Speaker 2 (00:02):

Show podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Make subscribe.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
It all makes sense. The lux too out now crazy, congratulations,
thank you. So you go into this project saying yourself,
I'm going to Africa, new vibes, new surroundings, We're gonna
get it done. I don't know what is going to happen,
but I know it's going to happen.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Who wrap me up there, read me down, let's go.
That's it is that it, that's literally it. Didn't know
what to expect, didn't know who I was gonna be
even working with, where I was gonna be staying my
boy v script was like, trust me, I already went.
I navigated the land. I met incredible people. They're gonna
take care of the flights, They're gonna take care of

(00:45):
the hotels, the ground.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Chin.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
It was like it was just.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
An amazing time to just go create and then come
with something completely different.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yeah. Yeah, fearlessly when you go, what's the conversation with
your family, with your wife? Yeah, people that you love, yes,
and you don't necessarily have answers to their questions.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
I'm like, yo, I'm going, but they know that the
music thing is the true passion and true purpose through
it all, and the foundation that keeps us sustained and
able to maintain. So whenever I have an idea and epiphany,
a vision anything like that is like above me. You know,

(01:25):
it's from God. It's like, Yo, this is what we're doing.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I'm not out here, We're not playing around.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
They know what we're doing.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
So it's like, hey, this is what we're doing, bab Yeah,
daddy working and they gave me the best support.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
We know our time schedules, so at you know, eight
am when they're going to school, I know the time's
all different, so I can still be on FaceTime in
a car.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
That's good. When were you out there?

Speaker 3 (01:45):
This last trip was a week because I just got
back two days ago. But the one before that, yeah,
when we were recording, that was like two weeks. This
was like the go promo, but the first one was
to go live create of residence up there.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I think.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
So I'm trying to you know that through December is
coming up, so I'm going back again. It's a vibe
out there's so much music and the new birth of energy.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I'm telling you, like I think Africa is going to
be the new you know, main spot for the music.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
It's crazy, man. You know, go where inspiration is and
find it right, search for it.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
And I love the or. I love the fact that
instead of going country, we went to Africa.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Yeah you feel me.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
No, We're not going up there, man, I mean I
feel you dude.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
What you got to do?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Did you learn anything new being in Africa? Like Africa?

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
The whole time is just a learning experience because I'm
adapting the entire time because I've built this lifestyle here
that is like, hmm, everything's good, period. I don't got
to do nothing, It's already done over there. It was
like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Like I was just felt disconnected in a way that
was healthy for me, in therapeutic in a way that
I didn't even realize because I'm so used to things
just being you know. It just kept me on my
toes like, oh, wow, I have to I have to
work for everything. Wow, everything.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
You almost have to strip it down to the basics, right.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
For sure, exactly when we were recording, but it wasn't
using an auto tune or none of that. When I
was outside, it wasn't easy. I couldn't even use my car,
Like the cars don't work. Their African banking systems are
completely different, so even the ATM don't work.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Oh wow, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
So this is when I was in Legos, but Cape Town, honestly,
when we was recording, that's where were in South Africa.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
When we did the project. It was like La Beverly Hills.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I'm like, oh yeah, this is out we outside outside
bro Yeah, and Legos it was just like I'm riding
down the street and I'm like sad. I'm sad feeling
like the way the living is totally different. It's like
the people are twelve deep in a four seater, you
know what I'm saying, And like the whole road is

(04:10):
full of that, you know.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Like I'm like, how come so many people in the car?
Is that a family?

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Like? No, that's like a bus transit, you know, like
to that extent the transportation. I'm like, everybody's power in there,
like the hold in you know what i mean. So
the service, you know, the Wi Fi, the police security
was crazy, like.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
What they go through out there. We could never never.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
We can never, Bro.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I was just grateful, Okay, with all due respect that
you pick up an accent.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
That joint ain't coming easy.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I feel like as I when out ever I try
to do it, I'm like insulting. I'm like, relax, Bro,
don't do that.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
We're not a hole much easy. That's amazing, man, find
you find yourself out there, right. Yeah, you know you're intact,
you know who you are, but there's still so much
to discover, especially when it comes to writing music.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Exactly, Bro. Creating in a different way too.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
When you're working with your normal routine, how you get down,
you know that's cool. But when you when you have
to be shaken up, it causes your mind to think
a little differently. You know, now you're in crisis mode
rather than comfort zone.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Nah, be comfortable in crisis mode, man, Right, I like that.
I like whatever?

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Man, like that? Which way we're going?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Feel me? Because then you know, if you sit in
that long enough, the tensional fizzle away.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
M h exactly, yep. The unfamiliar territory will become a
safe space.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Safe space without you. It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, man, love that sound. I could tell you're trying
different things there, you know, nothing too crazy, but just
enough to like, you know, feel it out and that
be crazy. Man, that's it.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
That's it, that's it.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Without You is it's crazy because today, well yesterday, really,
I've been just trying different music from the album and
using it on the difference posts social media and.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Seeing which ones and people respond to.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
And yesterday that was the first time I used Without You,
and it was just a refreshing feeling even for me,
like this is a love song, but it's still cool,
fun chill, it's not preachy.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
It just feels good, good vibe.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Would I be Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, I wish I could say.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Cruising.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
That hasn't worked out for me yet. Talk. I'd rather
sing and write music, bro Yo. There's there's so many
positives when it comes to writing music, right, What are
the negatives? Is there a negative that stands out one
or two?

Speaker 3 (06:59):
No negative, it's no negatives, no negatives.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Just don't be cap and in the.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Rap okay, cap in the caption.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Cap Yeah, that's all because the people we see through
it now.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Game, you can't fool nobody.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
It's real.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
You gotta be really about their lifestyle.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
You said something recently like yo, Like, you know, when
you write music, the artist they'll stop performing, but the
song continues to perform exactly.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
That's real ship, Yep, no matter what, man, at the
end of the day, we got to hit that casket.
It's crazy to think that, but even when we do,
the music will live on forever. And that's when legends
are birthed. You know, it's a lot of people saying
it's legends right now.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Legend, legend, legend, legends is like you'll know.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
It's thrown around too crazy, so you'll see you know,
you know who a legend is.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
We know your grandma knows. If your grandma don't know
where it ain't a legend. We can say you're a
legendary because you just wrote for everybody, even your The
dairy on the end is cool.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
That's the only time I like the dairy when it's legendary,
because a legendary act is an adjective.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
That's cool, and you go legend it's now it's a
person placeant thing, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
And I ain't even I ain't even there yet.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
No, No, we all work to do, that's right. Legends
don't want to perform their songs anymore because you said,
all the way to the casket, let her keep performing.
Someone do that one song.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Yeah, some people just refuse performances to hit that one
that made him get on that stage in the first place.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
That's the weirdest part about it.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
You know what they want to hear, but HiT's people
got pride, but my new Like, nah, I'm a gat
I'm glad that you got like a new one in
the mix. You know, we had so tie in there,
but we was rocking with the joints that people love
you for, you know what I mean. So that's important always.
I know a lot of times people get sick of it,

(08:57):
sick of performing it.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
I'm my god, I'm tired of that song.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
But it's like, man, these people came here to see
you sing that song, right, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
They're gonna sing it with you. Dog, They're gonna take over.
They're gonna take out there and enjoy the fruits of
your labor.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
It's a moment, right exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
You can't just to get off the train.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Exactly, give them what they want, and then you spoon feed.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yep, yep, yep. All wins Entertainment. Yes, sir, let's talk
about it, bro about six seven months ago.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Yes, yes, so we've been yeah officially we've been cooking
it up now for years, but now it was time.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
You know, it was like yo, the people seeing it.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I've been dropping all my music on the label for
so long, and it's just dope to have learned so
much over the years since the out of Winner days. Wow.
So now I'm able to pay it forward and you know,
look out for artists that I believe in, like my
guy right here, Compton, he's actually with us today. We're
about to drop his new joint real soon called Nice

(09:56):
to meet you. And this is my brother that I've
grown up with, you know what I mean twenty years.
So to be able to work with people that I
just believe in and get away from all the you know,
everybody like, oh, what's the numbers, what's the viral like?

Speaker 1 (10:10):
What's she looking like? What's it looking like?

Speaker 3 (10:12):
No, let's develop first, let's develop it, and then now
you have, you know, something that's unbreakable and unshakable, All
Winds Entertainment.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Let's go. I saw the video on the gram too
a few months back. You know the jerseys and yeah
and all that. Yeah. I was like, yo, my man
doing the ship man.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah, man, all wins. This is my middle name is Aldwin,
so it's in the name.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Ah. You know family, Yeah, we had your family up
here recently. You guys know who his sister in laws? Yeah,
make it making good.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
That's a beautiful person.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Ah.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Man, just glowing, just glowing. Yeah man, it's dope.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
I'm just excited to see her in this era, you
know what I mean, just shining and you know, Jonathan
is just it's just everything for her and I just
love that for her.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
And yes, exactly, Yo.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
You signed to AI artists?

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Yes, yeah, yes, what's not about?

Speaker 3 (11:15):
So it really came from me having an overload of songs.
So it's not it's like I'm signing them, but I'm
also creating them, you know what I mean, Like tailored
to what I wanted to look like, the sounds that
I wanted to sound like.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
But it's still my voice, still me singing.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
But you know, I'm able to pitch two different styles
of delivery in the music with this tool, you know
what I mean. Using it in my favor, it's like,
you know, a lot of people are concerned and questioning it,
but it's like, yo, you gonna hear that difference. It's
still its Hey, I still will be slapping better than

(11:54):
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
I know, I know, like we shouldn't be scared of it,
but we should be aware of it. I guess, use
it before it uses up. Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
I'm not gonna be the last one. You know, you
don't move with the times. You get left behind.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
That's crazy. So you're you're behind it one hundred percent, right, yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
I think so, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
I don't like when people just be like, make me
an R and B song jazz female singer.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
That's nuts, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
So I'm more so, like I said, this is my
song that I wrote and composed from one hundred percent
to now. Let's just play with the voice. Whether it's
a female a male country style. You know, you can
do any any type of style music, but the foundation.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Will forever be Eric Bellinger.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Yeah, man, yeah, you going on tour.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
That's my favorite part of life right now. We outside,
you know what I mean. I was ready for arenas
and theaters. I was ready for those, you know, I
was really ready for those. Now, you know, I get
to step up a little bit and give more of
the show that I've been waiting to give to the people,
but it just wasn't time yet, you know. So of
then Bacon and now man, shout out to Jagged Edge,

(13:04):
shout out to Lloyd, because we're about to get people
a real show, some real R and B in Ontario. Yes, Ontario,
first show next week. Somebody tell me yesterdays next week.
I say, wait already, Yo, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yeah, So I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
A lot of things coming up. Yeah, we ain't coming
up to our Coloneen Thanksgiving Holidays given.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Yeah, man, I'm hi bro music, new music out and
now it's like dope to have people be able to
hear what I'm what I've been on and just excited
for people to hear the next the new chapter, the label,
the movie.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Make sure you check out.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
The movie movie.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
I got a movie out on the streets right now.
It's called Soul of a Sister. Pretty much are imitating life.
Looking for talent, not the viral, not the you know
what I mean, like the real talent that makes you
feel something. So it was dope to get to play
myself low key, but now just got I got the bug.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
So I'm ready to get more more more, Yes, sir, yes.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Sir yo. What was the process like, you know, writing
a song like Rush? What was that for you?

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Man?

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Russia was dope because I was able to collapse a
lot of these songs are collapsed, So it's not from
my mind from consumption, you know what I mean? Like, Okay,
here's It's like collaboration is the key everybody to greatness.
My buddy Killstone, who's actually the producer on the song,
kind of like a DJ khalt. You won't hear them,
but you'll feel them, you know what I mean. That's

(14:31):
him who did that beat. And then you got projects
featured on the joint. And to me, it's like whenever
someone sends me a record like that, that one was
just sent, it was like for me to fall in
love with it. It was like, damn, this is how
the other people feel when I give a song to them.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Wow, this is a blessing.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
So we full circle now to where people are actually
submitting records for me.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
That's right, yeah, yeah, about there's a line that says
they focused on me and fell in love with the
man in the mirror.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yes, I tap into a higher power now I see
things more clearer. So that one I wrote, for sure,
that was like very reflective, you know what I mean,
very like self discovery. And when people say which song
means the most on the album, it's definitely lost and
found because it just is an ongoing discovery of yourself.

(15:29):
Every day we live, you know, we as we get
older and we have new experiences, we learned that we
may hate something that we thought we once loved. And
as that happens for me every day, sometimes it might
change again, you know. But I'm just here for the
roller coaster and proud of what I've become.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
So that's what Loston found.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
It is right you have fun making money for song money.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Oh yeah, that one's fire crazy. That one was dope.
That's the last song that made the album.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
So it was like I had to kick one off
for that and sorry that one. Uh, it was just
laying the game for order.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
It's in the wings. It'll come out, you know what
I mean, any time. It'll come out as a scene.
You gotta arrange it might work better for you.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
There you go, It all makes sense again, exactly.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
It's still making.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
It, still making it's gotta make sense. We're gonna make
it make sense.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Make it made it make sense.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
You feel me if it don't make sense.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
If it don't make dollars, it don't make.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Make sense, you feel me. But yeah, what's that process?
Like you're putting all the songs together, right, you gotta
make sure this is gonna be track five. We're gonna
do thirteen on this one. You're going to wrap it
up with the title track.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Yeah, man, it has to make sense really, like when
I'm making it. The song Lost and Found was the
last song because it was it summed it all up,
you know, Soul Tied when I was looking for the
first song. It has a siren in the beginning, you know,
and it just kicks off. We off the grade and
making those and it's like, okay, cool, this sets the scene.

(16:57):
So each song when it's going where would I be
without you? Right after that coming in number two is
important so people know it's like, oh, it's actually a
spiritual journey too, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yeah, yes, sure, yeah, you got a Dodger's prediction.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Ah, We're taking it all day West Coast repeat. Sorry, guys,
too easy crazy.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, remember you were you were Bellinger for Halloween. That
was a moment, Cody, you were you go, it's crazy, bro. Yeah,
that was everywhere everywhere. I was like, I had to
do it. I had to do it, man, Yo. So
why the title? It all makes sense.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
So when we were initially in Africa creating because it's
a two part dual album, the first one is called
It'll all make sense later. And when we were discussing
just what we were doing as a whole, it was like, yo,
I know, I know people not used to this, and
you know my buddy v who was mainly saying it's

(17:56):
like yo, they just gonna have to get used to it,
but you know, it'll makes sense later. And then it
was like quiet for a minute and then it just
resonated and I was like, that's the album title right there.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Lands Yeah, it'll find you. It'll find you right, and
Red was crazy ran dude, big Vibe shout out to
the homies. Those guys were in La Penny hit Away
got to shout him out. He just seen what we
were doing in Africa and was like, hold on, y'all
not gonna leave me out and was submitting heat. So

(18:28):
you know, I'm real, just just thankful for people to
want to be a part, you know. Like I remember
trying to use the songs from producers and writers that
only looked at me as the songwriter. So it was
tough to convince them to give me the song that
they wanted to give to Chris Brown.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
It was tough to get them to say no, this
is an Eric Bellinger record.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
But now the tables have turned to where they see
the vision the same way I do and just want
to be a part.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
So it's a blessing.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Is there a song that you wrote for someone else
that you wish was yours? You know?

Speaker 1 (19:07):
I like, I like, I love them all. Let me
tell you you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
I think the way find China makes me feel when
I hear that, it's like I love it, but it
sounds like Chris Brown, you know what I'm saying, Like
we wrote it. So it's like i'd be really intentional
to so I don't really fall in love like that
with the songs. I'd be cool to let them go
because yeah, man, I gotta be the oracle that I
could just write another one.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
That's right, do another one? How important is it for
you to have a partner like your wife and creating
music at the same time. Having a foundation, especially.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
For an artist like yourself, is man, it's important, and
not even to just have someone there for you, but
to have someone who understands your why, you know, to
have someone that knows how to hold you down in
the way you need, someone that you know has been
in it so that they can just understand in a way.

(20:03):
That's like, I'm not spending no time explaining something that
you already should know, you know what I'm saying. So
for us to have an understanding is like, it's just
it's priceless. Because before I was making songs, she was
being awarded at Soul Train Music Awards, you know what
I mean. So she been doing this music thing and

(20:24):
I've already looked up to her and respected her, and
I think that never went away. And then when I
got my turn, she just gave me the same respect.
So it's an ongoing like rally yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Yes, sir, sir, is there music coming out of the family.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
