Somebody said on the text one Journey supposed to be
in Dallas tonight with def Leopard and Steve Miller. So
they aren't showing up for that. I don't think so.
I'd just be def Leopard and Steve Miller. Uh, but
you're right. I do remember seeing that on a marquee
when I was in Dallas a couple of weeks ago
at Jerry World. I think I think the three of
(01:10):
them are all supposed to be a Jerry World. So
Cameron will give a check of at and T Stadium
there and just see if they do know, I mean
it's canceled. They the council there does it say it's canceled. Well,
I mean we had the deal showing that the European
leg had been canceled, and that was you know in
(01:31):
the UK, like in Wales and Ireland, the shows over there.
But I mean their website still, Liz says, Arlington still
says Houston for UH for Wednesday, San Antonio for Friday
in Minneapolis. So and it has def Leppard along with
(01:52):
Steve Miller band and UH and Journey.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
It has Journey in there with those other two acts.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
It takes me the ticketmaster which shows me the deaf
heard slash Journey, the Summer Stadium tour and Steve Miller Band.
So I mean the articles say that the UK and
the Ireland League have been canceled. Yeah, yeah, and it's
and it's not like it was like a month old sore.
They playing on stage together. No, no, they all three
(02:18):
different do different come in and do no No, like
the Journey band, the ones who were suing each other.
Well yeah, Neil Shawn and Jonathan Kane were founding members
of the band. Yeah, they were in it, along with
Jon Hammer and then obviously Steve Perry.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, wow, So how does that work?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
I mean obviously, I mean there's been bands where the
members don't get along, but you're on a tour together.
Like I mean, well, I can tell you a couple
of different oriented kind of examples of that sort of thing.
Uh yeah, real quick. This this is from CBS four
Indie dot Com. Okay, Journey summer Stadium tour in North
(03:04):
America with shows accompanied by def Leopard appears to have
been unaffected by the cancelations.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
So the Texture who is asking.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Okay, all systems go for Journey and Deaf Leopard in
the United States? Which is going to ask the million
dollar question or in their case multiple million dollar question?
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Are Jonathan Gaydan.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
And Neil Sean a part of Journey on stage tonight
at Jerry World If.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
You're going to that show, Texture, please let us know.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, if that happened. Here's here's why I bring that up.
As we know, there are various incarnations of bands carrying.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
The name that.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Happens to be well known. For example, Uh, if you're
into I don't know, I think you know this can
there's a there's a form of music. It's a it's
a dance shuffle type of music known on the Carolina
Coast as the shag and people do shag dancing. It's
(04:12):
kind of a shuffle type thing and and it incorporates
different different types of and and it started along the
Myrtle Beach areat shag dancing. Well, one of the bands
that used to do shag dancing stuff love was the Coasters.
The Coasters were a well known band that did the
(04:33):
Charlie Brown and a couple other songs and they they
had various members of the band break off and Breakaway,
so they're different bands and went.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
By that name.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
But there are those who have the licensing to the name,
even though they might not have all of the original
band members.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
There.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Perfect example of that is Electric Light Orchestra ELO. What
is coming to Moody Center in October is called Jeff
Lynn's el O. Jeff Lynn was the founder. Jeff Lynn
is the creative and musical and a genius behind Electric
Light Orchestra. Jeff Lynn himself the original and he's still there,
(05:20):
but a lot of the other parts are no longer
there and due to different legalities about what you can
just call it Electric Light Orchestra the ELO, even though
it's jeff Lynn's music. He goes by Jeff Lynn's elo.
I went to see Little River Band a couple of
years ago with my wife, and there were only two
(05:40):
original members of Little River Band, but they were original
members and they were there and played all the standards
and favorites.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Because remember, as.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Has been stated on many occasions on this program, that
we do have an appreciation and an infinity for yacht rock,
and Little River Band falls into that category. Same holds
true in some respects with Steely Dan because it's two
founding members Walterer Becker Becker and Donald Fagan. Walter Becker
is no longer with us, he passed away, but Donald
(06:10):
Fagan's still there and Steely Bann Steely Dan. To be fair,
the band was session musicians for so many years. They
they didn't tour for about thirty years after their original
tour in the early seventies, so it was a lot
of session musicians with Walter Becker Donald Fagan in the
studio and then after you know, and then they actually
(06:33):
toured again. Then Becker passed away and Fagan still tours.
They did that they were opening up for Eagles. Eagles
are even different now because you don't have Glenn Fry anymore.
He passed away, but his son Deacon joins in the vocals,
as does Vince Gilly. The two of them alternate singing
all of Glenn Fry's tunes like Peaceful, Easy Feeling and
Lion Eyes and Heartache Tonight, the ones that Glenn Fry
(06:59):
did and popularized so much with Eagles, separate from the
tunes that Don Henley wrote inside. So there's different incarnations
of it with regard to a band on how you
do that? So yeah, to the Texter, if you're going
to the show down, let us know, let us know
if they're all there. Even the Doobie Brothers. Remember the
(07:21):
Doobie Brothers had that big rift when Michael McDonald joined
the band, and then when he left and then it
split apart, its splintered and Michael McDonald became a solo
act and then they got back together. And I saw
him Lyndon and I saw him in late January at
Moody Center and they're still touring right now and.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Did a great job.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
But not all of the tour stops have Michael McDonald
on it because Michael McDonald to you back to your
original point, cam of whether there's a feuding between band
members who are currently playing on stage at all these
tour stops. You know, I wouldn't exactly say that Michael
(08:03):
McDonald and Tom Johnston or or Bosom buddies the best,
but they were playing together.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
And that's when I always thought.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Deobie Brothers were at their best when they had McDonald
in there and they were all playing. I know some
Doobie Brothers purists who don't even want to see him
if McDonald is playing, and I know some people who
don't want to see him if McDonald isn't playing with him.
So you know, that's that's how that is. And some
say the same thing about Queen without Freddie Murky, it's
a reincarn The Well Journey is a reincarnation without Steve Perry.
(08:35):
They found a vocalist who sounds exactly like him, but
it's a different guy. So bands change over time, it does,
age and health eventually catches up to all of us.
