Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cole.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
I'll be honest, you asked me in the break, he said,
you give me a dollar if I could name that tune.
And I can't do a buddy, Wait, what do you
got for me?
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Backstreet Boys larger than life?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
See, there you go, there you go, Cole's and far artists.
I got coal into music, the artists. I got coal
into music because the Backstreet Boys just absolutely just a
head scratcher to me. Well, we'll have to talk about this.
We have a conversation and a group getting together to
revoke man cards here pretty soon, Backstreet Boys, that might
be a revocable offense, to be honest. We'll see, we'll
(00:35):
see what the what the group has to say. All right,
NBA free agency rolls on, and we've had a couple
of big names that have moved around a little bit,
right you big yall can purdle guys sign a contract
four year extension with the Toronto Raptors. Valancechunis gets traded
to the Nuggets with four Dario Saric Uh. You know,
(00:55):
I liked I like Sark when he was with the
seventy six ers. But the news obviously of the day
he was a free agent center Miles Turner agreeing to
a four year contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. And because
he was able to sign that contract, that meant the
Bucks had to move off of somebody. That's somebody being
Damian Lillard. They bought out the one hundred and thirteen
million dollars he was owed. Lillard averaged about twenty five
(01:18):
points per game over the last two seasons with the
Bucks before he tore his achilles in this year's playoffs.
He was one of those three Marquee Stars to have
an achilles injury. He was the first. Jason Tatum for
the Boston Celtics was second, and then Tyres Halliburton in
Game seven of the NBA Finals was that third star.
And I have a lot of thoughts on this first off,
(01:40):
The Pacers are forty eight minutes away from winning their
first championship in franchise's history, right, the first NBA championship
in franchise's history. They're a good ABA team and now
they're blowing up the group. They're letting Turner walk. And
according to reports, Miles Turner went to be in Indiana
for the last eight years. He has been in every
(02:01):
single trade discussion. Oh, Miles Turner's gonna moved in the
off seasons and moved at the trade deadline. Okay, after
the trade deadline next season, he'll get move. He was
always on that trade block. They get to the NBA Finals,
he's asking for a little bit more money, and they say, okay,
we're not gonna pay it. We don't want to go
in the luxury, especially not knowing what Tyre's halliburton looks
(02:22):
like coming off an Achilles injury. Good luck, God bless,
goodbye now if he goes in For the last eight years,
he has been in every single trade discussion. Oh, Miles
Turn's gonna moved in the off seasons and moved at
the trade deadline. Okay, after the trade deadline next season,
he'll get move. He was always on that trade block.
They get to the NBA Finals, he's asking for a
(02:44):
little bit more money, and they say, okay, we're not
gonna pay it. We don't want to go in the luxury,
especially not knowing what Tyre's halliburton looks like coming off
from Achilles injury. Good luck, God bless, goodbye now if
he goes anywhere else, If Miles Turner signs with the
Lakers or if he comes to San Antonio and joins
the Spurs. Now, Indiana fans would understand, but he went
(03:06):
to Milwaukee, a team that they do not like, but
they have Gianisanta Takupo, the greatest player in franchise's history,
and has he claimed that he's wanted out yet hasn't
told the management yet. He hasn't said that the Milwaukee
Bucks front office trade me, so they have to go
out and find a way to put a competitive roster
around him. Does that mean that he's happy about it? Well,
(03:27):
according to him on Twitter, he's not. Giannis seems like
he's in the dark, and according to reports, Chris Haynes
from Yahoo has said that he does not like the
situation that he's in. He doesn't know what the Milwaukee
Bucks front office is doing. I will say this, I
think somebody's lying. Either Giannis is lying to the media
saying that he didn't know that Dame was going to
(03:48):
get traded, or he knew the entire time, not traded,
but sid stretched cut essentially paid out. He either knew
and he's trying to play the nice guy in the media,
or he didn't know, which I find very very hard
to believe. But the winner of this whole day isn't
the Bucks. It isn't the Pacers staying underneath the luxury tax.
(04:11):
It's Damian Lillard. Damian Lillard is the biggest winner of this.
In fact, it wouldn't shock me if we got reports
come not now, but maybe a little bit down the
line that Lillard has to get bought out because it's
the first time in his career that he's going to
be an unrestricted free agent. He can go sign with
whoever he wants, and granted, coming off an Achilles injury
(04:31):
and older than thirty and being a smaller guard, he
probably isn't gonna go get that one hundred million dollar
contract extension that he would have got if he was healthy.
That's completely fine. He's still getting one hundred and thirteen
million dollars paid out to him from that contract from
Milwaukee Bucks. So he can go sign a mid level exception,
you can go ring chase, which again I imagine he probably
(04:53):
will end up doing. Here, he is by far, hands
down the biggest winner of this entire situation. He now
gets to go extend himself to some teams, and on
top of all of that, right nobody likes to be rushed.
I don't like being rushed to come to work. You
don't like being rushed out of the office. Nobody likes
(05:14):
being rushed. Lillard now can rehab at his own pace,
meaning that instead of if the Milwaukee Bucks are in
a spot late in the season that they need a
little bit of a playoff push and he's trying to
get cleared and come back earlier than maybe he should
and could re injure himself. Instead of dealing with that headache,
he now can rehab at his own pace. Maybe he
can come back in mid April, and maybe he gets
(05:35):
signed by a team who's trying to make a playoff run.
Would it shock you if the Lakers late in the season,
if they again can find a way to stay in
that second ear of first Apron and be able to
get that mid level exception player. Would it shock you
if they decide to make some moves and get in
Damian Lillard, a guy who wants to go win a title.
Would it shock you if the Spurs are in a
(05:56):
position with the Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper and Steph
Castle and them to sell if they want to add
a little bit more bench depth at the point guard
position and bring Dame off the bench would shock me.
I kind of see that as a good situation for Dame,
and we went through a little earlier the best positions
for him and the favorites for him to go different places.
(06:17):
I don't necessarily love. I know Cole, who is a
born and bred Oakland guy, likes the idea of Lillard
going back to his home stopping grounds and joining the
Golden State Warriors. The Warriors, I understand that. I get
that the idea. I would be concerned because that seems
(06:38):
already kind of old, adding another older guard what that
could look like. But if you told me that Lillard
and Curry get an entire playoff series to play with
each other, look defensively, it would be atrocious. But offensively
it'd be fun to watch. It'd be electric. It'd be fireworks.
I just don't know what they would look like when
they run into, say the Minnesota Timberwolves, who have some
(07:00):
good guard depth and a good length and defense, and
they have to chase Anthe Edwards around. I don't know
what that looks like. Offensively though, would be fun.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yeah, I mean it would just be ragining threes, just
you know, per usual like it is in at the
Chase Center already. But I mean for me, look, I
want every like, you know, top free agent to go
to golden status. I was actually rooting for Kevin Durant
to come back, you know, in that sense of I'm
happy he's in Houston. I was actually rooting for him
to go to your Spurs as well. But yeah, it's
(07:32):
just gonna be They're gonna be too old at that point,
I was looking at twenty twenty six top free agents.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
But who knows how he's.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Going to come back. But with modern medicine again, like
we said earlier in the first hour, he can come
back even you know, better and stronger than ever you
said it earlier. Acls are the new or achilles are
the new mcl injuries. And depending on where he wants
to go, he's gonna have the pick of the litter.
And in his sense, does he want to ring and
just want to kind of yeah, go ahead, that's the
(08:01):
best spot to be into me if you're a Lillard.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Because you talked about Kevin Durant going to the Rockets,
the Rockets seem to be able to sign everybody. I
don't know how their cap is working the way that
it's working, but it's working out for the best. They
can go get a guy like Clincabella, they can go
sign some of these other players. I like that. And
if you said to me tomorrow, hey, though Houston Rockets
are your twenty twenty six champion, wouldn't shock me. I
(08:26):
could totally see a world where the Rockets are the
team that's hoisting the trophy at the end of the year,
And if that does end up happening, having Lillard on
that stage next to Kevin Durant again would not necessarily
shock me. I wouldn't. I wouldn't mind that spot for
him to be in all of this, of course, coming
off of Achilles' injury, all the idea that he can
(08:46):
continue to be some sort of a contributing piece again
though the Rockets, you remember they went and traded for
a John Wall coming off an achilles injury that fell apart,
mostly because of how much money john Wall was owed.
Only be out a mid level exception. He's gonna get
a vent Men type of contracts. So I like the idea.
We'll see, We'll see what happens. Speaking of free agents,
(09:07):
the NFL free agency continues to heat up. There's some
pretty big name guys who are on the market. We
will talk about who is the best spot or who's
left of the best. We'll talk about it next on
