Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hanging out with us right now is Zachariah or z
a case on Sports on Twitter. He is the former
Warriors pre and post game host in five years of
hosting at the Home of the Warriors ninety five seven
the game Zach, Right, how are you feeling today, buddy?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
No, I'm feeling fantastic.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Number one.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
I know who picked that rejoying for me, because that's mister.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Fab got the North, got that, he's got the West
with me.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Number two. Shout out to my.

Speaker 5 (00:28):
Boy Cody Cole.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
And if you get that reference, he might be too young,
but that's the Martin reference right there, coldly.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Cole.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Yes, and you my friend. Andrew is my middle name
and my name starts with a Z or Andrew Z.
So where to go?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I'm feeling good, man, what's popping?

Speaker 5 (00:44):
I'm feeling great?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
All right?

Speaker 5 (00:46):
Well, let me ruin your day already.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Let's talk about Tim Legler and what he had to
say today about Jonathan Minga saying that Kaminga needs, yes,
that the Warriors need Cominga more than Kaminga needs the Warriors. Now,
I like Legs. I think he's a great NBA analyst,
and I think Kaminga got underused in Golden State. But
tell me you're there. What is the what's the vibe?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
I will tell you this about the vibe is that
people are Look, it's hard to be mad at Steve
Kerr for a team.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
You're probably too young.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
I don't know your age.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I'm forty one, but I remember the days of Bimbo
Coles and Victor Alexander and when the Warriors were just
an I mean Steph Curry and Klay Thompson when they
were rookies were walking on Bart, the Bart training.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
System out here at public transportations and.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Handing out free tickets to come to Warriors games. That's
how bad it used to be. So it's hard to
be mad at Kerr.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
But I will tell you this.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Warriors fans, my friends, I'm on text threads all the time.
They have not really been again bad at him.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
When he wins four titles and.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
He takes them to the precipice that Mark Jackson could.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Not when they made that transition, but they have not
been happy with him.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
In terms of how he has dealt with younger players. Now,
whether that's moody, why has been might just be a
buzz full blown because he went to Detroit and he
hasn't done anything anyway, So that just might have been
a disaster no matter.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
How you dealt with it. But specifically taminga.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
You can see times when he's playing freely and he
feels like he's got the green light and he's not
looking over his shoulder to get ganked or even getting
dnp's or getting benched. A lot of the people out
here in the Bay Area have not been happy with
how Kurz dealt.

Speaker 5 (02:22):
With the younger players.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
And it's weird too, because you think to yourself, there's
a lot of legendary coaches who just their time runs out.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
His mentors.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Phil Jackson had his time run out multiple times, not
only with the Bulls but with the Lakers twice. You
wonder if it's ay, is it time for Kerr to
kind of step aside and let somebody else step in
there and maybe rebuild this team.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
I think okay, number one, I think you make a
good point. Phil Jackson might have just been really great
at coaching great players. Right He had Jordan Fiffen, Rodman
and everybody.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Else in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Then he goes to LA and he's got Tobe and
so maybe he was just good at dealing with high
caliber players that had big egos in managing those and
Per kind of walked into having the Slash Brothers, which
is unarguably the greatest backcourt shooting duo in the history
of all time. What's a guy of you know, Draymond

(03:17):
Green's status, who does all this dirty work. I mean,
he had a lot of good pieces and making that transition.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Look, it's tough, like that whole Playt Thompson thing.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
I don't know how much you guys saw that.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Out in Texas, and I know he's with the Mavericks now,
but that breakup was ugly because step got paid, Graymond
got paid and Play didn't get paid, and they kind
of just let his contract expire. And he felt a
little hurt by that.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
You know, he got hurt with.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
The ACL obviously and then coming back from that pop
his achillies. But I know he was but hurt because
he he brought four.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Championships to that team and they kind of kicked him.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
By the wayside in terms of in terms of Per stepping.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Down or stepping aside. I would have to think if.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
I'm the owner, that I'm allowing him to make that decision.
If he decides that he's no longer the best coach
to coach the team.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Then he can walk away on his own.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
But I'm certainly not firing him.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Well, that's the thing too, is I love Steve Kerr.
When he was in the front office of the Phoenix Suns.
He did a great job over there, building a caliber
roster that might have won a title. I wonder, though,
if it is time to kind of move aside Curry's
getting up there in age. Maybe when Curry exits stage left,
Kurr joins him. That's what I'm thinking thoughts are at least.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Yeah, Well, you know, the running joke out here has
always been that, you know, Curry's gonna end his career
in Charlotte, which is where he grew up. And you know,
maybe when that time comes, it does.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
But you know, look this whole NBA.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
I was talking about this earlier the finals with an asterisk,
the fact that Halliburton went out with the popped Achilles
in the first quarter after he was shooting like step
from damn near halfport in that game. I mean, I
got an asterisk on that title for the thunder and
so you know, I look at the landscape and when

(05:09):
they brought in Jimmy Butler, they went like what ten
and two or fourteen and three or whatever it was, and.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Then they beat the Rockets.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
In seven, and then Steph gets hurt.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
So you don't really know what you could have done
with that team.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Who knows, Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Doesn't look to be totally mentally solid on their end,
and maybe they would have won that series if Steph
hadn't gotten hurt. So I don't know do you bring
the van back again? The West is so deep, Andrew.
I mean, when you look at the East, it's all
wide open. By the way, conspiracy weird thing theory. Three people,
three superstars that wear number zero all pop there at Phillies,

(05:46):
Dame Lillard, Jason Tatum, and Tyrese Haliburton.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
But the East is now wow, you know.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
And as far as I'm concerned, wide open, because.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
The Celtics are not going to be who you think.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
They would be.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
The Pacers lost Miles Turner and they're not gonna have
Albert for a bunch of it. Who knows what's going
on in Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
It looks like it's kind of the Knicks division to lose.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
But you go to the West, all three Texas teams
that I'm you know, people listening in their car right now.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
All three Texas teams.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Are probably better than the Warriors. You could argue Minnesota's
better than the Warriors. You could definitely say, okay, See's
better than the Warriors. I mean, where do they really
stacked up? Even if they just go back all in,
which is what you know, I heard.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
You teams before the last segment.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Whether or not they bring Lebron in, that can change
a lot of things. I know that's probably a top
three or four destination for Lebron.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
I don't know if he's gonna leave it all.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
But if he does, you know, I just don't know
where the Warriors stacked.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Up when when Jimmy Butler is on the you know,
the bad side of thirty, so is Steph Curry, and
so is Draymond Green. And those are your three guys.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
That you would hope get you to, you know, the championship.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
We're talking to Zach Rye on the NBA, Zak Sports
on Twitter. Now, you know Mike Brown pretty well, being
on the West seeing the Sacramento Kings and what they
were able to do. He signs on with the Knicks,
to take over that job to be adult in the room. A.
Is this the right hire? B Are you concerned about
the Are you concerned about the Knicks's move?

Speaker 4 (07:17):
If I were to sum up Mike Brown, and I did,
I did radio and Sacramento for a while as well
when he was there, got Coach of the Year. If
I were to sum up Mike Brown in a word, I.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Would say conundrum because he.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Obviously was with the Warriors as as an assistant for
those championship runs, and prior to that, you know, he
had Lebron in Cleveland and got to the finals but
didn't win one, and there was a lot of talk
that he wasn't a great coach and that maybe Lebron
had a part in pushing him out. Then he goes
to the Lakers and it didn't go well with Kobe either.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
He has his time with.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
The Warriors, I'm sure he learned under.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Her and the other great assistants that are there.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Went to Sacramento, gets some to like a three or
four seed or whatever it was, wins Coach of the Year,
but then he quickly was fined the next year.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Halfway through the next year.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
So no idea if he's a great coach or not.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
Here's what I do know. He's got a fun of experience.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
And he's way more of a player's coach, and more importantly,
in my opinion, he's way more of an assistant coaches coach.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
Now. I know that sounds crazy, but.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Tom Timbodeau was the kind of guy.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
When he called a time out, he told all of
his assistants to get rocks.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Go in the background.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I'm gonna go talk to my players when games were over. Before,
he was like a hermit crab. He's never been married,
not that that should matter, but he's specifically chosen not
to have a wife and kids because he wants to
dedicate himself like he's a basketball psycho, which can be good, but.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
It also can't be bad.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
I guess my point is Mike Brown is going to
be a lot more collaborative in New York, and I'm
assuming that the players there are all Anthony Towns and
Dalen Brunson specifically probably had to say in this, and
if they signed off on it, then I think it'll
go better. I can't say that it's the right higher though, Andrew,

(09:09):
because again he's a conundrum. To me. I have no
idea if he's a great poach amount.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
So finally, let's talk about a player that you once had, Lebron.
James Davi mc minman on ESPN LA this morning was
saying that there's a world where Lebron gets bought out
and where would he end up? He mentioned the Dallas
Mavericks and the New York Knicks. A is this actually
a story? And b can you imagine a fifty three
million dollars buyo for a forty one year old player?

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Well, did we not just see Dame Lillard get bought
out for over the what over the next five or
four years, he's gonna get twenty six million or something
like that. I mean, this day and age, with what
Silver is trying to do in terms of keep the
competitiveness at a high level and not have You know,
we haven't seen a repeat champion in like damn near

(09:55):
a decade.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
The apron is is real.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
So yes, I mean I could see that.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
I don't know that it's going to happen.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
First of all, Lebron.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Has so many things going on outside of the basketball
court that's not to be a knock on him at
all and say that he's not fully dedicated to his craft.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
But he's got movie deals, and.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
He's got the shop, and he's got like all.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
These different There was a game show.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
That I was watching randomly on some Sunday and it
said executive producer Lebron James, so La is a perfect
spot for him. But I know he wants to win
another title. And in terms of who he could possibly
go to, the way that they're listing it is the Mavericks,
which I don't know exactly. I mean, first of all,
they already made the deal Luca for Anthony Davis.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Now what would go back to.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
The Mavericks in order to make that work. Then the
Warriors are up there because we saw what Stephan Bron
did in those Olympics, and you know they love playing together.
And the Warriors tried to trade for James in the
twenty twenty four deadline.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
And then also on top of that, the Knicks.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
The Knicks have been.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Wanting James since he came into the league. So I
could see them, just because.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
It's New York and Madison Square Garden finding a way
to bring him in. I don't know how much it
would make them better. They probably have to move og
Otanoby and.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Mitchell Robinson, I'm guessing.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
Would be part of it, and they could still beat
mckel bridges and Josh Hart and obviously Pat and Jalen.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
And then the number one.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Thing that they're saying is maybe he ends.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
His career where he started. Now the Calves. There was
supposed to be a Calves.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
Thunder finals if you remember.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
And the Calves, you know there was some injuries involved
and I certainly think that that played into it, But
that was a very disappointing playoff performance by them, but
they were.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
The number one seed.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
They do have Donovan Mitchell.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Again, I don't know what would come back but him,
Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and with the East being.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
Wide open, as I said.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
I can see that, but ultimately I don't really see
him going anywhere.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I mean to you, I mean to me, would.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Be a huge move if he left the Lakers. I
think there's too much for him off the court in
LA And it's not like he doesn't have Luca and
they just signed DeAndre Ayton. I mean, they've got a
formidable squad. They're clearly building around Luca and it's gonna
be whatever Luca wants. And obviously ownership change, so that
plays into it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Ultimately, I see him staying put.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
But those are kind of the four teams where you
can kind of see it.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Zacharariah on the NBA, you vom on Twitter, z Ak
Sports and Brother, it's always fun to talk to you.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
Thanks so much, man, appreciate.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
You have a great fourth And by the way, hell
bleeping yes, you put ketchup on your hot dogs.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
I wi'll talk about it next. It's inconceivable. Is it
makes sense to make the catch him on your hot dog?
Also some of the big stories and I've got some
fun facts on the fourth of July. I'll come it
up next on The Craigway Show on Sports Radio and
