(00:03):
He's a Texas legend, a Hallof Fame broadcaster, the voice of the
Texas Longhorns, and your host ofThe Craigway Show. Here he is now
Craig Way, but glad to haveyou with us here the Craigway Show July

(00:30):
first into July, which means weare getting closer and closer to college football
coming back. And got a greattaste of it yesterday during the SEC celebration.
All the fun talk as we getcloser and closer to that kickoff against
Colorado State and closer to that firstSEC game against Colorado State. But first,

(00:52):
I am Cameron Parker filling in forCraigway, who, yes, still
is on his sabbatical. I know, I know, don't worry. He'll
be back next Monday, July eighth, Craig. We'll be back in just
a week. So we hope heis enjoying his time off. It is
much deserved for the hardest working manin show business. But I will be
with you for this week now.It is a shortened week because it is
a holiday week July fourth on Thursday, so no local programming here on the

(01:17):
Zone on Thursday and Friday. Somyself and Andrew Simma will be with you
today, tomorrow and Wednesday. Andspeaking of Andrew Simmoll, of course glad
to have Andrew back on the showwith us now. Has things calmed down
just a little bit for you, because I know Mike Cards is back in
town. I know Mike is backin tow, which means I'm not in

(01:38):
Austin anymore for you, Cam,But yeah, a little bit. I
guess I'm still doing the morning showin San Antonio. I'm hanging out with
you. It's calmed down a littlebit now. You decided to stay in
the air conditioning and not come outto the SEC celebration yesterday, That's correct,
I did. But you guys lookreally cool. I watch you guys
on Facebook. You look good onfaith this book. I woke up this

(02:01):
morning feeling a different Cam. Ifeel good to be in the SEC.
I don't know about you, Ohfor sure. It was fun getting out
there and getting the talk. Wehad a great number of guests joining us,
with Crystal Conti of course, theTexas ad and we'll play some of
his sound from yesterday. John Bianco, the Texas sports information director who handles

(02:23):
all Texas football, talk to himabout about what it's like to be in
the SEC. And of course wehad Drew Martin, Charles Branch, a
handful of other employees who had beenplanning that celebration for fourteen months. And
it was Drew Martin who talked toCDC and said, Hey, we need
to plan something big. They justcan't be like, hey, let's pop

(02:44):
a bottle champagne at midnight. Let'sdo something big, and Texas went all
out. I mean, Arge andI talked about it yesterday on the show.
It felt like game day out there, Andrew. I don't know if
you can see the crowds through ourlive stream, but it was packed.
It was not easy to walk around, and people were out there when the
gates opened at one pm and theywere dealing through that near one hundred degree

(03:05):
heat to be out there to enjoythe celebration, to enjoy the live show,
and ultimately to enjoy Pitbull. Yeah, I was gonna say a lot
of people came out to see you, A lot of people came out to
see the SEC Commissioner. I thinkthey both dwarf in comparison to the amount
of people that came out to seepit Bull Man, because I did not
know that Pitpull had that tape ofdraw. Maybe was the free concert aspect

(03:28):
of it. But did anybody confuseyou for Pitbull? No? No,
fortunately not no one thought I wasmister three zh five. But there there
was a huge, huge crowd forPitbull last night. Who who was the
main event? There's people in thecrowd. We had Joke Cook from Inside
Taxes come on and he was like, yeah, I overheard people talking about
how excited they were for Pitple thatactually people came out not for the celebration

(03:52):
alone, came out to zee themister three oh five dolly himself Pitbull.
I was talking all week can whenI was in Austin to my friends and
you know, most of them aresports fans, with some of them Mart,
and they were coming to me beinglike, what's up with this SEC
celebration thing and what's up with Pitbull? I heard Pipple's going to be in
town, and look, whatever itgets to get people out there and get

(04:13):
excited, I'm all for. Personally, I think you and I are more
excited for the SEC than we arewere for Pitbull. But you know what,
if it gets people into the burnorange, it gets people to be
all in on Texas. I'm okaywith it. I'm fine with it.
Youto did a phenomenal job yesterday planningthat event. Of course, Oklahoma's having
their celebration right now. The SECNetwork also out there lives they were yesterday

(04:35):
as well, and we'll play somesounds. Steeve Sarkjian went on the set
with Ora Rutledge, Roman harp Or, Paul Feinbaum and Jordan Rodgers. He
had some good quotes as well, and he also went on the ESPN's show
with Greg mlcroy last week. Havesome sound that Andrew cut up for that
as well that we'll get to throughoutthe show. As Texas no more talking
about it. They are officially membersof the SEC and the preparations, you

(05:00):
know, have gone back for afew years, but this year we will
finally find out if Texas is SECready, and Steve Sarkisian believes the Texas
football team is as well. Weknow baseball is doing everything in its power
to get ready after hiring Jim Schlaschnegelelast week. Slashnegele and Chris Delconte went
on the SEC Network broadcast yesterday andSlash has added some some big names out

(05:26):
of the portal as well as gottensome big commitments out of high school and
has made some additions to his staff, including returning Troy Tolwiski, of course,
to the former MLB All Star shortstopwho has been on the Texas staff
the last few years. First itlooked like he was not going to return.
In fact, there was an announcementthat he was not, but A

(05:47):
and M wentenhead and hired Michael Earlyto replace Slashnegeles. So a spot opened
up on Slash's staff and Troy Tolwiskiis backed. A lot of Texas fans
I know are very excited to haveTulo to remain in Austin. He really
wanted to stay on the forty Acresas well. We'll talk about that throughout
the Today's program. Happy to haveyou with us, and of course we

(06:09):
want to hear from you on today'sshow. If you were out there at
the celebration, tell us all aboutit. Text us at eight one to
five three zero texta where text isfollowed by your message, and of course
you can leave a talk back messageon the free iHeartRadio app. Just hold
down that red microphone button. Wewant to hear from you here on today's

(06:31):
show. Also, NBA free agencyunderway in some big movement has already begun
shaking up the league. In fact, just before we came on the air,
Klay Thompson, a member of theSlash Bros. With Steph Curry,
a course part of four championship teamswith the Golden State Warriors, is no

(06:53):
longer a Golden State where he isnow a Dallas Maverick joining the MAVs with
Luka Donca in Kyrie are in signinga three year contract. We'll get the
details with that. As the Mavericksmaking some moves as they want to return
to the NBA Finals and maybe getover the hump. What have they done?
We'll talk about that. Also theSan Antonio with Spurs Zimmel making a

(07:15):
big move adding finally a point guardand a point guard that I think a
lot of people have wanted to atleast at some point during his career play
for Popovich and finally we get it. Although he is nearing the age of
forty. And that's Chris Paul.Yeah, back when he graduated, but
I didn't say graduate, came outof West wake Forest. I think most
of us were like, hey,he's gonna play for the Spurs at some

(07:36):
point, right, I didn't thinkit was gonna be a age thirty nine
cam, But you know what,I'm not against it. I love Chris
Paul the point god on a veryfriendly contract as well. We'll talk about
that. I know some Spurs fansaren't super thrilled. I think it's a
great fit. But we'll talk aboutthat and all the other NBA free agency
moves as well as the Craig WaysShow under way. If you're on this

(08:00):
Monday, of course we do haveinconceivable for you later on in this first
hour. But up next we're goingto hear from Chris del Conte as he
was able to sit down and visitwith myself in my cards during yesterday's SEC
celebration. Everybody very excited about what'snext for Texas Athletics, not just football,
but all of it. We'll hearfrom CDC himself here as Monday show

(08:24):
