Speaker 1 (00:00):
Off to a great stir off and running on a
Hoday Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Right, did that feedback thing go over the year?

Speaker 3 (00:05):
I probably apologize to all of those listening. Hey, we recover, right,
we move on. Good afternoon, everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome to a Wednesday edition of the program here on
Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
My name is Craig Way. Glad to have you with us,
Glad to have the producer, Cameron D. Parker alongside.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
The D does not sound does not stand for demented audio.
It stands for Dallas on his birth certificate there in
honor of his favorite football team that's driving him to distraction.
The D is for distraction, so he is not watching
them live on television these days. But there's Cowboys stuff

(00:50):
to talk about today, there's other NFL. There's a bizarre
college football story to get to, and then, of course
obviously there's long One and stuff we will hear from
Long Horn's head coach Steve Sarkisian from the SEC teleconference
that's coming up in a few minutes. Oh well, it's
coming up a little later. I'll tell you who's coming

(01:11):
up in a few minutes is a former employee of
this radio station. And a former employee of the Longhorn
Radio Network and a former Texas long run standout linebacker
Brian Jones, the lifetime long WRN who now of course

(01:32):
is in the employee of the Columbia Broadcasting System. He
works for CBS and their college football coverage.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
And Bjail join us.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
We'll talk about this Texas team and what he's seeing
on the national scene of college football.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
So we'll look forward to that.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
We do have inconceivable a little bit later on this hour,
Like I said, we're going to hear quite a bit
from coach Sark from the SEC teleconference today. We'll talk
about the baseball penner race. Did you see what happened
cam at the end of the game in Los Angeles
last night?

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I did not. Unbelievable. You'll have to uh tell me
about it. Un believable.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
The Dodgers are playing the Padres and San Diego three
games back, and they were looking good, and they were
setting up for the win, and they're up four to
one going to the bottom of the ninth inning, and
the Dodgers did not look good offensively, and Land and
Knack gave up four runs early, and then the bullpen
did a good job over the final five innings for LA,

(02:37):
but they didn't they they wasted some early opportunities and
then they were just kind of getting shut down. So
they get to the bottom of the night, they get
a lead off base hit, then they get another hit,
then they get a third hit I think from Key
k Hernandez it scored a run. So now they're runners
on the corners or no, the runners it first and second.

(03:01):
It's important. There were runners at first and second. There's
nobody out. Uh, Miguel Rojas is at the plate. On
deck is Shoho Tani, who has already doubled and scored
the one Dodger run early in the ballgame. So they're
now down only four to two and there's nobody out.
I thought, are they going to do this again? Are
they going to come back and win another game like this?

(03:23):
And about that time, Rojas, it's a screaming liner, a
bouncer one hopper to third Manny Machado fields it so
quickly steps on the bag at third, froze to second,
froze to first, triple play.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Game over. Just like that.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
It was a bang, bang, bang, five to four to
three triple play to end the game. So naturally, the
Padres are going crazy and everything that they clinched a
playoff spot with that, and they pulled within two games.
Now the Dodgers in the National League West, and they
kind of have the pitching matchup set up better for

(04:00):
them tonight and tomorrow. So they got Dylan Sees tonight
and then they got Joe Muskrove tomorrow. The Dodgers do
have Jack Clarity tonight, but tomorrow there Walker Bueller, who
still hasn't come all the way back, you know. I mean,
if the Patricks went all three of these games, they
hold the tie break, they would be even going into
the final week ind of the regular season.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
So crazy stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And there's other stuff going on with the other wildcard
races and division races, so we'll get to all of
that as well. We'll bring that up a little bit.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
So let me ask you this.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
In the years since the Dodgers were in the World Series,
they've had a first round bike correct.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Let's see, well in twenty twenty when they won it,
of course, the pandemic here they were forty three and seventeen.
Everybody played, nobody got a boy. But other than that, yes,
they had one year when they beat the Giants. The
Giants won the division in the Dodgers beat them in

(05:01):
the Division Series, but then lost to the Braves in
the LCS.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Atlanta won the World Series that year. That was what
twenty twenty one.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
I guess yep, when they won that when they were
defending world champs, they actually finished They won like one
hundred and six games and finished a game back of
San Francisco beat the Giants, they won a wild card
of the Cardinals beat the Giants in the Division series,
then lost to the Braves in the LCS, who went
on and won the World Series over Houston.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Well, it seems like, you know, those teams with to
buy somehow are at a disadvantage when it comes to
the MLB playoffs. Remember Rangers belew that Al Wesley had
to play right out the bat against Tampa Bay and
able to win the World Series. And of course we
know that we knew what happened in the NL last season.
So maybe Craig Dodgers had just let the Padres win

(05:45):
the division and then because you've already had the playoffs spot,
you know, maybe that'll help.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Here's the problem back again, here's the problem with that.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
If they if the Padres wind up winning the way
things are going right now, the Podres could wind up
being the three seed, and therefore they'd have to meet
each other all over again in the wildcard round. Yeah,
because there's going to be The Astros are gonna be
in the wildcard round.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
They're gonna be the three seed.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
They did clinch the American League Central last night or
American League West last night, but the Astros are going
to be the three seed. And there's a chance if
San Diego overtakes LA, then Milwaukee could overtake the West
Division winner and be the two seed.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
So it'd be interesting to see how all that works out.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
So it's some crazy stuff in baseball, so we'll get
to that as well.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
But up next, Brian

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Jones CBS, the lifetime Logorn joins us when we continue
on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the zone of the
