Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cameron Parker filling in for Greig Way on this Friday
as we get ready for Texas and Clemson tomorrow. The
College Football Playoff, the first round, the first time in
this new format where we're gonna have on site games
begins tonight Indiana in Notre Dame at Notre Dame Stadium
in South Bend, Indiana. At tomorrow eleven am Penn State

(00:22):
and SMU at State College, Texas Clemson at three, and
then Ohio State and Tennessee in Columbus at seven o'clock tomorrow.
I'm fired up for college game. They are already live right now.
Shane Gillis is the guest picker. It's gonna be a blast,
and our coverage begins tomorrow at noon Longhorns Game Day.
Cameron Parker, myself along with Mike Hardball, Harje and the

(00:45):
world's Strongest man, Mark Henry, gonna have special guests, insiders,
hargest keys to the game, Mark Henry's hype train, some
special players, some special reporters coming up, and we're gonna
course go to visit with Greg Way and Roger Wallas
from the booth at d The last time will be
at DKR, but hopefully not the last time Texas plays
a college football game this season, of course, possibly four

(01:08):
more games remaining if Texas can go all the way
and capture a national championship. Someone who may have played
his last college football game, Carson Beck now being confirmed. Yes,
being reported yesterday last night, but now Matt Sennett's confirming
that Georgia is expecting Carson Beck to miss the remainder

(01:28):
of the year and is expecting to move forward Gunner
Stockton as it's starting quarterbacks. Stockton, of course came in
for Beck against Texas and did enough, did enough to
give Georgia a victory, of course, I mean mostly just
handed the ball off to Trevor Ettien, who just gassed
Texas defensively gashed them rather en route to an SEC

(01:50):
championship victory in overtime over the Longhorns. Carson Beck did
come in on that last play for the handoff the
dagger that gave Georgia the number two seed in the
playoff Texas just number five. But I think looking at
Texas path, we're okay with it.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Now.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
George's path is interesting. They'll play the winner of Indiana
Notre Dame with Gunnar Stockton. I think Indiana can pull
an off an upset tonight, we'll see. Then they would
face the winner at Boise State in the winner SMU
Penn State. I think most people like Penn State to
come out of that side. Not too bad of a
match up there. I think you can get by both
those teams without Carson Beck. Butther than Addie will be interesting.

(02:29):
Will it be Oregon, it will be Texas somebody else.
You would think Texas would be dying to face Georgia
a third time, especially with Gunnar Stockton, and you give
pk in Sark a week more to prepare for a
backup quarterback when they were preparing for Carson Beck. I
would give the advantage to Texas, but also I felt

(02:50):
the same way before the first game in the second game,
but hey, maybe third time to charm If it's Oregon,
I just don't see how Georgia can score enough points
to keep up with the pace of Oregon's offense. Ohio
State would be interesting. I've gone back and forth with
who I like in this game tomorrow night. I think
Tennessee's offensive line is good enough to disrupt things, but

(03:13):
depending on Ohio States play calling. For some reason, it's Michigan.
They wanted to try and be the big bad boys
up front. They got demolished by Michigan's d line on
offensive line. Hey, you guys have a bunch of weapons.
You have Jeremiah Smith, maybe the best receiver in college football.
Get him the football chip. Killing Ryan da It's not
that hard, it's not that difficult. You don't have to
be a power rushing attack. If we see that from

(03:35):
Ohio State, I think they can score enough points to Outlastnessee.
I'm not sure about Tennessee's offense. It's been troubling at times.
Get points on the board. I'll see that being a
very close game. I think it'll be Oregon Texas in
semi finals, and I think either one of those teams
can beat a Gunner Stockton led Georgia team in the

(03:56):
National Championship. But of course Texas has to get through
through Clemson first, and that is tomorrow at three o'clock.
Steve sarkisian the media one last time on Thursday last
night to preview this game, and I think sark is
pretty fired up just as you are for Texas and Clemson.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Exciting time for college football, you know, inaugural weekend of
the twelve team college Football Playoff, and to be part
of that, I think is exactly where the University of
Texas is supposed to be. You know, when you talked
about some of the great teams that are in this
playoff and great programs historically, but also some of the
great stories of some other teams that are involved in it,

(04:37):
the fact that that we're one of the teams and
we're getting talked about that way, I know it's exciting
for our players and our staff. I know it's obviously
very exciting for Longhorn Nation. Should be a great environment,
should be a great game at dk R Saturday. You know,
it's one of the values of earning a home field
is getting that home field advantage, and we're gonna need
long hornation like they've been all year, for supporting us,

(05:00):
creating a great amount of energy, creating an intimidating environment,
and then you know, ultimately thats going out and playing
a good football team, football game, I guess a really
good opponent. You know, as I've said earlier in the week,
ton of respect for Davo. The more I continue to
watch his team, you know, the very attack driven operation,

(05:21):
especially on the defensive front, they create explosive plays on
the offensive side of the ball. You know, club Lick
is deadly when he extend, extends the plays, and so
we got to work cut out for us, and it
should be a heck of a battle Saturday.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
It will be a sellout tomorrow. Not surprising. It's been
a sell all season long for Texas, especially against Clemson.
Then know it about explosive plays. Mention this on Wednesday show,
and I'll mention it today, I'll mention it tomorrow. Clumps
in offense eleventh in the country in plays of twenty
yards or more, sixth in the country in plays of

(05:55):
thirty yards or more. Now Texas defensively in plays of
twenty or thirty yards more allowed, they're first in the country.
So something's got to give. There will be the Texas
defense lmny Clemson, or will be Clemson able to create
big plays because for Clemson to pall off an upset
here to marrow, folks, it's it's two things. One Texas
turns the ball over multiple times, into Clemson able to

(06:17):
create maybe one or two big plays to withstand Texas. Now,
of course, college football playoff, you're going to have the
college football playoff branding Clemton in town? Is this week
a little bit different in terms of Texas and their preparation?

Speaker 2 (06:34):
From my understanding, I think from our perspective, this is
a home game for us, you know, from a timing standpoint,
the way we've gone throughout the week, the way we'll
do pregame warm ups, the way we'll take the field,
the sideline we're on, the uniforms we're wearing, you know,
to us, it's a home game. I'm sure there's probably
a couple other little things from a production standpoint that'll

(06:57):
feel a little more. I guess NCAA driven and maybe
not as much, you know, just ut driven. But I
don't in particulars. I don't really know, because everything that
has come across my plate has been, you know, business
as usual for us.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Of course, Texas played in the playoff this last season.
It's Washington, but obviously a lot longer layoff from the
Big Twelve to the Sugar Bowl that was Texas Washington.
I think was it about two three weeks in between
the Big twelve Toudle game versus the playoff game? Of course,
only two weeks in between Texas Georgia and Texas Clemson.

(07:32):
So did Sark and his staff tweak anything differently coming
back to the playoff in year two?

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Well, a little different format right this year. Last year
we had a really long layoff. It'd be like having
the buy that we that we didn't get to have
this year. So we had to tweak it some, you know,
having played in the SEC championship game and then you
turn around and you play again two weeks later. It
was a pseudo bye week. I guess we took it
as but that's probably the really only thing we adjusted

(08:01):
was last week. As we got into this week, it's
been a normal work week for US.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Business as usual for Texas, who have only lost one
home game this year that came to Georgia, but number
twelve Clemson in the building tomorrow, We're gonna hear more
from Sark, including health updates on Isaiah Bond, Kelvin Banks,
and his thoughts on this Clemson defense, Phil MafA, Kate Klebnik,
all of that. As we continue here on the Creigway Show.

(08:28):
Eric Henry four o'clock Gower will stop by and join
us get his thoughts on this game. I'm gonna hear
more from Sark, gonna hear, probably from Vic Schaeffer, but
up next step away from the world of college football
and into the world of golf with Jeff Schokrafer here
on The Creigway Show.
