in this final hour of the program, and we get
ready in a few minutes. We're going to visit with
Roger Wallace, my broadcast partner in Long Wrren Football, and
of course Roger's sports director at k x A N.

between Anderson McCallum. Will actually be on the CW on
kV on fifty four because the Westlake prosper game will
be on KBVO. I believe that's the arrangement, but I'll
(00:46):
let Roger confirm that, and then we'll talk about some
other things. I've got some new programming Longhorn related. We
talked a little bit about it last week, and we'll
do some more about that as well.

if you're just getting into the car to drive out
at five o'clock. His long worn weekly with Coach sark

(01:20):
and we did so last night the season premiere. We
had a great time, great crowd out there. Alex okafort
was there with us. Is who he's going into the
UT Hall of Honor. Tremendous college career, was an All
American at Texas, played in the NFL obviously for nine
years was there, played with Kansas City at the end.
It has a Super Bowl ring and just a great
(01:41):
citizen the guys from Flugerville. When he was in college
at Texas, he gave back to his community by you know,
reading the kids at the elementary school where he came
out of and then when he was in the NFL,
he gave money back to the schools there. Comes back
home and what does he do. He runs for school
(02:01):
board and gets elected. He's on the Flugerville school Board.
That's the greatness of Alex Okafrey. He's on the program
with us. And again we record the show on Wednesdays
at Pluckers, the West Campus location at twenty two to
twenty two Reo grand So if you want to come
out for the show, come out on Wednesdays. We do
it from six to seven, but the show airs on
(02:22):
Thursdays here on the Zone, normally in the evening, but
with still Round Rock Express Baseball going on, It'll be
at five o'clock this afternoon, So five this afternoon. Immediately
following the conclusion of this program is Longhorn Weekly, the
season premiere with Coach Sark. Speaking of Sark, we'll hear
some more comments from his media's Thursday media availability he
(02:45):
did this morning, and we'll hear some more from him
on that coming up later this hour, as well as
some more from Rodney Terry, Longhorn's assistant excuse me, long
worn head men's basketball coach. So from Sark and from RT,
two head coaches of football and men's basketball, respectively. We'll
hear from them coming up a little bit later on
(03:05):
this hour. Did you just see the contract extension extension
for Steph Curry?
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I did? How about this?
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Now, before I throw these crazy, crazy monopoly money numbers
at you, remember who we're talking about here. We're talking
about I'm going to use the word arguably arguably the
greatest pure shooter in basketball, history, NBA history.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Is that Is that a fair argument to say?
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Yeah, I think Seph Curry is firmly the best shooter
all time.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
The way the way I do it.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Greatest player of all time, NJ Greatest career of all time,
Lebron James, greatest shooter of all time, Steph Curry, greatest score.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Kevin Durant, Okay, greatest big man.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
That's tough because it's it's between Bill Russell, Wilt and Duncan.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
No.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Kareem Yeahkareem yeah, kream up there too. I mean, that's
so tough because they're they're you know, yeah, well probably
the more talented, but just was more obsessed with off
the court stuff. And me, me, me, Bill Russell probably
the greatest teammate of all time right there with Tim
Duncan and then Kareem who twenty years he what won
(04:27):
four or five six rings something like that.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Cap the captain, the consummate pro. Yeah, no doubt about
all Right. So here's the deal with Steph Curry. Just
a one year extension, that's all. It keeps him under
contract with Golden State through the twenty twenty six twenty
twenty seven season. His agent, Jeff Austin of Octagon told
the ESPN's Adrian worj Enarowski today. The extension is one year.
(04:55):
The one year sixty two point six million dollars sixty
two million, six hundred thousand dollars one year. He had
two years left on his fourty year, two hundred and
fifteen million dollar contract he signed in August of twenty
twenty one.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
He did he was eligible to.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Sign only a one year extension this offseason due to
I love this. I've got a bone up on my NBA.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
I didn't know they had an over thirty eight rule.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah, I think it's it's kind of like Lebron James Royd.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yeah, I guess, but they call it the over thirty
eight rule. It prevents teams from offering contracts of four
years or more to players who are or will be
thirty eight years old during the deal, the over thirty eight.
Curry's thirty six says he wants to finish his career
(05:54):
as a Warrior. It's the only franchise he's ever played for.
Is and so, And of course he comes off of
that absolutely landmark.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Performance in the Olympics.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yeah, so, his market value probably has never been higher.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Nope. So I don't know that too many people have
much of a problem with that.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
I mean, yeah, the money is just crazy money, ridiculous money,
we know that. But you think about what some guys
who have achieved and accomplished far less than what he has,
and the tens of millions they're making.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
I really don't have a problem with that. I mean, and.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Again, I'm not a ticket buying person in San Francisco either,
so I'm not the one paying the ticket price.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
But I really don't see a problem with yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
And we'll see so, I mean, looking when that when
that kicks in in twenty twenty six, Draymond Green's contract
will be a player option, Wiggins will be a player option.
If we're guessing they're still going to be there.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I started to say, here's a It's not necessarily a
bold prediction, but it's a prediction I'm making in August
of twenty twenty four, or Draymond Green will not be
with the Warriors by the time we get the twenty
twenty six.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
It's not a hot take because you know, Warriors who
might be a playing team this year maybe you know,
I mean, they added Buddy Healed and Kyle Anderson and
the Anthony Melton. But besides that, you know, the roster
isn't all that great when you compare it to other
NBA teams, And I know they still have Steph Curry,
but over the course of a season, it's not the
(07:27):
same Golden State roster will see. So a very interesting
cap situation. It makes more sense for them to move
off of Wiggins, to move off of Draymond Green so
they can have more cap flexibility in twenty twenty six
outside of Curry. I mean, they only have three players
under contract, Curry for sixty two million and then Kyle
Anderson Buddy Healed for about ten million eats. Everyone else
is either player option, club option, or will be a
(07:49):
free agent. So more cap flexibility there, which is probably
why they went ahead and just did this move to
ensure Curry will be here. But yeah, fifty five for
Curry this season, fifty nine next year in sixty two.
He's making almost forty percent of their cap. This year
will be stephical amazing.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
All right, up next, we'll visit Roger Wallace talk about
some things to come in the k x An family
that are both long worn related and high school football related.
