thirty eight in the morning Wednesday, you're listening to the downbeat on ninety seven
when the free We got ben AND'sSkin and Christina from ten to two this

(00:22):
afternoon Speakeasy, that's the midday speaksin the afternoon from two to six.
Oh, Skin's back or what hehad a wild adventure? Yeah he's with
the team. But yeah, anytimehere in his U behind the scenes stories
and everything. Different perspective on theMAVs. It'll be juicy with with those
boys. Today we got Mike Marshall, the Machine. He works for the

(00:45):
MAVs and he is a very knowledgeablebasketball man. He'll be joining us at
eight forty five fu an hour fromnow. We're gonna talk some more MAVs
in that segment. The eight thirtysegment we've got dingus morning news moved up
a half an hour eight o'clock foryou. Watching a new show on Netflix
that I cannot wait to tell youabout real quick though. Tomorrow is the
NFL Draft. Can you believe that'sthing snuck up on it a little bit,

(01:08):
Yeah, a little different than ourprevious spot. We are going to
have some uh some freak personalities onsite somewhere to cover the draft and do
the draft. And I believe you'vegot Calves and Kevio tomorrow night at Grapevine
Buffalo Wild Wings. All right, yeah, all right doing their very unique

(01:29):
and uh all all encompassing draft coverage. Dude, those dudes are good.
They're incredible as much as we uhjay around when we get down to it.
Those you know, Kavanaugh's obviously amazingwith all things cowboys, and so
as Kevin Man. They work hardon the draft. I was in Vegas
and Kevin was sending me all theseprop bets on draft positions and bet this

(01:51):
guy over seventeen and a half, you know, like what position they would
get picked, and he was justfreaking out. So the dude was in
Italy working on it. So he'llbe back tomorrow. We'll definitely do tons
of cowboys tomorrow. But we don'tdo cowboys all day every day on this
station, all right, even thoughwe should. Apparently, I don't know,
we're too busy doing the scuttle. But I'll pay off the teas and

(02:21):
I want to get too far intoit. That's brought to you by somebody,
isn't it scooty booty. It's Avasthair restoration. That's some of the
advanced fue game changer your own naturalhair growing back the very next day.
Fast hair restoration been with us awhole way. Man, appreciate them and
check it out. If you wantto change your life, a dancer restoration

(02:42):
can do it for you. Italk about the study thing that I watch.
I just want to do it rightquick. And it's nothing that you
don't know already, but like,if you could do one thing in your
life and almost eliminate stress, noteliminate, but incredibly lower stress, anxiety,
just general feelings of happiness. There'sa fifty fifty year study or a
comprehensive analysis of things for fifty years, and it's essentially just sleep. And

(03:07):
it's the easiest one. And Iknow, you know, for us in
this job is tough, but I'vedone this as almost my New Year's resolution
for many years. And it's notlike you know, you're not like saying
go to the gym three times aweek and get the loutfit on and sweat
your ass off, or stop drinkingor things that are really you know,

(03:28):
maybe harder the more obvious things.Yes, yeah, Neil. The cheat
code in this whole world is tosleep more, sleep more, and drink
more water. Yeah right, yeah, yes, seriously you do those two
things. It's almost like saying breathemore air. That's another one focused actual
deep breaths. How often do youjust really think about breathing and take in

(03:52):
as much oxygen as you can fouror five times in a row. When
you focus on your breaths, whenyou're just kind of like normal breathing,
you're just kind of going, well, take in very little. You're rarely
are you filling up your lungs totheir capacity. But yeah, deep breathing,
water, sleep, Yeah, ofcourse, get out, walk.
But it's almost always the simplest answer. Don't eat food that comes in a

(04:15):
bag for every meal, right ifyou can help it, Yeah, breathe
more, breathe, walk, drinkwater, sleep yep. And I think
it not maybe not eliminate all thenot suggesting it will eliminate the mental health
problems that are going on, notat all. But it ain't gonna hurt,
it will help. And and thisagain, it was a fifty year
study where there are more than fiftyyears of studies, analyzed all of them

(04:39):
essentially and release one of the largestones that uh, psychological bullets, and
release them all and it's like, just get more sleep. That's the big
one. It's not just you're tired, which obviously it would fix. More
positive emotions, joy, happiness, less likely to feel anxious, Just sleep
more, prioritize it. You'll begood. All right on A I figure

(05:00):
we can do this here. It'sa I don't have hypothetical if you want,
and I know you saw my tweetsyesterday and maybe if JJ didn't,
i'd like, you know what, let's put JJ on the stand. Uh.
Steve Balmer is the owner of theLa Clippers, all right, you
know that bald, sweaty guy.Yeah, it's all worked up, always
fun, good gifts. But he'sone of the richest dudes in the world.

(05:23):
He's the tenth give or take tenthrichest man on planet Earth and as
of right now on Forbes list thatupdates like but real time Tracker, which
I don't know if they just factorin shock stock share prices or how they
do it. As of this veryinstant, he's worth one hundred and twenty
one point four billion dollars. Now, I know Danny saw this, so

(05:46):
he can't think clearly, and Iwant you to I can't think clearly.
Hey, try more sleep, Trymore sleep. I was watching the game
last night. Try a five pmtip off, MAVs, I'll get more
sleep. I was thinking, wouldI rather have the net worth of Steve
Balmer or the net worth of everysingle person in attendance at the game last

(06:13):
night? What was his networth?Again? One twenty one billion, one
twenty one billion. There's no wayeveryone in that building will equal to that.
There's no way you want to includeplayers. Oh that's okay. Now.

(06:33):
Originally I, in my head eliminatedplayers. But I may have done
it too flippantly because I think yourinitial reaction is very good, JJ,
and you are correct. Yeah,well I think you're corrected. I'll I
mean, I try to do alittle a little bit of math for Cubans
in that building. He don't play. That's true, Yep, that's exactly

(06:55):
right, Garrison. So I did. I did the quick math because I
was just thinking the people in thearena. I looked up crypto dot com
capacity and it's about nineteen thousand people, and I will say. The first
thing I checked had Bomber's networth atone hundred and nineteen billions, So let's
go with that and just eliminate twobillion dollars that he's made, probably while
we were all asleep last night.Crypto Arena capacity nineteen thousand, So each

(07:20):
person would have to have about sixpoint three million dollars of net worth to
make the attendees side win that game. Six point three million. Now there's
no you know, there's no chance, right, I don't think so when
you have it per person. Butthen you think, all right, somebody's

(07:43):
sitting with Steve Bamer's probably his billionairefriends, you know, maybe a family
member next to him worth a fewbillion. Somebody then said Miriam Addelson is
apparently in attendance. She is thenew owner right of the Dallas Mavericks mm
HM casino Magnate. Her net worthis thirty billion dollars. Mark Cuban was

(08:03):
at the game, who's right aroundfive billion dollars. I'm like, I
mean, that's thirty five billion rightthere, So that obviously lowers that six
point whatever million that every person needsto be worth by a ton. But
I still don't think you're there. So then they said, you know what,
screw it, let's change it.Let's give them every player throwing the

(08:24):
jocks throwing the jocks. So nowthe question is, would rather have Steve
Baumer's net worth or the net worthof every single other human that is in
that arena last night? I stilldon't think even adding the players would do
it. I think you're right,I don't think so. I'm taking that
bird in the hand. Yeah,I think. Now, if we're talking
about NFL players, they're making likeone hundred million, you know, well,

(08:48):
there's more of them, more themso I did baseball, but there's
more of than too. I wasn'tgonna do this last night while I was
watching the game, and that onlybe two distracted. But I looked up
the player's career earnings, not allof them, and you got some big
dogs on these two teams, specifically, let's go with Harden and Westbrook have

(09:09):
each made about three hundred and fortymillion dollars each. But it's pretty funny
when you start thinking a million versusbillion, how big that damn gap is?
Three hundred and forty million each.Paul George has made three hundred and
five million in his career, Kawhitwo hundred and seventy six million. Those
are the monsters on the Clippers.Kyrie has made about two hundred and seventy
million in his career. Luca's rightabout one to ten. Right now,

(09:30):
as far as career earnings, now, that's not necessarily even their net worth,
you know, yes, I don'tknow. Do you think a doubt
it's that's not their net worth. It's way less than that, right because
you talk to talk about all themoney they've spent, yes, but then
offset that by uh, you know, endorsements, sure you know, and
everything they've done there and potential investments. We don't know. But if you

(09:52):
just add those six dudes who arethe six horses for career earnings, that's
only about one point six billion dollars. That's not getting you. That's not
getting you there. Yeah, Soif you add in another billion right in
career earnings for all the other dudeson the team, I just threw that
in, and maybe the coaching staff. I mean, you need Jason kids
entire networth in there. I mean, Penny Marshall famous, whatever, I

(10:18):
mean, you're looking at Billy Crystal, Billy Crystal right all right, what
do you think Billy Crystal's networth thirtymaybe, I don't know, less than
one hundred, yeah, twenty five, twenty. And it's funny, dude,
everyone knows, all right. Imean a quick search as sixty million,
sixty not helping you, No,it's not, I don't think,

(10:41):
Okay, And then I looked atthat. There's seven hundred and fifty six
billionaires in the United States, soright now we know there was three of
them in the building last night withBalmer, Adelson and Cuban. Yeah,
I don't know. Let's say there'sanother three or four billionaires. They're they're
just supporting the chippers. I stilldon't think if you add the net worth

(11:03):
of every single human in that buildingand put it up against Steve Bambers,
I think the right answers is teamSteve Balmer. Still, I guarantee you
most of those fans couldn't afford thosetickets. They're probably paying them off.
Yeah, yeah, they're not like, oh yeah, a few thousand here
now they're paying those tickets off.Yeah, a lot of regular folks,

(11:24):
yeah, mostly, But in thelower bowl in LA, I mean,
you could have a couple other billionatorsand you could. I mean again,
if you're looking at your baseline needingsix million dollars per person in the crowd,
there are probably a few hundred peoplein there that have more than that
as their net worth. Wouldn't yousay that half the people that were in
that arena probably aren't even sniffing halfa million? Yeah? No, yes,

(11:50):
yes, Well those are only celebritiesthat were the Billy Crystal and Penny
mart celebrities there. I think they'rethe only celebrity Clippers. Fans like the
clippers and they go way back,So yeah, I don't I don't see
it. But even then, like, who cares what celebrity would either you're
not talking about billionaires. We justdid a list to the billionaire celebrities.
There's only a whatever ten of themor less. You got to have a

(12:13):
good handful of billionaires in there.I mean you have to and even five
billion, and I mean because MarkCuban five it's crazy to sounds still okay,
And someone needle someone tweeted that thatwe the three of us and everyone
listening is closer to the the networth of Mark Cuban than Mark Cuban is

(12:35):
to Steve Balmer and it's not evenclose. Crazy, and I think I
looked it up. You need twentyfour mark Cubans in there to to to
equal. Uh what Bomber's up.Yeah, it's just fascinating to think about.
You know, give me Steve Bomber. Yeah, you're absolutely right.
I don't know. It's fun.I mean, you can't go wrong either

(12:58):
way, right, Yeah, butyou're in a biding with nineteen thousand out
of a one thousand, for sotwenty thousand people, including NBA legends.
It's kind of emblematic of you know, our population. I know, it's
a kind of a cross cross section, a microcosm of the wealth disparity in

(13:22):
this country, I guess this worldfor that matter. Someone said, do
you think Mark is jealous of thosehigher billionaires? I mean probably, I
don't know. I don't know.Did you get to a point? I
don't know. I mean it seemslike if you've got a billion, you
want two billion, If you gotthirty, you want sixty. I mean,
I know that there's only so muchmoney you can spend and so many

(13:45):
things that you can do in thisshort life that we have in this kind
of small grain of sand in thegalaxy. But it isn't It typically just
more about who's got the bigger wiener, right, figured, the bigger figure
figurative wien. You're at that point. It's got power and perception and how
you're viewed. Said, you mightneed to take everyone's combined lifelong income to

(14:09):
have a shot. Yeah, nodoubt right, and kind of what we're
doing with the NBA players life insurancein there. Yeah. Well so yeah,
someone else said, your net worthincludes a debt, which hurts us
up top. But I guess allthese billionaires have a lot of debt too.
We're going to do it all thatmoney. I don't know another thing
we learne. We also learned thatPenny Marshall died six years ago, and

(14:33):
we we mourn her. We're includingher trust fund. Yeah she left,
Yeah, her offspring, she gaveher her ticket. Look up celebrity Clipper
fans. God, I don't know, okay, y g Queen Latifa,

(14:56):
Penny Marshall play, okay, AdamDevine, Anthony Anderson, whatever, they
ain't helping you. Yeah, youwould need Jay Z and and and they
would just be adding one billion, you know. Yeah, none of those
names were even close. No,no, give me the you think he

(15:18):
ever sits and thinks that that Ican buy and sell everybody in here.
I know he knows that, andI think if you have that much money
for that long, you probably don'thave those thoughts anymore. But that would
cross my mind, be like,I have more money every single person in
this phone. You guys, calculatorapp out. I had to go to

(15:39):
a different calculator too, because thedefault calculator starts throwing the letters in there,
and I'm just like, get ridof that. Okay, we we
we know now Tenny Marshall's dead washer net worth? We'll include every dead
Clipper fan in this hypothetical we gettheir net worth anyway. That dudes are

(16:03):
rich and he's very sweaty. Whatwas the overriding what were the overriding replies
on your tweet? I would sayit was bomber, right, yeah,
but it was actually fun because peoplewere providing. I didn't know Miry Maddison
was there, and that's thirty billionthat team crowd would very much need just
to give him a chance. Youknow. God, the celebrity Clippers fans

(16:29):
is a really funny. It's likean E special, you know, where
they put a bunch of b listersin a house together. Yeah right,
look in real life, yeah, yeah, exactly. Do you ever do
that? It's sort of akin tothis game that my teacher did to us
in high school, which you guysprobably have had as well. And they
give you this hypothetical, do youwant two million dollars or would you rather?

(16:52):
Oh? Yeah, for the courseof a month, you know,
you would get one penny on thefirst day, yeah, and they double
it every day, doubles every day. Yeah. And I was definitely one
of the idiots who raised their handand said, take the two million dollars.
Now, on my defense, I'dbe getting two million dollars pretty good.
But if you take the penny, because people me included obviously don't understand
compounding numbers. If you take apenny on the first day, right,

(17:14):
and two pennies on the second day, and four pennies on the third day,
if you do that for thirty days, then you get up to about
five point three million dollars. Right. It's called I believe it's called exponential
mathematics. Okay, that sounds likesomething I wouldn't understand or excel at.
Yeah, because most of the peoplethat they're asking need money now, so
of course they're gonna take the time. Like I need two million, I'm

(17:36):
gonna take the two million, quittingthe job now and just not working for
a month, and that on theend of that month, I collect the
check for five million dollars. Yeah. But yeah, but it's the same.
I guess it's the reverse of thatprinciple. We apply it to that
hypothetical because even though you hear itall the time, we can't fathom what
a billion is compared to even amillion. I love those graphics that they'll

(17:59):
show to the stack of the stackof money, yes, with a million
dollars, just so sad. Yeah, by comparison, it's nothing. The
billion dollars will fill up the halfof a semi truck, where the million
dollars you can fit in a briefcase. Yeah, crazy, Yeah, somebody
said us one. It's it's theit's smaller than a period. It's a
little dot on my screen that's onethousand dollars. And then you get to

(18:21):
the median income of the US sixtyeight thousand, it looks like a you
know, a slightly larger dot.And then a million is about a quarter
of an inch little green strip, and then you scroll to a billion and
it's I'm still scrolling. It's ablock the size of my entire screen.
And then if you want to lookat one hundred and eighty five billion of
Jeff Jeff Bay. I mean you'veseen these, but you know I love
these. That's a thousand, that'sa million, that's a billion is incredible.

(18:47):
That's bezos, and my figure isgoing and I don't even know.
Jesus, that's nothing longer than Ithought. Oh my god, I have
to get a new computer. Lookat that the whole way unbelievable. Rich
people be rich. That. Yeah, that was a cool scuttle butt.
Dude, thank you. I likedit. Don't worry. Kevio shall return
tomorrow to deliver a proper scuttle butt. Don't you worry about it. Uh,

(19:10):
we got the morning news coming upnext. We're gonna do it a
little bit earlier so we can getright back into some sexy MAVs content with
our good friend Mike Marshall, otherwiseknown as the Oily Machine. We'll do
him at about eight forty, butcoming up next, maybe Kevio's flight wouldn't
be such a disaster if his pilothad done what this pilot did. I

(19:30):
want to talk about a new showthat just dropped on Netflix that everybody needs
to see, And how did thenew Taylor Swift record do all that?
