Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am Sherry Mackie, and it's time for us to
go to God in prayer. And as always I ask
that you join along with me in prayer. And today
it is I keep thinking about our children, and we're
so caught up in stuff. We're so caught up in
what's going on in the world, We're so caught up
with what's going on in our relationships and all of
(00:23):
the stuff that sometimes our children are going by the wayside,
like we've forgotten about them. So I want to pray
about that today. Father, God, in the name of Jesus,
you are the God of compassion, You are the God
of justice, You are the God of generations. We come
(00:44):
before you with heavy hearts today and spirits that are
surging for answers. God crying out, what about the children
in a world too loud with war and worry, with
walls instead of welcome Pauls To remember the smallest voices God,
the ones too often silenced by poverty, burdened by violence, forgotten,
(01:11):
and systems not built for their flourishing. Lord, when we
scroll past stories of pain, abuse, and hunger, remind us
these are not numbers, These are not just social media
postal These are not just voices on the radio or
images we see on TV. These are children, each one
(01:32):
with a name, each one with a dream, each one
your beloved. What about the children, children that have to
walk to school through beer bottles and needles and all
kinds of chaos and terror, and then walk into school
where fear walks the hallways. What about the children and
(01:57):
foster care, the tension centers, repped camps. What about the
children God taught to fight before they're taught to read.
Have we grown so used to injustice and cruelty that
we no longer weep and care? Have we become so
distracted that we forget to protect? Oh? God, awaken our hearts,
(02:20):
unplug our ears. Let the cries of the children echo
through our souls. God, until we cannot help but respond,
Oh God, where there's pain, make us heal us. Where
there's danger, God, make us defend us. Where there's silence,
make us voices and rides like thunder and light, declaring.
(02:40):
Every child is sacred, Every child deserves hope. Every child
carries your image. How and when we ask, what can
I do? Lord? You whisper back, Start where you are, Love, fiercely, give, generously, speak,
bold and never stop asking the hard questions bother God.
(03:06):
In the minium of Jesus, let our hands be your hands.
Let our feet be swift to serve. Our prayers be
more than just words. Who Let our love be action.
Let our love be a fire that refuses to go out.
