Speaker 1 (00:00):
We do want to go to some of this audio
because the last few weeks, obviously it's been Radio gold,
as Jerry Jones invariably is. Remember two weeks ago he
was really upset with his weekly radio co hosts Marjie
Chappy and Shawn Sheriff and was not happy with them

(00:23):
the things that they were saying, and he even made
off handed comments to other folks interviewing him that he
could replace fire his radio guys or whatever, and that
all that is. And when we said it, then I'll
just say it again. This is a contracted once week
appearance that Jerry does on his flagship station one O
five three the Fan. There's no quote unquote firing.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
He can't.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
He could choose not to do the interview the show.
He could choose to do that and if and if
by firing, that's what he means, okay, but he can't.
He doesn't have any claim on those guys who were
at that radio station. That's just a contracted interview. Things
seemed a little more patched up last week despite the loss,

(01:08):
so it was, you know, or coming out of the
buy and so it was a little more patched up.
So now they come off the loss to San Francisco,
lots of questions about Dak Prescott, lots of questions about
injuries and not having the right guys available. Also, Jerry's

(01:29):
family was involved in a car wreck on the way
to the game, right, something like that. Yeah, So these
were a lot of these questions were put to Jerry
this morning. This is again from one oh five three
to the fan in Dallas Fort Worth with RJ and
Sewn And the first thing they asked him was, how
about your thoughts on the loss of the forty nine ers?

(01:50):
What did you make of that game?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Well? I thought that we knew we were going out
there to play it really good team and we basically
I wish we could have eliminate the third quarter, and
you can't do that. But still there were parts of
that game that I really liked what we were doing

(02:17):
under the circumstances, and most of it first half. I
really liked the way that we came back near the
end of the ball game. We gave her a chance
as a good play to turp in there that if
we could have made that play, that makes a big difference.
But that's what you try to do in the NFL

(02:38):
is get in a spot where with three minutes left
to go and turn out situation where we had it,
you've got a chance to win the game. It gives
a good team on the road.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Yeah, So there's one way to describe it. And it
didn't happen in the third quarter. Had a lot to
do with it, fat Cowboys. In the third quarter, it
outscored sixty one to nineteen. So he was asked about that,
about what is about that third quarter in being outscored
in that period?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
You're sixty one or nineteen in the third quarters, that's
what you broke down, Yes, sir, in the third quarter. Yes, Well,
I think it's pretty easy to go. The facts are
that our communication in our offensive line we can improve on.
I like our players in the offensive line, but we

(03:29):
can improve on our communication. That's critical that's in there,
and that really played havoc with us there defensively. And
this really has to do with my kind of point
that I want to make this morning is that I
really do see that we've got the players and we

(03:53):
should have the players coming. Hopefully we'll get one or
two back here against Atlanta. But I have a lot
of faith in these players, and I have a lot
of faith in this coaching staff. And so the big
thing is that's what we've got, and that's reality. And
so these players have a chance to get better. Their

(04:19):
eras are up, knocked down, and I'm talking in general here.
Eras are up, and this coaching staff is I know firsthand.
I spent a lot of time around them. The coaching
staff's got their eye on the things that we need
to improve on. We need to improve on communication across
the board, and we can that comes better as the

(04:40):
season goes along. We'll get better with the communication. And frankly,
like all teams at this time, we'll have some players
coming back that have played critical roles for us. We
ought to get better. And we're seven games into this thing.
Seventeen games. Reason, let's get this thing turned around and

(05:03):
have a storybook ending to a rough start.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Okay, that's the story book end, storybook ending, as I
want you to hear this today. Let's have a storybook
end into this rough start. At three and four, the
hosts brought up the fact that Dak Prescott is not
running the running with the ball as much. Is that
a problem? Is he good with that? Would he just

(05:27):
assume not see Dak run that much. How did Jerry
feel about that?

Speaker 2 (05:31):
I think it's both you really don't want to see
him with You don't want to see him really take
off with that ball. These guys, these quarterbacks that run,
you know they're going to get injured, and that happens.
It happens to the youngest, happens to the best, It's

(05:53):
happened to that. And so to the end that as
we rely on him to stay healthy, that's an important
part of it. I wouldn't say it's up there, read
letters in the practice facility, don't run, But I would
say that we want him to be smart about it,

(06:14):
and he is being smart about it. However, he will
when he sees the opportunity, pull it down and run
with it. As we know. And the situation the other night,
you could say, well, when does making yards count any
more than that? It's easy to see, it's easy to compare,

(06:37):
and that's cricket. That's fair when the opposing quarterback you've
got is really complimenting what they're doing with their offense.
With his running, but I'm satisfied with in terms of
his ability to run, is there there's no question about
that as far as him physically he can run and

(07:00):
if we look back on it, you'll see times this year,
but we won't die in the future to do the
kind of job with his arm and get the ball
out to the get the ball out to the outside.
You see us trying to do that a lot and
make up for anything we might want to do risky.

(07:23):
I don't want to see him take those kinds of hits.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Did you hear him say that's cricket, that's fair, it's
classics area, you know. I think if we start doing
this every Tuesday, when you have a bingal list of
the word have a big go card of things like
fair and critical and smiling and trite, all of those,

(07:51):
all of those different ones hypothetical, he said, I'm not
going to hypothetical with you. You know that's wort. So
so there's there's different ones. Clearly, there's there's different ones
involved with that. And we'll hear some more from Jerry
coming up next hour, and some more in the four
o'clock hour as well. But it's it's always a pretty

(08:13):
entertaining piece of radio to hear him. It's almost like
you can hear the the gears turning as he's trying
to formulate the answer that he wants to give them.
And I'll give him credit for this. He does, in
his own inimitable fashion, try to find a way to

(08:37):
answer their question. I'm always reminded of this. There's some
athletes who just you know, you better ask the question
the right way or they're not going to answer it,
or they're going to give you maybe an answer you
don't want. Here here's the perfect example. Last night after

(08:57):
the Dodgers won, Walker Ruler, who pitched really well, you know,
five shutout innings and got the win, was in the
press conference. And Walker can be a little bit of
cerbic at times, depending on what you ask him and
how you asked the question. And someone asked him, was
it a different feeling for you? And is it a

(09:20):
different feeling with this team now in this World Series
as opposed to twenty twenty with the way that was,
And it's clear what the guy was leading with. He
was trying to say because it was the pandemic and
he had to play on a neutral side and there
was limited fans in the ballpark and all that stuff.
But Walker, Bueller's response was what's different about twenty twenty

(09:43):
or something like he wanted him to say it, and
the guy, to his credit, said, well, playing in a
neutral ballpark, and he oh, oh, yeah yeah. And then
he went on and he gave a pretty good answer.
But a lot of athletes they want you to ask
the question in a w that doesn't put them off.
I'm always thought, I'm always remembering what Reggie Jackson once

(10:06):
said to a report of ours when I worked in Dallas,
when he said, and he kept, he kept denying everything
the guy was trying to ask him. He said, you
need to do a better job of asking the question
that you want to answered in order for me to
give you the answer you want. Is it's Reggie Jackson.

(10:26):
Then he f bombed him and told him a couple
other ways in typical Reggie Jackson passion. But anyway, Jerry
and I give him credit for this. He does try
to find a way to answer the question, even though
he kind of sometimes goes around the garage to get
to the barn to find a way to answer it.
All Right, up next, we've got him conceivable here on
