Of rye for Texas volleyball this afternoon as they fell
in four sets to Creighton in the regional semifinal in
the Sweet sixteen there in State College, Pennsylvania. This was
the comments of long wrn's head coach Jared Elliott after
the match.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Well, congratulations of Creighton. Uh, they played extremely well. I
thought they put a lot of pressure on us from
the serving past game and uh, you know, they were
doing a great job defensively scrambling and putting up a
good block in front of us, and we were battling
all night long. I'm super proud of my team in
terms of the way they competed. Obviously it's not the
result that we want, but I'm okay sometimes losing the

when our kids give me everything they have, and they
did that throughout the entire season.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Questions place, I don't know. Just taking care of our
first contact, having confidence and everything that we did and
(05:31):
just battling back and trusting one another I think was
the game changer. But yeah, I mean in crunch time
it's just do or die, and so we felt that
pressure but took u to our advantage.

That was Madison's skinner there as a follow up to
Jared Elliott's opening statement, and of course Madison talking about
the first set that Creaton took it and kind of
set the tone for the match, and Texas not able
to completely rally back and win that one. So the
Long Orange Fall. The season ends at twenty wins, and

seven losses. Yes, nineteen consecutive trips to the Sweet sixteen,
but disappointment today and losing to the number two seed.
Texas was the three seed and they lost to the
number two seed there and creating and all probability will
play the one seed Penn State and the host there
in State College. Penn State has taken the first two

sets and they're up thirteen to twelve in the third set,
so probably.

Going to win that match to move on from there.

And like we said, disappointing there for Texas, but another
standout season for coach Elliott's group. The Texas women's basketball
team is on the road. They leave tomorrow for Richmond
and they'll play Richmond on Sunday. Did you see well,

I were together last night with the men's game.

You see the highlights of that Notre Dame Yukon game.

But you know that's a good matchup.

Well, Notre Dame in Yukon, they were very tight, and
then Notre Dame. I think Hannah Hidalgo hit a three
right before the end of the third quarter and then
Notre Dame just pulled away down the strategy one by eleven,
So I mean it was more, if you want to say,
whatever dominated or controlled by noted. Then the Notre Dame

Texas game that went overtime and went down to the
final seconds of regulation and then ended up going overtime.
But as it stood, it turned out that.

That Notre Dame pulled away and they won. So Notre
Dames had an interesting season.

They started off really red hot, beat number one South Carolina,
went down to the Cayman Islands, lost two games, lost
to TCU, and then lost another games, went unranked.

Team fell from third to tenth Utah. It was Utah.

Then after falling to ten, coming back home where they
beat Texas, and then they turn around and beat the
number two team and that was Yukon. And I think
they said they became the first team since the advent

of Poles ranking women's college basketball. They became the first
team to defeat three top five ranked schools in one
month in the month of December, since the first time
it's happened, So they've kind of they've beaten number one,

number what was Texas at the time, four, and number two.
They've beaten the number one, the number four, and the
number two team in the country. They're a good team. Yeah,
they're going to rise up the rankings, Craig. You know,
they went up from ten to eight after beating tex
right a lot. I think they moved up two spots
from ten to eight after beating Texas. Texas fell from

four to six after losing the Notre Dame, but stayed
ahead of them in the rankings. And then they turn
around and beat an unbeaten and number two ranked Ukon team.
So go figure rankings right anyway? All right, So that's
that's what's going on. Women's collegs basketball Longhorns will be
in action on Sunday afternoon in Richmond to take on

the Richmond Spiders.
