Speaker 1 (00:04):
Back to the Craig was connect with Craig through the

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Continue on a Monday afternoon on the labor day. Hope
if you're having to labor on the labor day, I
hope it's going well for you.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
You know.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I don't know if it's completely accurate to say I
never really minded working that much on holidays. That's not
totally accurate, but I will say this, when compared to
other days, clearly it's usually not as difficult because it's holidays,
not as much traffic on the road, and it's kind

(00:51):
of laid back. There are literally no one, nobody, not
a body in this building other than Camera Parker myself,
so you know, makes it a little easier to cruise
through and do the things we need to do.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Also kind of shows like, man, if you're in corporate America,
there's so many like holidays and half days and days
off and remote days and all of that boom. Me
and Craig and a lot of other people here are
probably listening, are working their typical eight to five. They
don't get the corporate America Holiday or whatever. But if
you do good Anya. If not, we're here. They're trying

(01:26):
to help you. Course you through it.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Here on Longhorn Monday.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah, and you know, I think I mentioned this the
other day. I think the last time that I did
not work on Labor Day was either ninety five or
ninety six, before you were born. It was sometimes because
when I was at KRLD, we moved into the ballpark
in nineteen ninety four. You know, it might have been

(01:53):
ninety four because the baseball strike.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Was going on.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Had the Cowboys won their last Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yet it was the year after Okay, it was the
season after the ninety three season, so this was the
ninety four season. It was Barry Switzer's first year as
coach and when they went to the NFC Championship and
lost to San Francisco that year before they turned it
around the next year to win the NFC title. But yeah,

(02:20):
it was in ninety four. Was that when they lost
to the forty nine ers that they that might have
been the last time I didn't work on a Labor Day.
But anyway, this was the comment we wanted you to
hear from Sark. That was he was asked about the
outside noise, and again, you know, oddsmakers, being who they are,
have been busy at work, and they initially installed the

(02:42):
Long Ruins as a three and a half point road favorite.
Now it's like up to six or six and a half,
you know, And so you're gonna have a lot of
people playing on that up in Michigan this week, talking
about there a home underdog wins. The last time Michigan
was a home underdog maybe Ohio State, I guess something
like that. So that's just one component of it. Then

(03:03):
there's all the other enormity of what surrounds Texas versus
Michigan meeting for only the second time ever, in the
first time ever in a regular season, and so at
the news conference today heard earlier today live here on
Sports Medio AM thirteen under the Zone, Sark was asked
about that is it is it job one or a

(03:25):
critical job to get the guys to be able to
tune out and block out all of that outside stuff
and zero in on the task at hand.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
Three straight college football Playoffs national champs forty one and
three in their last forty four games, have won sixteen
games in a row. They've won twenty three straight at home,
so we're going to be in for a dogfight.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, that's it, pretty plain and simple. He just named
off what they've done, being in the playoff three years
in a row and getting over the top and winning
the national championship a year ago.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
He'd probably been reittering those numbers, those stats to the
team as well. Up like he just looked it up randomly,
He's probably been talking about that with his team at
least today Sunday and probably throughout the entire week.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Yep, yep, absolutely. I wanted to mention baseball. The Asterids
are up by six games in the American League west
On Seattle. Now, I did see the Rangers walk off
win yesterday, saw the walk off home run by Wyatt Langford.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
How many walk off wins does Texas have this year?
Because it feel like it's been a large number.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yeah, out of their total number of wins, a lot
of them are that. So all of that that was
really cool. But also there's you know, there's the interest
of how important it is that that the team. Well,

(04:57):
I'm sorry I got distracted at the moment. I was
looking at something here. So here we are to Pennant
Races in September and how important is it for teams
to keep teams at arm's length.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
And you know, the Astros have had this.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Great run in the second half of the season and
that's made a major difference in turning around their fortunes.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Remember they were down ten.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Games to Seattle ten games and then they've turned it
around and played great baseball since them by large, and
they just come off sweeping the Royals as well, and
that was a Royals team that was really, really hot.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
So there's that for the Astros to have to.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Try to keep Seattle at arms length. Try to keep
guys healthy. That's been the bugaboo going around major League Baseball.
Who can stay healthy, who's battling the injury bug, and
who's coming through it as well. So there's a lot
of important things going in to these pennet races because
we are now into September, and now that the teams

(06:07):
are in the September, you're looking at the amount of
guys that are on the injured list for their teams
going into these crucial series coming up. And there's big
division series and even there's still some big Internet excuse me,

(06:29):
interleague series that will be going on. I think the
Dodgers are playing the Guardians coming up, and then the
Asteroids another big interleague series coming up. There's several of
those like that in Major League Baseball, so that's going
to be a big, big part of it as well.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Seeing how teams.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
React and respond to ball clubs that they don't play
on a regular basis. Another thing notable thing about baseball
cam the Chicago White Sox loss game number one seven yesterday,
one seven four, and they're well, they're well positioned, you

(07:13):
might say, to break the all time record to absolutely
become the worst team in a one hundred and sixty
two game regular season schedule in Major League Baseball history,
maybe even the fewest wins all time. Pre won sixty two,

(07:34):
which was the Cleveland Spiders in eighteen ninety ninety one
thirty six and lost one hundred and seventeen, but that
was in a one hundred fifty four game schedule. They
played one fifty three and had one rainouts. The Mets
of sixty two in their expansion year were forty in
one twenty uh and that's the fewest amount of wins
and a one hundred and sixty two game schedule. They
had two inouts a year and the most losses in
one season one hundred and twenty. The Socks are at

(07:56):
one o seven right now, getting in September. You know this,
we had this conversation. Did we had this conversation back
in November, December, January about the Pistons.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah, how they were kind of they were flirting with
the Shawotte Bobcats.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Yeah, of twenty twelve.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Yeah, yeah, And and also what was it because the
Bobcats had what.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
The low the lowest win percentage in NBA history. Now,
remember twenty twelve was a lockout year, so they played
about sixty two games that year, I think, But they
have the worst ever winning percentage in NBA history and
they won twelve games that year.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yeah, well it's some like one twelve games. I when
they were like one sixty five the winning percentage or something.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Sorry, I'm sorry. They won seven games. Seven games. Twelve
games would have been a lot better for them. Let's
see if I can find their win percentage. But what's
seven divided by fifty nine? I'll tell you, yeah, it
was not good, men, that's not great.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Eleven okay, so one ten I guess that the win
percentage there and then the seventy six ers were nine
and seventy three, so they had the most.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Losses that year.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
So we were we were looking at those kind of
numbers back then about the Pistons. It didn't happen. The
Pistons accrued more victories and didn't they wind up was
like fifteen wins.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Well, they were like a two game win streak at
one point during the season.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
I mean it was three kind of Let's see.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Let me pull up there's stats from last I mean
they cleaned house for the most part. Let's see twenty
twenty three, they won seventeen game, sorry, fourteen games, fourteen
and sixty eight.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Okay, yeah, see, so they they definitely cleared the bar
on that. But the White Sox have a they have
a legitimate shot to have the fewest wins ever in
any full baseball season and the uh, the most losses
ever in any baseball season. It's gonna be entering thing

(10:00):
to see where it goes from there down the stretch.
