You're listening to the downbeat on ninetyseven one the freak. The hell's going
on in Footworth? Mike, Ican't answer that, dude. A lot.
Something else happened, something else bad. Maybe Dingood's Morning News will have
the answers. We will shed somelight on the subject. Yes, there's

(00:21):
not more leakage of stuff in FortWorth causing great harm to people. Yeah,
Fort Worth, come on, comeon, y'all hold up your end
of the deal. Do better forWorth. Yeah, we got Dallas is
tight. Yeah, we never makemistakes over here. We have. By

(00:42):
the way, we podcast every singlesegment we do after the show. So
anything you missed from the week,go grab it. iHeartRadio app. You
know it's on Spotify, Spreaker, all the other places. Got some news
that just came in. So this. We had a discussion earlier in the
week about we were talking about SadayNight Live in how Justin Timberlake is gonna
be the musical guest tomorrow night ona new episode hosted by Dakota Johnson.

(01:04):
So Justin Timberlake and I was like, Okay, he hasn't released music in
like six years, so he's definitelyreleasing music and yesterday he released a song
Selfish, which I'll play a littleclip of in a minute. Last popped
in plastic instrument concept. Did theyput their ds in a box? They

(01:25):
put their DS in a box andwent and slapped it around Lower east Side?
I mean, one of the morememorable SNL's ushered in a new era
of digital shorts for SNL. Ithought, yeah, it skits since Saturday
on Sorday Live, right, Oh, yeah, you have to, dude,
he's good in all of those two. Why didn't they? Old dude,

(01:47):
they've got to bring Foulon back into do Barry GiB talk show.
They have to. He works inthe building, so surely he'll Yes,
Yes, everyone hates Jimmy Pound, one of my favorite sketches of all time,
and they have him double dip it. That's interesting. And I thought,
like, who hosted Dakota Johnson?Okay, what she did? What's

(02:07):
she into right now? Just kindof being the oh she got a film
coming out JJ? All right, she's just being the beautiful daughter of Don
Johnson and Melanie Griffin Griffith. That'san offshore power boating World champion Don Johnson.
Yes, now justin Timberlake's tour justhit. JJ just told me in

(02:27):
the break She's like, his tournoisdropped just this morning, and I was
like, I knew i'd play inthis segment earlier in the week. Great.
He will be Dicky's Arena June fourth. He's announced his tour that probably
has a weird name on it,because everyone names their tours. It does
so strange to me. What isit? The already Yeah, the Forget

(02:49):
Tomorrow World tour. Oh god,I'm just gonna be doing some shows.
How about I'm just going to bedoing my name world tour. You know,
we don't have to name every tourpeople. Hey, forget Tomorrow?
Well, I think he means soyou should care about today. Here's a
small clip of his new song thatI don't really like. But here's you
know, ten seconds of it.Twenty second seven. That's Mark Rugby A

(03:15):
I'm pretty sure awesome and I wouldn'tbe surprised. But they don't know you,
baby, I would. This isnothing on the nude in sync song.
I like it better now than Idid yesterday. Yeah, I don't

(03:37):
dislike it when you always stop it. I know I want to hear the
whole tune. Yeah, I thinkyou hate it. Eight seconds playing the
whole tune. You have to getto the chorus. You're gonna play a
boy band hit, you have toat least give us the chorus. Then
play sexy idiot playing a good song. You play six seconds and then stops
and complaints the first eight words,no good, not a hit? All

(03:58):
right, say it wasn't a hit. It could be. It's still not
be good garbage. Well, Iwas thinking about all these like boy bands
and then they have one guy thatbroke out, and if you don't care
about this, really stick around becauseDanny is going to light you up with
knowledge that I didn't even know aboutuntil we're discussing in the break room the
other day. I was thinking,in sync is you know probably my era

(04:18):
of just being twelve years old andthey're huge on TRL and he's the breakout
star. But we've seen it withMike's guy Juhng Kook from BTS. That's
right. Obviously Harry Styles has beena huge breakout from one direction? Is
he he's bigger than JT now, like right now? I mean yeah,
because he's forty three, you know, like yeah, I mean that's and

(04:40):
Harry's you know, late twenties. That's the only reason. But who would
listen to someone older than forty threefor entertainment purposes? Apparently no one.
Mike Danny Baylor, Shit, Mike, don't put thoughts into anyone's head.
Uh yeah. JT's sort of thetemplate for doing it all. And isn't

(05:00):
he a good actor? But hejust doesn't do that much. I tell
you what was his time? Timeless, time Watch, Wristwatch. He was
in the hit movie wrist Watch.Okay, I'm on the right track,
Alpha Dog, No, okay,he was good wrist He was good in
that Timeless, the Facebook movie hewas in. You don't remember that one?
Where is in the future? Helpme? What's the name of it?

(05:24):
Timeless with a man of sea Fred? I don't know where. You
had the damn clock on it?So you have this. When the clock
runs out on your wrist, that'swhen you die, so you can acquire
and purchase more time and time?Is it in time? That sounds movie
he was in, I don't know, that's probably it. No, I'm
sure it was Wristwatch. And allthe rich people are at their fancy parties

(05:46):
and they have like hundreds of thousandsof days or hours or million hours on
their way, and then the poorpeople are like, oh my god,
you know you only have aunt oftimes? Do you steal someone's time?
You kind of like a black mirrortype. No, absolutely black mirror.
And I don't know. I thoughtit was awesome. Oh he's great.
I think I think he's good.I mean the rest movie he's been in

(06:08):
his trolls, but all right, great movie. I don't need this.
Oh okay, JJ's got it.Okay. So I mean you can't even
go back to like New Kids onthe Block get a lot of breakout stars
from from that band, right,I mean Donnie Wahlberg, who was who
had had the best solo career outof Backstreet Boys. That's a tough one.

(06:28):
I would say. You would probablysay it was Nick Carter. None
of them really, none of themare comparative to to that. Now,
look, if you want to goback to the Osmond's and you can.
Yeah, if you want to goback to the Jackson five, yeah you
absolutely can do that. I thinkthose are a little bit but it's way
different, a little bit different. But those were kind of family bands.
They I think they actually were organic. I think those things organically happen when

(06:51):
you think of the boy band, right, you think of the concept of
a I don't know, some prettyuser that kind of fabricates these and gets
outsources songs and gets them in astudio and then creates a what's an actual
product to market and sell is onthe job. So it is kind of

(07:13):
unusual that something that is so fabricatedoutside of that those confines that you would
have any of those members reach likesuperstar status, you know, like the
Harry Styles, JT's of the world, like people like that. It just
seems kind of unlikely that that wouldhappen. But it's sort of a perfect

(07:33):
storm because they're they're they're farmed andbrought in and the most talented ones are
put into this prefab boy band that'sdesigned for, you know, the success
that they have. But you aregetting talented, good looking people and then
they become famous and they're more likelyto have their careers catch fire. But

(07:53):
I mean, no one would arguethat the Harry Styles and Justin Timberlake are
talented cool dudes. Sure, absolutely, So all of this conversation about these
boy bands kind of got me thinking, it's like you know a lot of
these boy bands in LA. Ithink a lot of them came from Florida,
I believe New York. One directionwas a UK Simon cal you know

(08:16):
UK. Yeah, he found hisguys and groomed him, put it on
the X Factor, you know, and they went and won. But he
was kind of he kind of discoveredthem or whatever, right when I never
liked them or whatever. But youknow, the Harry Styles story is very
interesting to me. And two ofthose other guys like have a solo career.
It's just not as big like JT, who can go b on SNL.

(08:39):
So it got me thinking back.I saw these bands were kind of
happening in the early mid two thousands, like that second wave of them,
and I was at the time playingin a couple of I don't know,
more like indie folk type bands aroundthat era in the mid two thousands,
a band called sorta in a bandcalled Sparrows, And you know, I'd

(09:03):
heard about this group. They werenot adjacent to what I was doing at
all, but there was a littlebuzz about this band that came out of
the DFW area back then, andI did a little internet sleuthing and I
was able to find out a littlebit more about them. The name of

(09:24):
the band was called Loads for You, and it's spelled l O A d
Z the number four and the letteryou. It's kind of a weird names,
like maybe like loads of love, you know, loads of money.
Maybe that's kind of what I'm assuming, but Loads for You it kind of
goes along with some of the otherweird boy band NAMESC has the N,

(09:48):
not I N, it's N andthen what was nicolas? Even in music,
you know blink one two or youknow, there's always bands of numbers
in them. Right. So Loadsfor You was formed, believe it or
not, in Uless in two thousandand four. I've never heard of it.

(10:09):
This was a mid Cities group ofkids or a young men. These
guys were I think largely in theirearly twenties, formed in Ulyss in two
thousand and four, and they wereput together by a restaurant tour slash wanna
be music producer. Now. Thisguy owned a string of restaurants back then
called Taketo Dreams, and he recruitedfive young men that he called from a

(10:31):
local talent show that was held Ithink a year before at Hewlen mall.
I hate when he mentions his foodon our morning show because I get hungry.
Now I'm hungry for Taketo's. Yeah. So the owner of Taketo dreams
he wants to be like a musicproducer and he sees these guys at a
talent show and is like, youknow what, I'm going to pick the

(10:52):
ones that I think are the best. And I've got some songs. I
got a buddy that's a songwriter.I'm gonna put them in the studio and
we're gonna make freaking record. Well, he gets them all together, all
right, So gets them in arecording studio and they put out this debut
EP. It's like six songs, and believe it or not, back then
it kind of became a local radiosuccess around these parts on certain stations that

(11:15):
would play that type of music. In fact, they played a lot locally
back then in their short career. And believe it or not, an iHeart
station at the time sponsored one oftheir concerts, and we have I was
actually able to find the sweeper fora Loads for U concert that happened in
Dallas in two thousand and four.JJ, you'll play that all this when

(11:39):
station? Hey, this is NickKreamer? You remember me? It's h
J and Theomproom. It's me GarlandRichardson Junior, and I'm CLEF and we're
from Lost. Join us tonight fora special concert at aw Shucks on Lower
Greenville, brought to you by KissFM, the number one hit music station.

(12:03):
Okay, so how do you findthat? Did Zach find that?
Yeah? I got a little bitof help from I think it was Ao.
He turned he's like the gatekeeper ofall the archives. So the loads
for you? What? Then again? Okay, so the band leader sounds

(12:24):
like he's the one doing most ofthe talking. Is this guy named Nick
Nick Kreamer? Okay, I feellike I remember him. Yeah, a
guy named Armando Alvarez. A dudenamed Garland Richardson Junior. So I guess
he's the son of the famous startcar racer of the the seventies and early
eighties. A kid named h J. And then and then Cliff Cliff.

(12:48):
Yeah. Now, I was ableto unearth a couple of promo photos of
this band, and they they kindof look like what you would expect their
names to represent. Yea, youknow, there's there's three of them that
are kind of you know, goodlooking dudes, Nick Kreamer, Garland Richards
is really handsome. And then thiskid named h J kind of the heart
throb, the secret heart throb ofthe group. And then they have you

(13:11):
know, multicultural, So they've gotArmando Alvarez, a Hispanic kid, Latino
kid with an incredible, beautiful highvoice. And then Cliff Cliff's African American
kid. And he's a little bitlarger than the rest of them, Okay,
wider, wider anyway, So theyyou know, did some shows,

(13:33):
but fame outside of the Metroplex escapedLoads for You, and within sixteen months
the members of Loads for You disbandeddue to substance abuse. There was some
sex scandals, there was a suicide, oh oh god, and a string
of low level crimes like car burglariesand loitering. They're spiraling. Yeah,

(14:00):
so the band just disappeared. Oneof the kids, you know, ended
up taking his own life, obviously, the heart throb HJ. Yeah,
you know, he couldn't handle thelocal fame and once it ended, you
know, he realized, it's like, this is as good as my life's
ever gonna get. So he endedup taking his own life. Rest in
peace. HJ So, after almosttwenty years of working as a customer service

(14:24):
rep for Alamo Rental car, theband leader, Nick Kreamer, the main
guy, at the age of fortythree years old, is primed to release
his first solo album ever, thefirst music that any member of Loads for
You has released in almost twenty years. So he's got a brand new album
out, Nick Kreamer. His albumis titled All Petered Out. Now would

(14:50):
you say, would you say NickKreamer was the one who had the most
talent in the band. Yeah, there's no question. He was definitely the
JT the Harry styles of his spokesmanwhen doing interviews and yeah, as you
could hear in the sweeper, youknow, JJ. Can we play that
sweeper one more time? This isKiss FM from two thousand and four,
all the Hits one station. Hey, this is Nick Kreamer. You remember

(15:13):
me. It's h Jen and it'sme Garland Richardson Junior and I'm CLEP and
we're from Join us tonight for aspecial concert at All Shucks on Lower Greenville,
brought to you by Kiss FM,number one hit music station. Interesting.

(15:33):
They played a local Gulf Coast oysterbar yeah, where like there's no
room the patios. It's it's alwaysright across the street. Maybe it was,
yeah nothing so anyway. Uh.Nick Kreamer, forty three years old,
uh, the lead member of Loadsfor You, has a solo album

(15:54):
titled All Petered Out, and wehave his debut single right now. It's
gonna make it's global debut right hereat their original home iHeartRadio on the Freak
and here it is a song offof his brand new record. This is
Nick Kreamer from Loads for You withYou've Got a Place. Oh hey,

(16:17):
girl, you know, there's alot of things that I want to do
to you, but there's even morethings that I want you to do to
me. So put on that MarvinGaye record, open up that bottle of
yellowtail from seven to eleven, andslide on that snail trail right down the
sofa next to me. Because tonightthat's sensation in my genes and it's making

(16:41):
me wet. I want to getand do something that shall never a fucket.
I know you wond it. Ican see the way you've found it
now, baby, button your blows. I've got some secret times you need
to know about. It's a specialinvitation. You can put away your mace.

(17:08):
As long as I've got a face, You've got a place to sit,
eat nature. You look at me, and that's perfectly clear. Are
you suggesting there's addition barking in therear butt off of Oh, I'm sorry,
that's not what you meant. Mygod, that taser really smart.

is phenomenal to a brand new singlefrom a cow Nick Kremer of Loads for

(18:41):
You. He is back, He'struly back. You've got a place.
I like the title got a place? It through me misleading once you hear
the lyrics He's dirty and the newalbum, All Petered Out comes out in
March. Yes, actually the sameday as JT's album March fifteenth. That
was rating. I think they're goinghead to head. Yeah, oh my
god, All Petered out by NickKreamer. Oh is he playing the hook

(19:07):
Line and Sinker next to the Dickie'sArena on the same day as well.
You can see him at a FishCity grill. Oh Man, Creamer's back.

of good stuff coming out in themid Cities. Loads for you. Good

(19:32):

middle song gave a shout out ripto HJ no his falling band mate.

the late her James. Why doyou need to hear it again? Not

(19:53):
