes deal with both.
But the ones that we visited with have said that
(08:23):
they're they're navigating it. Okay, I mean, did you did
the final exams give you a big problem.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
As a calm major? So you know, not really, I
mean you have final projects and stuff, you know, sometimes
you had you had you have bigger stuff like you know,
like make your own documentary and that you know, you
had a partner and sometimes maybe the partner that you
were assigned is in the best at getting their schoolwork done,
so it wasn't too bad.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I know.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
If you're Jordan Lee, you're Texas freshman from Stockton, California,
who had no finals, then you're having a pretty good
and semester right now. Yeah, but then you have some
students who you know, you don't You're busy, you're studying,
you know, you got study all all right, we've.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
