Speaker 1 (00:03):
We're back. It's the Craig Way Show with Hall of
Fame broadcaster and voice of the Texas Longhards Craig Way.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
The final ever baseball game going on in Oakland, California,
Major League Baseball game at the Oakland Coliseum. The A's
lead the Rangers to Kumar Rockers, pitching for Texas this afternoon.
Do you see the jersey number he's wearing since you've
been with the Rangers, I have just can't call it
the top of my head. Eighty. I knew it was

(00:45):
eighty eighty eight to oh eighty he's wearing. I like that. Yeah.
So the A's are up to nothing as a bat
with two outs in the bottom half of the fourth inning.
They're at the Oakland Coliseum. Another interesting footing, what's going
on with White Sox. Now, last week we had you know,

(01:06):
Geene Watson on the program. He'll be on with us
again tomorrow. Jeene joins us every week during baseball and
we're gonna shift to midweek next week, what with the
playoffs starting. And I asked him about this White Sox team,
which at the time had lost one hundred and nineteen games.
They were thirty six and one nineteen, and I asked
him if he still saw, since he's around the ball

(01:29):
club and the clubhouse and things like that and games
and stuff when he isn't traveling for other things, if
he still saw that desire for them to win was
the weight of possibly losing the most games in Major
League Baseball history, which seemed to be an impending reality.

(01:50):
It was it weighing on them, and he just said,
the guys are showing up and they're going to work, and
it's been impressive to see that they've continued to work hard. Okay,
since since that conversation happened, the White Sox did lose
game number one twenty, which tied them with the nineteen

(02:11):
sixty two New York Mets for the most losses in
Major League history. The sixty two Mets went forty to
one twenty and had two rainouts, so that is the
all time record for most losses in the season. So
they were thirty six and one twenty. Since that time,

(02:32):
the White Sox have won two in a row and
they're up seven to nothing on the Angels right now
on the top of the ninth. They're on the verge
winning again. That would get them the thirty nine and
one twenty. So they have a chance if they went
out that they are playing a Tigers team this weekend
that's right now, would be in the playoffs if it

(02:53):
started today. That's that's uh sitting in wild card position
right now. They are playing them this weekend. But if
they but if they went out, they would actually have
a better record than that sixty two Mets team. Yes,
they would have one hundred and twenty loss, it's the
same amount, but they would also have forty two wins.
They would have more wins for what that's worth. Last night,
John Shriffin is in his first season of being the

(03:14):
White Sox television play by play guy because who's our
friend works with Fox. He did the White Sox for
a while. Now he's doing the Tigers.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Jason Bennetti, Jason Bennetti, Jason Bennetti left to go to
do the Tigers this year. And his mat Yeah really
his mat him good move for Michael Kopek. Their closer
is the closer for the Dodgers. Now got to save
last night and so win. The White Sox won last
night and they won by one run. I think it

(03:49):
was four to three to prevent loss number one, twenty one.
John Shriffin shouts, take that his three so he might
get to say it again. In fact, has it gone final?
It's gone final. So the White Sox win over the
Angels seven to nothing. They're now thirty nine and one twenty,

(04:11):
so all they have to do is sweep the Tigers
and they could go, you know, forty two and one
twenty and not have the worst record of all time
in baseball history. So we'll see how that ultimately plays out.
The do you have about the weird deal with the
with the Mets and the Braves? No, I did not. Okay,
So the Mets and Braves played and it was a big, big,

(04:34):
big series for both of them, trying to get into
the wild card Atlanta really entire straits needing to almost
virtually went out, but definitely when so they started off.
The Braves got the win in the first game. They
were supposed to play yesterday and they were supposed to
play today. Major League Baseball said they're gonna be able
to do it. Too much rain and stuff and things

(04:56):
coming in also possibly from that hurricane. So Major League
Baseball went ahead and as they say in the business,
banged the other two games or boxed them. They called
them off. And for those of you who said, well
wait a minute, now, what the Braves and the Mets
and the Diamondbacks are all, you know, bunched up in

(05:18):
the battle for the second and third wildcard spot. Padres
have clinched at least that the first one. So what happens?
And Major League Baseball said, for the time being, for
the time being, nothing to see here. We are not
going to worry about those games unless we have to
worry about those games. In other words, if they don't

(05:40):
impact the Mets, the Braves or the Diamondbacks, those games
will not be played. I don't know how on Earth
they couldn't, because it's two teams involved with that had
to had, Mets and Braves. And they said, if they
do have to play those games, if they do impact,
we're going to play a double header on Monday. Can
you imagine playing the doubleheader on Monday and you win

(06:01):
one or both games, whatever you get in the wildcard,
then you got to go immediately the game site. I
don't think it's played the next day, Tuesday. I think
they would probably play Wednesday. But still, that's how crazy
it is. Of course, we live in an era now
where we don't have game number one sixty three anymore.
When they expanded the playoffs, they dump the playoff to
win a division title winner gets the division loser gets
a wildcard. That ipp with the Dodgers or Rockies a

(06:23):
few years ago. They got rid of that by just
going on winning percentage. But this is different with the wildcard.
So we'll see how that ultimately pans out there, whether
or not that's going to happen, whether they would have
to play one or both of those games. And you
know what would be really weird camp is if they say, yeah,
we got to play these Mets Braves games. It's a doubleheader,

(06:47):
and if it's if one team, whichever it is, wins,
we don't have to play the second game. But if
the other team wins, we do have to play. We'll
be really weird. If the one team won and then
you didn't have to play second, all right, we're done, everybody,
go home, winning team get on a plane. Could happen.
That's how crazy this baseball season has been tied. Now

(07:11):
for our DJC Law Injury Update, we bring you the
DJC Law Injury Update each week with regard to Loghorn football,
because this is the first year that you have the
mandated injury report as mandated by the Southeastern Conference. So

(07:38):
here's the Texas injury report. Four guys are questionable, Trey Wisner.
That's a count. Many running backs are listed in this report,
Trey Wisner. They need both hands. Yeah, really save t
Joelanie McDonald quarterback when yours and wide receiver DeAndre Moore.
They're all questionable. Doubtful running back Colin Page the walk on,

(08:00):
and safety Derek Williams. And three guys are out. All
three are running backs now CJ. Baxter and Christian Clark.
We knew that happened in training camp. But Velton Gardner,
the SMU transfer, also out. So that's your CJ, your
DJC law injury update. And CJ. Baxter we knew was

(08:20):
going to be on that report, and Christian Clark would
be on that report. But the other guys, you know,
like I said, Trey Wisner's questionable. And Sark was asked,
you heard it earlier just a little while ago. You
know what's gonna be the deal with Queen yours? He said, well,
no more tomorrow as to whether he might be able
to play on Saturday. Same thing with DeAndre Moore. It

(08:42):
was a heck of a catch, but it was a
heck of a hip pointer that he took too, So
we'll see how that ultimately go. Joelina McDonald making progress.
They hope to have him ready, but he's still listed
as questionable. Derek Williams is doubtful, Colin Page doubtful, and
then as I mentioned, in addition to Baxter and Clark,
Velton Gardner is out. So there it is. That's your deed.
J C Low injury update, and on Saturday, during Long

(09:06):
Orange Game Day, Cameron Parker will update that DJ Claw
injury update. You do that during the during the pregame, correct.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
We do, and it's always fun when we get updates
through players Instagram accounts, like Jayden Blue updating us letting
us know he was going to be active in the
game last week. But of course the SEC injury report
does help. But man, we'll see about quin you Weres
and arch Manning and listen. Looking at Mississippi State's injury report, Correig,
they're going to be without QB one Blake shampin their

(09:37):
running back one. Cavon Lee who is out, Creed Whitmore
who is a backup receiver, but then Trent Hudson is
their starting receiver in the Z spot. He's out, and
then Tyler Wood are to backup safety's out. So the
Bulldog's going through it as well. Yeah, yeah, it is.
It is happened, all right. When we come back, I'm
gonna this story.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
I was starting to tell you, I'm gonna I'm going
to tell you about uh there regard to a certain
quarterback and leaving one team for another. When we continue
