Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am Sherry Mackie, and it's time right now for
us to go to God in prayer. It as always
I invite you to join along with me in prayer,
and today I want to pray about a situation somebody
recently shared with me. She said, what do I do, Sherry,
when I can't forget and you're telling me I need
to forgive? Oh, I understand, I get it, but it's
(00:22):
required by God, and you don't want to block the
blessings of God from your own life. Heavenly Father and
the name of Jesus Christ, we come before you today
with hearts that are heavy, carrying memories God, carrying hurts
that refuse to leave us. Lord. There are wounds that linger,
offenses that have cut us deep, wrongs that we can't
(00:43):
seem to forget. But Father, your word calls us to forgiveness,
not because the pain is small, but because your grace
is greater than every hurt we may ever endure. So Lord,
today we confess the struggle forgiveness feels impossible. Sometimes it
feels unfair. Sometimes we won't justice, we won't answers, we
won't relief, And if we'll be honest God, we won't revenge.
(01:07):
But Father, you remind us that forgiveness is not about
excusing the wrong. It's about releasing the hold it has
on our hearts. Today, God, we surrender that burden to you.
We choose to forgive not for the sake of the
one who hurt us, but for the healing of our
own souls, the healing of our own spirits. Jesus, you
forgave even those who nailed you to the cross. You whispered, Father,
(01:31):
forgive them, for they know not what they do. So, Lord,
if you could forgive that, surely we can find the
strength in you to forgive what we can forgive. Give
us the grace, Father, to let go of the anger,
to let go of the bitterness, to let go of
the resentment, to let go of the pride. Heal us,
(01:51):
God in the places inside us that pain is touched.
Replace the heart with peace, replace the anger with compassion. God,
reply the change of unforgiveness with the freedom of your life. Father,
teach us to release our need for revenge and to
trust your perfect justice. Teach us God that when we forgive,
(02:12):
we're not denying the wrong. We're declaring that our hearts
belong to you. And not to the pain. Help us God,
to walk forward, walk into your life, walking with your mercy, God,
walking in the freedom that comes from obeying your word. Lord,
And we ask for strength to forgive ourselves for holding
on too long to the pain and the hurt, for
(02:35):
letting resentment take root in our eyes, and for allowing
unforgiveness to steal our joy. God wash us. Please renew
our minds, God, and renew our spirits. Let your love
flow so powerfully through us that even in the memories
of the hurt, your grace is stronger and your peace rains,
and that we don't have that something that happens inside
(02:59):
of us, that uncle comfortableness, that discomfort that happens when
we think about the incident. And Father, we thank you
for the freedom that your forgiveness brings. God, we thank
you for your example in Jesus Christ, your spirit that
empowers us, your word that leads and guides us. Today. God,
we choose on purpose to forgive what we cannot forget,
(03:23):
trusting that in doing something, You're gonna turn every pain
into purpose, every scar into a testimony, and every hurt
into a step closer to You. God. We thank you.
We give it to you,
